I always enjoy trying new restaurants, and this one did not disappoint! Although "Fireside by the River" has been around for some time, the new owner (Brian Holmes) has converted it from a location for holding events to a proper fine dining restaurant. The interior is elegant and upscale; the food that I tried was delicious; and the staff were warm and welcoming - thank you, Joanna and Angela! The menu has a variety of mouth-watering items, and I tried the Scallops on a truffle corn puree with mushrooms and bacon lardons - tres magnifique! I will be back often, with friends!

Hearing that the Fireside Inn had recently been purchased by a new owner and rebranded as Fireside by the River, I decided to stop in for a late dinner last night. The new owners definitely have got the place back on track. They have an updated decor and are trying a limited menu to ensure quality and consistency. After taling my drink order, the waitress dropped of a small loaf of bread that came right out ofnthe oven. It is the classic stretchy bread that I have only seen in one other place. The maple butter was very subtle and a nice accompaniment. I ordered the Bone in Ribeye Steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I have always felt that a great steak should stand on its own and not need any additional sauce or toppings. This one definitely hit the mark. It was a perfect medium, juicy, flavorful and every bite was as good as the previous one. The asparagus was grilled, lightly seasoned and still held its structure. For dessert I opted for the apple cheesecake. What I enjoyed about the dessert was the apples were strewn throughout the cheesecake versus being dropped on top where they can get dry. The flavor was sweet but not overwhelming which is a great way to end a meal. The staff was very attentive and I learned from speaking to the waitress that as they have just reopened the menu is limited for now but will be expanding shortly. I can't wait to revisit Fireside by the River as we get closer to the holidays!

Just got home from dinner and we are still talking about how delicious our dinners were! Crab Stuffed Haddock and Salmon dishes were on point. The broccolini had an amazing seasoning. Funny thing on a small item, but we both commented at the same time that the croutons from our salads melted in your mouth LOL We'll be back soon!

Fireside Inn has been under new management for only two months, now called Fireside By the River. It's been totally transformed from a banquet mill into a classy eatery. The new decor is contemporary and warm, with tasteful soft lighting, fireplaces and very comfortable furniture. Though this restaurant specializes in steaks & seafood, we were pleasantly surprised with their other dishes. Having spent a lot of time in Louisiana, we know the real deal when it comes to Cajun food. Fireside's shrimp & grits is spiced just right and was delicious. We also found their cauliflower steak dish delightful on the taste buds. The carefully prepared chimichurri sauce made the difference. Our neighbors raved about the pork chops, described as thick and succulent, and the crab-stuffed haddock. Our margarita was strong and had a bite. When the owner asked if it was to our satisfaction and we said, frankly, no, he immediately had his staff whip up a replacement to our liking at no extra cost. He is a serious restauranteer who seeks honest feedback from customers. Wait staff are attentive and very personable. Fireside under its new proprietorship is well worth a visit.

A group of us went to the Fireside to try the new menu since the new owners and chef took over. The staff was very responsive and attentive. We started with shrimp and grits, crispy tuna, along with the warm baked Brie. The grits were smooth and creamy, the tuna had a perfect cook, and the sweetness of the Brie paired up well. For dinner we ordered the Sea Bass, chicken supreme, and the prime rib. The prime rib was tender, sea bass cooked right and not overdone (my favorite), and the chicken was juicy with great flavor. I would recommend the Fireside and will definitely be back.

Went for dinner with Friends for the first time. Wow the place looks great. The atmosphere is perfect for a peaceful dinner. three of us had dinner last night for the first time. The ambiance is spectacular only to be exceeded by the food. Yes - it's a little bit pricy but soooo worth it! I ate the best steak I've ever had! Our waitress Mia was very attentive without being pushy. The atmosphere is very warm and steakhouse-like! We'll definitely be back for many more memorable dining experiences!

I went to see my dad in upstate n.y. He took me to here. The moment we walked in,was warm and inviting. I order scallops in a corn truffle puree and different kinds of mushrooms. Absolutely, scrumptious. My dad, roasted half chicken, had a bite or two. There signature loaded mash potatoes are really yummy...you want to lick your plate. 😆 The best for last,my dad's gf had linguine and clams. The sauce was boss!!! Very clean. Staff very nice and friendly. Rest room very clean. They play live music on the pain.No loud, just right. Definitely,go here again when I visit my dad. One more thing prices are reasonable.

We made reservations for our Anniversary, they put us at a cozy table for two in front of the fireplace. It was wonderful! The crab stuffed haddock was ahhhmazing! My husband had steak and said it was done and seasoned to perfection! We had Gabbiano Pinot Grigio from Italy to drink and we found a new favorite 😍! The wait staff was superb, they ended our evening with a Happy Anniversary complimentary dessert that made our hearts sing. So sweet of them to acknowledge our special evening/day! Thank you again for making our Anniversary so special!

We didn’t realize the Fireside had reopened. Drove by and decided to give it a try. Wow! What a change. Very elegant. Quiet background music. Everyone was friendly. Food was excellent and well presented. We ate at the beautiful bar (our choice) and the bartender, Dillion, added to the enjoyable experience. Large bourbon selection and three types of Old Fashions. We also talked to the owner Brian at great length. Definite plus for B’ville and the area!

I recently had the pleasure of hosting my son’s graduation party at The Fireside, and I couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. From the very start, the staff at The Fireside impressed me with their professionalism and attention to detail. First and foremost, the menu options and planning flexibility were exceptional. The Fireside’s team worked closely with me to create a customized menu that suited our preferences and dietary needs. They were accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure that everyone’s tastes were catered to. The venue itself is nothing short of stunning. The Fireside boasts a beautiful and spacious setting, which was perfect for our gathering. What truly stood out to me was the impeccable temperature control within the venue. Despite the external weather conditions, the interior remained comfortable throughout the event, allowing our guests to fully enjoy themselves without any discomfort. The food served at the party was absolutely delicious. The Fireside’s culinary team prepared each dish with great skill and attention to detail. The presentation was top-notch, and the flavors were outstanding. It was a relief to see our guests thoroughly enjoying the meal, as we didn’t have to worry about a thing. The Fireside’s commitment to providing high-quality cuisine truly shined through. Overall, I can confidently say that The Fireside made our graduation party worry-free and unforgettable. The combination of their excellent menu options, beautiful venue, and outstanding service surpassed our expectations. I highly recommend The Fireside to anyone looking to host a special event. They will go the extra mile to ensure your occasion is a resounding success. Thank you, Fireside, for creating lasting memories for my family and friends!

During my recent visit to Syracuse, New York, I stumbled upon Fireside by the river while searching for a dinner spot. To my delight, the restaurant had undergone a recent makeover, and the owners have truly outdone themselves with the stunning transformation. Not only was the food delectable, but the service was top-notch. I wholeheartedly suggest adding Fireside to your list of must-visit restaurants. Trust me, it's an experience you won't want to miss! Fireside by the river is gaining traction in the restaurant offerings in Baldwinsville. The main dining area in great for families or business groups. The bar area is very nice for a night out on the town. The food is very good. From burgers in the bar area for full dinners in the main dining area, give Fireside by the river a visit. You will not be disappointed.

Fireside by the River: A Dining Experience to Remember As someone who takes dining seriously but doesn’t claim to be a professional critic, I always appreciate when a restaurant surprises me in the best possible way. This past Thursday evening, my wife and I dined at Fireside by the River, a newly renovated gem under the ownership of Brian Holmes. From the moment we stepped inside, it was clear that Holmes has breathed new life into this space. The interior now feels modern yet cozy, creating the perfect ambiance whether you’re there for an intimate dinner or a large celebration. Adding to the atmosphere was live music by Ronnie Lee, whose gentle melodies provided a pleasant backdrop to the evening. It’s always a bonus when live music enhances a dining experience without overpowering it, and Lee’s performance hit the right note. One of the most pleasant surprises of the night was the oyster special. Every Thursday, Fireside offers oysters on the half shell for just $2 each, and I have to say, these were some of the best oysters I’ve ever had—fresh, briny, and an absolute steal at that price. We started with a bottle of Highlands Forty One Black Granite Red Blend from Paso Robles, California. At $32, it was an incredible value. Vivino ranks this wine in the top 2% globally, and I can see why. It paired beautifully with our meal, and was a delightful discovery. For appetizers, my wife ordered the shrimp cocktail, which was perfectly cooked and served with a cocktail sauce that had just the right amount of bite. It was a wonderful start to her meal. For the main course, my wife ordered the crab-stuffed haddock, and it did not disappoint. The haddock was as fresh as you could hope for, with a perfectly seasoned crab stuffing. Each bite was a testament to how seafood should be prepared—simple, fresh, and expertly cooked. Brian himself came by our table, and in conversation, he convinced me to try the hand-cut 14 oz Prime NY strip steak. Now, I’m not usually one to order a NY strip, but I’m glad I listened. I ordered it medium rare with the bourbon maple bacon compound butter, and it was, without a doubt, one of the finest steaks I’ve ever had. The sear was perfection, the temperature spot-on, but that compound butter? It elevated the steak to new heights. It was rich, flavorful, and complemented the meat in a way that left me savoring every bite. Now, I have to talk about the French fries. Yes, the fries. These skin-on beauties were perfectly crispy, seasoned to perfection, and honestly, one of the biggest highlights of the night. I never thought fries could impress me this much, but these would win any competition they entered. The service throughout the evening was exceptional. Our server explained the specials in detail, ensured our wine and food were expertly timed, and even brought out warm bread with another flavorful compound butter. The bread, with its crispy crust and soft interior, was the perfect way to start the meal. In short, Fireside by the River delivered an unforgettable dining experience. From the ambiance and live music to the expertly prepared food and attentive service, it’s clear that Brian Holmes has created something special here. Whether you’re a steak lover or a seafood aficionado, this is a place you don’t want to miss!

Fireside by the River is hands down one of the best restaurants. They went above and beyond to accommodate me and 19 guests for my birthday, providing a total of 20 of us with an incredible experience. They set us up in a secluded room towards the back with a beautiful glass door/wall, and the setting was absolutely stunning. The staff was amazing, especially our server though I didn’t catch her name who was attentive and on point the entire night. The owner even stopped by to introduce himself, check on us, and make sure the room was to our liking, including adjusting the temperature for our comfort. The atmosphere by the river in Baldwinsville was breathtaking, and the food was fantastic. They went above and beyond when two meals needed corrections, not only fixing them promptly but also removing them from the bill without hesitation. They even provided a candle and knife for my cake, which was such a thoughtful touch. A special shoutout to the bartender, who was just two weeks away from giving birth, for taking pictures of our group. Even though they closed at 9, they allowed us to stay until 9:30 without any rush and kindly split the bill for us. I can’t thank Fireside by the River enough for making my birthday so memorable. Their attention to detail and exceptional service made me feel truly special. The drinks were amazing (and strong!), the food was fantastic, and the entire experience was five-star service. I highly recommend this restaurant it’s truly a gem.

My husband and I came for our anniversary dinner. The atmosphere is very calming and welcoming! Our waiter, Dylan, was over the top amazing! My husband ordered the 24 oz Bone-in Ribeye, which was WAY over 24 oz's! It melted in your mouth, and the flavor is amazingly rich. (To think they only season with salt and pepper.) I had the 14 oz NY Stripe steak that was over the top, amazing and full of flavor! And they have these mashed potatoes with sauerkraut and pork...it is sauerkraut bacon mashed, and to me, they sounded gross, but let me tell you they too, had amazing flavor! The flavor was a mouth full of excitement. This was one of the BEST meals we have had since we were here last! Will definitely be back again!

I go every few months. Baldwinsville lacks a good restaurant that doesn't have "Angry" in the title. The food is always fantastic - I've never had a bad dish. Love the bar and the layout. Only drawbacks are it's not a cheap date, and sometimes the live music is a little too loud and impairs conversation during dining hours. Seriously, it's fine - I like the live music - just maybe turn it down a notch or three

In all my years of being a paid high-level reviewer, this has been by far my favorite place to review. Partly because the owner says "They can't stand reviews ". This honestly baffled me because this place as a whole sets the bar in every standard imaginable. The booking was easy to make. Upon our arrival the hostesses were friendly and cheerful. The atmosphere is both inviting and Cozy. Our waitress was one of the most informative and attentive service staff we've had the privilege of having, especially after the pandemic when the service industry has drastically gone downhill. Her recommendations were fantastic and her personal best was my go-to dessert (Creme Brule) that she made herself and easily made my Second best in that department. Seriously, a MUST try. (Thank me later) The entire meal was fantastic. Perfectly cooked, and abundant portions for the overall cost. The owner was extremely attentive rounding the tables and making sure everyone's expectations were met. This is the kind of hospitality is what reviews are made for. The ones who go the distance and take great pride in the amazing experience they've created. Five stars isn't nearly enough for what they deserve. Phenomenal!

I felt compelled to sing this place's praises as soon as I possibly could. My partner and I came here for a date tonight and our expectations were absolutely blown out of the water. Our server was incredibly sweet and attentive, and the owner was very kind and generous :) We were given a complimentary baked brie on top of our appetizers, all of which were delicious and comforting. Later on, i was even given two extra scallops with my entree. The food is delicious, beautifully plated, and filling. I would rate this place 6 stars if I could, and we will be back soon! (OH, and don't even get me started on the amazing live music)

Fireside by the River was a great experience. The restaurant itself is beautiful, spacious and set up for big parties and by the looks of it holding all kinds of events. The staff was incredibly friendly, accommodating and invested in us having a great dining experience. Drinks were well made and there is a very solid selection. The food was great to fantastic, with the whipped potatoes and warm brie being the ultimate highlights of our evening. Everything was delicious and the options were plentiful. It is expensive but in line to cheaper than other fine dining like experiences. The kicker, the portions were huge! Very impressed with them bucking the fine dining experience of less is more expensive. Delicious and plentiful is a I'll be back for more combo. Highly recommend getting your reservation now, Enjoy!!

We had a party of four, and every one of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the experience! Two people in our party had margaritas, and they were the best margaritas we’ve ever tasted! The pork belly was amazing as was the warm brie have never had brie served that way and it was Wonderful… Our steaks were cooked to perfection. The Chilean, Seabass and scallops are both fantastic! Make sure to try the sauerkraut and bacon mashed potatoes 💕The service was terrific. The atmosphere was great And the gentleman Cabernet Sauvignon was surprisingly good for the price by glass. Relatively speaking, this is pretty early in their process since the new owners took over and renovated, etc. the new Chef is amazing and we can’t wait to see how this restaurant truly develops. Highly recommend you give it a try!!

Excellent all around. Our first time there. There was no wait at about 5:45 on a Saturday night. It was the ambience I was hoping for. The classy and quiet supper club/lounge vibe. Our server Makayla was so sweet, friendly, and professional. She gets 10000/10. Took a bit for our drinks to get to us but we didn't mind. I could hear that they popped a fresh bottle of Prosecco for me. Love that. We got the crab and shrimp dip. It was good. Not what I expected. I think I tasted a lot of celery. Good app for bar side dinner. I'd give it 7/10. For entrees we got the stuffed haddock and the queen cut prime rib. Let me tell you, I will be back for that prime rib. Cooked perfectly. Juicy. Delicious. The seasonal vegetable was green beans. Cooked perfectly al dente with butter and garlic. I could've eaten my baked potato as an entree. HUGE. Nice and crispy and salty skin. And tender inside. I would give my entree 10/10. Hubby gave his stuffed haddock 8/10. We decided to disregard our full bellies and get the towering carrot cake. That was delicious. The only negative is that the middle of the slice was still almost frozen. I'd give it 8/10. We appreciated the owner/manager coming to say hello. We will definitely be back.

Wow .... I don't know where to begin so I'll say that from the excellent service, to amazing atmosphere, and terrific food, you cannot go wrong by trying this newest CNY gem. The staff is always amazing and considerate: they aim to please and satisfy their customers - Joanna (hope I spelled her name right) ... is an excellent host/manager/bar tender etc. - We absolutely love her ! Sweet and kind and always there for whatever you need. Re-vamping the old Fireside Inn to the new Fireside By The River was GENIUS ! We've been several times and will continue to come here as much as we can - our new go to place ! ***Their warm brie appetizer is truly outstanding!*** Sincerely, Rosanne and Peter

My wife and I went on a Thursday evening for cocktails and jazz music. We ended up staying for dinner and I'm glad we did. The cocktails at the bar were very good and the service was great. I can't say enough good things about the remodeled restaurant and bar. This is my new favorite place. A+

Though they are just getting going and had a computer glitch with our online reservation. They are very welcoming and got us a table very quickly. Now the food. Words can't describe the amazing flavor of the ribeye steak correctly. I eat a lot of steak and this by far was in the top 5 in Onondaga county. The asparagus was perfectly cooked and the silky smooth potatoes had such a great flavor with a touch of butter. Definitely a place to enjoy dinner! Baldwinsville growing gem!

You ever follow your instincts and act on a fleeting idea only to realize it was one of the best decisions you’ve made in a long time? That happened to us last night. For our anniversary we decided to go to Fireside by the River in Baldwinsville, and wow, are we glad we did. This is a hidden gem here in Central New York, and as selfishly as I would like to keep it that way - I know that this place deserves some attention. First, they did an amazing job with the inside. I love to go out to eat, so I’ve visited my fair share of restaurants, and walking into this one reminded me of the hard-to-reserve places you would see in NYC or LA. The attention to detail was clear, colors, lighting, layout, even the way the wood was stacked next to the fireplace let me know that the ownership here cares about your whole experience. This place was not planned on the back of a napkin, it was classy and comfortable. The staff was amazing - we were visited at least 5 times by the staff outside of our server, checking on us and just being friendly. The owner, the manager and even the bartender stopped by. During one of the chats we mentioned we were there for our anniversary, this will be important later in the story. The menu was great, with classic selections including apps, salads, surf and turf. I treated myself to a smoked old fashioned which was prepared well, excellent balance of garnish and ingredients finished with smoke added right at the table… okay, fine - I had two of them, let’s not judge. For dinner, We both selected a seafood dish, and wow. My wife had the scallops and I had the crab stuffed filet. Both were amazing. With no leftovers to be had. Finally, desert. We were both stuffed, so we opted to share a creme brûlée. Also amazing. Smooth, well prepared, but the kicker - how it came out. I shared the photo cause I won’t be able to describe it with any justice. In all - amazing experience, highly recommend and we will absolutely be back.

Me and my fiancé came here for her birthday. We were both stunned at how good EVERYTHING was. The server was great, the bread and honey butter were unreal. And we both got the 14oz steak and it was phenomenal and portions were large too. While it’s not cheap it is worth it for the quality of meal we both got. They even brought out a beautiful desert for her birthday on the house. I’m picky and truly everything was perfect. Couldn’t recommend more from our first experience. We will be back

I was celebrating my 20th wedding anniversary with my husband and chose this restaurant by chance. It was our first time there and we were very satisfied.

Wow! I gave up on the Fireside decades ago. When I visited recently for a company party, I couldn't believe how impressive it has become. The food was great. The atmosphere makes it one of the nicest venues around. Service was prompt, sincere and helpful. And, Brian the owner, made rounds to make sure everyone was satisfied. I can't wait to go back. My only criticism is they need to make more people know how much has changed. The regular dining area and bar deserve to be much busier. Too many people are missing out on this gem!

Had dinner there tonight 4/27/2024 with my wife and daughter. We went big and ordered a Wedge Salad, Maple Bacon Brussel Sprouts, Crispy Pork Belly and Shrimp Cocktail to start, Absolutely wonderful. My wife had the Prime Rib and my daughter and I got the NY Strip, all was cooked to perfection. Left a very generous tip of $90 on a $224 check because I was that impressed. We live in Clay and enjoy fine dining but don’t like to drive far for it. This was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommended.

This is now under new management and is called Fireside by the River and we have eaten here now a few times in the last month. The food was absolutely amazing. The prime rib was cooked to perfection and the flavor was out of this world. The French Onion soup, scallops, crab cakes and shrimp and grits were all out of this world. Great selection of cocktails and the service was top notch. This is a must try if you have not yet! Highly recommend!

Six of us went to dinner last night to celebrate my birthday. This is a group of women who get very silly and loud when we are together. Everyone at the restaurant got us. We had so much fun with the staff and the owner. The bartender Dylan and our waitress Billie Joe were wonderful. Three of us had the scallops and three of us had the stuffed haddock. everyone loves their meal. This is a place to go for a special occasion. The renovations are beautiful.

My wife and I drove here from Raleigh, NC, to visit family in the area. Forty years ago, while I was attending college, this was the place for Prime rib. This return visit was amazing. The new owner was very friendly and proud of his restaurant. He had every right to do so. Everything was excellent, and the Prime rib was even better than I remember! We had an exceptional evening. Thank you.

5 Stars does not do this place any justice! Saturday date night we were looking to go somewhere we have never been. While searching the web we found Fireside By The River and planed our evening. Walking through the doors we were instantly impressed. The restaurant is stunning! Off to our cozy table we went where we had an amazing meal with even better service. The staff is friendly and down to earth. The owner made his rounds checking on everyone while striking up some friendly conversation. After our desert we made our way to the bar and listen some great live music. The evening went on while we enjoyed the company of the staff, music and other customers. The owner stopped by again where we had an amazing conversation. We rarely turn dinner into such a long event but such a great establishment we will defiantly be doing this again! Thank you for an amazing night!

Came on a Saturday night. Band was unexpected and fun. Our server Mikayla was sweet and super attentive. The pork chop with maple glaze was worthy of a steakhouse charging 3 X the price. The ladies both had the salmon with the bacon Brussels sprouts with sauerkraut mashed potatoes...2 thumbs up. The strawberry salad with pistachio and champagne vinaigrette excellent. The wagyu perfect. Will be back.

My husband and I here for dinner last week. One of the best meals we have ever had at a restaurant! He had the NY strip and I had the pork chop. Both were absolutely amazing! From start to finish which was the towering carrot cake we would give 10 stars if we could! If you haven't been there please go! You will not be disappointed!

Exceptional food and price for the Sunday Brunch. The buffet which consisted of both breakfast and lunch were hot, flavorful, and freshly made. The prime rib with seasoned au jus was delicious and I must mention the soups, waffles with fruit, salads, and fresh shrimp. So much to select from I highly recommend the Fireside by the River. The price for the buffet was an affordable $24.95. Worth every penny!

Fireside by the river is one of my favorite places in the Syracuse area. I had the NY Strip steak which was cooked to perfection with great flavor and an excellent cut. The best part of my experience was "the perfect old fashioned", which was perfect. I think it's the best old fashioned I've had the area and I highly recommend it!

Would recommend! I don't usually review restaurants, but had a really great, memorable date night dinner here. I very much appreciated that they seem to really be trying to be a finer dining establishment... And they are succeeding. Food was fantastic, easily one of the best pork chops I've had in my life. Service was flawless. Bathroom was impeccable. Great live music too, on a Thursday! Only thing I can nitpick is that they are BY the river, not ON the river so don't expect water views, but the atmosphere and decor inside is fantastic. Hope to dine here again!

A Perfect Night at Fireside by the River I had the pleasure of dining at Fireside by the River in Baldwinsville, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is cozy yet elegant, with beautiful views of the river that make it feel like a hidden gem. I ordered the New York strip steak with a baked potato, and I can confidently say it was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and full of flavor with a beautiful sear on the outside. The HUGE baked potato was the perfect side—crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and loaded just right. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. You can tell the staff takes pride in what they do, and it really adds to the overall experience. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just looking for a great meal in a relaxed, scenic setting, I highly recommend Fireside by the River. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Fireside is warm and welcoming. The service has been on top of their game. If you go on the day their lobster and shrimp bisque is available you should get it. It's delicious.

The NYE buffet was very nice. All the food was fresh and well prepared. One comment…. While there were many choices it wasn’t very vegetarian friendly. Yes there were vegetables and salad but something substantial like a vegetable lasagna entree would have been good.

The food was delicious and plenty. Live band plays on Friday night. The restaurant gets very busy but if you go early around 5 pm you can get sitting without reservations.

I was very anxious to visit the Fireside as I grew up in Baldwinsville and remember the old restaurant. The renovations are beautiful and the dining areas are wonderful. We did not have reservations (arrived at 5:00) and were seated at a booth in the bar area although the dining area was 90% empty when we arrived and also when we left. Would have been nice to sit in the dining area. I was astonished at the menu prices-seemed rather over priced. Servers were attentive and polite but you would think they would not address you as “you guys” and say our order was "easy peasy". servers should reflect the "refined dining" status. we ordered the-haddock dinner which was good and the cheapest item on menu.

Well, Thanksgiving eve, I wanted to take my sister who was visiting somewhere pretty upscale and someplace I've always wanted to dine at. We got dressed up and headed here because we were salivating at the steaks from Google photos! When we arrived we were seated promptly, no reservation needed and we greeted shortly after by our waitress. She wasn't friendly, but she also wasn't off putting. Just eh... we looked at the menu and was excited by the choices. I ordered a cranberry vanilla martini and my sis ordered a Shirley Temple. We then ordered their steamers weekly special and then our steaks- ribeye w/ black truffle butter and strip w/ garlic butter and whipped potatoes as our side. A Caesar for my sis and the seasonal zucchini veggies as our additional sides. Honestly, the steak wasn't cooked to my sister's liking and overall we were less than satisfied with our meal. Don't get me wrong- my ribeye was huge, but for a pretty fine estsblishment- we loved the ambiance, we were deeply disappointed by our meal. Price wasn't worth it, best part our meal was the creme brulee and my sister loved her salad..Will we go back again....eh to be determined.

We were traveling through and saw the sign for Sunday brunch so decided to stop. We didn't ask the price ahead of time. Some of the brunch food was real good, others just average or below. Got the check and it was $38.99 per person! Sorry, but it was definitely not worth that price. The staff was very kind and attentive, the owners even stopped by the table, but this was way too expensive imo. They didn't even include non-alcoholic drinks. Not sure what their regular menu is like, but the brunch is over priced.

Or waitress was very good and very understanding. Food on the other hand... Not so much. My wife ordered a cheese burger, rare. Came back the first time well done. Second time medium. Took about 50 minutes to get our food! Probably won't be back!

We went for the Thanksgiving buffet and were very disappointed. We had been for dinner on another occasion and were so pleased, we couldn't wait to go back. Unfortunately it was not good. We had to wait in a long line for the food and it was tasty but barely warm. I think if you are charging $50 a plate it should be hot and at that price we were surprised that the salad station had bagged lettuce. The rolls were also served cold. We were VERY impressed with the staff and we will go back again when we can order from the regular menu.

honestly, i was unimpressed. came for the brunch buffet, and the food was below par. the homefries were so burnt, they were pretty much inedible. the waffle was okay, and the best thing there was the cheesecake cubes… which weren’t even made by them. the green tea was from walmart. please, do yourself a favor and skip this place if in the area.

My girlfriend and I took my 80-year-old mother out for dinner at the Fireside by the River this Saturday evening to celebrate Mother's Day a day early. My girlfriend and I both ordered the special that night, which was Prime Rib King Cut, and my mother ordered the Crab Stuffed Haddock. The vegetable choice that night for the entrees was grilled asparagus, and my girlfriend doesn't care for asparagus, so she got the brussel sprouts instead. The brussel sprouts arrived a little after our Prime Rib entree was brought to our table and was on a small cast iron skillet smothered in bacon. It looked really good, but the brussel sprouts were very tough. She didn't eat the undercooked brussel sprouts, and when the owner (Brian Holmes) came by to check on how everything was, my girlfriend told him she didn't like the Brussel Sprouts because they were undercooked. Instead of saying I'm sorry you didn't like them, he said how much he loves their brussel sprouts and was surprised she didn't like them, as if he was offended. He then told her she could "take them home and cook it." That is absolutely rude, and it put a damper on the rest of our evening. He came around the table and stuck a fork in her brussel sprouts, as if he needed to verify she wasn't making it up. Then he comes by our table one last time to tell us he told the cook about the brussel sprouts and almost got his head taken off. I found the owner (Brian Holmes) to be very unprofessional tonight. I am one of the most easy-going people when I go out to eat. I'm not the type to jump on the internet and leave a bad review, but tonight I am, because I certainly didn't appreciate how we were talked to. I have no complaints about the service, and I thought the food was good sans the tough brussel sprouts. My biggest problem was how we were talked to by the owner. At the time we were talked to like that, I thought maybe the guy was just the restaurants manager, but when I asked the server who he was, she told me he was Brian Holmes and the owner of the place, which just made how we were talked to all the more egregious. The face of the Fireside told us to take our Brussel Sprouts home and cook them. None of us have ever been talked to in that manner and tone of voice at any of the other fine dining restaurants in our area, and we go out to eat a lot. It's safe to say, we won't be coming back. I can go to a chain restaurant and get treated better than that. -Aaron

Sitting here for 1.5 hrs and still no dinner...not acceptable! Low score is solely on the ability to fulfill orders. After requesting our soup/salad (only part of the group had ordered a side), we finally received that (miscommunication with server). The french onion soup was delicious, and I would order that again without hesitation. The side salads were fresh, and portion size was perfect. That's where it ended. After waiting now for 1hr 45 minutes we left. The owner was VERY apologetic. If communication was better, we might have sticked it out. The "were running a little behind" was not sufficient - tell it as it is. There were 2 large parties ahead of us, but in my opinion, don't take reservations if you can't staff sufficiently and fulfill orders.

Sorry to say but it was terrible. I could not eat the meal - roasted chicken which was “wet” and disgusting sauerkraut mashed potatoes that sat so long it was all starch. I would have sent it back but no one checked on us at all - we waited an hour and 15 minutes for our food and no one came to refill our water. The place is nice - newly redone but the food and service were terrible.

I used door dash an am 100% certain I ordered a medium-well sirloin stead. Double checked and I hate well done steaks. It was horrible. Love loaded potatoes, but this on was inedible. At least the corn bread was good. I'm not asking for any correction of refund. but please cook you steaks as ordered and consider serving real loaded potatoes that are edible. I recognize your other foods might be better based of the other reviews. Since it was a special day and I was trying to celebrate, I'm beyond disappointed. I'll get over it and I have no doubt your establishment is conscience. I just wish I could have eaten more of it because I'm still hungry. No hard feelings! Since it was delivered, the other two options aren't not relevant.

Cheap silverware, way under staffed Not doing the things that make it cost 30-50 bucks more a plate that they should be doing…… Never given the specials menu until 30 minutes after being seating….. For 250 bucks for 3 people it should’ve been much better…. Crab stuffed haddock meal has a piece of haddock about 8 oz……. Prime rib was good but the sauce all over it was terrible and never was made aware it comes with a sauce with a gravy consistency on it…. If you wanna charge those prices you should atleast have matching sets of silverware that aren’t from the dollar store because that’s where they are from, bought the same ones for camp

Very disappointing experience. Waited over an hour and a half for our food and thought it would be worth the wait. The scallops were served on a plate with corn that looked like dog vomit. Scallops were cold and flavorless with an icky texture. When the manager came over to check on us I told him I did not like the scallops at all. He argued with me that they should be hot. I also said I thought the scallops seemed undercooked. He explained that is how he liked them cooked. The interaction with him left me feeling very upset and unheard. He offered us a dessert but we just wanted to leave after he soured the dining experience. They did take the meal off the bill after some back and forth and threw in a bottle of wine. However, I would still not waste my money going back. Everything on the menu was extremely overpriced for the quality of food.
