When there for our New Years day dinner after our first option burnt down and happily we're glad we went here. The waitress was quick and prompt. The first round of drinks came out quickly and were strong. The bread cheese appetizer tasty with the flair of burning at the table. I had their special of the day, and the steak came out perfectly as requested. I would suggest it for special occasions with a loved one for sure. But plan on spending some serious cash also. Will definitely go again.

We have dined here many times over the last 2 years - dinner, happy hour, lunch. And every time, it is consistently fantastic. The food is always delicious and I love how they change the menu up from time to time. We always get fresh oysters because it’s hard to find them in the Milwaukee area. The servers are always amazing and accommodating. Highly suggest you try it if you never have!

This is a destination for me when working in the Milwaukee area. Upscale, safe area, shopping and, bonus, it’s in the Renaissance- Marriott!! I love the food and beverages here!! The chef, bartender and staff are on point- top on my list for flavor, variety, presentation, prompt food delivery. My dinner server, Alyssa, she’s a a rare find, they are lucky to have her. Also the morning breakfast manager and there evening hotel check in folks are incredibly friendly and went above and beyond for me. My stay was Oct 30-31 so if these associates can be recognized for their service, they deserve it.

Had a wonderful experience bellying up to the beautiful bar and enjoying appetizers and drinks at Eldr+Rime yesterday. On a frigid day the environment was warm and cozy. Service was on point! The Ahi Tuna Tartare was a delicious and balanced dish. Favorite drinks of the night were the Lavender Gimlet and Hot Honey Margarita. Will definitely be back!

This place was absolutely amazing! The Alaskan halibut with roasted asparagus was perfectly cooked and incredibly delicious. My friends tried the crab, lamb, and duck, and every dish was beautifully prepared. The desserts were not only stunning but also a delight to eat! The drinks were outstanding expertly crafted and beautifully presented. My friends couldn't stop raving about how wonderful they tasted. The flaming cheese and Brussels sprouts were showstoppers, adding both flair and flavor to the meal. If you're looking for Scandinavian cuisine, this restaurant is a must-visit! If you have celiac disease, I highly recommend dining here. The chef is fantastic at accommodating dietary needs, and they'll work with you to create meals that are both safe and satisfying. A huge thank you to the chef and manager who made our experience so memorable. We're already looking forward to coming back soon to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you for such an incredible dining experience! I am back again December 12/15/86 I loved it once again , I uploaded more photos of the food. I'm celiac this place listens and accommodates all health needs! I left with no stomach issues and an amazing dish in my belly! Thank you Jose!

My wife and I celebrated our 1-year wedding anniversary here, and we absolutely loved it! Although we arrived a little later than our reservation time, the staff was very accommodating. We had to order a bit faster, but it wasn’t an issue at all. The food was incredible—everything tasted perfect! We enjoyed our drinks, appetizer, and entrées, all of which were top-notch. Our waiter was not only friendly but also impressively quick with the drink refills! The atmosphere inside was stunning, creating the perfect vibe for a special evening. To top it all off, we were served a delicious flourless chocolate cake that was out of this world. I’d definitely recommend this place for any special occasion! Thank you for making our anniversary unforgettable.

Was invited here for a staff dinner with 6 other people and had a wonderful experience. Our server was extremely attentive and always available. The food arrived quickly for the quality and not to mention it looked beautiful. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the music wasn’t too loud. Plenty of space between tables. Love that the sides are shareable (unless you’re really hungry haha). Overall, I was very pleased and I hope to be back someday.

Went there with a group and then for a date night recently. The food was great and so was the service. Loved the salmon three ways and the halibut. My friend really like the chicken too.

First time here. We will be back 🙃 Annalise was the best! Food was great - love the Scandinavian influence, the detail, and space! The salmon was on point ❤ I love anything cloudberry so that was a pleasant surprise. The drinks were great as well...I see the negative reviews on here..not my experience... we will be back. We came with no reservation on a Saturday night around 700p and were able to find seating in the bar area. Covid conscious space with appropriate precautions.

Had a great dinner at Eldr + Rime on a Thursday night. Food and service was excellent. Great decor! I really enjoyed my Halibut meal with a Thai sauce. I would highly recommend for a special dinner or occasion.

Eldr+Rime is Old Norse for Fire and Ice. The name is spoken as "Elder and Rhyme". The name is a play on their style of food preparation. You will find a variety of charred and smoked items on the menu to represent the Fire. Alongside these items the menu showcases the Ice part with raw and chilled menu items. We were a party of four, my 22 year old son and his girlfriend who were visiting from college, along with my wife and I. The ambience is nice and relaxed. We were seated immediately on this particular Saturday evening. The waitress, Gracie' was a pleasure. She was very attentive, but without being intrusive when we were talking. The food was quite excellent. All of our steaks were actually prepared the way they were requested, a rare feat! We did not have dessert. All in all, we will likely be back with friends when we want an upscale meal.

I came on a Friday night around happy hour and found a spot at the bar. The bartender Ethan was absolutely lovely, very attentive, and made us amazing cocktails. The food was fantastic and quick. My husband and I came here for our Anniversary and we're completely blown away by the food and the ambiance. We had the Bread Cheese and Hawaiian Prawns to start (not pictured) and both were superb!! Never tasted anything like that cloudberry jam and we just want more!!! We had the Bramble and the Old Fashioned drinks first, both were fantastic!!! The presentation for that old fashioned was nothing like we have seen before!!! Then we had the Filet Mignon and the Pork Schnitzel with the Glacial Martini and the Birch Sour. Everything was phenomenal, the service was top notch and we are 100% coming back again and again. Thank you for making this Anniversary a memorable one!

I had breakfast here. We ordered French toast and eggs and bread. The baked potato’s that came along were out standing. French toasts had a hint of vanilla came with Wisconsin maple syrup and butter and tasted goat!! Will definitely go again for dinner or lunch

Hands down my favorite restaurant in Wauwatosa. The food and drinks are delicious, and they have been accommodating to food allergies. It is finally something unique in the area. They used to do an Around the World dinner, which I absolutely loved! I wish they would bring that back.

My best friend took me out for dinner for my birthday and we had an amazing time. It was both our first time and surely we weren’t disappointed. They sit us right away. It was not crowded when we first got there. This was on a Tuesday night. We ordered some cocktails, appetizer, and the menu’s special of the night. Oh boy! Everything was so tasty, carefully prepared and cooked. And yet, I don’t understand why it’s rated 3.8 stars. Overall, service, food, and drinks were great! All the facilities were well taken care of. Beautiful place.

Great space, atmosphere, and service! We had a flight of dinner items including their brussel sprouts, truffle burger, and steak. Each was fantastic and service was quick! Not pictured, but the Reykr old fashioned was also smoked and presented fashionably. Would recommend for a nicer date night or event.

I stayed the night at the hotel and got a breakfast ticket for the restaurant. Although the menu was small, the items were all perfect. I got the breakfast tacos, and they were delicious. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The chorizo was flavorful, and the sauce on the side added a fantastic extra touch. The breakfast tacos came with a potato chorizo scramble, avocado, pickled jalapeno, crema, and salsa. I didn’t end up using the salsa, but the crema was just enough.

My mom and I went here for dinner spontaneously when Cheesecake Factory had over an hour wait. We were really hungry so walked over to Eldr Rime and our whole experience was fantastic. The servers and host were very kind. The food was incredible. The drinks were unique and very tasty. We will for sure be going back.

Love this restaurant! Upscale with a local feel as I live in a neighboring suburb (Brookfield). Its location is convenient. Reservations are always made online and we're typically seated immediately upon arrival. Perfect date night spot for a couple or group of friends. Booths are spacious and comfortable and equipped with throw pillows. Some of my favorite dishes include the lamb chops, fillet, wild asparagus and the mac n cheese. Drinks are good. Ambiance is moody, modern and calm. The wait staff is always prompt, polite and attentive. Love that this establishment is clean! Typical bill with appetizers, drinks, entrees, sides and a Tip for two is about $200. Beyond worth it!

Eldr + Rime is an absolute gem for elevated dining in Wauwatosa! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and cozy — upscale yet inviting. We were seated in a semi-circular booth adorned with pillows, which added an extra level of comfort and charm to the experience. The food was phenomenal. I ordered the hummus appetizer and a reasonably priced special that absolutely exceeded expectations. The flavors were incredible, and the quality coming out of the kitchen is top-tier. Prices are more than fair, especially considering the attention to detail and delicious execution. I still have leftovers I can’t wait to finish after writing this — that’s how good everything was! I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommend for a relaxed but refined night out.

We went there for Valentine’s with our baby and we were treated so well from front door to check out. Juan was our server and he rocked it, let us feel right at home. About the food: We had shrimp cocktail and truffle burger and all was great (though my hamburger was a little too cooked for my taste). The beer selection is awesome.

My family and I visited the restaurant for a very special occasion—my sister’s 40th birthday. We were a party of 15. I originally made the reservation for 13, but two additional guests joined us at the last minute. When we arrived, the host was very friendly and accommodated us immediately. Although our visit was back in August, I wanted to take the time to write this review because we were truly happy and grateful for the way the entire team made us feel. We felt comfortable, welcomed, and very well taken care of. Several people in our group do not speak English, yet the host, our waitress, and even Chef Jose Gonzalez made every effort to ensure we felt at ease, as if we were dining in our own home. The restaurant is spacious and perfect for large groups like ours, and some of our guests had never visited a restaurant of this level before. We usually host big celebrations at home, so this was a special experience. Our waitress was patient and explained the menu in detail when we had questions. Chef Jose Gonzalez also prepared an amazing hot salsa for our table after someone asked if they had hot salsa. He and his team did an outstanding job with all of our dishes. Despite it being a busy Saturday night, Chef Jose Gonzalez still took the time to come to our table and greet us, which meant a lot. Thank you, Chef Gonzalez, and thank you to all the staff who made our visit on August 23rd, 2025, so memorable. We truly appreciate your hospitality!

My wife and I have eaten here at least a dozen times and it’s excellent each time. It is our go to date night dinner spot once/twice a month. It’s nice to see the same servers each time, so you can tell they are treated well if they are sticking around. We’ve never had any issues with food. I however do wish there was some sort of dress code. It’s a beautiful restaurant, and we love to get dressed nice and have the whole experience, but several times we’ve been enjoying our meal and people walk in with jeans, sneakers and hoodies. The most recent time a group of dads and their kids, maybe 4 adults and 4 kids walked in, sat at the table near the bar right across from our booth and were all so loud, playing on gaming devices, then they ordered McDonald’s to be delivered to them in the restaurant! If I’m paying $200-$300 per visit I expect the atmosphere to be sophisticated. I truly believe a dress code needs to be enforced and some sort of policy on kids/outside food.

Happy hour review. Good oysters, very good shrimp cocktail, generous flatbread. Oysters do not come with mignonette sauce which I prefer and has become rather standard. The shrimp comes with cocktail sauce and horseradish mousse. Tiny dabs of each make it sing. The flatbread is a meal by itself, like a personal pizza. The mushroom toppings are delightful. The homemade foccacia gets a nice edge in the woodfired oven but is on the thick side. Service is mostly very good, but on a recent visit when the bar was not busy the young male server was on his phone instead of serving people (big no-no) and not knowledgeable about menu. Bar seats not comfortable but booths available. Lots of business travelers unwinding with laptops and the lighting is very dim. $6 glasses fairly good wine rotating daily special in addition to cab sauv and chardonnay. Overall, highly recommend.

Steak seafood fancy restaurant. Lovely Emily was our staffer. Was not crowded on Wednesday night. It’s like business casual but because it’s part of a hotel, you really could wear anything. We went for our anniversary, and it did not disappoint. Food is excellent, highly recommend you check out the menu before you go. I had the duck stirfry with a 7 ounce New York steak. Hubby had the salmon. We had an extra side of grilled asparagus was amazing. I appetizer was garlic shrimp, so buttery. There is a lovely bar area, a outdoor area that’s available winter or summer.

We came in for a Saturday brunch around 11:45 AM (made a reservation on OpenTable ahead of time). There was an employee who clearly saw us walk in and waiting to be seated but did not greet or acknowledge us 😬 Service after we were seated was better! We got the Royal Bloody Mary as a starter and ordered the King Crab Benedict (potatoes were AMAZING) & Blueberry French Toast. Large serving sizes so these were perfect for sharing.

My wife and I went to ELDR + RIME for our anniversary and came away quite satisfied. The only reason I'm giving it four stars rather than five is I do think the average person will likely find the menu a little too expensive. I did not, I ordered the 38oz tomahawk and it measured up even to its lofty price, the best steak I've ever had. The chef knows how to perfectly cook a valuable cut and attach flavors that accentuate but don't overpower the meat, which can be a challenge when you roast whole peppers. We shared the bread cheese, which I highly recommend. It's a great grilled appetizer and is served with a small cast iron pot of cheese that's set on fire at the table. The taste meets the spectacle. My wife had the fish and chips, the simplest entree on the menu, but enjoyed it. The beer batter adds a nice sweetness other beer battered fish I've tried don't have. The lighting is dimmed but adequate, a great mood setter for an anniversary dinner, and the restaurant is open enough that conversation is easy. These folks believe in their food and it tastes excellent. Some negative things I've read in reviews can be somewhat explained by a restaurant opening immediately before a pandemic followed by a hiring crisis, they deserve some consideration when it comes to wait times. We did not experience any delays in service on a Tuesday evening and the staff was all helpful and courteous. We plan on coming back!

Price and portion was surprisingly good. The truffle, as well as the brie and prosciotto flatbreads were delicious and tremendously flavorful. Which made it a surprise when the truffle burger was lacking in comparison. The mac n cheese was superb, easily one of the best I have ever had. I look forward to trying the tomahawk steak in a future visit. Our server Emily was excellent, and did something wonderful that no other server in over thirty years of great dining has ever done. Consider yourself lucky if she serves you. All and all, fantastic!

We dined on Christmas Eve and the big draw for us this night was the Facebook posts that said special chefs items and drinks. We arrived at our table and saw there was a pretty small menu instead and server said that there were no specific specials just this modified menu…. Tried a few drinks and they were all horrible. Bartender can’t make drinks here. Didn’t know how to make a martini at all and served in a gimlet cup. Food was good but server forgetful. Never brought a bread basket to us. Took forever to refill water. Never came by to ask how food is. Didn’t try to upsell to us. Nice atmosphere but having your staff wear ugly Christmas sweaters on that evening was horribly tacky. Was not cute to us. Looked cheap at an upscale place. Next year tell staff to wear red or green that’s it. the food we did order was good. Our first time here, it was about a 6/10, service needs work!

Went here for dinner with friends, and only had an ok experience. Our reservation was at 7:00, and our main courses weren't served until 8:20. This was after we had to tell the waitress we wanted a starter, and those dishes weren't cleared from the table for quite a while. I ordered two Margarita Picantes, and each tasted totally different. The first lacked the heat I expected, while the second tasted just as I expected. Our entrees overall were not served hot, although the Roasted New Potatoes side was. Two steak filets were ordered medium, and one came out medium rare while the other was well done. The Duck Stir Fry, although flavorful, did not look like what I had seen other diners post pictures of. The presentation was pretty basic. Too, we saw our waitress take the orders back to the kitchen after she had initially set them down near our table to be served so the kitchen could add the final touch of seasoning. When we got our bill, our waitress charged us for an extra Duck Stir Fry dish, which she removed after we brought it to her attention. While the atmosphere here was pretty, sound did carry, making it a little noisy. Still, you could hear each other speak. It seems to me that after reading other reviews, this place is pretty much a hit or miss. Unfortunately for my visit, it was more of a miss.

Upon arrival you’re greeted by a friendly and warm staff, large sculptures and open concept designs. It’s quite inviting, with the large windows with plenty of natural lighting for selfies and food pics. We ordered the brisket burrito if I’m not mistaken and French toast. The burrito was well cooked but lacked the shot flavor I was expecting, however with hot sauce or any sauce that has a Mexican flair will do the trick. The French toast wasn’t to die for, but it wasn’t bad. The wait staff had great, very informative so it made up for the food that was just “okay”. In all, despite the food not really wowing my taste buds I would definitely go back for drinks and the cool atmosphere.

We arrived at 650pm...had reservations at 7pm. We were not even properly greeted...guy just said....can I help you...no Hello! Welcome or nothing! I think you could fair much better with a better more enthusiastic host/hostess! First impressions mean a lot and should be expected for a place like this! We were "told" to go to the bar and wait...?? I asked for a glass of Moscato and was told they didn't serve it.. um ok? Anyway it was 715 when hubby finally went to the host and reminded him we had reservations at 7....he said our table was ready now. Our booth was very nice and cozy with pillows which was fun! The atmosphere and smell of the Wood fire is very very nice. We ordered another drink....amazingly tho... now they had Moscato...? How very odd! Anyway...ordered the charcuterie board...$22.. there was no fruit like grapes or anything or nuts either... Service was still very slow but we tried not to mind and just enjoy the atmosphere. We finally ordered...we ordered a $42 filet and hubby ordered the Tomohawk steak. It was a very very long wait....we finally noticed his steak sitting up by the kitchen warmer waiting to be picked up and delivered to us....it sat there forever...finally she delivered our food.. and low and behold it's cold...a $115 steak...cold...so we called over the waitress and told her it was cold so she took it back and apparently the chef warmed it up.. but..now a med rare $115 steak just went to a dry medium steak...with no flavor. My hubby was so excited to come here for his bday.....which was also noted on our reservations...so...the whole experience was pretty disheartening. When I asked to speak to the manager he apologized but tried to blame it on a glitch you were having that night with your computer system...? Seriously? Sorry...but when you send food back it's not because of a glitch in a computer system! Not acceptable! That waitress should have been falling over it making sure it was warmed up and returned to the customer immediately! Instead she was no where to be found! We even saw the chef set it back under the warmer again! The waitress literally disappeared from site. Never came back to check on us after all of this! We finally had to waive her over to get the check.. adjusted of course for an inedible $115 steak! I hope this is a teaching moment....never blame "poor service" on a computer glitch and be more attentive to your customers especially if you consider yourselves a "high end " dining experience! If you want to use all those $$$ in your reviews please live up to the expectations and experiences the customer is going to assume! We won't be back....sorry.. 5 o'clock steakhouse is still #1 in our book!

Cute place and nice drinks. Raw oysters aren’t as good as other oyster places…. but the cooked oysters are delicious. Reason for the 3 star is the small portions for the expensive premium price. You will leave still hungry.

Atmosphere is nice and comfy. Wait staff was friendly and accommodating when present. Food was alright, but not nearly good enough to justify the prices associated. Also, the theming of the restaurant is confusing and the menu isn't great. Hostess may have been new or needs better training. If food was priced about 20%-25% less this might be worth another go. As it stands, I don't feel compelled to recommend it or to go back.

Food fell short. The hostess Tinaya (sp?) was very nice and was able to take my to-go order. I really wanted to like this place based on the decor and presentation of everything. The burger was tough to chew and the fries could dry up a slug!! Salty!!

My boyfriend and I were here on 10/9/21, the restaurant is beautiful. The ambiance is nice… the food. Absolutely not. We got the potato dumplings and the baked cheese bread as an appetizer. The potato dumplings were bland and tasted like air/wet cardboard. The “crème fresh” was just a smear in the dish, not even enough to add to any part of the three dumplings. It comes with basically 1/2 tsp of the strawberry jam. The baked cheese bread was a nice presentation, but lacked any sort of flavor. The bread was plain and tasteless, the cheese was weird and hard, but it’s supposed to be baked and also was set a flame. The cloudberry jam was delicious. For our entrees we got the filet Oscar (keep in mind the market value right now is $58, the price is not an issue) and the artisan gemelli with the shrimp add on. The gemelli was over cooked and mushy. The shrimp was not seasoned and rubbery. There was no flavor in the entire dish, which came to a shock considering the ingredients. The amount t of salt in the dish was astounding. I couldn’t even finish it. It was vile. Now for the filet Oscar. It was laughable. It was, again, not seasoned, at all! It tasted like nothing, the “king crab” was two little slivers of crab. I don’t understand the amount of money they charge for this dish. All in all, this is not an upscale restaurant. You can get the same quality food at Applebees. We won’t be back. Don’t waste your money when you can go to another great restaurant in the Milwaukee area. The food has zero flavor and the only “flavor” came from mass amounts of salt. We ended up going to McDonald’s.

The service was great and the restaurant looks so nice! But the food was really bad. The appetizers of tuna tartar and bread cheese was good! But the entrees were not. My husband got the filet- it was definitely not a filet cut it looked and tasted like a sirloin, and very low quality at that. Like an aldis brand meatloaf. I got the sea bass and the fish was definitely frozen, which is unfortunate because I really wanted to like it. It tasted and felt like frozen cod. For $38 it also didn’t come with a side just a squash sauce. For the price it was very low quality.

The level of disrespect I received today is unacceptable. Marina our server was extremely rude. We didn’t get greeted until 15 minutes after we sat down. She walked past us several times so I didn’t think she was our server. There were three tables that were occupied at brunch time. She was not busy enough to treat us as if we didn’t exist. I was floored when I asked her for more peppers on the side. She didn’t get them right away but Marina made it a point to put her finger in my bowl to show me that it had two peppers in my dish. Needless to say I was beyond upset that I even had to move her hand out of my dish. Food is okay but not good enough to be treated with such level of disrespect. The manager took it off the bill but failed to talk to Marina about the situation. I didn’t come for disrespect and free food. Definitely won’t be back. Beautiful dish but one employee ruined it.

Customer service needs improvement. Staff aren’t proactive. There wasn’t a hostess when I walked in or signage to direct me where to go or whether I should wait to be seated. The bartenders were pretty much off in their own world, not very attentive. Had one drink, and decided to just leave. I had dinner here before and it was alright.

I dined at this place last night, and while the food was decent, the service was a different story. There were two servers at the bar, but they seemed completely oblivious to the customers. My water and wine glasses went unrefilled, and the server appeared indifferent to our needs. The overall lack of attention was frustrating, and I definitely won’t be returning. I can understand how they managed to earn a four-star rating, but honestly, the service is truly lacking.

Came during lunch on a Monday. Place was empty aside for three others. Waited to be sat, no one came so we sat ourselves. Still no one came so we grabbed our own menus (I know I know, we should have taken a clue and left then). Another 5 minutes passed and no one came, just walked past talking to each other. After another minute or two, we left. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Came here to celebrate engagement. Ambiance was great, but service was underwhelming, maybe 3 tables on a Sunday night. Food was awful and overpriced. Ordered a $70 steak medium rare and it came out well done, sent it back and they sent it back out rare. Server was nice and comped our dessert. $150 bill for two, terrible food.

I took my son here to celebrate his birthday, and unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. We arrived about an hour before our reservation and were told it was fine to be seated early, which we appreciated. However, after placing our drink and food orders, we ended up waiting nearly an hour before the food finally arrived. When it did, the quality didn’t match the expectations. My son ordered his steak medium-well, but it was served well-done—dry, overcooked, and tasting almost burnt. My crab fried rice was also overly salty. While the atmosphere was pleasant and our waitress was friendly, the service was lacking overall she only checked on us twice during the entire visit. Given the long wait, poor food quality, and inattentive service, I unfortunately don’t plan to return.

Zero customer service. Both Bartender were short and very rude this evening. Waited 15 minutes for drinks and it wasn’t even busy. Then we sat to eat and serve was okay. Now the food, cold pizza and rest of it wasn’t worth the price. We came to celebrate a birthday, never again. We were here for 2 hours and wish I could get back that time. Felt likely the staff treats customers as a burden. Thank goodness we had good company with our group. We all agree, they should really replace the rude staff or retrain them. I would go any where but here, even if you are staying at the hotel. Save yourself the torcher of rude serve and subpar food. I see why you have to add gratuity. With terrible service I’m sure a lot of customers don’t tip.
