Lovely ambiance and very attentive staff. We didn't eat but the food ordered by other customers looked wonderful. Cocktails were really nice!
Lovely food as always. Great cocktails too. Food takes a little while to come but is completely worth the wait as it tastes amazing and is cooked perfectly. Staff are super friendly and helpful
That was the best steak I had, in the area. And the waitress was really professional and nice at the same time. This restaurant has a very elegant atmosphere indeed. I will be back soon. Thanks.
First visit to Durham and I must say that this was the best meal I have had in a loonnnggg time! I had the sea bass and my husband had the burger and it was all delicious. Good music, relaxing atmosphere - just perfect for our anniversary and very reasonably priced for the portion and the quality of food you get. I would come back to Durham just for this meal!! Perfect xx
Went to Durham for the Lumiere and booked this city centre restaurant - food was fabulous - location perfect and very friendly helpful staff. Sea bass and burger were very tasty and reasonably priced. Will definitely return.
A really lovely Restaurant right on the River. Very reasonable pricing with very tasty food. A personal welcome and respectful handshake from the owner/Manager. The Chefs cooking is the finest quality - fine dining standards - the last time I ate something this good was in Paris. A lovely outdoor seating area and a trendy fun interior with lights and also good music (the speakers are just right have that bass feel you would get in a Jazz Bar). Such a good evening. Highly recommend. 5 stars. A special mention to Sebana, Jane and George. All excellent. A quick helpful note: your website is currently down.
First time for my wife and me . Very pleasant restaurant with friendly and helpful staff. Excellent Ribeye steak cooked perfectly to order and well presented. Will definitely be returning Highly recommended.
An afternoon delight - meatballs and chicken kabab were lovely. The Spanish white wine was a great pairing. Staff made our afternoon as we learned about the University and city of Durham.
My wife and I don't get to have date nights very often so when we do we search far and wide for somewhere that's going to be memorable, this little restaurant in Durham is situated just off the bridge not too far from the car park and you are in the heart of Durham. A lovely friendly atmosphere perfect for larger groups or if you prefer just a table for two it really is perfect. Excellent service from the polite and helpful staff. The food was very well presented, the only reason the food got a 4* and not 5* was we ordered the Sea bass and it was unbelievably fishy (I know, I get it, it's fish 🫣😄) but this was far too strong which normally means it's an older fish but there are ways to prepare Sea bass to avoid this off putting overpowering taste to allow Sea bass to taste as it should, I was however impressed with how well they took those feedback onboard and will definitely be back. In short, one small blip didn't 'spoil' ,(get it? 😆) our night and I would definitely recommend giving this delightful restaurant a go, you won't be disappointed! ☺️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great spot! I always visit when I’m back in Durham and it never disappoints. The food is excellent quality, consistent and very reasonably priced. The staff is very accommodating and friendly each time I’ve been in there. Definitely one of the best places in Durham to eat and drink! ❤️
We visited today 19th April for a joint birthday meal. We were actually 1st in the restaurant so could choose a nice table. The young man who took our order was so lovely and the young woman who served us was helpful and pleasant. Marvellous staff, they do you credit..I just wish we had got their names. Remiss of me. As to the food, we couldn't fault it, best mushrooms I've ever had and I am very picky with them. The steak was melt in the mouth..and I don't know what dressing they put on their salad but it was beautiful. Husbands kebab according to him was gorgeous and we will definitely be returning. Highly recommend....:)
Went to Durham to see the new avatar film in December, we walked in without a booking and got a table for two, no problem. Staff were very friendly and atmosphere was cosy. Had the best steak of my life hands down, no competition, my wife had a beautiful chicken burger and we shared a brownie with ice cream, this place is a must visit if you are a steak lover.
Had an amazing experience. The food was absolutely delicious—every bite was so good. What really made the night special, though, was the staff. Erin, Zari, and Adam were all fantastic—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. You can tell they care about giving great service.
Had an amazing dinner at 19Twenty tonight! The food was perfect juicy steak, delicious kebabs, and great sides. Staff were lovely and made us feel so welcome. The cocktails were honestly some of the best I’ve had in Durham, and the whole place just has a really nice, relaxed vibe. Can’t wait to come back!
Fabulous first time visit with my daughters. Niamh was amazing, polite and welcoming and great dessert recommendations. She went above and beyond with her service. Amazing steak and recommend the brownie. My daughter loved the Billy Bonkers burger. Definitely coming back.
Very nice food and relaxing environment.
Stunning food, lovely service:) Thank you!
Went there for lunch, service was excellent, drink orders taken, then food ordered, we ordered a selection of starters, like a tapas. The food came quickly and was excellent. I would definitely recommend and will be returning 👍
My 2nd time here with my beloved partner Jade and our newborn, Alfié. Our waitress Hannah was an absolute star and so welcoming to us. She loved our son Alfié so we just had to add a pic of them both for the review. Great food, great prices and perfect staff all around. Enjoy and cherish this ppace when you visit.
Good vibe restaurant in Durham. Food was fantastic, a nice variety. Had the steak and wife had the salmon. They were not the best, but still delicious. Atmosphere is great, large window to watch the people come and go.
We visited Durham and saw this place in passing, after chatting to a few locals we decided to give it a go. It had a great atmosphere, chilled music that wasn’t over the top or too loud. We were served by Courtney and Erin, both servers were extremely attentive, friendly and a pleasure to be served by, I can say solely based off the pictures online we wouldn’t have gone, but the pictures themselves do not do the food justice! Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted fantastic, served with a great range of cocktails, wines and beers I would definitely recommend this place to families, couples date nights and meet up with friends. The owner was extremely friendly too and also has a fabulous mixology bar down the road we were offered a free Prosecco each which was very kind of him!
The food was delicious and the service was great. The hanging kebab was the best I’ve ever had, so tender, I highly recommend trying it.
So glad we booked here. Lovely place, we were not disappointed. Great location, we were seated upstairs and the lady changed our table so we were seated nearer to the windows, nice views. Staff were very attentive, our waiter was so polite (Dima) and the food was delicious! Great value and a lovely atmosphere, will definitely return when we are back in Durham.
Popped in last night with my wife, wasn’t very busy and we managed to get a window seat, staff were wonderful and we got a couple of small starter plate to share. Food was beautiful. Can’t wait to visit again
Had a great delicious dinner with Zara, Amy and Danny taking great care of us! Will definitely come back
Stunning venue and great staff made the evening really enjoyable. Cocktails and food were exceptional
Really nice place, staff really friendly - burgers were fab - hanging kebab looked amazing
Tremendous service, Carol was phenomenal and worth going just for her service and attention. I visited with my wife and son and from the moment we arrived she made us feel special, all the way through to leaving. Looking forward to coming back.
My boyfriend and I came just after opening time. The food was phenomenal, the atmosphere was gentle and our server was lovely. I would absolutely recommend it for a date location — I'll absolutely be going back.
Danny, Sophie and Amy were great hosts. It was busy on a Wednesday night but really attentive. Food great too. Would recommend.
This is a comfortable, clean restaurant. The style of the chairs has enhanced the look of the restaurant. The Hugo Spritz was really refreshing. The Rib Eye was flavourful with mushrooms and lightly grilled half tomato. The combo with fresh salad greens and delicious fries was a plus. Highly recommend trying the rib eye with peppercorn sauce! The Sea Bass with nice. It would have been better if it had been served with less sauce. The grilled broccoli was tasty. The service was excellent with polite and enthusiastic staff.
Nice bar restaurant with good atmosphere. We wanted a drink and a snack rather than a proper lunch. I had the muscles with cream. The suce was good but the muscles were rather on the small size. The bruscettas were very good and the meatballs with sweet potato chips were delicious. They forgot to put our order through so we waited a long time. They apologised and brought it in. A drink on the house would have been a good .
Amazing experience. It was a little slow but completely understandable for a Saturday night. We both ordered a medium rare steak but mine did come out well done. I think the server just misheard or the chef misread the ticket or it was accidentally put in wrong tho as my freinds came out a perfect medium rare. It was still delicious for a well done steak tho so if you do like your steak well done then I would 100% recommend. The peppercorn sauce was amazing and so were the homemade chips were great. Will come again. :)
Our trip was a Father's Day present from my daughters. The food was beautiful it took about 20 mins from ordering to it being served at our table. We all really enjoyed our meals and the ones that had dessert also enjoyed them .We had booked a table so there was no waiting, to take our table. The only downsides were it was quite hard to make eye contact with the waitresses at times and when we ordered the desserts we also ordered a large rosè. The rosè did not arrive till the desserts were nearly finished. These couple of things will not stop us from going back again.
We ordered a bottle of white zinfandel but it was served warm. Disappointed with the warm wine taste, I decided to asked the bar waiter a wine cooler filled up with ice, but out of my surprise they offered me ice cube for my wine and I had to keep repeating my wine bottle to be chilled in a wine cooler a few times. Staff are friendly but need more training on beverage knowledge. Great atmosphere, Gorgeous and delicious food.
Food was tremendous. Service was great, not too in your face whilst being attentive. Great to people watch. Will be returning when we come back next summer.
We found it quite difficult to find a nice place for lunch in Durham until we chanced upon this place. Pleasant and comfortable venue with really good food and excellent service watching the world go by. Delightful.
Good value Argentina steak served sizzling hot with fries, salad, grilled tomato and mushrooms. Perfect comfort food on an icy January evening.
We visited 19Twenty for an anniversary under the promise of no-frills, good quality British fare, but were both largely disappointed. The house white was well-priced and thoroughly enjoyable, but this was by and large the best part of our meal. The calamari was clearly cooked from frozen; the squid was chewy and unpleasant, while the batter was overly salted and akin to something one would expect on fried chicken, rather than the light beer batter that should be found on calamari. The bruschetta was better, but still largely lacking in any discernible flavour, with soft tomatoes which had forsaken all necessary acidity for wateriness. After the starters my cutlery was taken- and never replaced! I had to use my partner's (used) cutlery from his starter for my main as no waiters returned after delivering our mains (despite our requests for sauces to accompany the chips). Both of us found the meat- in the burger and the kebab- overwhelmingly dry, but the fries were perfectly edible: crispy, well-salted. To its credit, the kebab was flavoursome, and the burger aided by its accompanying cheese and sauce. Our waitress was unfailingly friendly, but there were just three occupied tables in the restaurant with as many waiters, and we still felt completely neglected! The ambient lighting was a lovely touch and the food wasn't hugely expensive, but I can say for certain that we will not return.
Delicious cocktails, but the waitress was so rude it was almost comical! An impressive degree of hostility towards 3 friends wanting a quiet drink together on a Friday evening. I hope her day got better!!
Slowest service, we ordered salads only as we were on time constraints, they took at least 30 minutes to be served. There was only 1 other couple in the cafe when we ordered. Waitress didn't appear to understand the orders, needed to check them on 2 seperate occasions. Slightly overpriced for what we received.
Good food - burgers and kebabs - but very disappointing service. Over half an hour to get drinks over and over an hour and half for the mains to arrive. Little or no explanation or apology until the owner/manager arrived. Pity..
Thought I’d treat myself to the Argentine Rump and chips. The chips were hard and crunchy, the steak came in these thin slices, was definitely not worth the money and not how you do a proper argentine steak. Avoid.
