The only reason for 4 vs 5 on service is that maybe the food came out a bit too fast, we felt a bit rushed with not enough time to converse with our party and enjoy our cocktails. I don't think it was intentional though, it was after 8:00PM on a pretty slow night and there was only a few other tables for them to take care of, so maybe they were just being effecient.
We recently worked with Lauren to coordinate our office holiday celebration, and I couldn’t be more grateful for her support. Everything turned out beautifully, and her thoughtful planning made the entire process feel easy and stress-free. Her team, Erin and Christina, were incredibly attentive and helpful throughout the event. Erin went above and beyond by allowing us to use the table tops near the Christmas tree, which created a more inclusive and welcoming seating arrangement for everyone. Lauren’s calm, organized approach made the planning experience enjoyable, and the end result was a celebration that felt both festive and seamless. I truly appreciate the effort she and her team put into making our event such a success! Thank you, Sarah Ragusa
I love Native. It's one of my favorite hangs in Rochester. Great unique food menu, amazing drinks, and phenomenal service. Whether you sit at the bar or get a table Native will treat you to a special experience each time.
Went for happy hour before an Amerks game with friends. Had a bunch of their food and cocktail specials which were all delicious! Atmosphere was great; lively without being too loud for friendly conversation (we all sat at the bar). Would definitely go back again!
Our dining experiences at Native have consistently been exceptional. The menu is thoughtfully curated, offering a diverse range of options that cater to all preferences. Every dish I’ve tried has been flavorful, made with high-quality ingredients, and served in well-balanced portions. The service is equally impressive. The staff, including both servers and bartenders, are attentive, personable, and professional. I've particularly appreciated the engaging conversations with the bartenders while enjoying their expertly crafted cocktails and beverages. Their warmth and skill significantly enhance the overall dining experience. The ambiance of the restaurant is both comfortable and contemporary, making it suitable for a variety of guests—from families with children to couples on a romantic evening out. The space is always clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully organized, reflecting the high standards of a professional establishment. Native continues to be a favorite, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a well-rounded and enjoyable dining experience.
Had a fabulous dinner with great food and cocktails! Our server comped our dessert and gave us two glasses of Prosecco after we mentioned it was our first date night since having our son. The manager, Ross, also came by and chatted with us for awhile. All in all, we will definitely be frequenting there when we do get those rare date nights without the little one!
Native is awesome! Their cocktails are fantastic, first of all. I definitely will need to try some of the different ones they have next time. They had one of my all-time favorite appetizers - whipped feta! So delicious! And the food was amazing too! An amazing atmosphere - they open the walls up on nice days - and amazing food! Great service too! Such fantastic employees. I can't wait to go back to try more!
Really neat location, I liked the big windows which gave a nice food. Got bread, wife got burger and i got steak. Burger i read mixed reviews but was really good (I snuck a bit of burger and fries). I liked steak but im not that much of a steak person anymore and would have liked the fries instead of potatoes to get that salty bite. Would recommend and would go back should have gotten the salmon :(
We stopped in for a late lunch. Great location. There is a parking garage next door with a bridge connecting to the restaurant. They offer a discount rate if you make a reservation through the restaurant web site. The restaurant is a very nice space. Good size bar, plenty of windows, nice big booths. Service was good. Food was good. Located next door to MLK park. Worth a visit.
Invited a large group of customers to have a nice dinner in a private setting. Ordered many different cocktails and everyone was pretty happy. I ordered some kind of steak (hanger?)with creamed spinach - steak was still undercooked and underwhelming overall. Loved the fact that we had nice conversations. Dessert-creme brûlée.
Nice relaxing environment, not overly lit. There was a nice variety of drinks and food on the menu. Super friendly and attentive staff with timely service. Food came out hot and was delicious. One neat fact; is that they open up some glass walls when the weather is nice to give that outdoor dining feel and some fresh air! Will definitely be going back.
Went here for lunch and was pretty impressed with the ambiance of the place. Super great for meetings, to get together with friends, or anything else. Food was good but I’m not sure dinner there is worth the price. Lunch was affordable, fast service, and quite good. I got the Reuben but wouldn’t get it again, the pizzas and burgers look great, though!
Beautiful Tuesday night - getting dinner before walking across the street to see a play at Geva. Drinks and a quick dinner. I liked Ghosted - a drink featuring ghost pepper tequila and a smoky/salty rub along one side of the glass and my wife liked her SWV (or something like that). Dinner featured the Summer Veggie Sourdough pizza and the Tropical Greens with Ahi Tuna adder. I'm a HUGE fan of sourdough bread, now this pizza I'll have again. It featured a balsamic swirl that I wanted more of and that crust was micro-thin, but held up. The Tropical Greens we liked a lot - and I knew the Ahi was going to be tough (we just got back from Bermuda where we had a Tuna Poke that was so fresh it may have been swimming the day before...) - and I was right. It was good - but I recently had some that was exceptional.
First off I would like to point out that this restaurant has a nice atmosphere and was aesthetically pleasing to eat in. Also the food was excellent and the price matched the atmosphere. However, the service was downright terrible. Our waitress barely checked on us to see how we're doing. I was ignored when asking for more water; twice. I even made eye contact with her but she looked at me indignantly and walked away. We only had the water we were served at the beginning and had to nurse it all night. Also when we ordered an appetizer it never came. Our food came out then when asked about it she had never told the kitchen staff to make it. For being a moderate upscale establishment one would think that the service would match the restaurant. I would eat here again if the waitresses were trained better in hospitality.
I came to this restaurant with my two young sons because this restaurant is very close to the strong museum of play so it seemed like a perfect spot to go for lunch. As I did not want to eat the cafeteria food at the museum. When we arrived, we all enjoyed the ambience and the servers were really quite lovely. We were seated right away. Once we were seated, I asked for the children’s menus only to find out that there aren’t any. I thought this was a little bit odd considering this restaurant is right by a children’s museum. I ordered the lettuce wraps and substituted mushrooms instead of the shrimp. Unfortunately, I cannot have dairy so I had to get rid of the sauce that normally comes with it. I asked if there were an alternative to the sauce and the only suggestion I was given was soy sauce. I do appreciate the suggestion however I definitely think it was the wrong one. A salsa or something less intense than soy sauce would’ve made a lot more sense. I would say the lettuce wraps were only OK and not overly filling. My son’s split a pizza. Luckily kids are easy to please and they were quite happy. However, if it were me eating the pizza, I would’ve not really enjoyed that Pizza. It seemed to be quite doughy. I cannot say enough about the servers. They were completely lovely. And again the ambience is great. I just think the menu could be a little bit better and adding some selections for children would make a lot of sense given the location.
The Native is stunning and spacious, with beautiful windows, exposed brick, and nicely decorated for the holidays. The atmosphere feels relaxed yet sophisticated, and the service was top notch. Unfortunately the food and drinks fell short. I ordered the S.W.V cocktail which was a bit bitter and just not very good. My husband ordered an Old Fashion and was given a glass of bourbon with a dried orange peel and ice cube in it. We ordered the Burrata appetizer which was cold and rubbery, not hot and creamy at all. I ordered the Chicken Confit which was overcooked to the point of being dry, crunchy, and tasteless. It came with mashed potatoes and the tiniest carrots which were cold. My husband had better luck ordering the Caesar Salad and Pork Osso Bucco. My husband's meal was hot and the risotto was delicious. Overall we had a decent experience, but the food could use improvement and better quality control.
Been here a couple times happy with everything except for the mice we watched run across the dining room directly into the kitched at ~8pm on a Saturday night. Left a note on the feedback card in person but felt this review was important and will delete/update upon Native proving they have attempted to resolve this issue.
If I could give the service 0 stars. I would. I have never had such a poor experience with a waitress. We arrived to Native at 7:00pm for our 7:15pm reservation. The hostess was incredibly unfriendly and not welcoming. We sat at the bar while we waited for our table. The bartenders were great, very attentive and the drinks were good. We sat down and our waitress did not come to our table for 15 minutes… and that’s a generous statement. When she finally came over, she was also unfriendly. We ordered the Burrata and Seafood dip as an appetizer. The apps took 45 minutes to come out and they were cold and quite frankly disgusting, the presentation was awful (pictures for reference). The entire time we waited for our appetizers, our waitress did not check on us once or come over to apologize for the wait. It is important to note, the restaurant was not busy. We were finally able to order our entrees and we waited another 45 minutes for our food to come out. The entrees were cold and the food was inedible. We ordered Confit Chicken that was over cooked and crunchy. A midtown burger that was clearly a frozen burger. And the Short Rib Ragu which was so unappetizing. Our bill was $145 for disgusting food and the worst service I’ve ever received at a restaurant. I will never be back and I will be sure to tell others about this experience. Incredibly disappointing and disgusting. 0/5 stars.
