Best Pizza!! Easy to find on the end of Lombard St. The heavenly aroma can be smelt before entering the quaint establishment. The service, price and pizza are so worth the wait. It is a fun happen pizza place!! Enjoy the yummy pizza on the outside patio! Don’t miss out on the place when coming to San Francisco!!
BEST NY PIZZA I'VE EVER HAD, best pizza I've ever had ! Tiny place, not fancy at all but the pizzas are brilliant. I was served by the owner, friendly and polite, while the cooks were making my pizza in front of my eyes. They even have a little patio outside with condiments provided. Strongly recommend this place !
We had veggies pizza slices. Lots of fresh veggies, including fresh mushrooms. Thick slices of fresh tomato. While eating we saw them going next door to a market to purchase produce. Tasty crust seemed to us to be home made. A few tables indoors and a few outdoors. Reasonable prices.
Really amazing pizza. They sell by the slice and toast it up hot before they give it to you. So much character here. Eat inside or out. It has a bike lock. Little corner market nearby. Right next to the presidio in case you want to go for a walk or take your dog.
We had an evening baseball game out at Fort Scott, and I used it as an excuse to try out Pizzeria Avellino for the first time. We ordered 5 pies ahead of time with different options. All five were done right for the time that I ordered, they weren't sitting around getting cold and stale for half an hour before I picked them up. All 5 pies were absolutely demolished by our players and their parents with everyone exclaiming how good they were. Pizzeria Avellino definitely has my business moving forward!
Great little Pizza joint, Pizza is delicious. Staff very friendly Always worth to go there...!
Friendly, quick service for a yummy, crispy slice of pizza!
The best bang for your buck in SF. This might be the last affordable place in SF to get a meal. The pizza is really good and the staff is always nice. I like to sit on their outdoor patio with a beer and a pizza and relax with the nice view of the big trees in the Presidio.
One of the best Pizza places I have EVER had in my life and I'm 46 and well-traveled... Every time we are in SF it's a planned stop that we look forward to in the days leading up. They make a crust that balances a crunching crust and sturdy bottom to support delicious, and fresh, piled on toppings and generous cheese...in the perfect combination that creates a perfect pizza. They also make a great meatball sandwich and the salads are delicious... We have never had bad food or a less than great experience here... Over 20 visits.. THAT'S SAYING SOMETHING!!!
Good by the slice pizza, and the nicest owner. Would also recommend the cheesesteak for a quick bite!
Yea! Tasty HUGE pizza by the slice. Soda fountain had no ice but Coke cold anyways due to weather. Rainy SF day with great pizza for lunch. I like how the sales guy heated the pizza in a real pizza oven for about five minutes to warm it up and make it crispy. Place was crowded here at noontime.
I really like this place! Great friendly service. Love the thin crust. $10 = slice + draft beer.
First of all I want to clarify that I have never eaten at this place before. The review will simply be about my experience here. I do not live in SF. A few weeks ago, I was visiting a relative there and while taking the bus, I got off at the wrong stop and got lost. I was very scared because I’m just a girl alone in a relatively empty street and my phone just happened to die not too long after. I tried everything, taking the next bus, walking a few minutes to try to find the street I was supposed to meet my relative at but it was 7pm and too cold so I just stood there at the bus stop defeated. Just praying and praying that I could find a way to solve this issue of mine which is when I noticed a man who kept looking at me with a concerned expression on his face from the store across the street from me. I tested my luck and crossed the road. The same man immediately walks out of the store with a warm smile on his face and asks me if I wanted a free slice of pizza. I was overjoyed, and so happy that this man had kind intentions and somehow noticed me struggling. Though I had to refuse his offer because I was fasting at the time, I made sure he knew I was thankful. Then he offered I go inside his pizza place because it’s warmer than outside. He told me I could make a phone call when I asked and he was overall very kind. He kept asking if I was sure about the pizza. He was even cleaning the place but made sure I was comfortable. I know I didn’t have any of his food but it sure smelled great. I am not in sf anymore but if and when I do go back, I’m going to this place firsthand and supporting this business. Owner, if you’re reading this, I’ll never forget your kind gesture.
Pizza Avellino is a wonderful local place for a quick slice of delicious pizza! They stay open later. This makes walking through the Presidio and then stopping off for a reasonably priced evening evening meal and easy thing to do in this part of San Francisco. They pay attention to what you ask them to do when you pick your slice and specify a type of of crispiness that you want the slice to be. The guys running the place the night I came in are nice and quick. Tables were clean. My slice of pepperoni arrived cooked perfect. For the $6.00 cost it tasted great. I'll be back for a future stop the next time I am in the neighborhood.
My friends and I got the 18-inch pizza, 12-inch cheesy bread, and horchata. The drink cost 4$. Everything really good would come again.
Very authentic and the ingredients were freshly chopped and placed on the pizza when ordered. Enjoyed this spot, right around the corner from the Walt Disney Family Museum. Outdoor dining as well. We paid about $35 for a medium Lombard and 2 drinks.
Great pizza shop rated 4 1/2 stars. Near the Presidio & Palace of the Fine Arts. Great local pizza 🍕 shop. Nice neighborhood to walk around. Walked to from Palace of the Fine Arts.
Nice if you like doughy 🍕 🍕 🍕. The meat is my favorite. Went on a nice warm day and enjoyed a beautiful slice on the patio for $5.50. Easy parking too
Bought 2 slices today as a quick bite after walking around in the area. Slices were pretty big, good, crispy and cheesy. For example, size comparison I'd say like a Sbarro or Costco slice, maybe slightly bigger. One of the best new York style slices around. Will definitely keep them on our list for anymore visits when in San Francisco. Might even stop by again right now. Stopped by again in December and still as delicious. will keep visiting.
Large slices heavily loaded with toppings. One is more than enough for the average person. The inside is not fancy. Prices were reasonable.
Absolutely delicious pizza. Very friendly staff! A must try if you're in the area 🤗
Great, thin pizza that you can load with lots of tasty and delicious toppings! Nice corner location across the street from the SF Presidio and a Lucas Film museum/office thingy. Great slice! I'll be back next time I am in the city!

Got a combination pizza and it was great! Fast and friendly service as well. Would definitely recommend stopping by if you want good quality for an affordable price.
The service is always good and fast. Good people work there. The pizza is excellent.
We just happened to find this spot because it was close to where we were staying, and we areso glad to find it!!! The staff were amazing, so friendly!!! The veggie pizza was delish, the ingredients tasted fresh, the crust the right amount of crisp. Just fabulous!!! The mozzarella sticks were amazing too!!! Just overall a great experience and we will def come back again!!!!
One of the best pizzas I ever ate. Im definitely going back when I visit San Francisco again

It's good. It's good NY pizza in SF. It's not NY pizza, but it gets the craving satisfied. It's a small place with a patio and serves beer and wine just outside of the Presidio. We usually order a pepperoni pizza, and can be in and out in about 30-45 min. The staff there is always cool, so no complaints there.
The Lombard was exceptional., perfectly balanced and a great combination of meats and vegetables. The ham and pineapple pizza was great but was truly made by the arugula salad added to the top. On its own however, the arugula salad I would not recommend, it was far too acidic and the pickled onions had a very strange flavour. The toilet in the establishment, was not pleasant, and even stranger was the journey to get to it, customers had to walk through the kitchen area to get to the toilet at the back of the room.
In the area, we stopped in here to grab a couple of slices for a quick lunch. The serving size is a decently large slice, and they have a good variety of pizza to choose from for the lunch slices. The pizza dough is a relatively thin and crispy crust, foldable, but not floppy. The sauce was flavorful, but not remarkable. The combined flavors of the pizza was exactly what I was looking for and was satisfying. Overall, I'd stop here again for lunch!
Quick and fast little pizza joint with outside seating. The pizza is very crispy crust something I like but it's not that thin slices are large. I ended up getting two slices when I really only needed one. I got the chicken pesto and the pepperoni Pesto I would give 7.5 out of 10. Not too greasy like many other pestos can be and the pesto flavor was strong but not overpowering. The chicken was also big chunks and very good. The pepperoni I would give a 7.0 out of 10. Nice tangy pepperonis not too spicy. Pepperonis were a little small but they had a good amount on the pizza. The cheese was very well melted. Nothing too greasy or oozy that falls all over the place. Would definitely come here again. Service was extremely fast. I was in and out of the restaurant less than 10 minutes.
Solid slices and a nice spot to sit and enjoy the view of the Presidio. Friendly staff. We'll be back!
Today was my first time trying Avellino Pizzeria but it’ won’t be my last. Pizzeria Avellino uses only the freshest ingredients around, ensuring that every dish is of the highest possible quality. Conveniently located five (5) minutes away from the Palace of Fine Arts, this pizzeria is a great place to stop in for a bite if you’re exploring the city of San Francisco. Avellino has several speciality pizzas, such as, The Lombard Pizza, Fuggedaboutit Pizza, and Veggie Jackson Pizza are all prepared quickly and made fresh to order. Due to COVID, there is no dine-in options, but, they have an outside patio with four (4) tables that customers can sit and enjoy their food at. I ordered the large classic pepperoni pizza, and it was good. It was perfectly priced ($21.00) and had eight (8) large slices, which is perfect if you’re sharing. The only issue I had was that the pizza was a bit greasy, but, what pizza isn’t. This is definitely a pizzeria worth checking out.
Pretty solid slice of pizza. The sauce could be a bit better, in my opinion. About $4.50 for a slice. Which is a bit higher than NYC.

Great place for a slice at the Lombard Gate. Perfect to sit outside for a break without the crowds of Chestnut Street

Update: This place used to be our go to but this year they raised the prices to abhorrent levels. The pizza we used to get for $29 is now $40. $40 for a medium pizza is just too much. Pizza is so good, and the people that work here are nice.
Pizza was about average. We came around 7pm on a Sunday so that is probably not the best time for the freshest pizza by the slice. The staff was nice and it is very close to the presidio and the electric chargers. The place was not hygienic and it was pretty messy though. It wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t that good either.
Pizzeria Avellino is a decent hole-in-the-wall pizza place that is a great place to stop for a slice near the Palace of Fine Arts. Ended up getting our slices in around five minutes; service is a bit brisk and preferred cash, but he got us our pizza in five minutes. Portions are huge (should've gone with one!) and it's around $6 a slice - practically unheard of in this day and age.
Everybody knows the rules, pizza slices were 6.3/10 - they were too thick for me and a bit old. It's a nice spot by Lombard and Lyon

A below-average pizza place. Their crust is not home-made, the slices are very greasy, and the service was pretty slow for how quiet it was. Disappointing, as I was expecting better after reading lots of positive reviews :(
As much as I'd like to like Avellino, it's just not great. The slices always seem to be sitting there a while, they are thick slices which isn't my personal preference and there's not a lot going on in the space. That said, the staff are all friendly and it's certainly an okay spot to satisfy a slice craving.
Why you guys do not have cheese pizza??
Pizza was burned. Some Ingredients were on wrong pizza for our 2 slices. Croutons were super stale. Root beer was great. Price was not cheap for what we got. Would not go here again. Mural on side of buildings was being painted, and loved that.
Worst food EVER! Pizza was barely edible, the wings overcooked and dry, the "garlic fries" were regular French fries with a half a teaspoon of minced garlic on top 🤣 and we ordered 2 pieces of chocolate cake and got 2 pcs of cheesecake lmao! Overall we paid $88 total for 1 large meat lovers; 12 pcs Hot wings; 1 order of garlic fries and 2 pcs of cake. Don't order out that's a guaranteed ripoff 🤣🤣
This isn’t actually one star pizza, it’s just one star pizza in San Francisco. Came here for an afternoon slice. The tomato sauce is OK. The toppings were OK. But the crust tasted like cardboard. In a city with so many good options, it feels a little criminal. For slices I prefer Primo on Divisadero.
