It's a fun and trendy place. The food is good and the bartenders were really nice. It was clean and the crowd is from all different age groups and backgrounds. A little expensive but worth it for the experience if you're out to have a good time.

Bottomless momos, woodfire pizzas, breakfast calzone, beautiful space with a chill atmosphere. Come here for a chill, long, brunch and leave happy.

Pizza Party with unlimited drinks for brunch...count me in 😂

Three of us (2 adults and 1 child) went on a thursday evening. We had the chicken meatballs as an appetizer and it was decent. The children's bolognese, tricolore salad, and beet salad were fantastic. We wish the salads were not so small and the tricolore salad only had 2 anchovies in it. The "Suits Get Crazy" seasonal drink was phenomenal. The wait staff was sufficient, but not great. Seating was a little bit tight.

Great specialty cocktails and bartenders. We enjoyed the pizza and mussels too. Always like to drop in and relax for an off beaten path bar with upscale setting.

We were thirteen people looking for a place to eat post Thanksgiving. Tried and failed elsewhere, Urbana was right under our noses (we were guests at the hotel). They did a great job, tasty food and courteous, efficient service. Well done!

I can't comment on the food here, but the bar is excellent. They have a vast selection of whiskeys, knowledgeable and friendly bartenders. Really enjoyed my time here 11-2

I went here for happy hour and it did not disappoint. I don't know what drink I got (it was a special) but it was delicious. The pizza and calamari here are great too.

Really enjoyed atmosphere and food. The wait staff was very friendly & helpful & attentive. It occupies space in botique hotel that has very nice lobby. If i didn't live outside DC I'd visit again no question.

An extremely fantastic experience. I just dined here tonight and came to rate it. I am shocked at all of the negative reviews, but maybe they have changed some things in the last few months. We ate later in the evening on a weeknight. The service was perfect, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the staff was attentive and friendly but never hovered and were not pushy at all. The food was extremely flavorful and unique. We had the market pizza as an appetizer and each had a pasta dish for our entree. Everything was wonderful. As for the wine, the wine list was the largest I personally have ever seen, though I'm not much of a wine connoisseur. It was pages long. The only two things I would say were negative is the price was extremely high and the entree selection was not very big. I still would rate the overall experience very high.

Came here earlier this week and had a great time. I've been many times before for brunch and happy hour, but this was my first time having a full meal. Well done. The Halibut was excellent and the wine selection was great. Also had the salmon crudo to start, which was great as well. The dining room looks cool with all of the green tiles the service staff took good care of us. The price wasn't cheap, but also was breaking the bank. It's a place worth checking out for a good dinner.

Came here for brunch today! It was fabulous 😍 We got the unlimited pizza and brunch drinks for $34 and I am more than pleased! The drinks keep flowing and the pizza is hot and fresh! 10/10 recommend! Manuel was our server and he was INCREDIBLE ♥️

I first came here years ago for restaurant week and really appreciated that they offered their entire menu instead of just a few items. I had been meaning to come back because everything was amazing. So finally this past weekend I took my mother here while she was visiting from out of town and we had a wonderful experience! The service was amazing and helpful and the food was incredible. Our server also told us how awesome their brunch is and that they have a half off bottomless bellinis if you go to their website - I'll definitely be back sooner than a few years!

They have a daily Happy Hour from 3-7pm where you can get $1 oysters if you sit at the bar or in the lounge. I thought the oysters were pretty good (but I am by no means a oyster connoisseur). Urbana has great ambiance and service. Overall, a fun night out.

Great food, great service. A mistake was made on our order but the waiter noticed it before we did and then gave us a complimentary appetizer and dessert. Try any of their pastas or seafood items. I will definitely come back.

Great spot for drinks. Stopped in, rather late, for a few cocktails. Very chill atmosphere. Massive selections. Our bartender, Casey, was fantastic: friendly and professional. She has some serious skill as a mixologist. Definitely worth a visit.

Randomly rang in the new year at this hotel bar. It was good vibes, great food, live music, and offered tasty drinks. I think the theme was 1920s jazz club, and it definitely lives up to that. Their brunch menu offers lots of yummy options at a decent price.

Came here for Restaurant Week and, while I ended up spending more than I wanted because of the drinks, I didn't feel bad about it at all because it was a lovely meal. I started with the salmon carpaccio, which, while a little heavy on the olive oil, had a lovely fresh taste and was well balanced by the chives and radish. The papperdelle with mushrooms, truffles, and parmesan was decadent and delectable. I finished the meal with the ricotta cheesecake which was very nice, but not anything that I haven't had at other nice restaurants. All in all, I had a very nice dinner and would love to return again.

I was very impressed by the fullness of flavor at Urbana. From the moment we sat down, we were relaxed and cared for. The bread was served warm with the excellent (really excellent) olive oil. My wife likes butter with her bread- it came served with a little piece of waxed paper with the restaurant name on it. Nice touch. Ingredients are carefully chosen, my Diver Scallops spoke clearly of the oceanic "mere-oire" and the Creekstone Sirloin was cooked exactly as desired. Dessert was not an afterthought and showed great care for a sweet-send off to a memorable meal. Cheers!

One of my absolute favorites in Dupont--pizza, pasta, salads; everything is delicious! The staff are always friendly and some even greet me by name. My recommendation: always start at the bar for a cocktail before dinner, it's huge and the vibe sets the tone for a great night out.

Food was tasty, steak was perfectly cooked, cavatelli was creamy with lamb sausage, salmon was also cooked well. The roast chicken was a bit on the salty side by itself, add the capers and olives that came with the dish and it made it even more salty. Overall experience was great, no wait for an 8:30pm dinner, server was great- very attentive. Cappuccino icecream was delicious. Will visit again when in DC.

Oysters on the half shell are what’s up. Nice bar. Good lighting. They have a deal of oysters and beer for around $10. Will be back!

Very delicious food. But the pizza not that great.

After having had a previously bad experience at brunch time dining at Urbana about a year ago, I decided to give it another go. We dined at the pizza bar and had pizzas. The service was quite attentive and it was nice to watch the pizza chefs cook. The pizzas were absolutely delish and based on my experience this time around I will certainly return again.

After bar hopping with the graduating residents in the area, my husband and I decided to check out Urbana for a nice sit down dinner and to celebrate our move. Although we felt a bit under-dressed upon checking in, we were pleasantly surprised to learn that Urbana was packed with families (with kids), tourists in shorts, and couples on dates - my husband and I fit just right in. I'm not going to deny that I'm a big eater. When our waiter recommended ordering 3-4 dishes per person and we decided to go with just 5, I was ready to yelp a place nearby for second dinner. But honestly, 2 dishes per person was more than satisfying for anyone with normal appetite. In fact, my husband and I had to force ourselves to finish the delicious last plate and missed out on desserts. Let's get back on talking about the food... Bolognese tagliatelle - a bit thicker than what I'm used to - much more like pappardelle - al dente, just the way I like my pasta, meat sauce - perfect blend of acidity and sweetness. One of my favorite dishes of the night! Squid ink bucatini - didn't taste much of the squid ink but the pasta was very well made - again al dente and chewy. Served with a generous amount of fresh shrimp and squid - a very light pasta dish. Scallop - perfectly pan seared and seasoned - a little taste of heaven, definitely my fav dish of the night. Halibut - my husband loved the fish but I found it a bit dry. I enjoyed the pillowy gnocchi in the incredible creamy sauce served with this fish much more. In addition, we were impressed by the size of this dish, can definitely be an entree alone. Short rib - we were so stuffed by the time this was served. The red wine sauce wasn't overbearing like most places I've tried. It had the perfect amount of alcohol-y taste and sweetness. The short rib fell apart by a light stroke of the fork - the perfect amount of fat/meat ratio - literally melt in our mouth. Another heavenly dish. Overall - very impressed by every dish we had. 5 dishes + service + tax = around $100. Not bad for such incredible tasting, presentation, and beautiful restaurant! Service was spot on (until our waiter had to take his break and we were waiting for our check - 10 mins of awkwardly looking all around for him). We will definitely return and thinking about taking my in laws here when

I had the linguini with clams and found it very refreshing. Portion size was just right and it tasted really good. I wish the bread was more flavorful.

This is a fantastic bar area and restaurant to enjoy a drink and an app with a friend. Good staff, good happy hour, and easy appetizers. They also have 'late night' menu with pizza and other limited selections.

L

Service is not consistent. Was told breakfast ended at 11 we went at 10:30 and they wouldn't seat us or even serve coffee. Food is good though, pizza is yummie.

K

Had the bottomless Bellini brunch. Food was outstanding, shrimp and grits and the lump crab were amazing dishes, if not a little small. Drinks were just OK - I guess this is the standard for DC now. Had 3 varieties of juice to mix with the bubbly, though like all bottomless places, getting service was always a challenge. Our table of 4 had to repeatedly ask for water, juice, (oddly they kept the bubbly coming) and silverware, plus they ran out of bloody mixer around 1pm. If not for the service, would be a top pick.

J
Jennifer Beroshi

Go here for their bottomless bellini bar, which is incredible. You get your choice of about a dozen delicious fruit purees, which you can then mix with some pretty good quality champagne. Perfect for a brunch with friends -- although the venue itself is not that rowdy. Their food is pretty good, too -- some of their dishes are delicious (pizzas!), though the majority of them are kind of boring, not to mention their selection is rather limited compared to a lot of other DC brunch places.

Good food, but for the price and location I expected better. Flavors just fell a little short of what it could be. In an empty restaurant, waiter sat us next to another couple, making conversation awkward. Otherwise a decent spot that's well located.

F
Francis Bingham

Elaine is right about the food - some of it was very good (oysters), but the pizza was too salty, and overwhelming. The salad was also too salty - for $7, you'd think they could get the dressing right on a small salad. The manager is something of a jerk, as well: when our server accidentally busted my wife's lip open (NOT joking) with a glass, he brought us the cheapest sparkling wine he could find. Disappointing overall.

K
Katie Keegin

I checked out the new Urbana for dinner given the awesome reviews it was getting but left underwhelmed. Food was ok, but you can do much better for cheaper in DC. The feeling (for dinner) was hotel restaurant, and that's never a good thing. For happy hour, this is a better bet, and generally has a better ambiance as well.

M
Meg Smith

We were impressed by the menu's variety, although the execution was good but not great. The starter "casseroles" are blah. The scallops were average. The crab and chili linguine was very good, although perhaps a notch too spicy for most palates (one of us loved it, one of us needed a breather). The arctic char was the best thing we ordered. Crispy skin and salsa verde were perfect complements. Service was friendly and not overbearing. A fun evening with good food, but not somewhere to impress a true foodie.

Urbana is a convenient place if you're staying at the Palomar. I've only had breakfast there, but the quality of the food is a bit all over the place. They do use good ingredients, but they often burn them -- so far the smoked salmon was the best, probably because the only thing that can be burned is the bagel. There's potential for improvement, so it's worth a try if you're staying at the hotel.

Y
Yolie Flores

Service was great -- seems changes have been made, given past reviews. Not crazy about the menu, though. I ordered the scallops, which were ok but over-priced. They are served with risotto, chard, pancetta, caper, hazelnut, and brown butter. There were some hard pieces in there that I couldn't eat, so I only ate the scallops themselves. The restaurant is convenient (and not bad) if you're staying at the Palomar, but I probably wouldn't come here just for the food.

A
Alex Becker

I went for breakfast. The service is alright (rarely a smile), and I highly recommend you don't take the buffet (maximum of 7-8 items to choose from). Regular portions are small. Unfortunately not a great experience. Extremely overpriced ($16 for two eggs and one slice of toast and potatoes?!). Note: we were staying at the adjoined hotel.

Was eating dinner here last night for the first time, and a HUGE ROACH crawled up the wall right next to our table (headed in the direction of me and my date's food). ANOTHER ROACH appeared on the floor and almost crawled on my date's shoe, had i not told her to lift her feet up in time. It was disturbing and surprising, because Urbana is such a high-quality (and slightly expensive) restaurant with a clean appearance. The only reason I'm not giving ONE star is because of our server, Manuel (I hope I'm spelling his name right). He killed the wall roach for us, notified the manager of the roach issue immediately, checked on us several times, and even took the drinks off our bill, while the manager simple asked us if we wanted to move tables. Manuel was super friendly, understanding and helpful to us, even before the roach incident. Awesome service! If you dare come to this restaurant, ask for him as your server. He's the best! With that being said, I'm never setting foot in Urbana again. $32 for pasta but they have a roach problem. I know it's DC and all but... c'mon. ::smh::

The food wasn't bad, once we got it. However, the staff was rude and did not pay attention to our orders. An eggplant panini turned into something with meat, with little recognition or apology from the wait staff. Won't be going back again.

We came twice on our stay at the hotel. I'm writing this as we are waiting to be served on our second visit. The first night was because we got in late and didn't want to venture out to find dinner. We sat at the bar for quicker service. Despite 2 people behind the bar, it still took a while, even on what looked to be a quiet night. Happy to chat to each other though.... The 2nd time was because it was raining and we had a very late lunch so just wanted something quick and easy. Took 20 minutes just to get water to the table. Looked like only one person was actually doing anything on the service side, despite 3 people standing there, watching us take our seats in the lounge. For the prices, we expected a lot better service. Watching the staff standing around talking to each other rather than checking anyone needing service is pretty frustrating when to just want to order. I saw 3 people go up to the bar to ask for things while we waited for our first drinks order because they where sick of waiting. Pretty poor for what looks to be a high end restaurant. 2 stars may be generous.....

Had breakfast with my son today. $11.00 pancakes, no butter and just 2 ounces of syurp. $11.00 french toast with a raisin compote was actually pretty good but $11 is a little much. Breakfast sausage was burnt, not grill marks but burnt. Not once we're we offered refills with our water. We were never asked if our food was good. Got our bill right after the food arrived. There was there tables in the restaurant. I feel like Urbana is trying so hard to be trendy and unique but has forgot what is important. Good food and good service.

Visiting from out of town and wanted somewhere close to the hotel. The staff seems sad. The fritti misti needed seasoning. The fried shrimp tasted like dishwater.the calamari was OK. They took it off the bill ( found a hair on the calimari. That can happen anywhere.) I felt bad for our waiter. We both got pizza. It was tastyish but... is wood fried pizza supposed to have grey soot where the fire hits it? If the service and the food was better this could be a hot spot. The ambiance is really nice. I had to go to CVS after to get tums and gas ex. I gave two stars because I felt bad for the waiter and the sad hostess. Cool place for drinks only.

It was a long cold and rainy day in DC so I wanted warm pasta and didn’t want to walk anymore. Urbana is in the Hotel Palomar (good hotel) and I choose the hotel because of having a restaurant and it’s location. I ordered the more expensive lobster ravioli- it wasn’t warm, cooked poorly - chewy, and the portion was small (not that I wanted more of it). It did not taste homemade or really fresh. I was given horrible tap water at the bar, so had to order sparkling water. I was never asked how my meal was and the staff look tired and uncaring. I didn’t complain and should have but after a long day of work I just wanted eat it and then crash. Hotel staff were amazing and got me M&M’s, which were better than the dinner.

A
Aaron Scott

The wait staff is horrible for starters. They rarely check on their customers once they are seated. The breakfast itself was absolutely horrible and very overpriced. Later that evening I gave them a second chance and the service was worse. I waited for someone to take my drink order for longer than 10 minutes. It was obvious that they didn't want to serve me so I left.

J
Jen MacCormack

I was with a party of ten. Became dizzy 2.5h into the meal (service was slow) and wait staff refused to get me my check so I could leave. Was stuck there another 45 minutes. When I was visibly annoyed, wait staff became rudely defensive. Never coming back.

R
Ray Cunningham (Pyocha)

I hated everything about it. The service sucked, it was freezing the whole time, the food tasted weird, it felt stuffy, the lighting sucked, to pricy ( an 8 oz glass of soda is $5), they don't split checks, don't even give you a pen for the check, didn't understand anything on the menu. If you're ever in DC, STAY AWAY!!!

N
Nicole Serra

The service was abominable. After 40 min, we didn’t even have our drinks served or our orders taken. The food was heavy and oily and in the end gave both my husband and I severe nausea and diarrhea hours later. Do not recommend this place.

C
Chris Smalley

the place is classy. service is awful at the bar. visited 3x and every time been barely recognized and had to ask for my check 2 out of 3......so far. the managers need to stop gossiping with team and make sure they are focused on guests. I would hope table service was better. but never even tried

K
Klaus PW

The worst service I have experienced in the us. The bill was wrong and the tip already impudent in it. It was ordered a light beer for $ 7 but the most expensive beer charged. The supervisor's reaction was a shrug. The food was reasonably okay but has nothing to do with the original Italian cuisine. The service was very slow and uncoordinated and was done by 3 different people. My recommendation: go somewhere else!

M
Matthew Terebessy

I unfortunately had a pretty negative experience at Urbana today. It started off great; cheery hostess, prompt seating and friendly waiter got us coffee as we waited for friends. Unfortunately, the coffee was not very good, and was served with milk that had gone sour (there were chunks in it). Both cocktails we ordered were not particularly well made, and as a result we elected to try brunch somewhere else. The waiter was pretty rude about the whole thing, which I would have understood if the place was packed, and we were taking up a table. It was pretty empty, at 10:30 on a Sunday. That should tell you all you need to know about the quality of the brunch.
