There's a reason why there's always a line queued up here. Their meats are top notched and very flavorful. Roast Duck - must try.. one of the few places where the skin is crispy (but not potato chip crunchy) and the meat is flavorful and tender. (make sure you tell them you don't want plum sauce... else they may include it and charge you an extra $0.50) BBQ Pork - must try.. BBQ Spare Ribs - try. Their hot plates - must try: stuffed tofu, salt and pepper chicken wings. Pretty much everything but skip the vegetables. If you plan to eat here, go for their rice plates or porridge only. Skip the noodles and skip the wonton/dumplings. This place is known for their BBQ stuff. Bring cash and if not you'll need to go a few doors down to the ATM
A Chinese friend of mine said that this place was the closest they’ve come to having food from China. I got the roast duck on their recommendation, and it lived up to the hype. The skin was delicious and the meat was juicy and tasty. It was by far the best duck I’ve ever had. Like a lot of the chinese places in San Fran it is cash only. I’ll definitely be going back and will be getting the BBQ pork as I’ve been told it is excellent as well.
One of the better places for charsiu and roast duck. Ordering was quick and simple. Paid with cash and brought my own bag. We ordered 2 rice plates and it was A LOT of rice. Feels like you could feed 8 people with that amount.
Get here early bc they run out of the best food. I live in the neighborhood so I had the impression that they cook for a lot of the local families. There’s a reason why the line always twists around the block, it really is that good. Most people get Large to-go quantities but the meat over rice plates are the way to go. But good luck on getting the 5 Spice chicken!
Very tasty. Asked for the soy sauce chicken and asked if I want the American one or Chinese one. I guess the American one is bigger with more breast meat. Got it and would say a bit dryer but easier eating. Have found the chickens around here are on the bony side ( but very flavorful). East coast only has one type and seems to be something in between. Longer line but got my food in about 20 minutes. Happy family so worth the wait.
It was my first time visiting this place and I am impressed by how good the food is! I ordered 1 whole roasted duck and the bbq pork ribs and everything was delicious. My biggest regret was not ordering another roasted duck from here.
Very good Roasted duck, squid, and pipa duck! Now I know why people line up for it. Personally, i thought the Pipa duck was the best. However, I had to drive 2 hours back home after purchasing the food. By the time I got home, the crispy skin of the roasted duck had already became soggy. I would recommend that you try to enjoy the ducks as soon as possible. Let the rice soak up the juice and it's heaven!
Best Chinese BBQ I've found so far. Their roast duck is so damn good, but pretty salty. If you can't handle a little sodium maybe stay away. Their roast pork is also pretty good but only if you get the belly cut (they have a leaner cut as well). The char siu is okay, but the charsiu riblets are much better. Cash only and lots of hole in the wall vibe.
I ordered trays for my daughters 9th birthday party. They require a deposit in cash, they can take deposit with credit card but will charge 3% extra for related fees. Broccoli beef was great, chow mein was ok, beef chow fun was a big hit, the mixed veggies was terrible. I would still come back but I now know what to order. As for their bbq meat, my mom likes them. Sometimes there might be a longer wait but it’s okay.
Wow the combination Hor Fun soup with roast pork and roast duck is hands down one of my favorite dishes in SF!!! Skip the take out line and sit down inside to order the soup at the table. One combination Hor fun soup is lightly filling for one couple. :) Pull the meats out as soon as it comes to keep the skin crispy. (Or try to ask for them on the side) The roast pork has an amazing crispy chicharron skin with deliciously salty savory fat layer between it and the pork meat that you should separate and throw back in the soup. The duck meat is super flavorful. We found ourselves sucking on the fatty bones just for the dopamine hits of savory flavor. The broth of the soup is light which helps cut through the salty savory flavor of the meats. Keeping the skin on the side allows you to top each bite of soup noodle with flavorful meat and a bit of crunch. I kid you not, this dish is epic!
Peking duck was as good as my experience in ny. Roast and bbq pork was to die for. Flavor profile was perfect for the items we had try it for yourself. Will be back next week.
Wow. This roast duck is the king of roast ducks. No inside seating and no parks or benches near by to eat. So if you’re like me with no wheels you’ll be eating on the steps of a near by church. The duck is so juicy and succulent it doesn’t even make any sense. The 5 spice shines through like a west coast sunset in July. I love this place!
Good char siu. $25 minimum for card
Three things you must know about this place: 1) There’s always a line but if you call ahead and order you can skip the line and go into the back and request your pickup. 2) Cash only. Fortunately there’s a Bank Of America ATM up the block. 3) The roast duck and roast pork are the best things there. If you get the duck be sure to ask for a larger serving of plum sauce. It’s worth the extra .50 cents.
Our favorite Chinese restaurant in the Outer Richmond District. Reasonable prices, great dim sum and comfort food. Huge menu!
This place is awesome- very delicious Chinese BBQ. We sat down to eat here on a Saturday afternoon and there was no wait for dine in. There was a pretty long line for take out, however. I ordered a bowl of noodle soup with BBQ pork on top. Very tasty. Service was a little slow but they were slammed. Very cheap as well- think my huge bowl cost $8.
The best roast duck at SF. Juicy but not greasy, soft but with crisp skin. There are two kinds of roast pork. One is pork belly and the other is less fat meat. The photos are the less fat one. They are really juicy, not dry, and mouthful flavors.
Delicious. Their ducks are definitely larger and contains slight more fat then other restaurants I've tasted. VERY JUICY! We had roasted duck porridge (it's just duck on porridge, and HK/Cantonese also very good at making fine porridge, it was very tasty! The juice and oil of the duck mixed into the bowl... yum), and 3 mix rice (duck, script skin BBQ pork, and duck liver) this was delicious too! The rice was well cooked and the meat were put on top, so the juice will go into the rice! Also this dish will have a little bit of veggie to go with. I wish I could have taken one whole duck togo. It was that good!
Greasy table top Chinese food place right across from a Safeway. Cramped, authentic, but great food. A majority of the customers were lined up out the door to buy the food for the butcher to cut up. We ordered and sat down in the restaurant (about 4 tables) so we didn't try the butchered meat. I ordered my favorite dish, the beef chow fun.

The whole roast duck to go is the best! I always leave a 1$ tip, they appreciate it. Arrive early as they sell out early on the ducks
This is the place to get duck! Ribs, roast pork, all delicious. Fast and efficient service, thank you!
The roasted duck is probably one of the best in the Bay Area.

The place might be small and a bit out dated, but they have great service and meat taste good!
The line here is as famous as the food itself. During peak hours, there's always a line of hungry Chinese people going out the door, but it tends to move at a decent pace. People inside are all yelling out their orders, and the butchers somehow collect everything and channel it into boxes full of roasted goodies. For how disorganized it is, there's some sort of chaotic efficiency. Just know what you want before you reach the counter, and don't be shy. It also helps to speak loud Cantonese. However, all of this is pretty easily avoidable if you pick up food during off peak hours. As for the food, you can't go wrong with their venerated roast duck. Rich, savory, fatty, juicy, it hits all the right notes. The spices and seasonings they use give it a really bold flavor. The skin could be crispier, but it's still really good. The leftover salty and fatty juices can be used like bacon grease. It makes anything taste great. On rice, noodles, bread, eggs, vegetables, or other meat, it's all good. Lips feeling chapped? Lather them in delicious leftover duck fat. Ming Kee is also one of our favorite places for take out roast duck, but it's been a little inconsistent since they moved back to Ocean. I also like the Cha Siu (BBQ Pork) here. It's tender, juicy, and sweet. In addition to the glimmering sweet glaze, the burnt edges also add a lot of flavor and texture. Ordering half lean half fat doesn't seem to change the composition of the pieces much, but it's all still tasty.
Best barbque pork and roast duck in San Francisco, according to my taste buds. Don't let 8 or 9 people in front of you scare you away, it moves quickly (10-15 minutes) and it is worth the wait. Food is 5 stars, I give them 4 because of their customer service. Keep an eye on what you order and don't be shy to have them show you the duck or piece of pork you are buying. Sometimes I think they try to give me yesterday's leftovers or leftover pieces simply because I wouldn't know any better or don't know to say I want something else. Don't come first thing in the AM when they open, this is prime time to get a dryer product, could this be leftovers from yesterday reheated? Try it! You'll love it!
A lot of locals say this place has the best Hong Kong style barbecue meats in the city, that is when I had to make a visit and see for myself. Upon arrival, the lines was out of the door and that kept me wondering to see if what they did was true. That was not really the case because they just had one person chopping for all the customers. Also the store is very compact, so not much people can just wait inside to crowd the whole place up. They offer roast duck, chicken, soy sauce chicken, chau siu, roast pork, wok fresh items and much more. They used to have dine in, but after Covid they removed that option and it is strictly for to go now. When it was my turn to order, I just went with my normal go to which is roast duck, because if you mess that up then no need of a revisit. The skin was semi crispy, meat was slightly warm and a lot of fat than meat ratio. To conclude people’s opinions and facts, this is definitely not the best Hong Kong barbecue shop in the city. I know where the best one is and most people agree with my option. I do have to say the staffs here were welcoming and well trained which made my visit an issue free one. I recommend this place if you are in need of a quick bite, to anyone on a limited time or if you live nearby. I might be back in the future to tryout the other options they have to offer.
Service was rude the second time we came. The lady at the cashier spent her time talking to her friend and complaining about how the customers before us didn’t follow the “ordering etiquette” therefore slowed down her work. An easy remedy would be you stop talking and get back to work? In terms of the food, we especially loved the roast duck. The skin is glossy and crispy. We tried the double roast combo on rice and got roast duck and roast pork.
Deli Cantonese style steamed and roasted chickens, and roasted pigs and BBQ sweet pork, etc along with rice, noodles and chow fun. Good to eat, open 365/7/12. Started at 9am daily.
Good place to grab really good chinese bbqs - roast duck, soy sauce chicken, bbq pork, etc. It can get crowded as it's a popular place. Parking on the street.
One of the best Roasted Duck and Roasted Pork places in the city. The String Beans are great as well.

FINALLY tried Cheung Hing last month, after having it fester in my bookmarks for years! While the three of us considered getting some side (non-meat) dishes, well, it seemed silly, so we just went with entree sizes of their: * Soy Sauce Chicken - Good flavor and tenderness overall, but came in on the dry side (as most white meat does). * BBQ Pork - I was expecting to like this a lot more than I actually did, but it didn't taste like the chashu that I'm used to getting at dim sum, or in pastries. A bit less sweet, and a bit more medicinal. Probably would not get this the next time around. * Roast Duck - Definitely the star of the three, with great flavor, and deliciously wonderful duck skin. While there were some misses, the roast duck alone is worth coming back for, especially at these prices! ***Accessibility Info*** Venue - Seating is pretty limited, but most people seem to show up to get orders to go. Show up after 7pm and you should have missed the bulk of the dinner rush, leaving you with a small selection of accessible tables. If you come during the rush, well, good luck. Bathroom - Didn't check them out, so no comment.
Busy busy area so good luck finding a street parking during lunch time! Their meters use the parkmobile app so luckily I already have it for MN. Food was mediocre. The potato leaf veggie was really salty. They did have a promo where you can get lobster e mein for $3, but I’m not sure how you can qualify for the promo. Place is clean and you can see all the roast/barbecue hanging right when you enter. Overall it’s not bad but I can do without.
Not a good impression. the roast pork was salty, not crunchy, and very cold... roast duck is okay, not that good.
I remember the first time I ate here, the food was awesome. You couldn't get better bbq pork or roasted duck. I've ate here less and less over the years, as the food quality seemed to get a little worst. Recently, I got the bbq pork ribs and half a roasted duck. The duck was a little salty and the bbq pork did not have as much flavor as I'd expected. There is still a lot of long lines though during peak hours, so expect to wait half hour if there are a lot of people there. Come early if you can to avoid the lines.
Love the roast pork. Love the roast duck. Love the squid. Love the Yeung Chow fried rice. Don't love the decor. It's a grab and go place. If you do come at dinner time, order rice or something in advance, and get the rest of the meat when you get there. Or, be prepared to stand in line.
$30 for whole duck is ok, but the duck is on the skinny not a lot of meat side. The BBQ pork was mostly dry too. The squid was decnt.

The braised tofu party tray was very good the last time we had it at a party. But the latest one is not as good. The braised tofu wasn't as tasty and it was loaded with big bok choy instead of button mushrooms like I was told when ordering. Way too much sauce. Won't be getting it again.
Nothing at all like the website - very different food options from the online menu. Things like egg rolls were only avaliable for catering. If you like authentic pig hooves and chicken feet this is for you. A little too authentic for my taste. It appeared to be take out only.

This place has changed many owners in last decade or so. It used to be one of the best in the city with long lines of customers, always fresh and delicious food, and reasonable price. All of this is a history now. Food is not delicious or fresh anymore. Be ready to find a faull smely shrimp in your rice or noodle dish, or soy sauce chicken that spoils overnight in your fridge. Long lines are gone. Prices are high, but to be fair they are high everywhere. Unfortunately, one more formerly great place is gone, at least for me.

They tried to sell you the bad ones first with all the fatty part if you do watch them or ask them what you want or which part of the meat you want. The whole duck seems more fat than meat and very small portion of WHOLE DUCK. I’m not sure where all the meat goes or what they do but the WHOLE DUCK is all bones and fat and few pieces of meat. People be careful when you buy WHOLE DUCK. Watch out when they chop the duck or better just to get the whole duck without cutting. SERVICE IS ALWAYS TERRIBLE.
Doordash order: beef/,Chinese broccoli & beef fried rice very bland. Rice only has a few peas some eggs, rice and beef. Chinese broccoli is very chewy and tough. I have to add my own ingredients to make it worth eating. Don't waste your money. No utensils either.
When I asked if they sell half a pound, they said yes. But when I was about to pay, they suddenly said the minimum is $9 for this type of box. Such dishonesty. I even wonder if they properly pay taxes to the government, since they only accept cash. Who would want to eat something like what’s shown in the picture? I threw it all away as soon as I got home. I won’t be setting foot in this shop again. Thanks!

Bought BBQ pork and cuttlefish at Cheung Hing on 1/20/26. The pork was pink on the inside, which made me think it's undercooked; the cooked portions were bland and chewy. I threw it out just to be safe, and wasted my money. The cuttlefish tasted old and the texture was too soft. Very disappointing. I hope I'll remember not to buy from them again. (I know I sometimes forget my mistakes about restaurants.)
I’ve been buying food here since they first opened decades ago. I can tell you they’ve gone completely downhill the last few years. Went there yesterday to try again after a couple of recent unsatisfactory purchases to see if it was really trending down. It certainly is! At 1:00, the had no BBQ pork. Told me more would be ready in 5 minutes. Turned out to be a 1/2 an hour wait. Instead of a rack of BBQ pork coming out of the kitchen like the old days, a pan with about 2 pounds came out. I asked for 1-1/2 pounds of lean pork and the guy just grabbed the bigger piece that was all jiggly (not lean) and assured me it was lean. Of course when I got home
This place is a scam. I purchased a roasted pig for our Thanksgiving gathering, and they removed the good cuts of meat and replaced them with dry, leftover pieces. Do yourself a favor and don’t buy from this place.
