Friendly servers and great food. We had 2 orders of their clam sauce. Excellent!!! Eggplant Parmesan was also over the top. We will be back for sure!!!

Amazing Italian food! Meals include soup or salad which is unusual these days and really nice. Therefore, I think you can’t complain about the prices, although I don’t like the extra sur charge restaurants are sneaking in these days instead of raising their prices. Excellent service. Reasonably priced and good house wine. Minestrone soup and the house salad were very yummy. As was the lasagna and the fettuccine alfredo. The garlic bread was too good. Large portions. A great new find for Italian!

When traveling do you seek local flavor? If you want to eat where the locals eat at a place that cares more about the food and rich experience than trying to impress with over the top decor - look no further. I saw the blue awning and I hesitated. But so glad we went. The garlic bread came out steaming hot and delicious. The right amount of butter and garlic to set the meal in motion. Everything we ordered was terrific and watching the calzones, the pizzas and assorted pasta dishes flow out was mesmerizing. Hard to figure out what to order because they have everything you crave Italian and lots of seafood options to satisfy. Everyone from the couple of hostesses who were both wonderful and our waitress were a delight. We loved our food and could see everyone else felt the same around us at the restaurant. I wasn’t surprised to see a good sized line forming at the 7pm hour as a nice crowd was forming. Thankfully we ate early which is what I would recommend.

Located just around the corner from the ocean, this spot offers a casual Italian experience with a beach vibe. It's known for its solid, high-quality food, generous portions, and reasonable prices. The great service, especially from exceptional staff like Brandy, makes for a memorable dining experience. As for parking, a small, limited free lot is available. Otherwise, you can use the valet service or look for street parking nearby.

Jay's Gourmet is an absolute gem! We ordered the Fresh Swordfish w Shrimp + artichoke in limonecaper sauce special written on the chalkboard, and it was phenomenal. The buttery angel hair pasta soaked up all the delicious tangy flavors perfectly. This dish was a true standout. It came with their outstanding minestrone soup, which was clearly made in-house from scratch. The fresh vegetables had the perfect slight bite that only fresh, high-quality ingredients can provide. My husband had the spaghetti with sausage, and it didn't disappoint! The homemade sausage was exceptional, with the fennel flavor being present but perfectly balanced--not overpowering at all. Even the starter bread was a delight--fresh and clearly made from scratch in-house. A special shoutout to Brandy, who was outstanding! She was kind, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect for us. The only downside was that they no longer offer discounts for Carlsbad Inn guests like they did in the past, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, the quality of the food and service at Jay's Gourmet makes it a must-visit. We'll continue to be back!

Food and service were outstanding! No disappointments. The gourmet seafood offerings argued slightly with the trappings, which was more aligned with that of a pizza joint. But you can't eat ambience, right? Party of 3, a shared appetizer, upgraded salads, entrees, drinks, tax and tip = $200. Recommended.

Not a bad place well located at the corner of Carlsbad Village Drive in N. Coast Highway aka Carlsbad Boulevard. It’s a casual place you can sit inside or outside Some people have been coming here for many years with the favorite hangout for locals as well as folks from San Diego. The Caesar salad comes with the spaghetti and meatball is really good.

Taste of is excellent. Fresh seafood, new flavours. A little bit upsetting updates. If you paying with credit card you will be charged extra?! It’s super weird and upsetting. There is no notes in the bill when you getting it from your waiter, you just finding it out after they swiped your card. Note for business:at least you can tell your customers about that or make a note on bill or door. And second one we ordered from kids menu sausage and spaghetti. It’s very delicious but too spicy for kids (like hot spicy)

I really enjoyed the food at Jay's Gourmet, it's been my favorite for couple of years since moved to San Diego. The restaurant is in a traditional local place in the middle of the tourist bound area in Carlsbad. Not fancy or trendy either but good Italian food, but pricey. The food has been consistent through time, also serving beer and wine. I eat other dishes but my favorite is the Seafood pizza. The breadsticks are delicious especially dipped in extra warm marinara sauce. The service is cold and mechanical, it's busy and loud, impossible to have a conversation during dinner time. The space between tables is a bit tight. It's better to go early or order they don't deliver, as far as I know, so you pick up. The parking is limited and restrooms are outside.

I was excited to revisit Jays as I am from out of town but have been going there for 25 years . But it has been going down hill the last few years. It started with seat yourself,a dirty plastic cup with no ice for my water,then she brought out some hard cold bread,I was thinking I don’t remember their bread being this way. Server was more interested in another table maybe friend or something,there was only 4 tables working besides mine and she couldn’t even check to see if I needed anything. The spaghetti was served to me like warm,the replacement bread was not up to par either. I was going to order a $35 pizza to keep at the condo but after being so disappointed by quality of food I just paid my bill and left,there was no thank you,have a good evening nothing. I don’t believe I will be coming back anymore,I think that their days are numbered and have already had their good run but has lost its flare. He place was dirty and bathrooms too,that is never a good sign of what the kitchen looks like. Sorry but this place is old and tired.

The food has definitely gone downhill. It used to be full of flavor and deliciousness and for some reason, the flavor lacked dramatically. My family has been coming here since the 1980’s and this is the first time it was completely without flavor. I don’t know if they got new cooks or something but we were highly disappointed. We usually crave this place while visiting but something changed within the last year. We’re hesitant to come here again in the future.
