We felt like we were in a Mexican hacienda. Several fountains throughout the place give it a very welcoming atmosphere. Food is plentiful. Had to take the rest of my fajitas home today. Great service. Great food. Lots of people for a lunch crowd. Very lively and great decorations. Clean bathrooms too.
If you are in Fort Worth and want to have some great Mexican food - you should definitely try this place. It looks like you enter the different country it looks so nice outdoor with little fountain. Food is great! I had street tacos and meat was so tender and delicious. Definitely coming back here in the future
The pitcher of margaritas was way more than I was expecting! Food was good but did tale about 50mins to come out. The singer was great and knew the song we requested. Waiter was super helpful and nice. Great atmosphere and wonderful date night. 10min walk to thr stockyards. Also of there is a line, go around the side to the back and sit on the patio. No line and they have heaters. So nice! Also also this is cash only, but they have 3-4 atm on site.
Visiting Fort Worth. Went there on a Thursday afternoon. Already ate, but still decided to pay a visit for their infamous Garden because my Gemini AI told me to -- and was not disappointed! The Garden is indeed gorgeous -- felt like I stepped in time and into another country. Already had a Salisbury Stake at Paris Coffee Shop half an hour ago; I just couldn't eat anymore. So I decided to try their desserts with their house coffee instead. Had 3 of their desserts: Sopapillas, Parlines, Leche Quemada. All amazing. My favorite was their Leche Quemada -- soft, moist and chocolatty. The atmosphere, the servers and all of the staffs are amazing! Especially their hospitality -- out of this world. I wanna take a moment to talk about my server, DANIELLA, for a second -- amazing young lady: attentive; very fast and efficient but not rushing; clearly loves her job and very good at it. She checked-in with me multiple times, asked me how I like it and if I need anything. Topped up my coffee. When I ordered my third dessert, she also brought me a little bag and said "here's a bag to take it with you if you can't finish it". Well. She was right; I couldn't finish it indeed. I don't even know myself that well; somehow she did. Being able to know your customers at this level is a gift.
This was my first visit to Joe T's since the blackout drunk nights of my youth when someone else was paying for drinks. Joe T's was always the fancy Mexican food place that aside from the patio, never seemed fancy at all. When I was younger...I didn't get it. Coming back this past Friday as a 41 year old with an appreciation for simple beautiful creations that withstand the test of time I can now tell you that...I get it! Enchiladas or Fajitas...don't ask questions...just pick which one you want more that night. Don't ask why they come and throw 6 or 7 tostadas with gooey melted cheese and perfectly spiced and diced jalapeno relish on your table and don't you dare say you didn't order em...just eat! Have a Pacifico or a Maragarita of any flavor, they use fine salt and it's a little different so be mindful if you're a margarita snob and that's a dealbreaker for you but they are...NICE AND EASY! The food is simple because it's cooked to perfection with consistency, quality, and a sense of urgency night in and night out! They serve 1000+ people a night on busy nights...don't ask why their menu is so simple...just enjoy the that it is served quickly, hot, fresh, and a heart warming, memory-drawing sampling of Tex-Mex cuisine. This is comfort food in the most comfortable and beautiful ambiance and they don't rush you out the door, they allow you to enjoy your time on the patio at night under the stars by the fire! I never understood what the fuss was all about but Joe T's isn't a fancy restaurant, it is an entire social comfort food experience completely dialed in on guest satisfaction. The staff is professional, prompt courteous and they keep the "on stage" and "of-service" mentalities approachable, friendly, and warm. The food, the atmosphere, the ambiance, and the team all work beautifully together making Joe T's a wonderful and unique experience not just dinner! Thank you so much for opening my eyes! Everything was great and the wait was only 30mins on a Saturday night the place was packed too. Food came out fast hot & fresh. The bonus was we were able to buy drinks while we waiting in line. Just remember the only take cash no credit cards & they have ATMs just in case you forget.
JTG Isabella was my server and she was amazing. Attentive, kind, and personable. Several people told me to try this place, and I’m glad I listened. JTG on the servers’ uniforms caught my eye right away. Simple Mexican food, but it’s done right. The salsa has a tiny kick, which is perfect for me since I’m a total wuss with spice. It’s super mild, but still has enough flavor to be delicious. The nacho came as cheese on a tortilla, and even that was great. I honestly thought the little building I walked into was the whole restaurant. Nope. There’s a huge garden area outside and an entire second building for indoor seating. The place is massive. Fantastic spot all around
This place is phenomenal! This restaurant has been open for 90 years. The food, service and atmosphere was awesome. It looks like a little restaurant from the front but you walk-through and find yourself in a beautiful botanical garden in the back. I was here for a late breakfast, but can only imagine the atmosphere on an evening. I highly recommend checking this place out. You will not be disappointed.
We dined in the indoor area and it still had a great atmosphere. It was about a 20 minute wait for Saturday lunch. The chips and salsa are great. Very corn forward warm chips, I’d say medium thickness, still very crispy. My favorite was the Chimichanga appetizer. The creamy, cheesy, savory flavor to come out of those little things is absurdly good. Especially with the sour cream and pico to top it off. The chicken flautas were very crispy and delicious. I loved how much guacamole they put on the plates on the side. Most places skimp but here they LOAD the guac on for no extra charge. The Mexican rice was the best I’ve had in a long time, very seasoned and oniony. All items were hot and freshly prepared.
The food that we ordered was the beef fajitas and cheese enchilada. We also ordered a margarita. The beef fajitas were the best I’ve ever had. The refried beans are so creamy and the rice was fresh. The cheese enchilada were alright, but the red sauce reminded me of chef boyard. The nachos were amazing, and the chips and salsa were so fresh. The guacamole was the best I’ve ever had. I would come back in a heartbeat.
Joe T Garcia’s is hands down the best Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to! Everything was perfect from start to finish. The homemade tortillas were the best!! They were sturdy enough to hold all the fajita fillings without falling apart, and they tasted fresh and authentic. The chicken was perfectly marinated and had flavors I’ve never tasted before…literally the best chicken I’ve ever had at a Mexican restaurant. The guacamole was so fresh and delicious, the cheese was clearly freshly grated, and the portions were generous. As a salsa lover, I was in heaven when they brought out a huge bowl of salsa with a spoon! I usually have to ask for extra :) The service was absolutely impeccable – attentive, and super friendly.. The atmosphere was very welcoming, and a little throwback to cozy Mexican spots I remember as a kid. I can’t wait to go back next time I’m in town!
I learned that Joe T’s is a staple of the Fort Worth area. It has a bunch of cooling seating areas outdoors and for sure lived up to the hype that I got beforehand. The service was quick and so was the food. It seemed like it was all preprepared but was still really good. I would absolutely recommend checking Joe T’s out!
Ok Joe T. Garcia’s is an absolute must try restaurant when visiting Fort Worth! This place is iconic and literally the best restaurant on planet earth in my opinion. Celebrities eat here, but the prices are super affordable! The outdoor seating area is absolutely gorgeous and I highly recommend the margaritas, the nachos and fajitas!! - @thathoustonmom
I went there for the first time and had the Chicken Fajitas and the Cheese Enchilada Dinner. While the food was above average, the atmosphere and service were exceptional.
Beautiful place. Eating outside with a nice view is a great dining experience. There is also live musicians playing from table to table. The waitress gave us water, chips and salsa as we sat down. The salsa had a kick to it and the chips were pretty good. We also had a tostada with jalapeño on it that was very tasteful too. The wait in line outside was about 30 minutes (Saturday around 5pm). We had the fajitas and a small enchilada dinner. The enchilada was good. The con tortillas were freshly made and very good. Also the flour tortillas were very fresh. We didn’t love the sauce in the enchilada. We were expecting more of a chili con carne sauce, not a red chili sauce. The beef taco was heavily seasoned with Mexican oregano which took over the flavor. Not awful but it felt a little off. The chicken fajitas are not huge as we were told. They could feed two but they’re THAT big of a plate. I did not love the chicken, it had barely any salt in it and it was very dry. The rice and the beans were delicious.
You are welcomed to a very large courtyard with outside seating. Being october the weather was perfect for outdoor dining. They had mariachi performers playing music. That was a nice touch. To the food. You only had two choices. Well three. Chicken or beef fajitas and an enchilada plate. I got the beef fijatas. They provide a generous side of guacamole, sourcream, pico and cheese. A heavy prlortion of steak, beans and rice. The steak was alittle salty for my taste alone but fixed up in a taco it was delicious. I hear they have a line to get in but we got lucky on a Wednesday at 6:30. Just walked in. But it was packed once inside.
**Cash Only Establishment** (ATM on site) Brought our grandmother here for her birthday, cool place! I’d never heard of it, so I was surprised to see the long line(s) out both ends. It was a long wait (about an hour) in the sun on a Saturday around 1pm but it was all good as they provided a cooler full of ice water! Upon arriving inside they have a small selection of gansitos and other sweets that can be purchased after the meal, and jars of salsa. The food wasn’t bad! Nothing incredible for all the hype, but I finished it all and I’d probably come back! The margaritas were pretty good, I had two (had to try both on the rocks and frozen, and if I had to recommend one I would recommend on the rocks). The atmosphere and aesthetic is what you really come here for I think, I didn’t even know there was a patio outside but I’m told it’s beautiful.
This is an okay family-style Mexican restaurant, but it’s definitely not worth any wait to be seated. The space is gigantic and does have a lovely patio. The menu is very small with little variety, which likely allows for quick table turnover—we were in and out in under an hour once seated. It took a bit of time to get menus and drinks, but the food arrived quickly. The food was solid and reasonably priced, though nothing really stood out. The house margaritas were good, but surprisingly expensive for the small size, especially considering they were served in plastic cups.
Visited Joe T. Garcia’s with a group of 6 and had a mixed experience. First off, the check-in process was confusing. We were told in line to notify the hostess, but when we tried, we got scolded and sent back to wait. Not the warmest welcome, but the line did move fast, and they handed out cold water bottles, which helped in the heat. Once seated, the atmosphere is beautiful—lush plants, stone walkways, and a real Mexican hacienda feel. It’s like dining in a garden. Definitely Instagram-worthy. Heads up: They are CASH ONLY. Yes, in 2025. In Fort Worth. There’s an ATM on-site, but it’s frustrating not being able to use a card in a place this popular. As for the food: we ordered the cheese quesadilla appetizer, beef fajitas, and combo fajitas. Everything came out fast and hot. The fajitas were flavorful with generous portions, and the tortillas were fresh. The food was solid—not mind-blowing—but good enough that we cleared our plates. We also had margaritas, which didn’t taste like fresh juice, but were cold, decent, and easy to sip on. Biggest downside? The heat. Most of the seating is outdoors, and there’s no air conditioning—just a few fans. It was over 90°F when we went, and by the end of the meal we looked like we just finished a hot yoga session. Definitely recommend going later in the evening or during cooler weather, or bring a portable fan if you can. Service was great though—super friendly, helpful, and kept things moving smoothly. Bottom line: Worth a visit for the atmosphere and experience, but it’s not the most comfortable in summer heat. Don’t forget cash (for both food and tip), and be prepared to sweat a little.
Not a true Tex-Mex example because the food is so disappointing and flavorless. Maybe they have a reputation and don't even try anymore. The enchiladas sauce is more like tomato sauce and the sopapillas are dismal examples of authentic Mexican cuisine. Go for the beauty of the gardens and fast, friendly service, but certainly not the food.
Went to dinner with a group of ladies today. This restaurant is apparently a staple. I was very disappointed in the chicken tortilla soup I ordered. It was mainly tortilla strips, and the broth was not very flavorful. Hardly any chicken was in my soup. I think the main attraction is the list of famous people that have been there to eat & outside patio area. Needless to say, I wasn’t impressed with the food. Also it’s cash only & they don’t split checks, so it makes it difficult if you’re with a group. Been there, done it, not interested in going back.
JOE T’s MEDIOCRE MEXICAN… I just don’t get the hype. Highly overrated. Maybe that’s why I haven’t been back in over 25 years. It is not surprising that everything on the menu tastes exactly the same because… everything on the menu is made of the same ingredients (tortilla, cheese, bell peppers & onions, served with sour cream & pico de gallo and in some cases guacamole). This is mediocre Mexican food at its best. Don’t get fooled by the commercialization of this restaurant. Most any mom and pop Mexican restaurant in and around the Dallas Ft Worth area can blow this place away. The patio is nice, when it’s not too hot to sit out there. As for the inside, it is poorly decorated and looks tired and dated. Don’t let the person roaming the restaurant floor disrupt your dining experience. She only wants to take a photo of you so that she can charge you for copies later. And they only take cash. Now don’t tell me it’s to keep the prices down. A credit card fee is only 3 - 4%, with many restaurants now charging that back if you choose to use a credit card. So why else might they only take cash? Just pay your taxes like everyone else does. Anyway, and regardless, I will never waste another second of my life eating Joe T’s mediocre Mexican food. I suggest you save your appetite for something better too!
This is a tourist trap. Food: Its basic. If you order the fajitas they will ask if you want sour cream and cheese, but won't tell you those come at an additional price. The food is mediocre. I have had better food at better prices elsewhere. Service: Everything came out way fast. You can't even enjoy your appetizer and drinks because as soon as you get started they're bringing out the food. This is fast food under the guise of restaurant prices. They want you in and out so they can process as many people as possible. Atmosphere: the Atmosphere inside was mid. If we would've sat outside I feel the experience may have been slightly better, but honestly not worth the money or time. I am not from Fort Worth, but surely there is better tasting tex mex or Mexican food in this town. This is bottom of the barrel. EDIT: I am looking at these 5 star reviews. It has me questioning why I ever trust reviews. How is this place not 3 stars or less.
