Went there last night to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday and were very glad we chose this restaurant! Food was amazing, drinks were really good as well, and the staff was super nice. I highly recommend this restaurant, we can’t wait to go back.

My go-to spot whenever I’m in the area for business. The food is excellent and consistently great— you can never go wrong with the steak and fries. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the service. Vanessa, the manager, leads by example and goes above and beyond to ensure every guest has an outstanding experience. Her dedication is a big reason I keep coming back. Shoutout as well to Andy—two visits in a row and he’s been amazing. He’s genuinely kind and always spot-on with his drink recommendations and service.

Fantastic restaurant!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Andy, our wonderful server, made our evening even more special. He patiently explained the menu and recommended the delicious mushroom — an absolute must-try! Beyond the amazing salad, steak, and fries, this restaurant has a surprise waiting for you. We won’t spoil it (though other reviews might!), but trust us… you’ll most likely be delighted!

I had my birthday dinner here after coming a couple times before with my parents and I can say it’s the best steak frites I’ve had outside of Europe! Our server Andy took amazing care of our table, was super friendly and always ensured we had everything we needed. I can’t wait to bring more of my friends here!!

Like steak and fries? This is the place for you. With a very affordable fixed menue that starts you off with fresh rolls and butter , then comes the salad made to perfection with a delicious dressing. Then the steak and fries cooked to your liking with a little bit of secret house sauce. Just when we finished the server came and gave us a second serving. Another steak more fires more sauce!!! Perfection! Amazing. Staff is great and on top of service. Both indoor and outdoor dining was a bonus. Drinks on point! I def recommend checking this place out I k ow I will be back

Haven't been to this area for many years, Medium Rare was a wonderful experience, why? The weather was really comfortable and we had outdoor seating, oftentimes these two don't intersect. We are celebrating a friend, and what really topped everything off was the excellent service from Andy and Samantha, very personable genuine and just made everything great. I did enjoy the prix fixe menu. The steak was great, it comes in separate servings and it came with gravy, and fries. The salad was pretty stupendous, ingredients were fresh. I thought the value for the money was great for being in boston, something that I normally don't see, but what was also great was the location and sitting outside, it was all around a great experience and I will do it again.

Went here for weekend brunch and had a great meal. We enjoyed all the brunch options but agreed that the steak frites was the best choice. The chocolate cake was also incredible. Awesome deal to get unlimited brunch cocktails for 25 cents each. Our server Andy was great, will definitely be back!

Husband and I visited the restaurant during the week, was able to get seated right away without a reservation. There is free garage parking and street parking close by! Andy was our server for the evening, great customer service. Food was great for the price point. Will visit again! S/O Lucas the new OM! Congrats! 🍾

We had a fantastic experience at Medium Rare - from the ambience to the food - the setting was stunning, the salad was fresh and steak perfectly cooked, their exclusive cocktails SLAPPED. We definitely need to give a shout-out to Andy who served us - his genuineness really shined through. He was incredibly welcoming, super patient and was attentive all the way through. We can’t wait to be back here a second time around! 🥰

Opening night (12/16/24) was excellent. The host/hostess were welcoming and friendly- asking guests how they heard about the place and if they were local, etc. The menu is simple- $34.95 for steak (cooked to order) plus yummy rustic bread, salad and shoestring French fries. Oh- and some amazing secret sauce on the steak. Nice selection of wines- I enjoyed a cab. I was about half finished with my (rare) steak and a server stopped by and filled my plate with more steak and fries (complimentary second serving is standard). I knew there would be the need for a to-go box. I eyed the desserts at the next table- huge slices of chocolate and carrot cake. When I finished my steak, I struck up a conversation with the couple at the next table. They also couldn't decide on dessert. They ordered the carrot cake and I ordered chocolate cake- we asked for a few extra plates and shared so we could all try both. Maybe a bit unusual to share desserts with another table but it worked for us and the servers were very accommodating. Both cakes were amazing. I loved the limited menu- it makes the entire experience efficient. I was impressed with how smoothly everything went despite new staff and it being day 1. Chatted with several employees and everyone was friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back. Free surface and garage parking at Arsenal Yards.

It’s my first time trying this restaurant & I came in after work for a nice relaxing meal. Andy was our server and he made sure we had the best knowledge and experience about how Medium Rare works. I will definitely be coming back to try out their brunch menu! again thanks Andy for making us feel welcomed and for all the extra help!

Ive eaten here twice, and both times have been fantastic. The food is delicious, the service fantastic, and the atmosphere cozy. I highly recommend. Special shoutouts to my server Andy, who couldn't have been more attentive and kind., and to manager Samanth, who runs a tight ship.

Our server was Andy, he’s was super attentive and made our 2 hour brunch super fun and gave us crayons! The brunch menu was amazing. Got the steak and eggs with a side of french toast; steak at perfect temperature, fries crispy, and poached egg perfectly set. Their bread is very airy and light on the inside it makes a very nice french toast. Andy if u c this all 11 of us love u

I was hesitant to try this spot because of the limited brunch menu but I cannot say enough great things about the food and service. Andy was phenomenal. He was so attentive and took care of all of needs. $.25 mimosas for a Sunday brunch are unheard of in NC where I live. And, they were good! The bread basket that arrived at the table set the tone for the indulgence ahead. That was some of the best tasting bread with a nice crust and soft center. Forget counting carbs at this spot. After bread, you can choose among fresh fruit, a salad and a parfait. I had the parfait without the dried fruit and it was really good. Then came the main course; I chose the French toast and substituted eggs for the sausage. I cannot tell you how delicious the French toast was. Think beignets in New Orleans! Crispy on the outside and super soft and sweet on the inside. The scrambled eggs were also extremely good. When in the area, definitely try this spot for brunch!

Stellar cuisine. Vin the manager was excellent as well sharing the story of how medium rare began. Great cocktail, mocktail menu, wine and beer options. Will be back for brunch. Super cool getting bazooka gym surprise when check came. Brought us back to our childhoods.

We had Jakob as our server and he was so attentive and helpful! This was our first time here and he made the experience 10x better !! Also the food was delicious!! The sauce with the steak, the dressing for the salad, and a second plate of steak and fries for no extra cost? Yes please, will definitely be returning and plan on telling everyone I know about this! They even had a French recording in the restrooms teaching you phrases in French it was so funny !

Medium Rare is my favorite restaurant in DC, where the chain was founded. I was thrilled to hear they were coming to the Boston area, and thankfully this spot met my expectations. The food was prepared perfectly and tasted delicious. The staff was cordial and helpful. The space itself is on the small side, but I'm hoping they'll expand out onto the patio in the summer. It's a great place for an after-work get-together or family birthday dinner. Definitely looking forward to coming back frequently!

Came here on a Tuesday night with a friend. Our server Andy was so kind and quick. He checked in on us often but wasn’t too intrusive. Gave us great recommendations! The food and drinks were great! The steak was cooked to perfection and the cocktails were scrumptious. Would recommend coming here!

Loved the vibe here — the ambience is really nice and it’s a great spot for dinner. I’ve been to the Dallas location before and had a great experience there too, so it’s cool to see the quality stays consistent. The food is a great bang for your buck and the staff was amazing from start to finish. Highly recommend.

Where to start!!!!! I LOVE this place. I rave about this place. It is my absolute favorite restaurant and anyone who I talk to about it understands it is how I imagine people feel about Disney world. Tonight I was here for my birthday, since I always want to come here for special events. Andy was our server and he was phenomenal. The bread was warm and toasty, the steak, fries and sauce were all perfect, and the birthday sundae was out of this world. I loved the evening and can’t wait to come back.

Andy was amazing and so attentive! Honestly such a great person really made the experience better. Told us about the brunch menu and we’ll definitely be coming back for the 25 cent drinks with the brunch menu. If you go there ask for Andy 10/10 service. Also the drinks are so good and the food was yummy yummy yummy.

Saw this place on phantom gourmet and I had to try! It was delicious! Great price! Homemade bread to start, followed by salad, steak with shoestring fries and a secret sauce! Best part was you get a second plate for free! Even if you're not hungry, you can take that plate home! We also ended our meal with a piece of apple pie and a ice cream sundae! Both were amazing! Everything was so good, I forgot to take pictures!

Had the best time here on Saturday night!!! Juan took the best care of us and even gave us a delicious ice cream sundae!! The steaks were cooked perfectly but my favorite was the fries with the sauce. The bread and salads were also delicious, we ate that up in like 30 seconds. They also have a very good Diet Coke. Highly recommend to everyone, we had a great time!!

This place is super consistent, has fantastic service, and you know exactly what you're going to get for the price. Wine selection has lots of different varietals (mostly one of each grape). Our server Jordan V. was really lovely and attentive, without us feeling rushed. Be ready for your "second helping" (they split your steak and fries into two portions) so you feel like you're getting even more bang for your buck!

H
Heather Owen

Interesting concept. I definitely like the traditional sauce over the green sauce you get with a lot of steak frites around here. It’s a good place to go when you want a simple dinner. There’s nothing else available on the menu but you get seconds. The plate size is a little odd. I’m not sure why they don’t use full size plates for the main course. I’d go back

V
Vivien Tran

Fun experience, especially with the concept of getting seconds. Steak was good but nothing special. Fries were thin and crunchy which I enjoyed. Wish there was more meat though LOL

Visited on a Thursday evening. Free parking was available in the garage, which was convenient. If you decide to park outside of the garage, just be sure to double-check street signs and nearby lots—parking rules vary, and some spots are reserved for pickup or for Roche Bros customers. The restaurant was very quiet when we arrived, so my friend and I were seated immediately. The menu is prix fixe, including bread, salad, and steak with fries. You simply tell your server how you’d like your steak cooked. The bread was pretty basic. The salad was nicely dressed—light and even. The steak came thinly sliced with a flavorful sauce, and there was a generous portion of fries. It did feel like they were trying to fill you up mainly with fries. One thing to note: there's a two-serving limit per person for the steak and fries, which wasn’t clearly mentioned on the menu. My friend was still hungry after his two portions, so he ended up finishing what was left of mine. The portion might be fine for some, but for heartier appetites—especially with thinner cuts of meat—it may not be enough. Dessert was an apple pie served with vanilla ice cream, which was a nice way to end the meal. Overall: It was okay. Not somewhere I’d rush back to for dinner, but I might give it another shot during brunch to see if the experience is different.

Solid brunch deal. Was looking for a patio brunch spot in the area after walking our dog. Heard about this place quite a while ago about their fixed price brunch menu with bottomless drinks, so we decided to stop by. Their patio looked nice (and empty), and service was quick. Their brunch menu included a salad, an entrée, and bottomless drinks. Usually not impressed with fixed-price brunches, but this one wasn’t half bad. Portions were fairly small, so unless you’re content leaving a little hungry, you might want to get at least two drinks (mimosa & Bloody Mary). For entrées, we opted for the famous steak frites and the Benedict. Their “award-winning” steak was comically thin, but cooked right to medium-rare. The secret sauce on top seemed like a mix of au poivre sauce and some aioli, and I liked using it dip my fries. The beef and portobello hash Benedict was quite good. They used rustic French bread instead of the usual English muffin, so it was much better texture-wise. The beef hash was a bit aggressively seasoned and a tad dry but still enjoyable. Not sure if this is the kind of place I’d return for a good steak dinner, but might come back to get their brunch again.

Great service and location. Easy to park and shop. It’s nice to have just one option for dinner, but brunch is better with a couple more options and 25 cent mimosas. Fries were good and so was steak. Wish it had an option to at least choose the size of the steak.

M
Mike Nostrom

I was craving meat so I thought this would be a good choice. Atmosphere was nice. Not to loud. Christmas music playing. Service was exceptional. My waiter was present and attentive a bit fast talking though. I'm old. Didn't know I didn't have meat choices. Salad was excellent. Great flavor. Sourdough bread a butter were nice. Steak fries were excellent. The meat was okay. I'm not a fan of gravy on my meat. The cut of meat was hard to chew. Found myself just swallowing small bites vs chewing and enjoying. Price was reasonable since the provided you two courses, free 2nds! I was not prepared for that. Another chewy steak. Oh well. Probably wouldn't go again just cause of the single meat choice.

Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted warmly by the hostess, who sat us immediately. The restaurant is large, has a open kitchen and tables of all sizes. We were cheerfully greeted by our server shortly thereafter. He took our drink order and brought over warm and very crusty bread and a "house salad" to start he explained the Medium Rare dining concept. There is a fixed menu for which you determine how you prefer your steak cooked.

We went on a Monday evening in late July. It’s in a mixed use area with some hotels, apartments, and other restaurants. Parking in the garage is free. They have a prix fixe menu that’s $35 and includes bread, salad, and a steak with fries. We also had two beers and a sparkling water. The service was great, and the place was really modern. I enjoyed the steak , however the fries were frozen. If the only thing you’re going to serve steak frites, the fries should be fresh. Initially I was not impressed with the portion, however the price includes two servings. If they hadn’t given us the second serving, I would’ve given it a much worse review. I enjoyed the old school Bazooka Joe gum at the end, after our $113 bill. We had a good time at the restaurant, but we’re not planning to go back anytime soon.

Andy waited on us and probably saved the meal. He was very detailed in explaining the menu and checked in on us often. Definitely the type of staff you come back to an establishment for. However, the food. We went for brunch. For about $35-40 per person for a pre fixe bottomless brunch, it is only worth it if you drink. The portions are extremely small... so definitely fill up on bread. It's good bread by the way, crusty and airy. No one in my party had alcohol, so it was half portioned steak and fries for two in the party. We did not realize HOW SMALL the portions would be. We were warned, but we really didn't realize it would all be small enough to fit an appetizer plate. I will say though, the steak, the sauce, and the fries were ok.... even though we had to order another portion. Very thin steak, very soggy fries. One of the steaks was the vegan option (the portobello mushroom) and she felt it was aboslutely not worth the price tag for a single grilled mushroom and a handful of fries. She did say the sauce was fine though. I got the french toast. I don't know if it was just my order, but it was not good. At all. It's the same bread as the table bread and you get three half slices. They seem to deep fry it. It was so soaked in oil, like a sponge, so when I cut into it, my plate was just oil. Take a bite, it's a mouth full of bread and oil. To be clear, it was not the syrup. I cut it before i poured the syrup because it came covered in powered sugar. The sausage was good? Fine? it was a decent sausage! We tried all of the starters, the yogurt, salad, and fruit. The yogurt was the most worth it. I'm not sure we would go back with an empty stomach. If we do go back, might have to have a couple drinks. Again, Andy was really great. If you go, hope you get seated in his section. Explains everything really well, very friendly, and attentive.

Before I make this review, I want to acknowledge that the staff are amazing! Friendly and attentive. The service was definitely high class. The food on the other hand, was OK and just OK. A lot of positive reviews and referrals from friends, it was definitely high expectations. Compared to other steak facilities, this was fine. I would ask for their signature gravy on the side as it was definitely different. You do get seconds and and only one with your meal. Overall, I enjoyed the company of the staff. But the food, I could've have gotten better from other restaurants. For the cost, approximately $30+ per person, it's an only a one-time visit for me.

S

If the only thing on the menu is steak And there is no distraction for any other dishes you might expect a good steak This was a flat piece of disappointment The waiting staff was kind and fast (see note later) they did forgot to mention the dish comes in 2 servings. Why? As I rather have one good serving….. I assume they might have misunderstood our timing for the movies (benefit of the doubt) as they were quick to present our bill while I was still eating which I think was rather rude. We could argue if my medium steak was medium. But then it was so flat I wonder how to cook that medium. The salad was nice (although I prefer less dressing) . The bread was nice Cute little flowers on the table The gum with the check … no comment Overall a disappointing experience and we will not be back

S
Shalyn King

The steak med well was dry, the med rare was chewy. Its valentines day and probably why our experience was not up to par. We waited an hour with a reservation. (7:45 rez sat at 8:40) People cut the line would be sat before us (not blaming staff for other ppls behavior but check in reservations before just seating people— the whole line had reservations) We ordered a red wine to be served with the steak. The server came by after first round of steak and asked if we wanted that red wine. We said yes and it was forgotten. not a big deal. Then asked for check and sad we didn't that red wine. Told us she never put it in because we never said yes (but we did tho). Are the waiters not allowed to write down orders? She forgot the table next to ours sangria as well.

Went to Medium Rare for the first time last night and while I don't normally leave reviews I feel like I need to this time. THE STAFF AT THIS RESTAURANT SERIOUSLY NEEDS FOOD ALLERGY TRAINING. Went here for my son's birthday and all seemed well at first. Service was a little slow throughout the meal but not awful probably would have been my only complaint until we got to dessert. I asked what they had for dessert and the waiter gave me a verbal list. He never gave us a menu so we could see the details of the dessert and he never at any point during the meal asked if anyone had an allergy. Well, the ice cream sundae I ordered showed up and while I'm eating it I bite into a walnut which I AM ALLERGIC too. I caught the waiter's attention and let him know the situation and he ran off "to talk to someone." He did not return to the table for a while. When he came back he offered to bring the bill and I asked him why he had run off and his response was "I don't know why but I ran off to see if we had an epipen." This was absolutely THE WORST possible response I've ever seen to a situation. Luckily my allergy is mild and I only spent the rest of the evening scratching itchy hives and groggy from Benadryl. It could have been much worse. I was SHOCKED that the waiter never offered to have the dessert remade without the allergen. They didn't offer to take it off the bill. He did NOTHING except freak out and run away. I wasn't able to consume the dessert I paid for which was really unfortunate. Luckily, my kids don't share my allergy and were able to enjoy it. This absolutely ruined what was an otherwise pleasant meal and birthday celebration. Not sure if I'll bother to give them a second chance. In my opinion, it's not if someone makes a mistake because they will. The important part is how they respond and this restaurant responded very poorly.
