Well rounded Japanese cuisine that has great quality tasting food. It is a bit pricey, but the meals are on the larger portion side. The sushi was good but could be a little more fresh and the rice was not that sticky. Calamari was delicious, the fried rice was outstanding. Great staff and nice atmosphere to share with the family

The bar was amazing! The Koi drink was perfect. I only eat tope aka here yummy! The egg rolls were very light and fresh too!!

Nice environment, busy so must mean food is good. The calamari salad was very delicious. Dressing was very flavorable and I could really just have this as a meal. Everything was great with the exception what they called a salmon roll, but I am hoping this was an exception. I plan to come back and try again, so stay tuned!

My nephew chose this restaurant for his birthday and there were only four of us dining in. I liked the atmosphere and design overall. Food tasted good but not great. Mom didn't like Miso soup, said it tasted old and too much onion flavor. Yakisoba had lots of bell pepper and sliced onion. Chicken is tender and seasoned well. I didn't feel like ordering seafood, I don't trust many places when it comes to preparing fish knowing that Visalia isn't a location known for Fresh Seafood. Good menu options and desserts available. 2 staff members sang happy Birthday and were very nice. Servers could be a little more attentive but were friendly and did check on us. I would like to try other menu items and possibly sushi 🍣 in the future. Tried Saki for the first time...not my first choice but interesting flavor and it definitely has the alcohol taste going down🍶

We have been here many times and always enjoyed it. Last night our experience was not as it always been. Our server Amanda was amazing! However our chef Carlos... not so much. We came for the experience and the only interaction was when he asked our orders.. and still did not get them right. Rice and veggies were good. But salmon was over cooked and the calamari was under cooked. NY steak had no flavor. We will try again but definitely request to not have Carlos cook for us!

Gozen Japanese Restaurant interior is open and modern. Menus is good, but menus need less advertisements and a few more photos of their sushi. Staff is attentive, but need a more professional approach to their customer contact. Sushi selected was decent quality, but presentation could use better presentation.

I went out to lunch with coworkers to celebrate a promotion. We had a party of twelve, and had scheduled a reservation; we still had to wait to be seated. The atmosphere was delightful as tranquil Japanese music played softly in the background. The chef was entertainingly corny! As per the food, we ordered off the lunch Teppanyaki menu which was reasonably priced for the taste; which was mediocre at best. I wish I had ordered sushi!!!

After hearing good things I was thoroughly disappointed. Got in a little past 7... can't be seated till 7:30 (totally fine) don't get a chef till 15 after 8.... we are seated (husband and I) with ONE other couple. The chef speaks Spanish and only speaks to them the whole time. Back turned chatting up a storm in a language we don't understand, and even verbalised we don't... we got a God bless you and is everything okay? While they got jokes and stories the whole time. Everyone spoke English at the table? But only some spoke Spanish. It felt incredibly disrespectful and odd to CHOOSE the language your guests don't know. Food was good. Everything was clean. But don't plan to come back after that experience.

Cook was not good at all. Not entertaining at all. Scallops were horrible and rubbery, no salad offered, the veggies were served at the end and overcooked. He was very messy, no tricks. He needs more training. Very disappointing for our group. I will not recommend this place, ever again.

Walked in and was greeted awkwardly, but was still smiling. Sat down with a lunch menu and regular menu. Thought I’d try “pick 2” lunch menu with salad, fried rice, miso soup, pick1:spicy tuna rolls (four mini pieces) & pick2: tempura veggies The salad was very low quality. Not rotten lettuce, but lettuce with bug burrow holes. Miso didn’t taste right. Some sort of filler. 1 bite of fried rice because it just wasn’t fried rice. The tempura veggie tempura was nice. The batter was crispy and the vegetables weren’t overcooked. All 4 spicy tuna rolls were the size of 1 actual normal roll. Disappointing in size but at least it was spicy. I would not order again. Great deal at $22 + tax, but it was $22 of disappointment. I’d rather buy 1 roll for $25 - $30 somewhere else and be happy with the quality. Atmosphere is a bit dark. Clean is usually bright.

The chef did good entertaining, the food wasn’t that great. I had shrimp, shrimp were over cooked. He redid the shrimp and they were still overcooked and bland. The staff was attentive , I won’t be coming here again.

The reason I'm giving this place one star is because it took an hour for the cook to get to our counter to cook our food. He also cooked our fried rice first and we stuffed ourselves with rice and lastly he cooked our chicken and vegetables. By the time he cooked our chicken and vegetables we hadn't even had our fill of rice. They charged us 17% as a tip and the service was awful and they still demand a tip without even asking for it. I will never go back there. We paid $498.89 to fill ourselves with rice and they charged us $66.81 as a tip. That's a rip-off.
