Opinions de Com Tam Thanh Westminster
For Com Tam (broken rice), there is no better place in terms of quality and taste. The only stipend is that this place is expensive and the portions are smaller compared to others around. This place is so good. I've been going here for years with my family since I was a kid. My usual dish is the combo 8 - com tam thit nuong with bi, cha, and ta hau ky. Com Tam is rice that's made from short grain rice, Bi is dried shredded pork skin, cha is a delicious egg cake made with vermicelli, ground pork, egg, and mushrooms, and ta hau ky is shrimp cake wrapped with fried tofu skin. You get complimentary soup and it's eaten with a sweet fish sauce that's poured over the rice. Bon appetit!
The yummiest Vietnamese pork chop on rice restaurant imo. Been going for over a decade and the food is consistently delicious and made right. Their #31 combo is a great start fit anyone wanting to try this dish because it has a bit of everything. BBQ pork chop, BBQ shrimp, etc is where their flavor really stands out, so try these first before moving on to other dishes. Take out is convenient and there's enough food typically for 2 meals in a combo (1 meal if you're very hungry or eat a lot each meal). Like most restaurants in Bolsa Ave, cash is king, so bring enough. Prices going up, $5 Vietnamese coffee, #31 combo $14.75.
Been here twice because of the Banh Canh (vietnamese udon). Nice restaurant & decent size. Wait time is very short with good customer service. I ordered pork knuckle udon (banh canh gio heo) twice when I ate here. The broth is sweet & flavorful. I love how they garnished the dish with deep fried pork skin. Reminded me a lot when I was in Vietnam. My husband had broken rice (com tam) #4 which was huge & tasty. Price is super affordable. Will definitely come back whenever I visit OC.
This is one of my favorite place in Orange County for broken rice everytime I visit. They used to take cash only, but I’m glad they take card now last time I went. The rice dish always comes with the soup and delicious fish sauce. The place is authentic when it’s always packed with Vietnamese aunties and uncles. The restaurant is big, nice and clean.
No frills broken rice restaurant. I always go for the bbq pork chop, fried egg, and fried shrimp tofu. Less than $10 a plate and the food comes out quick. You dont need to speak viet to order, just point at the pictures to build your own broken rice plate.
Very good vietnam restaurant. Special place to eat cơm tấm.
Even it's hard to find a parking space. But the food is great.
I usually go here if I'm craving bo luc lac or bun thit nuong. Relative to other home-style Vietnamese restaurants, the quality of the food here is a lot nicer and the staff are pretty quick to get the food out. Cash only, but there is an ATM.
It taste so good that i want to go everyday and the chicken is so flavorful
Tried Com Tam Xaigon but they werr full so we tried here! Food was delicious and lots of it - so really happy that we tried it!
Absolutely GREAT food. Wonderful and quick service, don't be fooled by any sort of line outside of the building, they serve you quickly and provide healthy portions. Knowledge on Vietnamese cuisine is recommended so that you don't spend a lot of time looking over the menu as they have many variations of one single dish (tons of add on's each given their own menu item #). Their deserts are fantastic, particularly the three bean pudding. Definitely recommend, I believe it is cash only.
This is one of my favorite restaurants- Love their broken rice dishes. Grilled chicken with shrimp moussline is my go-to. Crispy egg roll appetizer is delicious as well. As for drinks, the Vietnamese iced coffee is great, though I let the ice melt for an hour or two before I drink it because it is very strong. The lemonade is also a good choice. Bring cash as they are cash-only.
Quick easy meal. They gave us their food in less than 5 minutes from ordering because everyone else already had their food at other tables. We ordered 2 to eat there and 1 to-go. The com tam there with steamed eggs and pork meat is delicious. They are always busy there so make sure to come earlier to allow wait time. Will come back again. We usually like to order to-go from this place which they also do.
This place specializes in rice dishes. The pork chops are just like the way my Mom makes. Clean table. Clean restroom. Fast and customer friendly. Reasonably priced.
Can’t say about atmosphere or service because I’m used to the way food is served in Vietnam, so I have no complaints. This is the place for cơm tấm! I’ll come here again and again just for one dish.
Thanh Restaurant! I love this place! My family loves this place. We keep coming back every time we come to so cal. The com thit nuong n steamed egg is amazing . The bbq pork grilled is juicy n just the perfect texture n taste. Deep in flavor n the little fat they keep on the meat is just the way I love it. N one plate is under $8 bucks #24 on the menu! So check it out next time you are in the Santa ana area. Plus the food comes out real quick!
Vietnamese serves broken rice dishes with different meat toppings. One can select beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, eggs, and combination of two to three type of meats. Very delicious for vietnamese or if you like broken rice.
Little Saigon staple needs to marketing or advertising or deals it's just great com tam. Been coming here since I was a kid and 20 years later I take my family here now too so should you
The only place you should go for Com Tam! The food is always consistent. Still tastes the same in the 15 plus years I've been coming here. The workers are used to the constant orders so they work fast and helpful too. I don't eat inside too often, but the place always looks clean and has a homey feel to it.
Been coming here since I was a wee lad. The owner is still there and food is consistently good from childhood to grown adult
My go-to spot when I’m feeling Com Tam! Service is quick and courteous, which comes at a surprise at a busy spot like this! The portions are perfect and the side of soup they give you hits the spot. You can’t go wrong with the grilled beef (thit nuong) but they’re known mostly for their grilled pork chop (suong nuong). 12pm is the lunchtime rush on the weekends so if you come any later, expect a 15-30 minute wait; it’s worth the wait though!
Broken rice and vermicelli meals were good. Priced well. Food was ready for takeout in less than 5 minutes! Iced Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk was excellent, one of the top I've had. It's strong and the coffee flavor is strong. I would suggest adding water and diluting it, which will get more volume out of it.
This is still the best broken rice (com tam) in the Little Saigon area, if you know a better place please let me know. The portion is enough and reasonable for the price. There are a variety of meats and items to chose for a rice dish so take your time with the menu if it's your first time here. The fish sauce is watered down and sweetened so you don't have to worry much about the strong taste of original fish sauce. They have a shared lot with plenty of parking at dinner time.
Grew up going to this place — the taste is super consistent and very yummy. My family’s go to spot for com tam. They also take cards now ($1 fee for <$25, no fee >$25). Fast service and easy. Parking is a bit hectic depending on the time.
Very nice people who own this restaurant, the food is fantastic, I wish I could have ordered more, I will definitely eat here when I'm in the area
I ordered the Bun Thit Nuong here not expecting a lot, but I was very pleased with the way the fish was presented and just how fast it was prepared. Moreso than that, the thing that truly blew me away was the taste. I had never had Bun Thit Nuong this delicious before in my life. The other dishes here are sure to please as well, but I could not have been happier with the one I picked.
Save your money by placing your order through phone order directly with the restaurant. The owner advised me to do so after I asked why why online / GrubHub prices were so high (by about 20%!). The staff here welcomes phone orders and are very polite people. Food is always authentic tasting. I only order to go and it is my mother's fave com tam dishes (and she is an awesome cook).
10/10, some of the best Vietnamese food out there Great portions Could eat for breakfast lunch and dinner!!! Get the com Tâm and thank me later!
Ngon! 😋🍚 I consider it to be one of the best places in OC for cơm tấm! Although the restaurant is known for its broken rice dishes, the menu also offers a wide range of other items like vermicelli items and soups. * Cơm Tấm Tàu Hủ Ky Bò Nướng Dồi: 9/10 - everything was freshly made and the portions were decently sized Be sure to bring cash because they don't accept cards or Apple Pay! The prices are a bit high, but the portions are a lot bigger than the other places I've been to. The interior is a bit small, but it is capable of fitting a decent number of tables and customers. The workers are always very nice, and the food comes out almost instantly. Everything is great except for the fact that they're located in Liberty Square Plaza, which is known for being very packed usually. One of our favorite places to eat at! ☺️
Don't you EVER let ANYONE tell you that Com Tam Thanh isn't the BEST com tam in California. I've been coming to Com Tam Thanh since I was a little boy. Nothing hits the same as Com Tam Thanh. I don't know what they put in their food, but I never get ngan. I will keep shoveling the rice in my mouth even if I am full. I can perfectly picture how each ingredient and topping taste in my mind. The scallion oil. The egg on top. The juicy grilled pork. Bi. Cha. Tau hu ky. The nuoc mam with just a hint of spice to it. The little crunchy bits of fried pork fat scattered throughout your plate. How every individual grain of rice feels on your tongue. It's perfect. I had it yesterday and the leftovers for lunch today and I STILL want to eat it again tomorrow.
Really well done. Com tam is usually a safe choice on any Vietnamese restaurant menu, but this place kicks it up a notch. You know it has to be good when a whole restaurant is named for one specific dish. Even if you don’t want com tam, their other selections are just as good. Service is great.
Pretty fast service. Food was really good, large portions. We had the Cơm Tấm Chá (Broken Rice with Vietnamese meatloaf) and Rice Noodles with Lemongrass Tofu
Super friendly, seems family owned, food was fantastic and the atmosphere was very nice. Everyone really liked the dishes we had and we will definitely be back.
Good Vietnamese broken rice. Had the vegetable with fried tofu. No soy bases product so no aftertaste. Overall, good flavor food, and very fun and polite service. Restaurant is clean. Price is good.
I’ve visited Com Tam Thanh a couple times with family, and it’s become one of our go-to spots for Vietnamese broken rice. While it doesn’t quite reach the level of the best I’ve had in Vietnam, it’s still very solid by Little Saigon standards, especially for a casual meal. I usually order the Cơm Tấm Sườn, Chả, Nem, Tàu Hủ Kỳ, and the combination is well-executed. The grilled pork chop (sườn) is flavorful with a light char and tender texture. The egg meatloaf (chả) is moist and seasoned just right. The shrimp paste wrapped in bean curd (tàu hủ kỳ) adds a crispy contrast, and the nem (cured pork roll) has good balance without being overly tangy. The rice is cooked just right — fluffy but firm enough to support the toppings — and their fish sauce is balanced, not too sweet or diluted. Sides like pickled veggies, lime, and jalapeños are a nice touch for those who want to adjust the heat and acidity. The atmosphere is simple and clean, and service is efficient. It’s a typical Vietnamese eatery setup — not fancy, but focused on food and speed. Prices are very reasonable for the portion (we usually spend about $10–$20 per person), and the dining room is kept tidy and well-run even during lunch rushes. Overall: 4.5/5. Not the most refined experience, but very dependable. For anyone craving a solid plate of com tấm with variety and flavor, this place delivers.
Best Com Tam I’ve had because the meat was tender and moist and the price was under $20 per plate! The portion size was enough to feed 2 people (not full, enough to satisfy). They accept card and contactless; HOWEVER, they charge $1 for card purchase under $25. As usual, you would have to go up to cashier and pay. We went when they opened, 20min. and the place was half filled with older people (must mean it’s authentic).
Com tam (broken rice) is great portion and reasonably priced. I discovered bun vit sao mang (duck noodle soup with young bamboo shoots) today. Came with plenty of ginger sauce and a salad on the side. I've only ever eaten com tam here so the noodle was a pleasant surprise 😮.
Broken rice - “Cơm Tấm” , a specialty dish of Vietnam. If you have ever traveled to Saigon, you already know the must-try dish: SaiGon broken rice. When coming to the US, the SaiGon broken rice plate not only retains its identity but also creates other flavors such as: shrimp rolls rolled with tofu ky are very popular next to fragrant grilled ribs, typical fresh yellow egg rolls. Delicious dishes must try when coming to Little Saigon in the US
This is hands down the best Cơm tấm in OC 🍚 - The pork chop was super flavourful and juicy. The shrimp mousseline in tofu sheets was nice and crispy 👌 And the steamed pork cake was super moist 🤤 and let me tell you, a good nước mắm makes all the difference. It completes the dish and makes it so much better. They def do it right here at Thanh Restaurant 👌 Love that they use broken rice as well! I highly recommend this spot and would return again! DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS SPOT!!
Top quality com tam, not sure how there other dishes are but my mother (True Vietnamese) recommended their com tam. Once outside the restaurant in the parking lot the fragrance of bbq pork and nuoc mam is heavenly. My mom ordered the number 5 and I got the number 4. My wife ordered something we didn't know was good, lemongrass fish and it was not bad! I recommend the 4 and 5 for sure by I am not the biggest fan of julienne pork
The original cơm tấm (broken rice) restaurant in Little Saigon. It is still relevant and still one of the best places for the Vietnamese special rice dish. Portions are on the smaller side compared to other similar restaurants but all the flavors are on point. Don't expect too much atmosphere in this type of restaurant. It's crowded and loud. People just come here for a good meal! Service is fast.

The food is amazing. Nothing beats this! Its comforting and also delicious. Its a family owned resturant thats been running longer than I've been living. Wait staff and the employees are nice and want the best for you. The food comes out super fast and is still really good quality. The cha gio is superb they have a really good crunch from a special cooking technique.
Love the com tam here. Can't go wrong stopping here for a quick lunch. Com tom here comes with a bowl of soup to help the food go down. The pickled vegies are a nice compliment to the com tam dish. Good service and clean tables.

Had a craving for Com tam xuong (broken nice plate), a friend recommended this place and got one to go. Ordered the grilled pork, bì(shredded pork and skin with rice flowers). The classic rice plate. Came with your choice of protein, bì, steamed egg cake, pickled veggies(chunk cuts of cabbage and carrots) with their version of fish sauce dip. Good and filling meal bot no frill.
This place has been around forever and is well known for its com tam (broken rice) dishes. It's got the here's-a-menu-what-do-you-want service that's typical of older Vietnamese restaurants, which is great if you want to get in and out quickly. Overall, it's a pretty solid com tam restaurant with reasonable prices. I've been disappointed with the tau hu ky the last few times. It's a bit too doughy.
The food is good but the servers here are at the top notch of disrespectful. They're very rude all of the time. You'll deal with this issue whenever you'll come here. They accept only CASH.
Great friendly service. Broken rice with pork chop was really tasty. Luc Mum was well balanced. The pork was a bit dry (if I was really trying to be picky) :)
I thought it was good. I'm not a Vietnamese food expert. It was quick. It filled me up. Nothing fancy, but I thought it was good
One of the best places to eat Com Tam (broken rice) in Garden Grove! My friend found a hair in her food and they gave her a new order. They're super busy in the weekend. 3 stars for cleanliness and 5 stars for the service.
Summary: This restaurant has been here for as long as I can remember. Every time I sat down, it bring back memories. I remember how when I was just a 'chubby wubby litto' kid, I would get impatient very easily and start bouncing around and bangs silverware together but once I saw the waitress holding a plate of Broken Rice with Pork Chip Hot off the sauce pan and an extra Sunny Side Up, you can see a halo on my head shining brighter than your teeth. Food: I still have the tendency to always order the same thing. Broken Rice with Grilled Pork Chop, one Sunny Side Up on the side and a glass of Soybean over ice, all under $8.00. Service: I never have high expectation when it comes to services located within this city. Growing up in the area, I should know better than to judge the restaurant by their service. As long as they are NOT rude and the quality of food is to my standard, I'll keep quiet. Overall: 8 bucks for a decent meal and a cold beverage is consider a great bargain especially when the portion size is more then I can ask for.
One of the better broken rice restaurants in Garden Grove/Westminster and it shows with a usual line out the door of customers waiting to be seated. But don’t fret because the service of the staff and kitchen are both very quick. Also of note is that this place is cash only. The choices on the menu can be a bit overwhelming but regardless, the rice is quite fluffy and the meat are well seasoned.
Food is ok. Hard to find parking space.
Good broken rice. I got the shrimp and pork chop "com tam" and it was very good. Though the size of the rice grain are not as small as I'm used to in my broken rice meals. The ratio of rice to meat is not 1:1, but I'm overall satisfied. Will come back to try the other dishes. Remember this place is CASH ONLY.
Broken rice with bbq meat and steam pork cake (#23) was perfect, not busy mid-day, parking is very challenging
This restaurant used to have a line out the door when I was last here before the pandemic. It's still busy but luckily no lines this time when we visited on a weekend for lunch. We were seated and our orders were taken within minutes. They are known for their Com tam (broken rice) dishes so that's what we ordered. Funny enough our food took awhile to come out. Portions were large and my pork chop was delicious. Very flavorful and still moist. I was a little disappointed in the Tau hu ky (shrimp mousseline). It was a little plain and oily. The stream pork cake was ok.
We ordered a broken rice dish and a vermicelli noodle dish. The broken rice dish was the com Tâm- got the pork with it, along with pork floss and the quiche-like side. I liked how fluffy and buttery the rice and the pork floss was. The pork was good too - sometimes other places would have too much fat on the pork, that it's not enjoyable to eat - but it was amazing here. The egg/quiche was ok- great complement to the dish but something was missing. We really liked how the egg roll in the vermicelli dish was cooked. The beef in this bowl was flavorful. Both dishes were pretty generous in size. Reasonable pricing as well during these times too It's a simple restaurant with little decor. The staff welcomed us right away when we entered. Everyone we encountered were nice and helpful.
I highly recommend the Com Tam Thit Nuong Cha. The meat is well-seasoned and charred slightly without being burnt. The soup is a great addition that comes with the broken rice dish. There's gacha machines in the back for $1. Ask for your sauces or non-spicy sauces when the food gets to the table because the servers will not be back after the last dish arrives.

Food was good. Service was good. I had the Vegetarian rice noodles with Lemongrass Tofu. My mom had the broken rice with chả. We ordered hot tea but it was served in a plastic cup instead of a ceramic mug.

My favorite broken rice (com tam) restaurant in the area. However, I just tried it again and it was not as good as I expected. My fried egg was somewhat over cooked; it didn’t have the runny yolk. The egg cake and shrimp cake didn’t seem to have good flavor. The grilled pork chop was not as juicy and tasty as it used to be. Hopefully next time I come back, I’ll get better food.
The Vietnamese com tam "broken rice" dishes are not what it once was 10 years ago. Seasoning is noticeably on the sweeter side. The pork chop was dull and dry. The egg pork cake was mediocre. Even the fried egg looked uninspired. The crispy rice paper egg roll was the hero in this quick dinner outing.
Expensive. Portion is little rice and meat is always left over since not enough rice. Overall, the portion is not as before and very little food for that price. I recommend to go Com Tam Thuan Kieu. They give so much food for a good price and good tasting.
I was craving for broken rice and Thanh came out top with their beautiful display of food. I decided to give it a try with my friends. We liked what we saw when the food came out. The pork chop was good and other sides were also tasty. The broken rice came with the side of soup which I enjoy since it wasn't too salty like other com tan places. The issue was taken place that night. I am highly sensitive to MSG and it affects me when I goto sleep. The usual MSG induced nightmares and I was so dehydrated. I had to wake up constantly to drink water then goto restroom. It tasted fine when I eat but I always suffer when I consume too much MSG. This is type of place where I will never visit again.
The service was bad. The server gave us (a party of 4) 2 glasses of water. He rushed us to order within 5 minutes after seating down. The food was alright. The steam pork cake was dry so as the shrimp beancurd (overcooked.)
Foods is great; however services seemed lacking when it gets a little crowded! Asked the waitress face-to-face to bring me a knife to cut my pork chop and she didn't even bring me one until I asked another waiter! SMFH!
I am living in San Gabriel Valley, near Los Angeles. There were many Vietnamese restaurants in my area but I thought Vietnamese restaurants in Little Saigon were better. Turned out I was wrong. I ate cơm tấm (broken rice) with chả trứng, tàu hủ ky, bì which cost $14.95 plus tax. Not a large portion & not as good as the same order at Cơm Tấm Kiều restaurant on Valley Blvd, Rosemead city nearby my house (which cost less, about less than $13). We also ordered seafood wonton soup, which cost more than $12 plus tax, which was not good either.
I would come back for the com tam dishes (broken rice). The pork here is good. The negatives. There aren't any pickled green chillies, mediocre egg rolls, place also was dirty with many uncleaned tables.
No wonder they started advertising on the Vietnamese channels. Their food is subpar, bordering on inedible. We got the rice plate with bbq pork and they gave us mostly fatty thin pieces that looked and tasted like they were cooked twice. Very very disappointed.

I remembered that this place used to be really good. What happened? The portions are very small and the meats are really salty. Even the rice is bad. Also overpriced compared to other com tam places. Not coming back.
This cơm tấm place overrated. Super rude workers. One of the driest pork chops / sườn I’ve ever had. Also their wonton soup was undercooked; the meat filling was still pink and mushy inside and they refused acknowledge it. I had a stomachache afterwards.
I looked for a good “con tam” restaurant in my area. I found this place on google. I decided to give this restaurant a try. I was very disappointed with “com tam” here. Broken rice isn’t warm enough and food isn’t tasty at all. Also, grilled pork chop tastes so boring. Very disappointed! I will never go back this place again.
Bad customer service. Food was ok. It's not the first time I've been here. We ordered 5 plates. We asked for hot sauce or sriracha. No server or waiter came to ask if we needed anything. The server brought the sriracha after asking twice. The place was not busy at all. This is unacceptable. No tip. Don't recommend and not coming back.
The WORST Com Tam in OC They forgot green onion. Food taste sweet like you are eating dessert.... 🤮 Portion almost half size compared to before! How can they stay in business???
This restaurant is disgusting. I went here this morning, and after I threw up. This place gives food poisoning. It is absolutely disgusting, dangerous, and hazardous! I'm never coming back.
Beef is very sweet and dry, and the triangle yellow egg thing is VERY porky, must used very bad quality of ground pork to make it, and has a lot of clear noodle in it. Worst I have ever had.. I couldn’t eat it. Everything is so sweet, the meat, the shrimps, the egg rolls, etc Obviously they like to put a lot of sugar to cook the food. The meat quality is so bad, I wouldn’t eat again for free!
