All I can say is wow the margarites we're really great. We got sour cream nachos and meat and cheese nachos I loved them both. They do offer a lot of great Mexican food. You get what you pay for I'll leave it at that and its quality. Staff was great they even took our picture and they had a nice terrace.
We just had a fantastic dining experience! Despite being on a business trip and having a tight schedule, we made sure to visit this gem that we discovered years ago. The food and service were just as excellent as I remembered - authentic flavors and top-notch service. A definite must-visit if you're in the area!
Esparza's Mexican restaurant in Grapevine, TX is a hidden gem. The food is flavorful and authentic, with a wide range of options to satisfy any craving. The service is top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who go above and beyond to make your dining experience enjoyable. The atmosphere is lively and vibrant, perfect for a casual night out with friends or a fun family dinner. Don't miss out on their delicious margaritas, they are a must-try! Overall, Esparza's is a fantastic choice for Mexican cuisine in Grapevine.
Coming from San Antonio, Tx where TexMex is the thing, I was quite surprised to find out how great the food at Esparza's was. I had the Pollo Monterey which was very very tasty and highly recommended. The taste of the tender grilled chicken with the sour cream sauce was on point. The tortilla soup was also delicious and packed with flavor. Our server was attentive and super friendly which certainly made for a pleasant experience. For such a very busy night, no customer was kept waiting. Very well managed operation. If you are in Grapevine, Tx I highly recommend you try Esparza's.
Esparza's is a shining jewel amidst the bustling downtown Grapevine landscape. Its a great escape frome the ordinary. Family owned and you can tell. So much care goes into the training of the staff, the preparation of the food and the way they treat you as a customer! It's always a great visit. Make a point to sit on the patio if the weather allows.
We specifically went there because we had a guest who was gluten sensitive and they didn't disappoint! Kids had a great time and they provided a printed gluten free menu for guest to choose easily. Servers were attentive and food came without too long a wait even though they are already busy around 430pm on a Friday afternoon. Lot's to choose from and many families with little ones enjoying time together. Even had photographer on staff who offered to take pictures. And ample parking spaces in downtown Grapevine which is hard to find! 👍🏻
My first time this place was jacked jacked up with people if go you have go early. You go there late there will be line a very long one to get in, escape the line head to the bar you drink and get a small bite while you are. Waiting for table . ( don't be fooled bar is also packed but you will get served quicker if you are starving or pershed as I was ) and yes fellows the ladies are somesingle some not it still and all around family place settting but if you are grapevine definitely the place to stop I gave them low scores on food since I only had one meal thr stream fajitas which was aweeeessomme watch those crazy margaritas 🍹 they will Creep up on you .they only got 3 stars for service because for a place that is so busy they should be better why because they are busy all the time so the need plan and coordinate there staff more effectively but please still go you wil enjoy.
Very pleasant experience - randomly found this restaurant trying to go somewhere else. Their salsa is served warm with some heat, but not too spicy. Very good. Enjoyed the house margarita. The fajitas were great. Service was good, staff were pleasant and attentive. Parking lot was packed, but food came promptly. Would definitely come back.
We were staying at Great Wolf Lodge but looking for a restaurant outside of the hotel to eat dinner. There's 6 of us (4 teens) with varying taste buds and we all agreed it was some of the best Mexican food we've ever tasted. We came 45 minutes before close and stayed at least 30 minutes after and still received excellent service. The food was delivered to our table incredibly fast and yet was still made to perfection. Love the salsa!
Brisket tacos were fantastic! The food came out amazingly quick, almost as if there was no way it wasn’t being prepared before we ordered it. Also got a swirl margarita, and it was average (which is not a bad thing). The salsa is definitely one of the spicier salsas I’ve had at a Mexican restaurant, but it didn’t bother me. For a casual eater, though, it may be a bit too hot. It was definitely loud in there and was very crowded for a Saturday night.
Fantastic Experience for a Large Family Gathering! We originally had a reservation for about 65 people at another restaurant in Grapevine, but they unexpectedly closed a few weeks before our event. Scrambling to find another spot, we reached out to Esparza’s Restaurante Mexicano. Even though they don’t typically take reservations, their team was incredibly kind and encouraged us to come at our desired time and they would do their best to accommodate us. We showed up at 5:00 PM on a Saturday evening with our large group, and with only a short wait, they managed to seat all of us together in a side room near the front—what a gift! The service was truly top-notch. The staff was attentive, friendly, and handled our large group with ease and professionalism. By the time we left at 7:00 PM, we were all full, happy, and so thankful we chose Esparza’s for our family reunion meal. You know how family gatherings can be—lots of people, lots of moving parts—but everything went smoothly, and the atmosphere made our time together even more special. Highly recommend Esparza’s for great food, excellent service, and a welcoming environment, even for large groups!
Great food, like the salsa served warm and mixed chips. Good atmosphere. Unfortune server glass dump near us.
We had a great experience! They have a fantastic patio, just have to be careful what time of the day you are there because sometimes the sun hits pretty strong (in the late afternoon). The food is very good. I had cheese enchiladas with fajita beef, my wife had spinach quesadillas. Both were very tasty. The margaritas are awesome and are inexpensive for what you get. Service was great. Highly recommended!
We have been to Esparza's twice and enjoy the food, service, and atmosphere. Server never came back to collect our group's separate checks, nor clean off the table so we could linger at the table longer to talk to our cousins.
I remember eating at Johnny's place many times when I worked in grapevine 32 years ago. Good times. Great food. Johnny enabled me to get autograph from Terry Bradshaw. Akways liked Johnny ezparza and his food. Johnny loves his cowboys
Food was super good! I had the Cantina Taco Dinner, and the food came out surprisingly fast and was well-priced. It was a warm, sunny day out and the outside seating was very pleasant! Our server was also fantastic and made sure to adjust the table’s umbrella to prevent the sun from beaming my group in the eyes
Absolutely phenomenal experience at Esparza's! My daughter, her girlfriend, and I visited today, and it exceeded all expectations. The service was top-notch, with attentive staff ensuring our every need was met. The food? Absolutely mouthwatering! Each dish was bursting with flavor and let me tell you about the enchilada sauce - hands down the best I've ever tasted! We ordered two of the Brisket Enchiladas and Tacos Al Carbon. Delicious! To top it all off, the girls ordered margaritas and were thoroughly impressed. Esparza's has truly mastered the art of creating a welcoming atmosphere paired with outstanding cuisine. Five stars all the way!
First time here from Plano, TX! I had the most wonderful, genuine, welcoming service from Jocelyn! She was attentive and fully immersed into providing the best experience. Quality of drinks and food was top tier, but her service finalized why I’d travel so far to visit again. Thank you, Jocelyn! We had a great experience because of your positive attitude.
food quality: 5/5 service: 5/5 cleanliness: 5/5 value: 5/5 Tried out Esparza’s tonight and it was some pretty good Tex Mex! We had a group of 10 that was originally going to be a 25 minute wait on a Tuesday, but it ended up being only 5, which was fantastic. The staff was super nice and did a great job accommodating our group of 10 (that also staggered in arrival times) and was very patient. Once they took our orders, the food was quick to arrive and came out fresh. We ordered the guacamole and queso, both of which were delicious! For my main course, I ordered the brisket quesadilla which I thought was going to be a basic quesadilla, but the brisket was surprisingly tender and well-seasoned. The atmosphere was very lively and decor was appetizing to the eyes. Definitely recommended for anyone in the Grapevine area!
My son and I ate lunch here today. I used to eat here back in the '90's, not long after they first opened their doors in '85. The interior of the house has had a lovely renovation, but the food, service and atmosphere are genuinely as spot on as it was over 25 years ago!! Endless chips and salsa are provided throughout the meal. Our food was brought out to the table within 5 minutes of placing the order. I had the Sonora Dinner and my son ate the Burrito Con Queso. Everything was delicious. Daniel was our server and he was awesome, thanks for a great lunch.
We have been coming to Esparza's for over a decade, and I'm only just now reviewing it! It's very long overdue! I absolutely love Esparza's. Since my first visit, I fell in love with their Burrito con Queso. I've actually never had anything else. But it's perfection. I've been to countless other Mexican restaurants trying to find a better burrito, and only found one that comes close (La Mesa in Joshua, TX). Esparza's salsa and queso is also delicious. Their chips have that fun multi-colored flair. The atmosphere is bright, and the service is top-notch. Margaritas are sooo good, too. Parking is available behind the restaurant, which is amazing because my first visit years ago, it was hard to find street parking. It's well lit so that even at night, you feel safe coming and going. I don't live near Grapevine, but every time I'm in the area, I visit Esperza's! It will always be a family favorite.
“American Mexican” food is ok -to-delicious. It depends what you order or what you are comparing the Mexican cuisine to. Great trained staff- friendly and efficient. It’s nice to see a restaurant with plenty of waiters. I was also how quickly the food was prepared on a busy Saturday night.
Amazing find! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect for a family lunch. The portions were a great size. The Queso Royale was a perfect start! Our server Edgar was amazing. He answered our questions with a smile and kept making sure everything was good. The house margaritas on the rocks was very smooth! And the price was perfection. You will not regret! Super quick too. Be sure to ask for Edgar!
The combo fajitas were AMAZING!!! This was probably the best Mexican food I’ve ever had in my life! The service was amazing we were sat with hot chips and salsa immediately, and our food came out in a very timely manner despite them being super packed! I will definitely be back
stopped by with a friend on Friday evening. It was a beautiful night and the outdoor seating wait was about 30mins. Indoors, there was no waiting. We opted to sit inside. We shared a fajita plate and ordered extra tortillas. There was plenty of food. I had a swirled margarita, which was delicious. The service was fantastic. I would come back again
My family of five dined at Esparza’s on the night 28 November and had the most delicious Mexican meal! Hands down, our waiter, Adrian, was the nicest, most attentive waiter we had in Grapevine! Our water glasses were never empty. We ordered brisket quesadillas, chicken enchiladas, steak fajitas, and chicken Ala Esparza. All was great! We would recommend 10 out of 10!
Had an excellent experience here! The food was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere was welcoming and clean, and everything came out quickly. You can tell they take pride in what they do. definitely one of the best meals I’ve had in a while. Highly recommend!
Great service. Came in around 930 and was starving. I sat at the bar and was treated as if I was the first customer of the day, instead of the ine so close to closing. I've been there..lol. My food came out quickly and Able was superb.
We wanted somewhere with a patio and a good margarita, and this place was perfect for both! Their strawberry frozen margarita was one of the best I’ve ever had and the lime on the rocks was very strong so my husband was pleased. The salsa had a good heat and the chips were warm. Our food was delicious too! I ordered the Cantina Tacos and my husband the Brisket Quesadilla. When in Texas, hey? We would definitely order both again and will be back if we’re visiting in the future! Can’t recommend enough!
We had a wonderful lunch today and a great server, Max. We were happy with our warm salsa and we ordered some delicious queso. We both ordered a different type of an enchilada meal. We will definitely be back! Very good food.
I was on a business trip in lovely Grapevine and was looking for a good lunch location. I was impressed by the previous reviews and decided to give this place a try. There is plenty of parking, outdoor and indoor seating. I was seated immediately and the chips n salsa arrived right after. The chips were very good but the red salsa was not spicy. I asked the staff if they had a more spicy salsa and they brought me the green salsa, which was the exact amount of heat I was looking for. I ordered the Cantina Chicken Tacos. My food arrived really quickly. I told myself I was going to only eat half of my lunch now and take the rest home in a box. It was so good I ate it all! 😂 The staff were very friendly and did not rush me. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves delicious, authentic Mexican food. I can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu!
I went here to celebrate 🥳 my birthday 🎂! The staff was on point! It was about 15 of us. They made us feel right at home! The food and drinks were delicious 😋! That was my dinner. Mexican Pizza 🍕! It was soooo good!
We tried this place and loved it. It’s kind of off the beaten path in a neat area of Grapevine and the food is SO good. We had quesadillas and carne asada and loved it! Cheese dip and salsa are wonderful as well!!
Food was fantastic! Glad we chose to share because the portion was huge! Just wanna shout out to Christian the host because he was on it! It’s a beautiful day so he immediately asked about outside, and then asked if we wanted shade or sunshine, when we said sunshine, he even placed the menus in the seats getting the most sun! Happy to have checked this place out and will definitely be back!
I enjoyed a date night with my husband. We shared the queso flameado which was stellar! I also love that you can order most entrees a la carte. I got a chile relleno by itself since I can never finish my plate.
Saw they call themselves the Margarita Capital of TX so we had to try it. Ordered a large Esperanzita and it was good but $19 caught me off guard. Small was $11 on the menu so I assumed large would be around $15. Should've asked. The fajita queso made up for it though, big portion and really tasty. Service was excellent too so I'd still say check it out.
We ( party of four) ate dinner on a busy holiday evening. We were seated immediately, as there are plenty of tables. Service was courteous and efficient. Once we ordered, food was served quickly. I would describe the atmosphere as festive and homey, not too loud. Food was delicious. I would recommend to anyone wanting good Tex-mex. Also very convenient to downtown Grapevine for all the Christmas decorations and activities.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Had a wonderful lunch at Esparza’s! We sat on the patio, and it was perfect—nice weather, comfortable seating, and not too noisy at all. Our server was extremely attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was excellent, full of flavor and served fresh. Prices were a little on the higher side, but that’s to be expected in Grapevine and the quality made it worth it. Portions were lunch-sized, which was just right. Overall, a great experience and definitely a spot I’d come back to!
Fantastic!!! One of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve been to in my 2 years in the USA!! Beautiful ambience, fast service, lovely staff and most importantly, delicious and great food!!!!! Definitely worth a visit! Would recommend and come back for more!! We had brisket enchilada and beef chimichanga.
Came here on a busy Friday night. I sat inside, place is massive both outside and inside. It was rather loud, lots of people talking, Lorena my waittress went above and beyond to make sure I was topped off with Lemonade and water throughout my meal. I ordered the Enchiladas Especiale without mushrooms, double refried beans, and two salsas that were mixed in. Delicious. Lorena has a great personality and was very friendly, I tipped well, and had a pleasant evening out solo. Thank you, Lorena. I would recommend coming here to eat, great location, quite nice outside in the evening but I'm not a huge fan of the climate here. If you are, you'll enjoy it. Great last night out in the DFW area.
Post workshop meal with the partners! This place has been recommended to me many times but just hadn’t had the chance to go but finally made it and it was worth the wait! Bar side was cool, fast service and the drinks almost made me want to drink a margarita! The food was, as expected, deeeeeeeelicious! The appetizer platter had a little bit of everything…the tortillas were made fresh in house and my tacos al carbon had some of the best seasoned, tender chunks of steak…The best bite though was the WARM salsa…never had it before but I’m eating it that way from time to time! If you find yourself in the area, check them out and tell Antonio I’m still waiting on my back rub! He took care of our party of 22 by himself (and some runners)
Upon arriving we were seated quickly. The service was fast and friendly, chips and salsa were amazing. We ordered fajitas however they were under cooked and did not have much flavor. The overall experience being a traveler was mediocre. If your just passing through you’ll get quick service but lackluster food
This is a good everyday Tex-Mex spot. The food is always good and has lots of flavor (there are times where you can taste the difference in how the fajita was cooked - maybe different chefs). Drinks are great there and at a fair price. The staff is really friendly and attentive. Located right off Main St. and I highly recommend giving this place a shot!
We were seated right away, but the service was slow. Other tables being seated were greeted right away by a server, but it was almost 15 mins later when someone finally came to our table. We had the fajita for two and the dish was really good. The place looks small from the outside, but it's really big.
We decided to try this Mexican Restaurant due to the reviews. We tried a variety of items and the only thing that we thought could be done better would be to grill the onions and peppers better as they were barely cooked on the fajitas. Other than that the flavors were good and everyone enjoyed their meals.
They sat us down within 15 minutes. My husband and I shared a chimichanga that was good. My cousin had the enchiladas brisket and said it was dry and tough. For the most part it was a great atmosphere. Price was reasonable.
Super delicious Mexican food! Service was great! Very nice outdoor seating with music. Great ambience! A great variety on the menu. A little disappointed in the dessert choices, they only had kids desserts which did not look/sound appealing. Would definitely return to try other things on the menu!
Very family friendly, it gives a feeling of being home eating with friends, party style. Dishes are Tex-mex. Margaritas are just ok. Try “chicken ratones”, that’s the name of the stuffed jalapeños, they’re very good. Very friendly service, clean place. We eat on the patio, it was a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I’m giving four stars because my order, “tacos al carbon”, was lacking seasoning, presentation, tortillas were not warm and meat was tough.
I have to judge this by food quality only since it was takeout. But the entire takeout process was excellent. We had even left a critical bit of information off of one item, the fried avocado, so they waited for us to arrive to finish rather than get it wrong. Speaking of the fried avocado, it was wonderful. In fact every item we ordered was very good. Servings were excellent in size. I thought their salsa was particularly good for a restaurant, which is probably why hey sell it by the jar. They rave about their margaritas, but I found the ones we ordered to be pretty ordinary and not better than any other restaurant. I look forward to dining in someday because the entire patio and inside look very inviting. So, judging by our food and our pick-up experience, I would give this a strong 4 stars.
Overall decent, but our chips seemed to be "bottom of the barrel" 1/3 crumbs, then waited quite a bit until we flagged the waiter down to get a refill of chips to finish off our small cup of queso which is tough to swallow at $9.99, however chips and salsa were still served warm. We split a combo fajitas which were good, but it's probably the only place Ive ordered fajitas and the set up didnt come with some sour cream and shredded cheese. When I asked for/ordered some sour cream it came with an additional charge. So, not sure if it stated any different on the menu or not about the setup, but didnt bring it up after since the meats turned out pretty good.
The food was delicious and the portions reflected the price paid - I was especially delighted by the enormous basket of complimentary chips for the chips & salsa! While the dinner prices were a little more expensive than your average tex-mex meal in the area, there was plenty of food for leftovers. I particularly enjoyed the variety of meal options that combined different popular items, allowing for unique combos. While the food was excellent and the eclectic decor incredibly beautiful, our service was a little on the slow side. This is definitely not a place to be in a rush. My only other complaint was that the stunning, painted high ceilings made the dining room incredibly loud, and difficult to hold a conversation. This was especially true considering the numerous families with loud young children - this is definitely a family-friendly establishment, so if you’re going for a romantic date night, perhaps look elsewhere. However, I would absolutely recommend Esparza’s as a delicious option to celebrate a special event with the whole family!
Good (not great) Mexican! Solid service, ordering to delivery was fast, and it was a good atmosphere. We went on a Thursday night right after a downtown festival ended - our party of 5 was still seated immediately and it wasn't too crowded. The fajitas were overcooked and not very tender. We would've liked more flavor/spice in most of the dishes. The salsa was good and not watery, and the queso was well done. The tortillas were freshly made. The mango marg was delish! We will definitely be back when we're wanting a solid Mexican option close-by.
The atmosphere was great. Service was a little slow but friendly. Food was medicore. The steak was chewy but the portions are massive. My friends food was more room temp then hot so she only ate one thing and didn't touch anything else and for $70, the food should be more enjoyable.
This is a cute Tex-Mex spot in the middle of Grapevine. Margaritas were tasty but not really impressive. Friendly staff. Food was good, quantity and quality wise. The building is very nice and the mural in the ceiling is amazing. I rate atmosphere with 3 stars cuz people were talking so loud so it was not the best atmosphere, but I associate it with the margaritas the people drank during happy hour 🍻… btw the place is not pet friendly 🐾🚫
It was so loud we couldn't talk across the table. The food was marginal at best. The service was pretty good. Almost a little too aggressive.
Our server was older, very nice but very laid back.....the complimentary chips came out hot which I like. Ordered a side of quaso, which was very good. The salsa was very tomato like, but once you added in some spicy salsa, it was good! We shared the chimichanga as it was just a quick light meal. Ordered the beef...to my surprise was cubbed, not ground?! We were not told that when ordering or were given an option....so that was disappointing. I had just a tiny bit as that's not my favorite type of beef to eat.
I can understand the draw of this place. Good location, just a block off Main St in downtown Grapevine and they have a good sized patio. It’s a bit bigger inside than I expected to see from the outside. It was busy, basically full. Inside was a bit loud since it’s mostly an open dining room. I went recently with my wife and son. The food was below average to me. The chips and salsa had store bought quality to them (like from a jar type salsa). The three entrees we had all missed the mark. Very simple preparation and presentation. Prices are comparable to other Tex Mex in the area but felt high given the quality of meal we had. Service was fine but nothing special. Like I said it was busy so I’m sure they’ll do just fine but I wouldn’t recommend it. Maybe for a drink on the patio.
I was looking for a good authentic Tex-Mex experience and saw good Google reviews and was recommended by an Uber driver to Esparza’s. I found it to be just okay. Everything except the Queso was pretty bland. The rice had almost no flavor. The tacos al carbon were dry and not very flavorful. If it wasn’t for the sour cream and pico de gallo on the plate they wouldn’t have been salvageable. The service was quick and fairly attentive. The complementary salsa was the most bland salsa I’ve ever had, it tasted like crushed tomatoes straight out of the can with nothing added. Some of the chips were half-stale. Our table was incredibly wobbly, so between our two different bites it was like eating at sea.
Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram at SNDTRAVELS and EATWELLTRAVELOFTEN 11.11.24 lunch Set outside on the nice front patio enjoying a beautiful day. First time here and cheese enchiladas with chili con carne, rice and beans are my must pass test for any Mexican food restaurants. I also added a beef fajita taco to try. Diane had the chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce. Starting out, the chips and salsa were good and fresh. All of the rest of the food was well prepared and the beef was average tender. The big problem was that we both were underwhelmed with the flavors. Just not much in, really, all of it. The food was not bad, just not taste satisfying. The service was good and the atmosphere was nice. I would not be afraid to try it one more time, but I might bring my own seasoning. Can't give it two thumbs-up or two thumbs down. 🤔
I went here with some coworkers and I am not sure if I would come back. Unfortunately, it was a rainy day, so we couldn't enjoy the outdoors. The restaurant claims to have be the Margarita Capital of Texas. This claim has to be backed up and judged hard by any proud Texan. There should be an asterisk. The house margaritas are made with store bought mix. Nope. Their premium margaritas are made with in house mix, but it was very very sweet. The premium margaritas was good, but not the best I've had. Next, the service was awesome. Karla was out server and she was quick and kept our drinks filled. I ordered the steak Milanese. It looks like a chicken fried steak. I should have looked up a photo of it before ordering. I read "tenderloin," and I expected something different. The steak was tough and thin. I would not order it again. After thinking about it, I will probably give this place another shot.
The ambience, food presentation, and service (Max) were all very nice! But the quality? (Authenticity) of the food (food is like 1 Star tbh) i was so disappointed esp after all the really highly rated reviews. The food was like one step above a taco bueno. Great patio and parking for grapevine locals
Had the tortilla soup, which was lukewarm, no chicken, cheese was clumped up at the bottom, vegetable were not cooked, and had no taste. Sent back, and was not charged. The staff was super nice! The management looked over a couple of times but didn't say a word and didn't seem concerned. Rice and beans were tasty, lunch date said their salad was good.
I was not very impressed with the food. The person working at the front that greeted me was not pleasant. Seemed rather bored of their job. The food was average. The chips and salsa were quite salty. The queso was OK. Nothing special. I had the cheese enchiladas with the Verde sauce. There was not much flavor. I also had a crispy beef taco and it was OK but just not a lot of flavor or anything that was unique. I went in with high expectations. I personally will not be going back.
Reading the reviews on here and I completely disagree with how many good reviews this place has. The first time I went to this place, the service was subpar. This time around (2nd and last time I’m coming here) it was the same. We were seated quickly. However, it was freezing cold in here. Also, it is so loud and there’s no music. The tables were all so close together. It’s definitely more for families and children type of atmosphere. The food was meh for how expensive it was. Extremely greasy and just not at all flavorful. I’ve had better Tex Mex food. Apparently, their known for their margaritas. They were okay. Service was okay, but quick. Won’t be coming back unfortunately.
We were unfortunately very disappointed with our visit to Esparza's. After reading all the wonderful reviews, I was expecting flavorful Tex Mex. We ordered queso, the chicken enchiladas and Chile relleno. The relleno was smothered in sour cream that was almost gritty. The queso tasted like the fake cheese you get in the big cans. The chicken was dry in both dishes, with very little flavor. The beans tasted like canned refried beans, and the rice had zero flavor. Overall, the dishes just lacked seasoning. Salsa was good, and the only thing we enjoyed. Service is fantastic, which is the only reason I don't give a one star review. For an establishment that has been a staple in Grapevine for so long, we were expecting much better. This might be more of a place for those with picky eaters who like plain food. If you are looking for spice and bold flavors, I recommend you go elsewhere.
Being from the South side of Tucson, my sister knows I love Mexican food. During a week of visiting she chose Esparza's which by her admission she had not been to in 15 years. I read the room.... by the drink orders being delivered to the adjoining tables, and the overall makeup of the Patrons, it was evident NONE of them probably knew good Mexican food. Service was spotty, slow, and dismissive (but the purple shirts looked ok I guess). Overall theme was typical, and some cool photos and memorabilia on the walls. The food though..... if the salsa from the chips is homemade, then they have successfully nailed Pace Picante sauce blended down. The Queso was no Bueno and had almost no flavor by itself. I could, and did eat, my main dish (Brisket Enchiladas...I mean it's Texas folks...I had high hopes). Almost flavorless and I didn't even know that was possible. 2 of our party couldn't even take more than a few bites of theirs which were also flavorless. The (hamburger?) on the build your taco plate "looked like Taco Bell meat. My Sister was about to cry from embarrassment for even suggesting it. When they cleared our table they didn't even offer boxes for the virtually un-eaten meals (I think the kid knew too). It's not that the food is inedible. Its just basic, and not in the good Sunday morning Nana's breakfast kind of way. On the bright side the Margaritas are heavily advertised, which may correspond with the loss of their taste buds. Take the Margarita to go (no drinking while driving) and find a hole-in-the-wall nearby.
After reading the reviews online, my family and I decided to try this place out. What a mistake! First, the queso was very watered down. Second, my $12 plate of nachos looked very unappetizing and far from presentable. The grease alone was absolutely disgusting, which left my chips completely soggy. Forget trying to flag down our waitress, she dissapeared shortly after delivering the food. Lastly, I honestly feel this location is over priced. The quality is just not there. If I am paying $6 for a kids meal, I would assume the drink is included. Clearly, I was charged an additional $2.47 per kids drink. This was a very disappointing experience to say the least.
Our first visit to Esparza's left much to be desired. We arrived at 11am and were seated promptly on the patio. We did not go inside; however, the patio offers plentiful seating w shade and the music adds to a tranquil ambiance. Unfortunately, the ambiance does not make up for the lack in food flavor. For starters, the salsa is 99% tomato and the chips were just ok. The fajita enchiladas were topped w four slivers of dry & rubbery fajitas. The sauce and cheese on the enchiladas tasted as if they both came out of a can. The rice was dry & the beans were ok but nothing to rave about. The kid quesadilla was, plentiful, however, I would suggest better fitting type French fries to go w Mexican food if that's even a thing. The service from the bus boy was impeccable. He was on top of his game offering refills on chips, salsa & drinks. The server, however spent more time at the table across from us interrupting the server from their table. This is not the place to visit for good Mexican food.
Don’t let the five star reviews fool you, well at least that’s what happened to us. First of all the food has the quality of Taco Bell dollar menu items!! The prices are very high for portions. Even their salsas you can tell they are from a gallon you can buy at Costco. Our server was great super friendly and attentive.

Alright, folks, when you're in Arlington and craving some solid Tex-Mex, Esparzas is a name that often comes up.
