Thankyou so much Joshua for making our Wedding Anniversary so special . We received a warm welcome from the manager and who introduced to Joshua . Throughout the meal took fantastic care of us . The meal was great value and was delicious. Will definitely return in the future this was the first visit and not the last . Thank you for the lovely anniversary wish with the brownie .

This restaurant is an absolute pleasure to dine in, not only is the food fantastic (best steak in Newcastle) the atmosphere, ambiance and setting is so enjoyable. The service is second to none, nothing is too much trouble, this really does not feel like a chain restaurant in any way, the flavours of the food are outstanding, especially in this restaurant. We tried Gaucho 02 when In London as I would say Gaucho Newcastle is one of our favourite restaurants, the London 02 restaurant was supposedly the flagship and it was not comparable to the Newcastle Gaucho, it should be the other way round. The staff work so hard and so well as a team nothing is too much trouble, Thank You Paige and you're amazingly talented, professional, welcoming, approachable team.

Great food, great service, and great value. Marked down on atmosphere as we were in a private room and there seemed to be a great vibe in the main restaurant room.

Such a beautiful restaurant with fantastic food. I visited here with a good friend as a special treat for us both before our visit to The Sage. We were welcomed by Craig who looked after us brilliantly throughout as visit - such a credit to the restaurant. I love how the steaks are brought over before ordering, to help show you the different cuts of meat available. This definitely helped with my decision beforehand. I had the scallops for starter which were so delicious followed by the 300g Fillet steak alongside a couple of sides. I was also unsure on which sauce to choose from and Craig allowed me to try the Béarnaise sauce before deciding, which was a good job as it wasn’t for me! So I chose to have my steak with a peppercorn sauce. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the visit was exactly what I had hoped for. Total class with incredible tasting food. Yes, for some, it is a little on the higher end price wise, but it is worth every penny. Highly recommend and will definitely visit again.

We came here for the first time yesterday and we were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We had the Gaucho sampler and I had the mash and it was so lovely and creamy, best steak I've ever had in my life and the desserts were unreal. I had the Apple and Date's sticky pudding so delicious, I thought the portion looked small but it wasn't I nearly didn't finish it but I did because I knew I would regret it later if I didn't haha. The staff were warm and welcoming. I would really recommend this place.

Had a great graduation meal at this restaurant. My friends loved the steak, while I was amazed by their cheesecake. Would definitely recommend it! The evening was even better because of Angela. She was friendly and attentive, even surprised us with complimentary brownies and a bottle of sparkling wine. Loved it!

Came for restaurant week, the food was wonderful, the steak melted in your mouth. Staff were very professional and helpful. Bit on the pricey side £15 for one cocktail, £5 for water, £5 for bread etc but was a nice place for a treat or a special occasion.

Beautiful bar / restaurant in Newcastle City centre. Staff are absolutely lovely and drinks + food are beautiful. Popped in over the bank holiday weekend for drinks, sat at the bar. Bradley was extremely helpful and professional, I said to surprise me with a fruity cocktail and I was very pleased with what he made. It looked and tasted beautiful (photos attached) will definitely return and recommend to friends and family

First time visiting Gaucho, and it was a very pleasant evening. We started with the tuna tartare, which was full of flavour, before moving on to the shared platter - the steaks were outstanding and cooked perfectly medium rare, just as they should be! There’s a great selection of sauces and the sides were just as impressive. We also ordered the mac and cheese which I felt was slightly under-seasoned but it didn’t take away from the overall experience. Our waiter was excellent! very knowledgeable and recommended a fantastic Argentine Malbec that paired beautifully with the meal. Overall, a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommend and thank you Gaucho!

Fantastic food—the steak was delicious and cooked perfectly to our request. The room and overall ambience were amazing, and everyone had a wonderful time. We had two children with us, and the staff were very accommodating, which we truly appreciated. All the other food was well complemented and enjoyable. We would definitely come back again.

We went for Sunday dinner for our anniversary. We were greeted as we went in and shown straight to our table. It wasn't much of an issue, but we were placed next to a very talkative table when there were quite a few others elsewhere free that could have offered more privacy. Once seated at our table, our server, I believe his name was George, very politely asked if we would like some pre-meal snacks whilst we made our decisions. We chose some olives, which were very tasty. For drinks, we had a bottled IPA and a Chimichurri Paloma, which we both enjoyed. I had originally asked for a draught and was offered a Rosa Blanca, but the server came back and informed me it wasn't available. My second choice, Guinness, was only available in a bottle. For mains, we both got the beef roast with a side of cauliflower cheese and Latin mac and cheese (unsure of what made it Latin). The sides were good, and the main beef and gravy were delicious. My only gripe is I wish the potatoes were crispier. Gravy and Yorkshire puddings are unlimited. For dessert, we got a cheesecake and a lemon tart. I would have liked a bigger portion; however, this was possibly a case of eyes bigger than my belly. Both left fully satisfied. To top it off, the server George remembered it was our anniversary and gave us two glasses of champagne—a really nice touch. All in all, a really nice meal with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Will be back again for the Steak. Word of warning a discretionary 12.5% is added to the bill.

Visited for the first time for an early dinner on Sunday before a show, the service was so friendly and our waiter George was great! Food was delicious too, the wine menu is quite expensive but a great selection. The restaurant was very quiet when we first got there as we were eating very early, so would be great to come back on a busier evening!

Took my boyfriend here for his 25th birthday, and had the best time. The staff were so friendly, Sophie our waitress was very sweet and not at all pushy. The guy who seated us (Jonny I believe his name was) was very brilliant too and overall the atmosphere in the restaurant was so calming and the ambience was great. I would certainly reccomend the food as it was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. They even brought us a free cheesecake to say happy birthday. 10/10 experience☺️☺️

Fantastic. Mine and my girlfriends first time at Gaucho’s, couldn’t have been happier. Both food and service was excellent. Zac was an amazing server both on a casual friendly level and on a professional dining level. Made us feel so welcomed and treated us brilliantly. Was the crowning jewel of our 6th anniversary meal. Loved talking about my shared interests with Zac and he gave great advice on wine for me and my partner. As well as the service being the best I’ve ever had the food was phenomenal, the cow of which my rare rump steak was produced from could’ve very well been part of the Titan God Helios’s herd of sacred and immortal cattle. Literally and figuratively. It was divine. We will be back and we hope Zac is working when we do, couldn’t recommend this restaurant more.

We had the restaurant week menu. It was great value for price. The starters, steaks and the basque cheesecake were fantastic. We also had the chimichurri margarita which was wonderful. Our waiter, Angela (or Angelica?) was really attentive and lovely. The only teeny tiny negative I could mention is the choice of roast veg was a bit strange. It consisted of roast bits of carrot and squash. A bit odd pairing with steak. Other than that, wonderful meal. Will definitely come back.

We had a fantastic experience at Gauchos. The food was delicious, perfectly cooked, and full of flavour, and the atmosphere made it an ideal place for a relaxed but special meal. A huge highlight of the evening was our server, Zac — he was friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome without being overbearing. His service really elevated the whole experience. We’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend Gauchos to anyone looking for great food and excellent service. Thank you again ! Especially to zac 💜🫶

I had an outstanding evening here! Our waitress was simply fantastic—so welcoming and informative about the menu. The food and drinks were top-notch, and the whole place had a lovely atmosphere. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the service was incredibly quick. I honestly can't wait to come back!

My husband and I came to Gaucho for our wedding anniversary and had an amazing night! The resturant itself is beautiful, all of the staff are so friendly and accommodating (a credit to the company), the food is delicious, beautiful steak selection and 10/10 for the cookie dough! I'd absolutely return for a special occasion and have recommended it to friends already!

We went to try out Gaucho on Restaurant Week and chose from the set menu. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the starters and desserts were equally fantastic. The staff could not be friendlier and we're happy to talk us through other options on the main menu. The food came quickly and was presented beautifully. The Restaurant itself is fairly new and has a great ambience and design. We're already thinking of when we will return to have an evening meal to try some of the other steaks from their extended menu. Would completely recommend Gaucho to everyone!

We had an amazing experience at Gaucho :) Perfectly cooked, delicious meal and a warm atmosphere made for a great dinner with my partner. Our server, Zac, was also incredibly helpful, friendly and attentive which elevated the experience. Looking forward to visiting Gaucho again and can’t recommend it enough. Thanks again for a great meal (and incredible service from Zac)!

Free £150 meal with Amazon express platinum card. Quite pricey, however food was served fast and was hot. Was given a dirty plate which was very off putting so just ate Mac and cheese out of the dish. Not bad sized portions of food and it all tasted amazing. Steak and wagyu beef burger was tender and juicy. Even though the meal was very good, there’s still local places with the same quality of food but at much lower prices, would come back as a treat or if there was an offer

First time dining here, as soon as we walked in the staff were very warm and welcoming. The atmosphere was buzzing, there was a great vibe about the place and the decor looked great. Food was amazing from starter to main then dessert, could not fault it at all, delicious, hats off to the chefs. Will definitely be back

I had a fantastic meal here. the waitress is very friendly and takes her time you get the choice from a plate of meat which you can choose. open kitchen you can see your chefs preparing your food. no matter which course you take there is always something tasty in between, you also get value for money here. good food then this is definitely recommended

Very nice food and atmosphere! Should be here for some fine dining! 2nd time here and this time on purpose for a great dinner experience. Served by Angela and she has great recommendations to the food and drink options. Look for her if you need any help on options. Entire dining experience is fantastic. Anyone in town should try this!

One of my favourite steak restaurants in Newcastle! I would say this restaurant is on the pricey side but you get what you pay for really. My tables server was Romy, she was very attentive and friendly. Food was delicious, I 100% recommend getting the truffle Mac and cheese as something a little different for a side with your steak and going for a cocktail. Everything was beautifully presented too. I would recommend for friends, dates and I did see some big groups whilst I visited too and food took an average time to come out even when the restaurant seemed full!

We ordered from the set lunch menu earlier this month in Gaucho Newcastle. Food was fabulous and the set menu price was quite reasonable. We were particularly impressed with the service, our server Angela was very helpful and welcoming. Lovely place for a special meal.

Absolutely loved eating at this restaurant last night, the atmosphere was great they had a live DJ and the service was immaculate, our waitress was Angela and she really took the time to explain the menu and gave us fabulous recommendations! All the other staff were helpful too! The food was delicious and I would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone ❤️👌🏼

My wife and I celebrated a first night away from our little man. This was the perfect place to do so: the food, service and atmosphere were excellent. It is pricey but was very much worth it, as was the sumptuous wine. We had to send a steak back to cook a little longer, and the service was happy to do so. They were knowledgeable, respectful and attentive. Will certainly be recommending and returning. Thank you!

Me and my partner just came back from Gauchos and OH MY GOD!!! Since the second you step into the restaurant the service is absolutely fantastic. The food was out of this world, the beef was beyond perfect, the seabass ceviche with arepa, fantastic, the empanadas… you need to try them all 🙌, the cookie dough unreal (I regret sharing it 🤣) the atmosphere is cozy and romantic, the decoration is beautiful. the maître was very nice, chatty and very professional. And last, but not least! ANGELA! our waitress, also incredible profesional and friendly at the same time, she recommended the desert and it was spot on! Thank you for your service 😊 We will be coming back again! As you can read, we left the place very happy!

I just had an amazing experience at this place! From the moment I walked in, the staff were super friendly and really knew their stuff about the menu. The food and drinks were top-notch, and I loved the atmosphere. Everything was spotlessly clean, and I appreciated how quickly they served everything. Can't wait to go back!

Hello, we visited for Sunday dinner and there was a large group of us of 7. Service was excellent, we were served by Mufasa who was attentive and friendly, with great attitude. Food was tasty, the only issue was that the gravy pot were tiny so as a result we had to ask Mufasa to run for several more gravy pots for each person, bless him. The stand out was the flavoursome beef, gravy, yorkshire puddings and roasted potatoes. (However possibly the beef could be cut into thinner slices as it was hard to eat and chew). We really enjoyed the gentleman playing the guitar in the background as well - overall thank you so much for our meal!

Superb meal. Steaks of very high quality and cooked perfectly. The service was excellent, and in particular, George was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurant was quite loud, and we struggled to hear others at the table (this the 4* for atmosphere). Recommended.

We were here recently for lunch, excellent food and the special is fantastic value. Great service from joshua very knowledgeable about the food and wine. We've been here several times and it is always excellent. If only they could extend the cocktail specials to lunchtime.

Beautiful looking space in a nice old building. Great staff and great atmosphere and really good food without being stuffy or too formal. Chimichurri Ribeye was delicious and wife had one of the best rump steaks I’ve tasted (not sure why it’s square shaped to be fair but it works). Great cocktails and wine selection. Alcohol free wine would be a great addition to the list for drivers and those who want it.

Edit- We took Paige’s kind offer to return for a complementary meal, and the food and service were excellent. Thank you- we really appreciate it! Arrived 5 mins early for a 7pm booking for 2. Host asked if she could take my umbrella as it was wet, and asked us to sit at the bar as no tables were available. We sat at the bar for 35 minutes with no updates. We then ate a lovely, but very rushed, 3 courses (we had paid the bill within roughly 45 mins of being seated). The meal was so rushed that a waitress nearly brought our desserts before our main courses plates were cleared (we had the set festive menu so they took the dessert order at the beginning of the meal). We then paid, and spent 5 minutes finishing our drinks. They were so desperate to get rid of us that another waitress tried to take our payment in this time after we had already paid, making us feel like we had overstayed our welcome. I understand that they need to keep to timings, but it is not our fault that the previous tables took too long. Then, I asked the host for my umbrella on the way out and she could not find it. I looked through their pile of umbrellas on the floor, and we came to the conclusion that mine had been taken by somebody else. I was offered a half hearted apology and no form of compensation, and then got soaked on the walk home as I was left without an umbrella in the pouring rain. It is a shame that the meal was let down by the service (however, the waiter that took our orders/ brought our drinks was lovely and I cannot fault him at all for this).

I visited for the first time and had a really nice experience overall. I cannot remember the exact names of the dishes from the menu, but the starter was decent and enjoyable. For my main, I had the steak and fries. The steak was okay, nothing particularly special, but the fries were honestly some of the best I have ever had, perfectly cooked and very tasty. For dessert, I had the sticky toffee pudding and it was really good, warm and satisfying. The service was great throughout, the staff were friendly and attentive. Overall, it was a good experience and I would visit again.

We had a set menu for two and this was our first time visiting. Level of service was excellent from start to finish - special thanks to Angela for being so friendly and accommodating. Nice ambience inside the restaurant too - asked for a quieter table which we got. Food was good but perhaps not quite to the level expected for the price. Meat itself was ok but not the leanest cut (but perhaps we ordered the wrong dish). We had wine and cocktails - cocktails in particular were delicious and a highlight. Overall, we had a nice experience and I would recommend.

O

Gaucho Newcastle offers a recently updated and comfortable setting, though the tables felt a bit cramped. While the food was good, the prices were not reflective of the quality and should be adjusted to better match the produce. Staff were pleasant but lacked sufficient knowledge about the menu and drinks for a high-end restaurant. However, they did accommodate a request to view the fresh meat selection before cooking. They provided complimentary drinks for our anniversary, which was a thoughtful touch—thank you.

C

Decent enough food. Service a little slow. But automatically adding 10% as a tip seems to be a thing - that's a bug bear and a half. I get that for big parties - but we were a table of 2. The service wasn't fantastic so why would we tip? Just pay the bill.... But also, I'm not that bloke that tells a waiter "You've been a bit shan fella, you need to take that tip off".... Safe to say, the tip was paid. Food was nice and the lager they served in the tiny glass was really fantastic; the menu could've been clearer I was buying a half rather than a pint (Had 2 half pints, £11). Unlikely we'll go back. It was fine, But not "£72 for 2 people on a Tuesday night when the restaurant is half full for a glass of wine, a pint of lager, a special and a main" fine. £64 was more than fair for the food and drink, if a little inflated by charging £5 for a half a lager. Adding the service when it just didn't warrant it was just presumptuous, and a bit rude.

J

We visited yesterday for Valentine's Day. Lunch cost us just short of £100 and I only had a starter with chips!!! The food was ok but not worth those prices. I had the Tuna tartare but the sauce was so spicy I couldn't taste the Tuna at all. The tables were so close to each other we felt like our valentines meal was with four other people we didn't know!! They are obviously maximising the seating capacity but it has ruined the experience in our opinion. The only redeeming feature was the service we received. I didn't catch her name but she was very attentive. We won't be returning and wouldn't recommend.

C
Cara Moochie

Steaks taste amazing but service could be much better. Our table was not ready when we arrived and were left to find the bar unassisted. Got to the bar and was ignored by the bar tenders. After about 15 mins, still without a drink a different waiter approached us asking who we were. Eventually got taken to our table which was tiny and very close to other tables. Had to be careful not to inadvertently clear the table next to me with my butt as I sat down and I don't have a large butt. So food was good just a shame about the poor service.

R
Ryan Fung

The service and atmosphere were superb! However , the steak was below average. We ordered a sirloin & a fillet, which the sirloin was undercooked and have the tendon not properly taken out! We were a bit disappointed as it’s our first time trying out Gaucho after hearing so many good comments about it.

N
Neil Downey

3 stars overall - it isnt the best steak in newcastle at all - its far from a bad steak dont get me wrong, but your prices are wild! £350 for 4 people and 2 of those had your £17.50 cheese burger! It would be wow … as in great… and it wasnt…but it was very good at not being terrible!

We recently visited to celebrate my birthday and chose the set evening menu. While the food was truly delicious, the service fell short of expectations. We waited a long time to be seated, and there were significant delays between courses. Unfortunately, the slow service impacted the overall atmosphere and took away from what should have been a special occasion.

H
Hugo

Had dinner with wife, daughter and 2 grand children at Gaucho when both Rio’s were full for reservation. The steak were expensive for the portion given and they were just like normal steak you can get from a diners or cafe ….nothing special. We had 1 rib eye , a 400g rump steak, and 2 children steaks. The sides were ridiculous and way below par and at a ransom price for it. I wonder if this establishment is serious about their food . A Harvester Mac & cheese (tasty) served piping hot is way better than Gaucho small, mediocre and pricy Mac & cheese which was served at room temperature ( not tasty) …sigh The veg., ( I better not comment)

A
Amelia Purdy

Atmosphere was welcoming and friendly, and our waitress was very kind and attentive to our party. However the food is heavily overpriced and underwhelming. We had two veggie’s and their dish was just a bit of veg on a plate you had to order a side as extra, which for the cost of the main dish is extortionate! The other guests who chose meat dishes didn’t particular impress either. For the price of the dishes the presentation didn’t meet the mark in my opinion. The food tasted ok but again nothing that I haven’t had in my local gastro pub or a cheaper restaurant. Food and drinks was very limited with choices, on top of certain dishes/ drinks not being available. Overall, not my worst experience dining out but I will not be going back at that price.

EDIT: to reply to the email i was sent . we were not asked how the food was and we would’ve felt cheeky with amount of things. Please no more emails I don’t want your complimentary dessert on my next return as we won’t be coming back but we appreciate the apologies. ABSOLUTELY APPAULING!!! Never again will I return here. Took my girlfriend here for her birthday tonight and extremely disappointed by the lack of respect, food, drink and customer service. My girlfriend got medium rare steak and it was absolute vile. My burger tasted like McDonalds along with the saltiest chips. Zac who was serving us ruined the birthday surprise for the cake when there wasn’t anything on the menu she didn’t like and I was too full, so I asked for the bill. He looks at me in the most disgusting way and peer pressured my girlfriend into getting a desert. My girlfriend chose the chocolate brownie as she knew I I’d have it. He returns with a cheesecake places it on the table, and says it’s on us for her birthday. We obviously weren’t impressed as they didn’t ask us. Ended up asking for the bill again to be charged £11 for it !!! I had to mention to zac that he’s added the cake on. Zac had the cheek to say “I’ll have it for myself haha”. Not happy one bit and it’s ruined the atmosphere for my girlfriend on her special day! Sort your staff, food and customer service out because it’s absolutely embarrassing!!

Was abit early for my table so got a drink at the bar ended up being served 4 warm drinks off the bar waited till the absolute minute to sit us down when there was empty seats all over once we sat down I was still dying for a drink because everyone I got 4 different types of drinks all warm so asked for a bottle of water for the table warm they didn’t have what my partner asked for so then she just for simplicity said I’ll have same as me never removed price of steak pie and added a whole other meal so if we didn’t notice we’d have paid for something they didn’t even have in stock Food came literally a piece of steak on an ikea plate literally nithing else and a bowl of mash on the side presentation was insanely bad for a 170 pound meal for 2. Id avoid this this place at all costs had better weather spoons
