Ordered a couple days before the Super Bowl for pickup. Order was ready on time. Food was great and we enjoyed all of the tapas we got!
Filet is excellent, and loved the mushrooms that came with. Antipasto, the jamón and queso manchego are fantastic. Love this place…. Never had a bad plate here. Pállela and tacos de fideo…. Mmmm good.
I had a wonderful experience at Romesco's. The atmosphere reminded me of a time I had at a little restaurant in Paris. The lighting was of an amber hue, the table setting was clean with nice linen napkins. The waiter was friendly and engaging as well as prompt. The star of the show was the food! I shared with a friend the meatballs, queso and tacos. I could drink the meatball sauce- it was that incredibly delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant!
It was delicious! perfect! soooo good!!!! been looking for a restaurant this good for so long! new fave spot. the short ribs on point!!!!
I did not dine in the restaurant, but I did order take out. It was on time, still hot when I arrived home, and was delicious.
Wife and I regularly go here for some excellent selections of tapas and always the Caesars salad. Great Happy Hour prices and the tasty food never disappoints. Gil always provides excellent service at the bar and we regularly meet very nice people also enjoying the food and drinks at the bar. House guacamole is fresh and I enjoy the cazuelita de costilla de res and always the cazuelita de gambas. Hector also provides great and friendly service at the bar. We enjoy the Paoloni Sangiovese Grosso with our tapas...
We stopped in for some tapas and wine. Atmosphere is very up beat and lifting due to the variety of music, the food was delicious in my humble opinion, and the service was very nice and fast for the amount of people at the restaurant. I recommend this place for a happy, fun and delightful quick bites. Wine was a big glass of Pinot Grigio and the Creme Brulee cracked nicely! Buen Provecho! Food: Pulpo, Lamb pops, Beef cheek and French bread. Dessert: Creme Brulee
We had our one year Anniversary celebration yesterday at Romesco. From the reservation process with Ivette to the end of the night was just amazing. When we arrived everything was ready and just beautiful. Service by Gsutavo our waiter was Tremendous!!! He was so attentive and friendly. Sangria and all of the food that we ordered was delicious. Highly recommended 💜🤍
This place never dissapoints and the service is always on point. This evening I ordered a tamarindo martini and the short rib risotto, which was delicious. Some other dishes my party ordered were fried calamari, tacos gobernador and the arrachera and everyone enjoyed their meal and we finished the night with churros.
It was incredible! We had tomato soup, lamb, Alfredo and dessert. Dessert (caramel crepe and tiramisu) was not that great but everything we ordered was delicious! If you like Clamato try the one here! I’ve had so many in Mexico City but this it was the best I’ve had! We ordered without alcohol. The waiter was very kind and responsive. The ambiance is a bit dark, very beautiful and decorated so well! My husband comes here a lot with his dad and was happy to finally make it!
Took one of my best friends to dinner here for her birthday unfortunately she is allergic to shrimp so she was unable to have the paella. Her bf is vegetarian, he had salmon w/ veggies, I had paella, brought it home lasted me til next day. We actually forgot to take any pictures !!!!
It was great . Ordered on line and food was ready at the time we requested. We had dined in before and ambiance was nice and the food was good but portions were surprisingly small ( Albondigas ). They looked big in the picture. I would rather have 2 BIG meatballs than be staring at 4 tiny little ones.
The good: The lamb was on points The creamy mass potatoes under the lamb was on point. I don't know the exact name but they had these potato, cheese, bacon, breadcrumb balls that are so delicious with the dipping sauce. The bad: We actually sat outside and I felt a little neglected by the time we left My water had not been refilled so I was actually a little parched. The Ugly: When it's busy in here, it is extremely hard to get from outside to the bathroom. I felt like I was going to run into someone's table. Overall: The food was so delicious.I am more than likely going to come back but I am not going to come back during peak hours.
My friend and I came here to celebrate our birthdays together on a Saturday night. Definitely recommend making a reservation especially on the weekend as the place fills up fast. Plenty of parking available in the lot. The restaurant itself is very cute and cozy. There's both inside and outside seating available. The service was great and efficient. The menu has a wide variety of options to choose from and lots of different wines and cocktails available. The food was pretty good. It's worth a try if you're in the area! Food and drink review: Complimentary bread (always a plus)! Pinot Grigio: Very smooth and tasty. Caesar salad: (3/5) I was expecting it to be amazing here but it was very simple and not worth the hype. The fresh black pepper did help with the taste. Beef filet mignon carpaccio: (3.5/5) This was an interesting dish. The fried capers on top were definitely an interesting touch. Very small serving for the price. Wouldn't order again. Calamari fritti: (4/5) This was pretty good! Nothing spectacular. It was cooked well and had good texture. Bolognese Penne dish: (4/5) This was huge! It was very flavorful. Came with delicious melted cheese on top and I topped with chili flakes for an extra kick. You can definitely share this with the table. Lasagna: (4/5) It was pretty good but it was missing something. I wouldn’t order again.
Food was really good. Had the shrimp Alfredo with a side of caesar salad which was very good. The tamarindo margarita hit the spot. It was a bit crowded and loud which I didn't really like, we were sat in the back in a small table with hardly any room. But other than that, the food was great, the server was nice and I would go back. Made a reservation and was quickly seated, so I liked I could do that in advance.
My suggestion is that you stick to the Mexican tapas dishes on the menu, as the entrées and pastas here have consistently disappointed me -- for example, the "Spaghetti Martha" is a pasta dish smothered in a tomato sauce that is so sweet that it tastes like ketchup. The "Asado de Arrachera" is made of a cheap cut of skirt steak and is tough to chew, a legitimate problem when you're paying $30 for a steak. When I've treated Romesco more like a tapas bar than a regular restaurant, I've been delighted. The late, great Jonathan Gold once described this restaurant's "Bone Marrow Sopes" as "maybe the single greatest antojito I have ever had the pleasure of tasting." I emphatically agree. Plascencia is no longer associated with this restaurant, but the kitchen has not changed this dish, perhaps his Mona Lisa. The sopes themselves are crunchy but tender little discs of masa harina, sturdy enough to stand up to rich, buttery bone marrow. Just writing about the beef sauce in this dish makes me want to head to Romesco as soon as I'm done with this review: it is a thick, viscous reduction of beef juices, almost syrup-y in consistency, heavily concentrated and flavorful like a French demi-glace au boeuf. A spirited red sauce provided on the side helps the dish achieve an acetic and semi-sweet balance against the intense savory flavors, in addition to being filled with fire. The sapid essence of these sauces will linger in your mouth long after you taste them. The "Huitlacoche Quesadillas," filled with parasitical black mold scraped off of corn (aka "corn smut"), are also a hit. Here, this is a fried quesadilla made of masa, thus resembling an empanada more than the quesadillas typically served in this region. The earthy, homey flavor of this snack is sublime, and is well complemented by the zesty salsa verde served on the side. If you're still trying to decide between pasta and Mexican food, you can have both in one bite with Romesco's "Tacos Fideo," which features a spaghetti in a spicy red sauce in tiny corn tortilla tacos. The spaghetti is crisped on the edges, some ends clearly burnt, and so too did the tortilla shells blister and over-char a bit. That said, the "burnt" aspect of this taco contributes a more "homemade" flavor to the food. I've always found it fascinating that restaurants can sometimes get away with serving burnt food, because it takes us back to a place and time in our lives when our parents made imperfect meals, but served them to us with their love. Our minds can thus sometimes trick us into associating love with poorly-prepared food. That said, my rational mind can't get on-board with paying $8 for two tiny tacos made with burnt spaghetti but, if I were to ignore their price, I don't hate these. The "Tacos Gobernador" are similar to the fideo tacos, served in blistered and burnt corn tortillas, but these are not anywhere close to as charming. The shrimp have been chopped up and mixed with onions and cheese and is served with the house's salsa verde, which I don't believe to be the right sauce for these tacos, as there's no piquancy to it. This puzzles me. This is a Sinaloan taco; Give me some heat, man! Also, why would they chop the shrimp as they do? I know, of course - because they couldn't fit more than one normal sized shrimp in these tiny shells or it would have looked absurd. Overall, I continue to dine at Romesco, but mostly for the excellent bone marrow sopes and huitlacoche tapas dishes I mentioned above. The rest of the menu, the spotty service, and the fairly long drive to get here from the city (be careful, there is sometimes a DUI checkpoint on Bonita Road on the weekends), make it difficult for Romesco to be a place I visit more than once every year or two. Just barely 4 stars.
Everything was perfect till it wasn't. Larger birthday party went off without a problem and bill paid. A hand full of us stayed for music and cocktails. They kept the large party charge on the bill. Very disappointing
I drove 3.5 hours to try the TJ Caesar salad after seeing it on TV. They brought me a regular Caesar salad and told me since I was dining by myself they will not make it the table side TJ version. So I’m punished for being alone. I really wanted to enjoy this experience. If I were Keith Lee, I’d give the food an 8/10 and customer service a 2/10. I wanted the Romesco experience along with the food.
Food is ok. Staff is not overly friendly, but welcoming. Service was slow, price for brunch was $27.. I think the brunch is overpriced. Some of the food was fresh and tasty, others were stale and flavorless..I wont be going back any time soon . The best item was the smoked fish . The worst was the dry chilaquiles and the scrambled eggs that were almost crunchy on the edges.
I know, how can I rate it two stars if I say that service, atmosphere, and food were all five stars? Here's the thing: we went here for a date night and it was the perfect environment. The service was friendly and wonderful. The food was absolutely delicious. The problem is that shortly after sitting down they brought us some bread, as is traditional in similar restaurants. When we received the bill, it turned out we were charged for the bread. There was no mention that the bread was not free, we did not request the bread, and it's usually free when placed on your table like that. So, we've decided never to return, as this is a horribly unethical policy, to say the least. You cannot charge people for food they did not order and were not informed came at a cost.
Date night on Valentines at Romesco. I was hoping to have had a great experience. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I am very big on great service makes for a big portion of your restaurant experience. Food can be good, but if the service is great, this makes it for a positive experience. If the food is great and the service is just as great, this makes it for an outstanding experience and worth recommending. On this occasion, this unfortunately was not the case. From the beginning, our server Carlos, was not attentive or seemed not to be very interested in us being there. Our table was wobbly, I asked him if he could please fix it. I had to ask him 3 times and even had to ask the hostess before he finally came by to fix it. The annoying thing is that the restaurant is not big and he kept passing by our table simply ignoring us. That was strike one. Second, this night was a preset menu, I ordered the fillet mignon, he didn’t bother to ask how I wanted my stake. Once we got our food, my dinner was salty and my stake practically well done. From that point on, he never bothered to come back and check on us, while passing by our table multiple times and not even looking our way. Again, this is a small restaurant, so there is no way to miss us. It appeared to us that he was just delegating to others and not making sure anything was done. He seemed more interested on what was going on with other tables then his tables. Finally, we asked him for 2 glasses with water, he asked someone else to get it, but after passing by our table multiple times again, he didn’t bother to look at our table to see if we had gotten our glasses with water or even getting it himself. Finally, another server noticed us and we asked him for water. The only time he actually spent a little effort was when we asked for the check. It was even more annoying when he checked how much I tipped. I’ve been to Romesco’s before and have had a nice experience. This is why I had decided to have Valentines date night here, but after this experience I have to reconsider my future restaurant choice or even recommend it. Again, in my opinion, service is what makes or breaks a restaurant’s experience and tonight was a big fail. Sorry Romesco!
Food is good, not great. if you make a reservation, do not expect it to be honored. It seems that this is more of a “who you know to be seated” rather than honoring the reservation process. We had a reservation 11/21 at 7:30 and when we arrived place was packed. Several people came in behind us and were seated without even checking in. We were told that we could sit at the bar and when we declined that because we had a reservation. There were four of us and I didn’t reserve seats at the bar. When we were told that it would take “10 minutes“ which may have been a very poor guess because from my observation, nobody appeared to be leaving anytime soon and it takes at least 10 minutes to clear and set the table for the next setting. Third time here and not impressed enough to come back for a fourth time, especially after the reservation process is so poorly done.
Made reservations and still had to wait even though the restaurant was practically empty. Waiter seemed disgruntled and discontent with being there. Food was mediocre. This was second time I dined here. I thought it would be a little better than the first one. Took parents along for the experience - they were not pleased with it. Said they would not be coming back
