Absolutely wonderful experience at Somerset. The food was outstanding from start to finish. The peri peri chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked, full of flavor without being overwhelming, and the whole pan-seared branzino was fresh, delicate, and beautifully prepared. What really elevated the evening was our server, Irina. She was incredibly kind, attentive, and professional, making us feel genuinely welcome and well taken care of throughout the meal. Great atmosphere, excellent food, and lovely service — Somerset is a place we’ll happily return to and recommend.

The servers were so nice and helpful! Our server, Jose was so polite and even took something off the bill when he forgot it even though he did bring it. The decor was nice and food was good. Jose gave us many recommendations as well. It was a good experience.

Excellent and superb food and service. The food and beverage manager Paul provided great selections. The server Cristal is great and Jose attended to our needs as well. Awesome atmosphere and delicious food.

Osasu the manager today was lovely and attentive to me without my asking. She went above and beyond and made my experience great! The food was good… the key lime cheesecake was not great bc the cheesecake itself didn’t have much lime but the rest of this dessert was good! The ice cream, the coconut crumble, the whipped meringue… all yummy! The cous cous salad was very fresh and dressing homemade and good (I liked it on the side bc it’s full of flavor and vinegar) and the duck pasta dish was flavorful. Ambience beautiful… lots of party events can take place here on 2 floors, nice outdoor seating, lovely bathrooms.

Okay, I found this restaurant accidentally, but boy, was I in for a surprise. Chicago never seems to disappoint me when I'm desiring delicious food. We walked into a very elegant atmosphere. The tables were dimly lit with gold candles and beautiful chandeliers, which set the tone for our evening. The waiter was very knowledgeable and professional. He executed his job beautifully. I thought I had the best calamari prior to this, but NOTHING, I mean nothing I tasted compared to theirs. Crispy, flavorful, they just melted in my mouth, and that white sauce complimented the calamari so beautifully. DO NOT leave before trying the branzino, which is a white fish! The sauce that it was paired with made my taste buds sing. And the desserts were also superb.👌🏾 If you desire good food and excellent service, try Somerset!!

The atmosphere was very quaint and vibrant. It’s a very open space and the color scheme is very well suited. The food was delicious, starting with the Buratta salad as it’s a very summery dish paired alike with some soft and warm home made ciabatta bread. The calamari was crispy and the sauces were made just right. I had the salmon which was soft and rich in flavor. Overall a great experience and the service was excellent too.

Upscale bar and restaurant vibes. I did not eat, but my friend did and stated that the food was really good. She had chicken and waffles. I had the signature somerset mimosa. It was yummy. 😋 The bartender was courteous to check in occasionally at just the right moments, which were appreciated.

Wonderful breakfast place with a few different vegetarian options. I loved the Avocado Toast. The breakfast potatoes are the absolute best and should not be missed. The service is quick and this restaurant is in a quiet area. Would hope to come back again soon.

I stayed at the Viceroy and had the pleasure of eating at Somerset two different times for breakfast and dinner. The food is delicious and comes out very quickly. The staff are very friendly and attentive. This is by far one of the best hotel restaurants I have ever been too. I would recommend eating here even if you are not staying at the hotel. It was all around five stars.

Fantastic brunch away from the crowds. I had the burger and it was absolutely perfect for the morning after a night on the town. The Bloody Mary and coffee were amazing. Plus that cinnamon roll!!! A friend had the chicken and waffles which she raves about. Plus the outdoor seating was amazing! The waitstaff were engaging and polite (definitely no robots there)! The inside decor is a little Art Deco with a contemporary vibe. This place will not disappoint.

We came out for restaurant week and a little birthday celebration and our expectations were definitely exceeded. I recommend the herb crusted salmon, it was to die for, to say the least. The desserts were incredible. Our server, Alex was super kind and attentive. The bartender, Chase is amazing. Overall, a great experience with great staff who go above and beyond.

Food was very good. We ate here several times on our recent stay. We had appetizers, brunch and dinner. All were delicious! Special shout out to the wonderful bartender Susie. She was fantastic!

Came here for restaurant week and it was too good. The flavors and textures of each meal always left you wanting more which is hard to achieve during restaurant week I feel. Regardless, definitely a place to come and visit with friends or a casual date. You won't be disappointed!

🦋Attached to the Viceroy Chicago hotel, this restaurant has a large patio and beautiful décor that seamlessly flows between the restaurant and hotel. Designed with stunning gold finishes, the atmosphere shares elegance and pizazz all in one. We sat in a round booth which made us feel happy and comfortable…and a little boujee 👸🏿🤴🏽. Our waiter was quick to greet us and share the drink and food selections with us. We each got a light beer. I got a chilled pea soup which was amazing…if you’re into chilled soups. I love pea soup but never knew that I didn’t like chilled soups. Nevertheless, it was really good and they even poured the soup into the bowl right in front of us 🤩🤩. We decided to share the air fried chicken. It was really good. Super moist chicken breast that was not greasy at all (thanks to the air fry). The veggies that went with it were perfectly cooked and seasoned making the complimentary side a perfect addition to the delicious chicken. We want to thank everyone at Somerset for providing the service and taste we definitely admired. This is our experience. What’s yours? 🦋

After a long day of flying, my group of 6 walked down to Somerset for a late dinner. We had reservations and we're seated quickly near the back of the restaurant which had a great view of their impressive bar. The atmosphere was great, and our server was super friendly and good natured, even as we ordered a round of Malort. I had the steak, which was perfectly cooked and in an absolute killer sauce. A friend got the ravioli which was also delightful, not too heavy even with the rich sauce. For me however, the highlight of the meal was the dessert which we a chocolate mousse with a delicious cappuccino crumble and a sticky toffee banana pudding. While the portions weren't huge, it did allow for everyone to feel free to try everything - kind of like you would at tapas- and between that and our very good drinks, we had a great time.

Food and Staff here are exquisite. PreFix lunch menu had the perfect range of options. I went with the Caesar salad, steak frites and cheese cake. Perfect portion sizing that provided enough to thoroughly enjoy each dish but not too much where you get stuffed.

Great Bloody Mary's! Fun brunch spot with a sort of "Great Gatsby" feel to the interior. The breakfast burrito with the short rub was insanely good (make sure to ask for the avocado smash on the side with it). Friendly service with good recommendations, we had a great time.

Everything was excellent- food, service, and atmosphere! I had the sea bass and it was great.

First, this place is so incredibly beautiful! The gold and blue decor looks so vintage yet modern at the same time. The food was also really amazing. I ordered French toast and it did not disappoint! And finally, the service was top tier. I can’t remember our waiter name but he made to sure to take care of us and we were even gifted a dessert since we were celebrating my cousin’s upcoming wedding. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Terrific Brunch. Have also been to dinner 3 times. Food is consistently excellent. Servers are slightly above average but sometimes difficult to find. Atmosphere is very hip, love the way the space was designed aesthetically. Biggest complaint is the noise level, almost too loud to have a conversation with your fellow guests. During the summer not as much of a problem if you sit outside on their patio, it makes it a pleasant people watching experience.

A perfect place for brunch with friends on a lazy weekend. Somerset is a spacious, 2 storey restaurant with comfortable seating. We ordered the Bruschetta and Mozzarella, spinach and goat cheese omelette, French toast and short rib Shakshouka. The Shakshouka and french toast were instant hits. We really liked everything we ordered. The French toast is served with mascorpone ice cream and fig jam, and is very filling. The Shakshouka was delicious too. We loved everything we ordered. They also serve lattes which weren't on the menu but you can ask your server.

I tried their short rib shakshuka and it taste really good. Beef so tender and flavorful. croissant taste good too. For the sandwhich my honest opinion just so-so. Service is excellent and a nice ambiance.

Service was really attentive and friendly! Side dishes and salad were so yummy, tagliatelle was amazing but a bit of too oily. Overall we love this place!

Anniversary dinner with the Mediterranean menu, lamb shank, carrots, beets, and octopus preparations stand out. And the dessert with chocolate noting happy anniversary made super special. We'll be back!

Went for the RW 19. I really like the bread they serve! And the hamachi crudo is pretty good. The hanger steak and the caviatelli are salty, have to drink a lot of water. And the budino is okay. Updates: Not until I had boka did I realiza how good somerset performed! The portion size is generous and the plates are extraordinary.

Great food and ambience. Fantastic detail to each dish, and service is excellent. Great open space and delicious variations on common brunch dishes. The honey sriracha fried chicken is highly recommended!

Delicious food, terrific service and lovely ambience make Somerset a top spot for quality dinner outing. The chef's speciality is Chicken so don't miss out on those chicken dishes. Half dozen Oysters are a perfect start to work up that appetite. Duck Fettuccine is a signature entree to titillate your taste buds. Portions are small so I'd recommend getting a side with your entree for a full meal if you are skipping appetizers.

We had such a great time at Somerset. We tried the mushroom flatbread, lamb meatballs, tuna tartare, and the sides of carrots, Brussels sprouts, and wild mushrooms. Everything was really good but the flatbread and the wild mushrooms stood out the most. The carrots had a strong spice that wasn’t totally our favorite, but still tasty. The service was super friendly and the whole experience was really enjoyable. Definitely recommend!

I had such a wonderful experience at Somerset. Our server was absolutely amazing friendly, attentive, and just has this calm, welcoming energy that makes you feel completely at ease. He’s truly one of a kind and made the whole evening that much better. The food was outstanding. Their seasonal rotating menu is always so creative; you can really tell they put thought into every dish. I love how they incorporate different flavors from national cuisines while still keeping everything fresh and approachable. The whole staff was warm and professional, and the atmosphere felt upscale without being pretentious. From start to finish, it just felt like being taken care of by people who genuinely love what they do. Definitely recommend asking for Jose when you go, he’ll make your night!

Visited here with my 2 boys during a Fall Break trip to Chicago. We were earlybirds, about 5 pm, so the restaurant was fairly empty (a welcome sight for a mom dining with children!) The service stood out to me the most, our server was wonderful and she even surprised my boys with a Viceroy stuffed animal, such a sweet memory of our trip. Will stop back by next time we are in town!

First, let me begin by apologizing for taking a long time to write this review. I held my engagement dinner at Somerset and it could not have been a better experience. The food, the environment, the service all were top notch. Planning this surprise dinner was an easy experience and I had Dulce (Catering Sales Manager) to thank for this. Her prompt communication and accommodation made this possible. I also have Randy (Director of Banquets) to thank for a lot of the help. The night was magical thanks to their team. I can’t recommend the Somerset and Viceroy hotel more for your special occasion. It was a night my fiancé and I won’t forget.

Neglected to give accolades to Somerset back at the beginning of the year, but we had a great time and meal on NY day. Great brunch meal with drinks and friendly service. Nice way to start the year.

Such a cute place to eat! I love the setting. You have indoor, outdoor and indooroutdoor options for seating and the bar area is really nice. I sat outside and enjoyed myself. It's right off the street, so it's not quiet but it didn't bother me much. The food was ok. French toast (I deconstructed mine) moist and the breakfast potatoes were cooked well. I added onions and bell peppers to mine. The syrup had an odd flavor that I couldn't quite put my finger on. I ordered a white mocha and the server brought me a regular mocha. Only after I asked of it was what I ordered did he say that don't have white mocha. Wish he would've said that from jump.

We had a birthday event at this place! I love the atmosphere, decoration, and vibe! The food was tasty, good quality, and presentation! I really like the crispy Bronzino! The steak was also tender and good. The burger was properly cooked and well seasoned. However, the service was not optimal. The servers were nice, however, it took a long time to get our order and to get their attention for follow-up orders. Drinks also took a long time to be brought to the table. It’s a nice place for birthdays and events. I would come back, but I will stress on the service and attention level.

We were really excited to try this restaurant. I loved the decor and atmosphere. The food fell a bit short for me though. As odd as it sounds, the French toast was very, very sweet; I couldn't even use syrup with it. The overall taste of the French toast was good, the berries were a lovely addition as was the marscapone cheese. We also got a sandwich which was pretty good. I would likely go back, but I'd try something else.

The atmosphere is like something out of a magazine! It's beautiful to say the least. However, it wasn't what I expected. The breakfast potatoes wasn't good at all. There wasn't enough options for me. It's convenient if you're staying nearby or at The Viceroy. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit. Being expensive is expected. I like the convenience of being able to add the bill to your room. The manager forgot to bring us condiments after asking us if we needed anything. After waiting patiently we asked our waitress and she forgot too. They weren't busy so, i'm not sure what happened. Finally I asked another server and she went to get it for us right away. That's the reason for the 4 star rating. Overall, the environment was amazing, the food and service was okay. If you went later in the day, after dark, I believe the vibe may have been different. That might be the move for next time.

My family and I went there around 11am on a Friday. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. The server was friendly but not very knowledgeable. The vegetables and greens tasted fresh but some dishes lacked flavor. The Caesar salad was presented as maybe half a romaine with leaves in tact which means you'll have to do your own cutting to provide bite size pieces for your mouth. The fries were seasoned with a barbecue dust that resembles those of Freddie's. I'm not a barbecue fan so I wouldn't order them again. It was nice for a one time meal however nothing really attractive to make me come back to eat. The drinks were delicious however, good place to have brunch drinks with friends before heading out on the town.

Nice atmosphere located right next to the Viceroy hotel in downtown Chicago. We went for a light, late night dinner and food was delicious. We ordered the bread and butter board which was amazing. French onion soup, shrimp cocktail and salmon. The salmon was good not great but the appetizers and soup were very good!

I selected this restaurant for brunch with a group of friends. The interior was breathtaking, but since it was a beautiful day, we opted to enjoy our meal on the patio. The drinks from their specials menu perfectly complemented the stunning weather. Each of our entrees was delicious and well-portioned. However, considering the restaurant wasn’t very crowded, the service seemed a bit slow. The biggest disappointment was that we were seated right next to a swarm of bees. So, our meal was a mix of dodging and weaving to avoid the bees. Despite this minor inconvenience, I highly recommend the food. Just be sure to stay off the patio.

A stylish restaurant with modern cuisine and attentive service, where every dinner feels like a small celebration. The dishes are beautiful and delicious, and the atmosphere is elegant and cozy.

We went here for brunch to celebrate birthdays! The host was so sweet and went above beyond for our group. He took so many photos for us lol I wasnt to impressed with the menu, it's pretty basic. However the calamari was really good and the chicken&waffles was 10/10. They brought us a slice of cake of our birthdays, which was really sweet. But I do not think I would be excited to return. The restaurant isn't memorable to me for Chicago.

Overall, I would say nice ambience with good service. However, the food just didn't meet expectations. I'm especially disappointed about the avocado toast because it shouldn't be hard to make it taste better. As mentioned in a lot of other reviews, fine environment, good service, but mediocre food that does not pay off the money we spend. or just lower your expectations before coming here. Somer Set was average overall. I prefer sweeter wines and cocktails, but the Peach Clean and Ciao-Biscus were too tangy for my taste. Despite the waiter's efforts to adjust the Ciao-Biscus, it still wasn't enjoyable, so I opted for apple juice instead. The Açaí and Yogurt parfait appetizer was excellent, offering a great mix of crunch, sweetness, and savory flavors with plenty of granola. However, the Somerset breakfast entrée was disappointing. While the bacon was great, the eggs and potatoes lacked seasoning and were bland. The Brioche French Toast also lacked spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, failing to satisfy my sweet tooth. Given the bill, the food didn’t meet my expectations. The ambiance is quiet and beautiful, and the setting is appealing. The waiter was nice and tried to help, though I didn't catch her name. Despite the pleasant atmosphere, the unseasoned food means I won't be returning. Seasoning is crucial for me.

Considering the location of Somerset, I expected more. We made a brunch reservation and were seated quickly. We were offered the patio and the weather was perfect that day so we couldn’t pass it up. Sadly, the service was horrible (and not just for our table). I noticed that many other tables were as neglected as we were. Once we finally did get to put an order in, it took an hour for food to come out. Mind you, this is brunch service which should involve easier prep. In the end, the quality of service and long wait detracted from the experience. For brunch, I suggest avoiding. By the time we were actually eating, I didn’t think the food was worth it anymore.

Really beautiful place but the food was disappointing and the price outrageous. I was in the area for lunch around 1:30 and looked at their menu outside. A pasta dish caught my eye so I thought I’d try it. I get in and I’m handed the brunch menu; I guess what was outside was the dinner menu. I don’t understand a restaurant that doesn’t offer lunch but ok, at least put the correct menu outside then. Disappointed, I decide to try the avocado toast, I usually like that. $18 is expensive but at this point I just want to eat. At the end I get a beautiful looking toast with BARELY any avocado on it but a lot of roasted carrots. I thought the eggs came with it but apparently that was extra. So once all was said and done, with tax and tip I paid $30 for a piece of disappointing toast and I left hungry. At the very least, please be generous with the avocado. It’s not called Carrot Toast. Don’t think I’d go there again 👎🏻

I've had this place bookmarked for a long time...I've even suggested it to many people traveling through Chicago.... We were very excited to eat brunch here before flying out that afternoon. We arrived for our 8am reservation and were informed that brunch didnt start till 9am..... we didn't know and were disappointed but we figured the breakfast would still be sufficient.... My partner had the somerset breakfast..... plain eggs, protein, toast, and potatoes. And a tea Okay. Cool... simple .... I got the short rib shakshuka. Lack luster and didnt look or taste fresh... the toast wasn't anything special..... The pain au chocolat was 6$ and one of the worst I've ever had. Ugly on the outside, Raw inside. And a weirdly sticky glaze ontop that was so unnecessary and just made our hands sticky. There was no server on the floor, just the hostess, who never came to check on us or make sure we had water or anything. The coffee was really good, La Colombe. Incredibly over priced ($60 ish) for diner level food. Would've happily paid way more than that for the bangin brunch I was expecting/ hoping for.

I would never recommend this place. The service was absolutely awful I had to wait so long for my food that I practically fainted from hunger. The staff seemed completely uninterested and unorganized, and no one bothered to check in or apologize for the delay. By the time the food finally arrived, any enjoyment was long gone. For a place that’s supposed to have a good reputation, this was a total disappointment. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else for breakfast

I went here because I saw it on the "most beautiful restaurants in Chicago" list. The day I went there was a pianist and the vibes were great but sadly I had to leave after repeated food issues. I should've known when my Caesar salad tastes weird that something was going to be bad. I ordered a filter mignon medium and they brought me two well done filets. The second steak was even sliced and more well done than the previous , there was no excuse for it to be served that overcooked. After the second steak I asked for salmon instead thinking that maybe beef wasn't the chef's strength, I attached a photo of my salmon. Really disappointed and each error took an additional 20 minutes of my time. I asked for what remained of my bill after I saw the disgusting salmon. My waitress was kind and apologetic. After the second failed steak she brought a complimentary glass of prosecco but honestly I was just really hungry.

Don’t waste your time or money. I don’t normally post reviews of poor establishments but today is the exception. Absolutely terrible experience - plenty better places to spend your money in the area so avoid at all costs. Food was very poor, waited 35 mins for a meal to appear, only for it to be the wrong order for one of our party. Place was not busy and much of the staff stood propping up the kitchen station talking. No refills, no sign of our server for over 30 mins. Serious attitude problem when pressed on the status of the order and how the mix happened. Told they’d need to make the correct order from scratch. Manager was no better, zero help and made no effort to fix the issue other than adding a smug dismissive tone.

Stayed at the Viceroy, the restaurant’s hotel and it’s a Michelin key hotel so I had high expectations for this restaurant and was excited to try it. Unfortunately the restaurant is very subpar. The entrees are bland. Peri peri chicken was rubbery. Truffle mashed potatoes are from a box. Charred broccolini was burnt to a black crisp to where it crumbled in your hands. Even Applebee’s peels fresh potatoes every morning for their menu items I don’t understand why this restaurant doesn’t. Service was lacking, I had to wave the waitress down for everything and she only had 2 other tables. She never offered to replace the broccolini when we complained, just told us “it comes this way.” When we asked for a replacement I had to flag her down for the new plate of broccolini and it didn’t arrive until after we had ate our dinner entrees. If we weren’t rushing to see the light show at the Chicago Botanic Garden then I would have complained on the spot about our food and the service. We were supposed to eat breakfast there but were too scared to try it after our dinner experience. Wasted $285+
