Opinions de Il Fornaio Walnut Creek
Just had dinner at Il Fornio in Walnut Creek. Been awhile since we were here and they have really stepped up their game. Food was outstanding. The Salmon was flavorful and cooked just right. Service was truly wonderful. Water glass never was less than half full. Food was served with excellent timing. Follow up on satisfaction quickly and checked in on how we were doing. Atmosphere was also wonderful. Despite being busy, you could actually hold a conversation without have to yell. Would definitely come back and recommend.
My friend and I came here for to celebrate her bday today and had an absolutely amazing experience. From the moment we stepped in, we were welcomed by our server Darlene who was an absolute gem. She was so warm and kind and helped up pick out what she thought we would like based on our food interests. She also gave us a complimentary birthday gelato and sang happy birthday for my friend which showed that she was going above and beyond. I think she really made our experience amazing and we had a great time. Also amazing food!!!!
We held our lunch here for our annual company retreat and we had a wonderful time. James Cornibe was our event coordinator and his customer service was amazing. He was super communicative and answered all and any of my emails so quickly. He was extremely friendly and answered all the questions we had especially when it came down to catering for our members with dietary restrictions. He kept us well informed leading up to the event and the lunch was perfect. The food was good, everything was well organized and our waiters were wonderful! Would definitely recommend dining here (we were a team of 37 and they accommodated us perfectly). Would highly recommend dining here - thank you James!!
I was in Windsor a few weekends ago one a small getaway with my wife. We stopped into this store to bring back a nice small gift for our son and his bf. Thought we would be getting a few pieces but we ended up buying the 9 piece box and we got to pick which pieces to put in the box. The pieces are so beautifully crafted we bought a second set for ourselves. The chocolates are works of art, you almost hate to bite into them. But when your do, you get a good taste of the sublime. Non of the flavors were overpowering, which was welcoming. Even the Mexican chocolate piece that has cayenne in it is just strong enough to say "hello" (or hola). Definitely will stop in here whenever I rolled through town again.
Authentic Italian cuisine in an extremely large and beautiful setting with several private dining rooms. Not the place for a quick meal, but excellent for a well enjoyed meal experience with family and friends. The meals are delicious and visually appealing, there's a full bar and it's topped off with Italian desserts. It's definitely more pricey than most restaurants.
I had the most wonderful birthday dinner at Il Fornaio! From the moment the staff found out it was my birthday, they went out of their way to make the experience special. They gave us a beautiful table, checked in regularly to make sure we were comfortable, and even surprised me with a birthday dessert. Everyone was so kind and attentive — it really made me feel cared for. The atmosphere was lovely, and the service was top-notch. Thank you to the team at Il Fornaio for turning a dinner into a truly memorable celebration. I’ll definitely be back!
A great place to enjoy a special occasion with family and loved ones. Food is good, multiple options for vegetarian folks as well. Their gnocchi and ricotta cheese appetizers are mouth watering. Chicken Parmesan, Ravioli and pesto pasta were our mains favorites. Their fire oven pizza is a must have. Deserts like volcano and bread pudding are icing on the cake!! Besides the food, the ambiance and the service was great as well.
We are here to celebrate our daughter's birthday and it didn't disappoint! The restaurant is so nicely decorated and appears high class. However there's no dress code. I noticed some customers dressed up and some others were in short. The atmosphere is quite casual and I love it! We ordered a pizza, Caesar salad, fried calamari , and a seafood pasta. All are very good! Food was served very quickly and the waiter was very attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely come back again!
Easy to walk here from the Broadway Plaza Shops in Downtown Walnut Creek. Very conveniently located with indoor and outdoor seating as well as a large bar area that serves happy hour on weeknights. The Happy Hour gives great portion sizes for a really good price. The drinks came out quickly and so did the food. This is a great place for a date night or to bring family / guests, the menu is extensive and the atmosphere is fantastic.
Finally tried this place for lunch. Seated quickly. The waitress was attentive. Bread came out with the Regina salad. The salad was different for me, considering the couscous, but very tasty. Large portion so we shared it. He ordered the lasagna which was also a surprisingly big portion. A little underwhelming in the flavor department and there was a soft, almost creamy cheese on top that we couldn't identify. I ordered the seasonal gnocchi dish to try, but with pasta. The sauce itself was not enjoyable. The waitress was nice enough to let me order something different. I went with the linguine mare pasta with a little extra spice. Loved every bite! Id come back here for the service alone. Please forgive the angle on the seafood pasta pic!
I hosted my wedding reception here for 55 people. Communication was at some times confusing but I did always get ahold of someone. Service was good and the food was good as well. No complaints from guests and the space was very nice.
Great restaurant for Italian food. I’ve been to the Santa Clara location and also the Del Mar location, and this is on par with those two in terms of customer service. The food itself was good, but the other two locations were slightly better. We got 4 things: Calamaretti Fretti, Cristina, Rigatoni Alla Vodka, Tagliatelle Bolognese. Both the Rigatoni and Bolognese were exceptional. Flavor was on point; not too salty and not too bland either and it had enough sauce to cover all the pasta. The only minor issue was that the pasta was a little bit past true “al dente”. It still had a chew, but not as firm or as “al dente” as other Il Fornaio locations. The Calamari Fretti was good as well. The portion was good, the calamari was cooked perfectly, and the batter wasn’t too thick or overwhelming. The Cristina pizza was just ok. The pizza texture itself was cooked through nicely, but the ingredients used were overpowered by the saltiness of the prosciutto. I didn’t really taste the truffle oil that much, and the mushrooms were very little. Still, it’s an overall very good restaurant for pasta. The customer service is great, and wait time is not too bad either. Will definitely come back to this location.
Il Fornaio in Walnut Creek is a fantastic spot for authentic Italian food. The steak was perfectly cooked—tender and flavorful. The pizza had a crisp yet chewy crust with fresh toppings. The cauliflower was delicious, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. Great service and a warm atmosphere make this place a must-visit!
This restaurant has great atmosphere which makes it a pleasant dining experience. The food was mediocre. My husband had the veal scallopini, and I had the Lasagna. He didn’t like his food very much. My Lasagna was okay. The Tiramisu was excellent and was on the house as a treat for celebrating our wedding anniversary.
We visited this Italian restaurant with my family yesterday. Overall, the experience was okay, but the food didn't quite meet our expectations. We work in the kitchen so we understand what's good what's bad. We ordered calamari, gnocchi, steak, and a salad. Everything was decent and nicely presented, but the flavors were somewhat average and didn't stand out as much as we hoped. The calamari was fine, and the steak was cooked well, but the dishes in general lacked the richness and depth of flavor we usually expect from Italian cuisine. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was friendly, which we appreciated. However, when it comes to the food, it was good but not particularly memorable. We ordered chicken fingers and fries for my son and it came so late almost 40 minutes later. Fries were so crispy and not hot like chicken which was reheated again. Calamari was saggy and oily it wasn't cooked in clean oil. Overall, it was an okay dining experience, but there is room for improvement, especially in terms of flavor and seasoning.
We've been here many times over the years for birthday & other special events and it's always been great. However, our latest visit was disappointing. They weren't at all crowded but decided to jam 5 of us into a table intended and used for just four. When visiting the restroom, I walked by several large unoccupied tables. After seating us and receiving menus from our server, we had to ask if we could order drinks. If you park in their parking structure, you should know that parking is free if you stay only 90 minutes. If you stay 91 minutes (measured when you enter & exit the structure), you will be charged/penalized no less than $10. Il Fornaio does absolutely nothing to help/offset. I'm hoping they'll get their act together, including sharper servers... ours seemed like she should have "refresher" training. We'll probably give them one more chance, but there are a lot of options.
The ambiance is beautiful and definitely transports you to an Italian villa on the Amalfi coast. Unfortunately they seated the two of us next to a party of 6 that were very loud and animated. We could not hear each other talk because of the noise from the party next to us. Unfortunately, we were seated first and was in the middle of our salad course when The party next to us was seated. The food was mediocre and way too expensive for what you got. I ordered the grilled scallops and shrimp for $45 and got 3 small shrimp, still in the shell with legs and 3 med sized scallops on a bed of polenta.
So I had a ladies night at this restaurant which is beautiful but the food was not good and my server was a rude older gentleman. A friend of mind didn’t like her food and she was asking questions. When I was suggesting something he put his hand in my face cut me off and said rudely I’ll ask her! We both my friend and I were like did he really do that? He was rude about her and another guest not liking the nasty food. I really shouldn’t have given him a dime in a tip. But trust he didn’t get much. We all were successful business women who tip well. But we were all like he doesn’t deserve nothing. Overall the restaurant itself is nice. Service sucked big time. It was just him other people in the restaurant were very nice
