Chris Salvatierra was absolutely fantastic! From the moment we sat down, he made us feel welcome and taken care of. He was attentive without being overbearing, kept our drinks and water refilled, and consistently checked in to make sure our food was perfect and exactly to our liking. His positive attitude and great service truly made our dining experience even better. Overall, Chris is an outstanding server — we’ll definitely be back and hope to have him again!
Was there Wednesday night(feb 11). The food and service was excellent! I was with my wife, nephew and his girlfriend who was celebrating her birthday. On top of being great on every level they even went above and beyond by bringing out a surprise birthday ice cream. I will definitely be back!!
Made a last minute reservation on Saturday for 4 at 5pm. The space was spacious and classy. The service was kind and attentive. We shared the calamari, burrata app, beet salad, and two pizzas (zucchini and sausage / pepper). Everything was tasty and came out pretty quickly. The calamari and burrata were my favorites, probably because they came out first and I was hungry! We stayed for almost 3 hours and didn't feel rushed, like true Italian dining!
We always dine at this restaurant! The food is great, the wine selections are fantastic and the service is incredible! We had the pleasure of having Genaro as our server and he was the nicest man! Everything was perfect!
Alberto was an our waiter at the Woodland Hills location & was an absolute doll. He was so sweet. We came for my cousins birthday & he really catered to us & made us laugh. The food was what brought everything together. Would absolutely come back
Amazing experience! The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. Kyle, our server, was so patient in answering all my questions and helped me choose the perfect dish. Also, thanks to Sebastian(the manager, I believe) who greeted us warmly and even brought us an appetizer to start. Such thoughtful service made the night even more special. Definitely I’ll be coming back for sure!
A Serendipitous Delight at Il Fornaio Woodland Hills The service was top-notch. I hadn’t been seeking Italian cuisine while exploring the stunning Topanga Village, yet I stumbled upon Il Fornaio Woodland Hills—and I’m so grateful I did. The ambiance of this eatery is simply perfect. From the outside, the structure evokes old-world Italy—charming and inviting. Nestled in a beautiful setting, it feels like a tucked-away gem that transports you somewhere timeless. Our server, Devan, was outstanding. If you’re ever visiting Il Fornaio Woodland Hills, do yourself a favor and ask for him. Devan was a delightful host, with impeccable customer service skills. He treated us not just as patrons but as welcomed guests—courteous, jovial, attentive, and respectful. He was well-informed about the menu and didn’t just drop off food and vanish. On the contrary, he served us with the kind of attention that made it clear his priority was our satisfaction. I had a taste for lasagna—and did they ever deliver! The blend of meats inside was flavorful and rich, layered beautifully. I paired it with a tropical salad: sweet, tangy, mint-kissed greens that burst with freshness. The sauce on the lasagna was seasoned to perfection—enhancing rather than overpowering the dish, creating a delicious harmony with the meat and pasta. I was visiting the area for a surprise birthday bash with my California relatives and the college graduation of my young cousin. Everything about the meal hit the mark. It was fine dining at its best—unexpected, memorable, and exactly what I didn’t know I needed.
It is a very nice restaurant. But it is usually outside of my price range. Maybe wondering why I gave only 4 stars out of 5 for service? I asked for a cup of iced water that never came in the last 30 minutes. Restaurants that are a bit on the expensive side is a bit of financial commitment from the customer when they are taking someone special. It is unlikely that I may comeback for a while. Otherwise the food and service for the items that were written down were great. Maybe next year.
This is my first time at Il Fornaio. Before I say more, I want to shout out our server, Jessica. She was very polite, professional and also went above and beyond. I wanted a digestivo and she recommended some other one which was so good. The atmosphere was nice, warm, elegant, and had a family feel. We went on a Wednesday night around 5pm. It was not busy. Our food came out hot and quick. The food was great tasting. We ordered calamari and bread for appetizers. Then we had Linguine Mare Chiato and the Lasagna for entrees and a tiramisu for dessert. We also ordered digestivos or digestif in English. There is a free parking lot and valet parking. The bathroom was clean. They have a bar and a large selection of drinks. I recommend going and if you're going on the weekend, I suggest reservations. They do have outdoor seating and it's heated.
I want to say thank you to my waitress Chaste , she was very nice, she always came up to ask if everything was okay, smiling and positive, I ordered ravioli, it was incredibly delicious. At the entrance you will be greeted and seated at a table, and a small compliment from the restaurant is a champagne treat!
Went here for happy hour and had such a good experience. The food was so delicious and for such a great price ! Will definitely be coming back here for more happy hours and just regular dinners as well. It's such a nice restaurant and the staff were very helpful. They even came to us before happy hour was over to see if we wanted to put in one last order for the happy hour prices.
My family and I came here today to celebrate my sister birthday. She made reservations ahead of time off their website for a party of 10. When we arrived to the restrauant, we got seated right away. Our waitress came and took our drinks order. The waitress was nice to answer my questions about the dishes and also how to pronounce the name. To start off with the appetizers we got the calamaretti which everyone enjoyed. For our entree, I got the Grigliata Di Pesce Misto which was salmon, sway fish, 4 shrimps, 4 scallop, roasted potatoes, baby carrots and broccoli. I really like the sway fish, salmon and scallops but the shrimp didn't have much seasoning to me. My wife got the Branzino Al Limone which was the Sea Bass and she enjoyed her dish. My dad went with their fradiavola pizza and my mom got the Salmon. We finished off the night with the tiramisu and a scoop of Gelato. The only issue we experienced here was our waitress disappeared when we wanted the check so it took a while to flag her down. They don't validate parking here because the structure parking at the Village is already compensated for the first like 90 minutes.
Il Fornaio Woodland Hills is an absolute culinary gem! From the moment you step inside, the ambiance is enchanting, setting the stage for an extraordinary dining experience. The menu is a symphony of flavors, showcasing the finest Italian cuisine with a modern twist. Each dish is a masterpiece, meticulously crafted and bursting with freshness. The staff's impeccable service adds to the overall charm, making you feel like a cherished guest. Whether you indulge in their delectable pasta, exquisite seafood, or heavenly desserts, every bite is a journey to culinary perfection. Il Fornaio Woodland Hills is not just a restaurant; it's a destination for those who appreciate the artistry of fine dining. An evening here is nothing short of a gastronomic celebration! Thank you ❤️
Absolutely phenomenal experience. The service was quick, the food was delicious. The branzino was absolutely amazing. The potatoes it came with were delicious. I’m not a fan of fish but it wasn’t fishy and I thought it was my favorite dish. Pear salad with Gorgonzola cheese was great. Vodka pasta with bacon was incredible and my husband’s favorite. The spicy Italian pizza was terrific as well. I loved the pistachio gelato! The cheesecake was good but gelato was a must. Excellent variety of wines. You will not be disappointed. Make a reservation as they do get busy. We will definitely be back.
A nice spot in the Woodland Hills. For me, it will still be weird that they make you pay for the bread. The waiter asks you, but they don’t tell you you have to pay for it. We got the bruschetta with tomato, which was very decent. The bread was crispy and soft and the seasoning was nice. For the main course, we got some pasta (rigatoni alla vodka & mafaldine alla friulana) and meat (Filetto al vino rosso) Overall, the food was fine. I’m not gonna say it’s the best I have had. But, it was decent and there was nothing to complain about. The service was basic. I want to say if you are looking for a chill vibe around and some decent Italian food, it’s a decent option.
For a lovely day out, this is a great choice. The reason is that you can have authentic Italian favorites! Pizza came out the way I enjoy, thin crust and desirable toppings. Calamari was the best I've ever had. Bread is amazing. Im giving a generous 3 star on the food, because everything was there but execution on the pasta. We ordered 6ish, I believe 1 person ate and enjoyed it all. Also, my dad's ravioli came out cold. Being Italian, I do believe this should be the easiest part. I'm craving that 😫 pizza again! 🍕
I wish i could give this place a perfect score but I can't. Their service was outstanding ( are waiter was on point with everything) & our 2 main dishes were outstanding. Then the 2 appetizer's were average. Then there over all pricing is a little high but you are in as they say "high rent district". Then the worst this is they add a very unusual 3% on your bill (not for CC fee) The worst thing is they charge for bread. You would think with prices like that they give you some bread for scarpetta with an Italian meal. (this is what's call nickel and diming a customer) Having good service and 2 main meals that were great kind of makes you feel a little better. If i go back it will be on the company expense. I posted the 2 main dished that were outstanding. Pizza & Pasta (with no bread). Be prepared to spend some money.
My fiancé and I booked this restaurant for a last minute reservation. We knew about the Beverly Hills one and was intrigued. I checked out the reviews and the ones that talk about slow service are the most accurate. We went a bit later in the night and it wasn't busy (we were the only ones in our section). Our waiter asked if we wanted water and we said yes and then he said he would be right back before we could even tell him what we wanted to drink. 10 minutes later, he comes back with our waters, and then says he'll be back again and goes to sit down at a table directly in front of us to fold napkins and talk to his female coworkers. After about 10 minutes and staring at the back of his head, my fiancé decided to get up and tell him that we were ready to order again the restaurant wasn't busy at all. He came over like it hadn't been 10 minutes and proceeded to take our order. At that point we decided to put everything in. That little instance alone was enough to set the standard for our service for the rest of the meal. The food wasn't mind blowing or out of this world that I just have to have. It reminded me of Maggiano's. The decor and inside of the restaurant is super cute though and the margarita Italiano was actually pretty good if I ever did decide to come here I would definitely just sit at the bar.
I wanted to share an honest review of my experience at Il Fornaio. Unfortunately, the service really fell short and made the visit feel unwelcoming. The menu is entirely in Italian, which is fine, but I expected the server to help guide us—explaining where the appetizers and drinks were listed, what the different pastas were, or even recommending popular dishes. That didn’t happen. Our server, Alberto, barely explained the drinks and simply said they had “Coke, Sprite, and fountain drinks.” When I asked for Coke Zero, he shut it down without explanation. He later came back asking if we wanted appetizers again, but since the menu doesn’t clearly label them (and again, it’s all in Italian), I would have appreciated some guidance like “the appetizers are at the top” or suggestions on what’s popular. Instead, there was no explanation, and he decided to bring an appetizer of his own choice “on the house,” which honestly felt more dismissive than helpful. The whole interaction at the beginning felt rushed and unwelcoming. Toward the end of the meal, it seemed like he realized this and became nicer, but first impressions matter, and the start of the experience really set the tone. I hope this is taken as constructive feedback, because better communication and a more welcoming approach would make a big difference especially for guests who aren’t familiar with Italian menus and since it was my first time there I just expected better service and better explanations . I will not be coming here again .
Service was terrible….could not get a drink refill to save my soul. I literally had to ask five times for a refill of my six dollar Diet Coke and waters ! Was so thirsty during the entire meal…Food was just ok but the worst experience was “Rebecca” who gave us friendly service in the very beginning and then literally disappeared. She was too busy chatting with the staff and counting plates to even care about our needs. Someone else dropped off our food and she never came to ask how anything was but the worst part was she never could accomplish a drink refill after asking five times… Then got an attitude… over a drink refill…. Not happy with this place. It was embarrassing to have to ask so many times to refill a drink…. I will never be back. Terrible service!
Truly atrocious service. My wife and I were dining with this other couple and they forgot to put her salmon with the rest of the order. When they finally confessed what had happened, the manager approached us and promised they would bring it ASAP but take the salmon off the check. Indeed, the salmon arrived quickly but it was burnt and rushed through (as one would expect.) we didn't make a scene because we are not those types of people but we kept joking that at least it's free so it's worth every penny. When the bill arrived, the salmon was indeed on there. I didn't complain. They had a right to demand payment even if the food was bad and it arrived late (the rest of our meals were also subpar because we waited for my wife's meal to arrive and they got cold) but I also have a right not to come back and leave this review to want people off the place. Honestly, it's not even worth spending Denny's money on this place. For their price points, they need to at the very least have average quality service. They are long ways off from that. I have been to other Il Fornaio locations, and Woodland Hills is the only one where service is this bad.
