One of the best places in the Bay Area for authentic North Indian flavors. The variety of parathas is outstanding — perfectly cooked, flavorful, and served fresh. The Sarson ka Saag was rich and authentic, and the Soya Chaap was absolutely delicious. Food quality is consistent, portions are generous, and the overall taste truly feels homemade. The service is efficient even during busy hours, and the atmosphere is lively and welcoming. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic Indian comfort food.
I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant recently, and I was thoroughly impressed. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome with their warm smiles and attentive service. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and checked in just the right amount—not too much, not too little. The food was exceptional. Every dish we ordered was full of flavor, beautifully presented, and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The menu had a great variety, catering to both traditional and more adventurous tastes. I especially loved the lotus chaat and their special kofta with bread perfectly cooked and seasoned. Overall, the experience was seamless. Great ambiance, clean environment, and a team that clearly cares about both the food and the customer experience. I’ll definitely be coming back and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable meal.
We frequently dine in here! The flavors are fresh with nice rotational specials every month! The paneer poppers, green veg paratha, Pav Bhaji were tasty and flavorful! Service is great! Mr. Mafildo has always warmly welcomed us and offered excellent service! Mr. Mahesh was also quick, responsive and offered us great service!
Wonderful lunch, everything was fresh and tasty! A++. I really do not understand all these negative reviews. What we had was very good. Everyone liked their food. Only very minor "complaint" which is more of a preference was the green capsicum was a bit too al dente. The menu has a ton of variety, interesting selections. Yogurt made in-house. Mango olive salad was good. Prices reasonable (huge thali with appetizers, naan, drinks, dessert, all for $15!). Keep up the good work!
The menu has many options and the food is really good. They have interesting drinks as well! We had undhyu puri, chilli cheese toast, chilli paneer, the New Year special thali and we enjoyed all of it. We ate paneer sizzler from there at a friend's place and that was really really good too.
Really very good place for family gathering, parties .staff is very professional specially Mr. SUKHMAN is very nice and talented person taking our order and serving fast services.. He also explained and helped us to choose about some new dishes new for us and we whole family enjoyed our food there at Sunnyvale location. Will come back soon with family. Recommended for everyone.
Visited Chaat Bhawan for dinner recently and had a great experience. The dishes were vibrant, authentic, and full of that classic Indian street-food flavor. The service was smooth and friendly — big thanks to Sukhman for suggesting some fantastic items. Easily a spot I’d go back to. It's a must visit place
Chatbhavan is our go-to spot! Mahesh always greets us warmly and ensures our orders are taken care of beyond expectations. Our in-laws from India loved the taste and authenticity. As a pure vegetarian family, we love that we can enjoy everything guilt-free
One of the best North Indian restaurants in the Bay Area. Channa Bhatura is a must try. Bhatura (deep-fried bread) is perfectly made—soft in the inside and crispy on the outside. The chats and biryani/rice are mediocre. However the curries are delicious and pair perfectly with the wide variety of breads on the menu. They also have monthly specials which are a hit or miss. I would recommend sticking to the basics - curries and bread. You cannot go wrong with any curry or bread.
I visited Chat Bhavan for some chaat and had a great experience! I tried their sev puri and bhel puri—both were good, but the bhel was my favorite. The flavors were well-balanced, and the crunch was just right. I also had their cutting chai, which was decent. They have an extensive menu with plenty of options to explore, so I’ll definitely be back to try more. A great spot for chaat lovers!
Chaat Bhavan never disappoints - same taste and consistency that we've loved for over a decade. Had tried everything on the menu, was getting bored... but looks like they're still leveling up with new options. Monthly specials are great - would love to see more pics of those dishes to make us even more stoked!
Good place.. VFM. Not all, but most of the dishes were tasty! Also note about monthly specials - Specials won’t be updated/available on the 1st day of the month; but roughly after a week. Ex - March specials won’t be available on 1st day of March, but after a week of month start.
They ahve a decent spread of menu offering south indian, north indian and indochinese dishes. We ordered Dahi papdi chat, sarson ka sag makkezdi roti, soya chap sizzler and thali. All the food was fresh and tasty. Portion size was also decent. Definitely a value for money place with good taste. Surely will visit again many more times.
We got Chaat Bhavan catering for a large group, and it was decent but nothing mind-blowing. What I like: - Vivid flavors, with lots of spices. Hits the spot if you're craving a good classic tikka masala or butter chicken. Note that people with a lower spice tolerance may find it quite spicy. - Biryani platter had big pieces of chicken thighs/wings throughout. - The samosas are ginormous and could be a meal on its own. What I liked less: - Naan could have been fluffier. - Saag paneer and butter chicken were rather saucy. - Overall on the heavier side from the butter and sauces. - Cost came out to $25 per person for a ton of food; I think you can get away with ordering less per person because it seems like they overestimate. The regular menu looks extensive and features some items that aren't commonly found. I might be back to try more food!
Decent food. We mainly came here for chaat. They have an extensive selection of food. We got the vada pav, dahi batata sev puri, the sabudana vada and the mixed veg pakoras with masala chai and masala soda. Everything was well-made but we would have liked the sabudana vadas to be bigger. They were more like small patties. The chaat isn't out of the world mind blowing but it is good enough. Their servers need to coordinate or at least look up orders before approaching tables. We were asked twice if we wanted to order something when we already had.
We had heard about this place for its reputation with North Indian chaat and thali dishes, so a group of five of us decided to visit after quite some time. Unfortunately, the overall food experience was disappointing. One of the first issues happened when we ordered Manchurian with gravy. The staff did not inform us that they were out of the gravy version and instead served us dry Manchurian without mentioning the change. We had to clarify it ourselves and ended up returning the dish and ordering something else, which was quite odd. I also tried their Holi special thali, which included two vegetable curries, roti, dal, salad, chaat on the side, and soup. The soup and chaat were just average, and the vegetable curries were not served hot, which made them feel like they had been sitting for a while. Other dishes did not fare much better. The dabeli was mediocre, and the paneer tikka with naan was underwhelming. The paneer tikka in particular had a sour taste that felt off. The same sour flavor also showed up in the soya chaap dish, which made it hard to enjoy. Overall, the food quality felt subpar across most of the dishes we tried. Based on this visit, I would likely explore other Indian options in the area next time.
It is sad to see how much Chaat Bhavan has declined over the years. It used to be my spot for comfort food, but the quality just isn't there anymore. The vegetable fried rice was completely bland, and the avocado sandwich was terrible. The only redeeming part of the meal was the samosa chaat, which was decent
We have tried their dahi papdi chat, paneer chili and Vadapao. Dahi papdi chat was decent. Paneer chili was disappointment, there were way too many veggies in that dish compared to paneer. I am posting two images, first one after they served and second one after I finished eating paneer. You will see what I am trying to say. Vadapao was okay but not spicy. They have friendly and helpful staff. I forgot my credit card there and they kept it safely till next day.
Always loved the food and used to order to go almost every week, Asked for extra spicy poori bhaji today, got bhaji that's totally bland ( not even one chilli) Spoiled the weekend mood
The worst experience I ever had! Ordered food at 6:47 the food arrived at 8:42 the delivery didn’t come to the correct address I was had to walk 5 minutes to meet him Food arrived cold and missing product We wanted to have holiday meal it’s ended up that I had to order another meal from another restaurant
I took a Dabeli & it’s the worst Dabeli of my life. I really hope people don’t mistaken it as the real taste of Dabeli. Malai Soya Chaap was fine. The basket chaat was okayish & bland. The service overall wasn’t that great, we had to repeatedly ask for the item we had ordered and upon asking the waiter why hasn’t the requested item arrived, he gave a very rude and uninteresting expression. He kind of argued with us saying that he wasn’t the one who was told to get that requested item.
Whenever I go I feel disappointed with food and I remember back why I don't come here. Very recently I was craving indo-chinese food and ordered Manchurian and Veg Noodles and you expect the common preparation what we get back at home. But what we got was so bad I. Taste and not at all how it is usually prepped. This reminded me why I never come to chat bhavan and started writing this review right away. They have very few dishes that are good, the rest of the menu does not taste good at all.
I had high hopes for this restaurant based on the reviews, but I was sorely disappointed. the food lacked flavor. Biriyani had only potatoes, Tasteless, frankly I'm still in shock No flavor no salt it was just good looking., Gobi Manchurian and veg Manchurian was so sweet , I expected a lot more for the amount I paid. Not value for money. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone & never going to come back again. Overrated.
