We didn't have time to dine in so we got our food to go. We got the Pollo Monterrey which is fabulous! We didn't have to wait long at all even with the restaurant being really busy. The staff was very nice and the restaurant itself is very nice inside. I want to go back and try the margaritas! Highly recommend!
Great salsa to start off with, just a tad of heat and loads of flavor. Chimichangas are delicious and cooked to perfection, can’t wait to go back and try some other items on the menu.
Friendly, fresh food, and fast service. This place makes some amazing Tex Mex. The food is always hot and fresh. The portiin size is gigantic, so come with an empty stomach. The service is friendly and efficient. My only complaint is it is rather small and gets loud and crowded, at times. But I would say it is always worth a trip, regardless of that.
Nice restaurant. Good food. We had the Fiesta Plate and fajita enchilada lunch plate. Very good. Chips and salsa were good. Lunch was busy. Service was good and quick.
What a nice little find during our stay. Looking for a good place to eat while at our hotel stay and it was a nice treat! Can't wait to hit this place again. It was delicious all the way around!
We've been coming to Picante for a while now and try to make it at least once a month. The owners used to work at another establishment on the East side of town. One day they disappeared along with all the Great service they used to extend to me. It may have been a year later that we decided to try this place and low and behold there were the people that we had grown fond of in the past. They were now owners! We mainly come to play the "Claw Machine" so I can win rubber duckies for my wife's growing duck army.. Seriously but kidding.. kinda. We order take out and usually it's the "Fajitas Patron" for two people and add some extra tortillas. While we are waiting for our delicious food I play the claw machine. It's a lot of food, chicken, beef, chorizo, carnitas and shrimp, stewed onions and peppers, rice and beans, pico, guac and sour cream, chips and salsa. Easily a couple days worth of chow if eaten in moderation. I have a deal with the wife. She gets all the shrimp if I get all the carnitas. It works, we split the rest and were happy. Our lil dog gets goodies as well. I've been to a few places around this area and no one does carnitas quite the same.. Picante does them the way I like them. They are very good, imo. The service is always Great and if you come enough.. you are remembered. Portions are always pretty large and the place is clean. Prices are in line with what they should be. Easy to get to from the 75. Good parking. Worth checking out!
I think this is going to be a good place. There was a large menu and a bar. The fajitas looked and smelled great. We had the tacos. Three tacos with rice and beans, they were very tasty but every thing was a little dry but still very good. They were served with onions, cilantro, lime and cheese. They could have used a little pico or taco sauce. My wife requested sour cream that helped a little. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My extra large Dos equis draft was very fresh tasting and reasonably priced, it did not have a lime wedge though. I predict that most things will only improve with a few weeks experience and will be a popular business, it is after all new.
The Littles and I stopped in for dinner. We ordered white queso and bean dip to give it a try. The queso had a rich flavor and was delicious. The Littles decided on quesadilla and burrito and they enjoyed them. I went with a combination with two enchiladas and a quesadilla which with the white queso was good.
Parking is crazy...they were so jam packed. Inside has music playing and people filled every booth and table. The smells from outside in were yummy. Ordered the birria tacos with rice and beans. These birria tacos were filled with meat and cheese.. generous amount 😊 but the consomme was flavorless, tbh. Rice was fluffy but needed a little more ajo and cebolla. Staff was so busy but friendly.
We hoped for good food....we kinda got it. Asked for corn tortillas and butter before the meal. I got the corn tortillas but asked for butter three times. The beef fajitas were good but a bit overcooked. My husband's fajitas came out about 10 min prior to getting the set ups and tortillas and my food. My chimichanga was not fried and the meat was bland. There was barely any cheese inside the soggy tortilla. The butter for the corn tortillas arrived after all the food. The staff was nice but stretched too thin.
This restaurant was picked because we couldn't get in the Jalapeño Tree, and I'm sure glad we did. The enchiladas were above average, and the chips and salsa were exquisite. Our waitress Crysta (or Krysta) was on the ball, she was friendly, fast, and efficient. Our drinks and salsa bowls never went dry. Great cantina style atmosphere and bar. Lots of cool things to look at while you wait on your food, and there's a tv on every wall. I definitely recommend this place and will be coming back again. We really liked this place a lot.
I and my family on the way to Oklahoma visited this place in June 2021. The restaurant atmosphere and interior is really nice with even better ambiance. We chose to dine in. Though there were people already dining in, the tables were arranged away from each other in accordance with social distancing. We did not feel unsafe eating inside. We ordered spinach enchiladas for lunch. They were great in taste! Service was great too! Also the restrooms were clean and well stocked. Good place for Mexican food.
Food was pretty good, but the intense smell of chemicals in the air was overwhelming and if It's that intense in the air then it's in the food, and beverages too. Yes, it's great to be clean, but there's other cleaning products that are milder and still get the job done.
This was my first visit, and despite glowing recommendations from several people, I was quite disappointed. The street tacos featured excessively dry meat that even ample salsa couldn't redeem. The chips were overly hard and had to be discarded. The regular tacos lacked flavor, with stale shells and scant toppings—barely any lettuce or cheese. Regrettably, I wasn't impressed and don't plan to return.
We ordered two hard tacos and three street tacos. The hard taco shells were noticeably stale, and the ground meat had virtually no seasoning or flavor. The steak in the street tacos was dryer than a cracker and equally bland—I ended up emptying my entire salsa cup that came with the chips over everything just to add some moisture and taste. The side chips were also inconsistent: a mix of fresh, light-colored ones and old, overly dark ones that tasted stale. This was a disappointing meal all around. I don’t want a refund, i’m not going to call and say anything. It’s simply just another lesson taught to both sides of the party.
Waited 25 minutes at a table and finally stopped a waiter for a drink. Waited another 15 min to place our order. The waiter was brushed we barely got it in before he walked off. Didn’t even get to order an appetizer. 2 of the peoples food came out and another 15 minutes for the 3rd plate. the food came out ice cold. There was maybe 6 other families in the restaurant. They were kind enough to remove 1 plate. This place has gone down hill
So we went in and ordered 3 lunch specials thinking it would be quick and easy. Lunch fajitas and 2 quesadillas. We saw our server one time after placing our order as she was bombarded with a huge table. We were an after thought. It took them 47 minutes to get the food on the table and at that point we had to box it up and leave. The food was cold and mediocre and looked as though it was thrown on the plate. Over priced and slow as molasses. We should have just gone to Taco Bell.
Another disappointing Mexican food restaurant for the Sherman/Denison area. After waiting 45mins to be seated and being passed in line by people coming after us (because they don't take names, just tell you to wait and he will remember you), we were so hungry almost anything would taste good. 15min later chips came, 10 mins after that we finally got our drinks and the most water-downed "queso" I've ever seen. Another 20 mins and our food comes out. Now we are starving but still anticipating good food at this packed place. Unfortunately the Carne Asada was terrible. Good thing I didn't need that flat dr pepper to wash anything down. Even the baby couldn't stomach his food. So so disappointed. I really need to find a good Mexican place out here.
