Loved the view and the food was delicious! If you leave hungry it's your fault. We had the fish special and it was good. We noticed others having chicken fried steak and chicken fried bacon. I may have to try the bacon next time.

This place and the food are well worth the drive(its not bad at all) some whine about. Three orders of CFS that were perfectly cooked and flavored. Sides ordered; steak fries(fresh and perfect), green beans(flavored just right), mashed potatoes(not instant). Great atmosphere and view of the lake. When finished take a walk down by the lake.

My wife and I were looking for a place to sit down and eat. I found this cafe on google maps. My wife loved her salad with grilled chicken, very fresh and tasty. The fried Okra was the best we have ever had. My fried shrimp basket was very good as well. This is a nice place to eat with a nice view of Lake Whitney.

Ok the drive is half the fun of getting there. Make one wrong turn and be prepared to add some time on the trip. It is more than worth it thoughh. It is real Texas comfort food. My wife had the Chicken Fried Chicken and I went with the smothered chicken. The sides are top notch and compliment the entrees perfectly. Will I go back, sure will it is worth the time and the atmosphere of the place takes you backk 40 years. Oh did I mention the view of the lake, just another bonus.

Chicken fried steak is sublime. Creepy driver to get to the cafe but well worth it.

Neat little out of the way place. There are cabins and have a nice lunch. I don't think you go there to eat the rabbit food. Your cardiologist won't be happy because there is a lot of fried food on the menu and it is good. For starters we had chicken fried bacon. Never have seen the before. It comes with cream gravy. The breading was wonderful. Fridays are all you can eat catfish. I ordered the two piece dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed it. My wife had chicken fried steak. The catfish waa better. She had fried okra. It was freash cut. Very tasty. Big portions here you won't go away hungry. The staff was very courteous and helpful.

Ate outside on such a beautiful day today. The restaurant sits right near a cliff overlooking the lake. We had the fried shrimp and the grilled catfish, and both were cooked amazingly! That shrimp was so nice and crispy. Make sure to get them with a side of fried okra, very tasty as well. The chef definitely knows what they're doing. I wasn't really a fan of the soft, dark fries, but that's just personal preference. They weren't cooked badly, just differentIy. I'll definitely be back whenever I'm in the area again.

This is really out in "the holler" and when u arrive you're not sure you are there. Small signs after several turns and really rough roads through a rough looking neighborhood. BUT the food & service were very good. I had chicken fried chicken, hubby had catfish. Only open Fri, Sat, Sunday. It was worth the effort to find it.

We haven’t been back to the restaurant in several years. I am so glad that we tried it again. It is good food again.

I have always loved going here, but the last several times the service is awful. There used to be a couple older ladies that were great, but now you cant get a refill. Last week no one ever came out. I sat there for ten minutes and a lady setting behind me went in back and said there is a customer out there, but no one ever came out. I had to get up and leave.

Was looking for a kid friendly place to stay during our (31F, 5M) trip. Found this place. Was somewhat difficult to find due to loosing signal on my side. I'm assuming it's a family run place & they live on site. As we asked our waitress how to book a room, she said her daughter would talk to us. Then afterwards any issue I had they daughter would handle it quite quickly. Food was OK, portions were huge. We only ate there once. Small room with 1 bed for I believe it was total of 250 for 2 nights. Room was ok, smelled of cigarettes, lots of mosquitos inside. So my fix was to spray off all over then leave for the day, once we returned most were dead on the floor. Pool was ok. View of lake was really pretty. All in all, nice family friendly rest stop.

Edited Post: 3/21/25 I will start by saying the food, when you get it has always been great. Kitchen service has gotten slow but worth waiting for, however tonight I waited a total of 45 minutes for a called in to-go order just to find out my order hadn't even been started because it had been lost, at that point I was to hungry to wait and came home and made a sandwich. 2020 Love this place. Hubby and I eat here all the time. The fried catfish and burgers are to die for.

Be prepared to pay extra for lemon with your fish. I asked for lemon, and the waitress barked "That's $1.50 extra!" They were out of unsweetened iced tea. We had 6 people in our party and we had to have ice water instead. I asked for a refill on my water, and the same waitress gave me the stink eye and said "Give it to me!" The food was good, but nothing worth being treated like that. Terrible service.

I’ll start with the positive. The catfish and hush puppies were very good. But that’s about where it ends. The trek to this location is honestly kinda scary. Pass by the half of a van on the left, turn into a run down trailer park, past the garbage heap and a dumpster which sits halfway into the middle of the road. We should have just turned around then. There was also, inexplicably, an old hot tub on the restaurant patio (why?). The mashed potatoes were lukewarm. The corn had no flavor. We were the only ones there (late lunch time) and the waitress was, not so quietly, complaining that she didn’t “feel like being a waitress today”. She later commented back to something said in the kitchen with “I don’t feel bad for y’all because there are three of you and one of me.” So to sum it up, the catfish was good but not worth your time.

There were not any employees around so we asked the other patrons if it was a "seat yourself" place. They said yes and to pick any table. We sat for about 5 minutes never seeing an employee. We finally saw a lady bring something to the other guests but didn't acknowledge us at all. We saw the menus on the wall so we grabbed a couple and started looking. As we did a guy looked out the kitchen window but never acknowledged that he saw us. About that time the lady appeared behind the counter staring down at her phone. She never looked up and then disappeared again. After about 12 minutes of trying to catch someone's attention we decided to leave. We were driving off and the same lady we saw inside was out around the back of the restaurant watching us leave. Very creepy and weird vibes. Really looked like it could be a good place even back out behind a bunch of old houses. It's a shame. Disappointed.

My husband and I decided to take a long drive for a date and try this restaurant. When we got there the hostess(and waitress) was NOT welcoming. We were the only people there. We asked if we could sit outside and she was very put out by that. Told us she guessed we could. When I asked where the restroom was she rolled her eyes. We sat outside, she came to the table and told us again why she didn’t want us to sit out there. We decided after that to just leave. Hard to trust food and service from someone who was so annoyed we were there. I highly recommend the owner retrain the pink haired girl or terminate and find someone who will better serve your business. (I suggest the latter)

Service is terrible. Food is not what it used to be. Don’t waste your time or money. The waitresses if you can call them are the worst.

Wish I could rate the food. We weren't acknowledged so no one took our order. Our server could not have been less interested in waiting on us so we left. The place was really cool and I heard good things about the food but that was the worst reception I've ever received after walking into any business.

The water tasted very strange, so we ordered cokes and they were flat. The food was a 2/5. Our waitress was more unpleasant than anything though. It’s a cute place with a lot of potential, we really had higher expectations.
