I cannot recommend making a trip out here enough! Gorgeous views, great food, and positive vibes here. I love their mission and collaboration with Together Academy, and my breakfast was delicious. Definitely recommend the chicken, avocado, and bacon toastie! And their coffee is really good too

The food was really good, the service was quite great, quick and professional, the place was quite busy for a Sunday morning but we had a wonderful experience. We had a table by the window, and the view was extraordinary. Highly recommend to anyone.

Lovely spot to get a takeaway coffee before a walk on the pier or sit down and have one of their delicious toasties and potato cubes. Came here on a Monday and it was very busy so I presume at weekends it can be hard to get a table. Definitely worth a visit though.

Lovely place to go for a coffee and a toastie any time of the year be it in Dun Laoghaire, Donnybrook or Bull Island. The vibe is always amazing and the staff are so friendly and caring, particularly those from The Together Academy in DL. It’s the perfect way to start or finish a walk by the sea or a stroll through Herbert Park.

Great atmosphere with a spectacular view of Dún Laoghaire boardwalk. Food was lovely, we ordered the tuna melt and chicken and pesto and it was lovely. The coffee was also great as well.

Lovely coffee shop with amazing views! Pastries look delicious there. Almond croissant is great. They have a big outdoor terrace where you can enjoy your coffee on a nice weather.

What an amazing little spot. Probability it wouldn’t impress me so much if it was a cloudy and rainy day but we went on the beautiful day. The sun was put, people we’re swimming and sunbathing down under the terrace. The bar was full of people. Everything run smoothly. The staff, the coffee, the food cakes were awesome. We’re definitely coming back soon.

Happy Out Café in Dunlaoghaire is such a beautiful experience. I took my twin boys there on Sunday to enjoy the fab sunshine. The location and views are second to none! The place was buzzing and the staff were so helpful and friendly. Service was great and the chocolate brownies are to die for!! You have to go and while you’re there hop in for a dip. It doesn’t get much better than that!❤️

This is a gem of a cafe overlooking the 40 foot. The food is so tasty, spotlessly kept well set out space. There's a very evident team spirit giving a very comfortable welcoming vibe. I'll definitely be back.

My favorite place in Dun Laoghaire, this place is so cozy and lovely. Indoors is so comfortable and outdoors is just beautiful because you have seen to the harbor. The coffee is so good and the food is nice! Because is so nice place is kinda full especially in sunny days! So, be aware that maybe you need to wait because of the space. After that I just love it!

Such a cute, cozy and dog-friendly cafe with great views. The interior is very modern, yet the tables are very cramped together. The staff is very sweet and I had only good experience with them (bonus points for inclusion). The coffee and the sweets are tasty, not bitter or too sweet. However, it is a very busy spot. Be ready for a queue and finding a place to sit down. There is also an outdoor sitting area, which I assume is lovely during warmer months. Price tags: Mocha €3.8 Cinnamon bun €3

Lovely little cafe overlooking the sea. This place has a great chilled vibe and an excellent team of staff. It’s always super popular and very busy so it can be difficult getting a table. Roast potatoes were well seasoned with a nice garlicky dip. Great place to sit down and take a little break.

Great view for tea and coffee. Nice danish and pastry selections plus hot food options. Staff is excellent and having the Together Academy given such opportunities is fantastic to see. They really pull their own.

What a find. Big shout out for this place. Wonderful staff and a seat outside to take in the view. No rushing at the till to move you along to the next customer. A lovely pace that we all need to appreciate these days. Coffee and cake devine. Definitely my go too Coffee Shop. Well done 👏 👏 👏

This cozy café just outside the seaside is an absolute delight. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and perfect for a relaxed morning or afternoon break. I had the scrambled eggs, and they were hands down some of the best I’ve ever tasted—creamy, perfectly seasoned, and served with fresh, crusty bread. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall great vibe of the place. Whether you're stopping by after a beach walk or just looking for a peaceful spot with great food, this café is a must-visit!

This café in Dun Laoghaire, just a few minutes' walk from the harbour, has an amazing view facing the ocean. You can relax, read a book, or meet friends while enjoying coffee and snacks. Reasonable prices and an amazing atmosphere!

GORGEOUS cafe ❤️ I got there around 11am and got the last table. Staff were lovely and food came quickly - 100% worth a visit! (I got a matcha latte and it was 10/10)

Pretty much a weekly customer now after a dip at the downstairs Dun Laoghaire baths. Great food and great staff...the breakfast bap is a must try!! If only all swim spots had a cafe like this beside them.

This is hands down the best café in Dublin! The food, coffee and service are second to none. The views are spectacular and their partnership with the Together Academy makes it even more special.

Excellent view and location, convenient parking lot just to the south of the building.

L

Amazing addition to Dun Laoghaire! Food, views and service were fab - all 10/10, my only negatives were how incredibly busy it was and that I wish there was more seating inside to accommodate. I hope they expand and add more seating as there is clearly demand for it! It was also incredibly cold inside as all doors were open just as an FYI to stay wrapped up!

Happy Out is a cozy and charming spot that instantly makes you feel at home, located near the scenic surroundings that add to its unique vibe. While I was a bit lost trying to find the bathroom, I had the luck of meeting Carol—a short, green-eyed girl with a super friendly attitude. She noticed I was completely disoriented and kindly showed me the way with a big smile. Her warmth and helpfulness truly stood out and made my visit even more memorable. Happy Out isn’t just about good coffee and great atmosphere—it’s also about the amazing people like Carol who make the experience genuinely special.

Loved it!! Had a brownie and the carrot cake. Both were delicious and the guy at the counter was very polite and handsome. My friend had the Danish pastry and a brownie as well. She thought it was very good. It is busy so if you dont mind that that's alright. Definitely recommend!!!

Hearing the international acclaim of Happy Out in Dun Laoghaire (or just the Instagram reel my auntie in America sent me), I knew I had to try it out for myself, on a lovely mild day in December after a quick dip in the sea (emphasis on quick). A scenic walk along the shore brought us to seemingly the most poppin’ place on a Saturday afternoon: Happy Out, which at high tide was deservingly the prime location to gaze across the seascape. Despite the query being out the door, our wait was short to get both an iced Americano (paying homage to the fatherland) with vanilla and an iced mocha, as well as a breakfast bap and cheese toasty (with pesto to give a little extra zing!). In and out in the same amount of time you could listen to Stairway to Heaven- but was this cafe serving the food of the Gods? Well, to start, the coffee had a lovely flavor, not too bitter and the perfect strength, like the ideal enemies to lovers protagonist. The iced option was especially appealing considering the beautiful sunny day we were having for once during this cold and unwelcoming winter. But the open door (question why both doors weren’t open, only one- maybe for exclusivity?) was certainly more pleasant and hospitable than the past few weeks of the season. The only downside to the coffee was the use of sugar free syrup giving the brew an almost overpowering artificial aftertaste which was slightly disappointing (do I not deserve sugar?). Regardless, we powered through. The abundance of outdoor seats allotted us the beautiful view of the crystal clear waters below while we dig into our delightful sammies. The cheese toasty had a brilliant golden color akin to the Sunkist tan one would get on a Spanish holiday, and the addition of the bits of crispy cheese was incredibly appreciated. The sound of the crunch would give most ASMR channels a run for their money, and the texture of the crispy bread balanced with the creamy and indulgent cheese blend hit the spot! And don’t get me started about that pesto- with perhaps some sundried tomato in it?? Come on now, YUM! A sumptuous grilled cheese equally comforting and warm as a mother tending to her sick child. Despite the chill set into the bones from the ocean, I must say my heart melted like the cheese between the sourdough bread. Now, onto the breakfast bap. After my disappointment with there being no sausage remaining on the premises, my hopes were low. I opted for the black pudding as a sorry excuse of a replacement, but alas I digress. It was a large sandwich for how much I paid which was a pleasant surprise. The sweetness of the relish in correspondance to the salty bacon was delightful. As well as the crunchy black pudding in the soft brioche roll, my toungue didn’t realise the immense symphony of flavour and consistency that was furloughing in my mouth. The iced mocha was also delightful, and like the ever fleeting romance of a summer fling, it was gone before we have even received our meal.

Cute store by the water. The location is ideal after spending all day outside. The staff is very attentive and caring and the there is a good selection of products. We had classic scrambled eggs, a ham and cheese toastie, a fresh orange juice and an oat latte. Everything was tasteful and you can see the attention they give to its overall quality.

Lovely café with beautiful sea views — especially nice on a sunny day. The sandwiches were delicious, and the coffee hit the spot. It does get quite busy, almost as if it’s the only café in Dún Laoghaire 😄. We had a reservation for three and were seated at the window counter, which isn’t ideal if you want to chat comfortably with others. Service was a bit hands-off — no one really checked in on us to see if we wanted to order more. I expected that with a reserved table, there would be more attentive service at the spot. Still, a charming place overall, and worth visiting — just something to keep in mind when booking.

We went to this café for lunch — note that their kitchen closes at 3 pm. The location alone makes it worth a visit: right on the coastline, overlooking the harbour, with the wind in your face. On a sunny day, it’s an absolute must whether you’re there for coffee alone or with friends. For atmosphere and location, it’s a solid 5 — especially if you can snag a great seat. What makes it even better is their collaboration with Together Academy. It’s a fantastic initiative, and kudos to Happy Out for being part of it. As for the food and coffee: decent overall. We ordered the Clucking Unbelievable toastie, the Hot Chick focaccia sandwich (a special), potato bites with herbs, garlic aioli and parmesan, an oat milk flat white, and a coconut milk latte. The coffee was strong and flavorful — no complaints there. The toasties, however, didn’t quite hit the mark. The Clucking Unbelievable was overpowered by avocado smash, which drowned out the pesto and sun-dried tomato flavors I was looking forward to — I only caught a hint of them in the last bite. My partner’s Hot Chick focaccia had better balance in flavor, but we felt the bread didn’t really complement the filling. The potato bites were well seasoned and hit the spot, though for me personally, the parmesan was a bit heavy for the portion size. All in all, a decent meal in a stunning setting

"In the summer, sitting outdoors is very enjoyable. The indoor area is small and quite noisy. The staff are attentive in a way that is unusual for Ireland. Finding a table in the summer can be a bit difficult, and I’d rate the cleanliness 3/5. I would recommend visiting

As a matcha lover, I’d say their matcha latte was pretty decent, and to complement was a slice of their indulgent chocolate cake. If you don’t mind a bit of a crowd, this cafe is worth a visit. A delightful spot overlooking the waters of Dun Laoghaire!

The overnight oat was a perfect choice for a less heavy brunch 😋 Do expect a long queue over the weekend though. The only downside was it being difficult getting a table. I was on my own with a small baby and couldn’t occupy a table before placing my order like many others do.

Yes, this is a cute cafe in Dun Laoighre. I agree with other posts that the food was average, the tables are very close and the view is lovely. I completely appreciate the concept and applaud the intent of this learning cafe, the delivery however did not appear to align with the mandate. The service was chaotic to say the least (no host, no server, no cutlery, no water…). There were a handful of teens behind the counter making their own drinks and eating their own food. The students were patiently awaiting instruction and direction, which was sadly lacking. Meanwhile, what appeared to be the management team of adults, were also sitting down eating and having a break at a table next to us, completely oblivious to the chaos of clients seeking service. Unfortunately, due to mismanagement and label of direct instruction-supervision, at this time.

Cute cafe in a brilliant spot in Dun Laoighre. The food we had was very average, the table was cramped & the service was a bit all over the place (no cutlery, no water…) I’d recommend for a quick coffee but you’d easily find much better spots around for food.

Great views, the food is good and great coffee. The place was packed, no costumer care, they just want you done with your food and out of there. If you try to change tables staff comes and insinuates that the table you wanted is taken (when there's nobody there). Overall was ok for a place famous on tiktok

I'm a long-time customer and unfortunately the service is not that good. Yesterday, I ordered a decaf iced Americano, and they brought me an iced Americano with milk. They gently remade it for me but, despite the extra charge, the second iced americano wasn't decaf, and I ended up staying up until 2 am last night. Better organization is needed, especially considering the high prices they charge!

C
ChristianZ

Went to the place and ordered 2 coffees. Every chair in the place was busy and a small queue to order something. There were 5-7 people behind the counter working, but only one person on the coffee machine, and he did not multi task. We waited 20 minutes for 2 coffees. We witnessed how they kept getting orders wrong, bumped into each other and none of the staff knew for which customer the order was. Absolute chaos caused by bad organization. I understand that the place was busy, but they consistantly made it worse by getting orders wrong, and remaking coffees....one by one instead of having a system where they can use the coffee machine to its fullest potential.

Coffee bitter and burnt to bits. Pastry stale. Good view and service though.

There is absolutely no hygiene at all. I was standing in line to order food and coffee, but when I looked at the kitchen, I was shocked — the chef and kitchen assistants weren’t wearing gloves and were touching everything, from vegetables and bread to eggs and trash, with their bare hands. It was very disgusting, and the shocking part is that the kitchen door was open for everyone to see.

L

Ordered a coffee and waitress behind the bar reacted annoyed when i said hello, and shook her head. I ordered a cappuccino with almond milk, got one with regular milk. Waitress didnt say a word and just was annoyed and showed me the card payment tool with her finger. No hi, no thanks, no here you go, no bye. Nothing. Went there to have a coffee with a nice view and left the place feeling like i did something wrong. Absolutely frustrating experience.
