My partner and I ordered the Beef Pepper Rice, Spicy Beef Pepper Rice, and Cheese Fries. Holy cow our eyes were bigger than our stomach. Initially we were starving and thought we could finish at least two dishes. We could barely finish one each, feeling like we were busting at the seams. One recommendation is to order at least one dish that cuts the fat, something acidic or a vegetable dish as the beef dishes are immensely high in fat (and flavor)! Otherwise, if you are looking to gain some weight like I am, this place seems promising. I don’t need to pay for a gym membership. I need to pay for a Sizzling Lunch membership 🔥
- Garlic Pepper Rice *Spicy* ($15.50) + Egg ($1.00) i was craving kbbq but i was also not too hungry to do an all you can eat kbbq meal so my friend and i went to sizzling lunch which has a similar concept/i really liked the way it was proportioned - where it had just enough to fill me up 😌 something i appreciate about this store is how clean and friendly the staff members were and the food itself was super bomb 🤤i know that usually with this particular dish/chain of restaurants (or something similar) it's really hard to mess up since it's pretty straightforward. but regardless the taste or flavor can still be off. when i went that day the dish was really flavorful on its own and with the addition of teriyaki and soy sauce was *chefs kiss*!! and everything like the meat and rice tasted really fresh! if you're in the area then sizzling lunch would be a bomb decision 😎 to add on top - @mrsuntea_usa is right around the corner so you can pick up boba after 🥳
This Japanese restaurant is very unique since their dishes are served in teppanyaki style. I really like how the raw meat is sitting there until it’s cooked and that the rice is at the middle. Personally, I mixed them all together to get all of them flavors together. Also like the sauces and other condiments at each table. Each of them are good. It’s actually my third time coming here and decided to get the Kurabata Pork Belly. Really tastes good, but still prefer the Garlic Pepper Rice dish better. I also like how the theme of this restaurant fits the restaurant’s type. Gonna be coming back here to try other items!
So good that I went there 2 days in a row! I never had this kind of dish before, so if this is your first time, it will be an experience. The prices for the dishes are alsp very fair!
My daughter won a scholarship, and we went to this place to celebrate. It was my first time, and I really loved this place. It's fascinating to watch your plate being carried out, steaming hot. The flavor is delicious. The staff's service was exceptional.
Awesome presentation of simple ingredients. Very tasty! Had the spicy beef pepper rice, Additional flavor of garlic shoyu/teriyaki sauces, chilli pepper, pink salt and peppers. Sizzling plates brings out the aroma of the ingredients. Season, stir and serve after you get your plate,
Main sizzling plates are really good. Garlic Shoyu and Teriyaki sauces go well with the meat that cooks on your plate. The cheese meat rice dish sprinkled with corn was excellent. You eat it hot. Like Korean hot-stone bibimbap. Salad was a bit sweet. Not for everyone, but there is a lot of variety. The food is really hot. Quantity is large, so come hungry. Atmosphere is wonderful. Fancy ordering method is very nice as well. You order on the ipad on the table and they bring it to you.
Personal teppanyaki served on a sizzling plate where fresh ingredients are cooked right in front of you. The food is delicious and customizable with sauces on the table to match your taste. Plenty of free parking in the plaza. There can be a wait (30 mins to an hour), make sure you check in on the tablet inside (via Yelp waitlist). My friend and I went next door to play darts/ billiards to kill time. You order everything (including water) from a tablet at your table. Food is served quickly. They do NOT sell alcoholic beverages here. Minimal interaction, but good customer service. Expect to pay $25-30 per person. Highly recommend and I will be returning.
The meal exceeded my expectations from the first bite. I chose the spicy garlic beef rice plate, and it was served piping hot with bold and satisfying flavors. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared, making the experience truly enjoyable.
The gimmick of this franchise is that food is served on hot cast-iron plates, hence the "sizzling". It results in butter-burned texture on the rice and meat, definitely not something you can experience from an average takeout place. The food itself is solid and filling, but comes with almost no seasoning by default. Even though the dishes are named "pepper" dishes they have zero noticeable kick. You have to add salt and pepper to give the food some real pop. Presumably the spicy dishes come with more pepper. The restaurant staff was attentive. Ordering is done by scanning a QR code at the table, but payment is done at the cashier.
The inside is quite average for a Japanese restaurant. However, I enjoyed the service from the server who was attentive to the menu and the safety of the customer. I would recommend the Salmon Pepper Rice to anyone! It's not spicy at all, and I loved it from top to bottom, though, rice stuck to the pan quite quickly. If you're just passing by, why not try something new? Maybe this might be your favorite place for at least $10-$20!
The food was great! I ordered the spicy garlic beef rice plate, and it arrived sizzling hot. The takoyaki was alright. For anyone new to this style of food, you have to scrape the bottom while it cooks so it doesn't burn. But you get those tasty, delicious, crispy rice bits. Don't forget to use the table condiments. I personally used the salt, pepper, and miso.
Favorite hot plate place. The curry beef rice with cheese is really good. You can add more seasoning and spice if you'd like. Sometimes there's a wait for a table but they give you your food pretty quick once you've ordered. The fries are good if you eat them right away.
Sizzling Lunch was really good and was recommended by family when we visited the Bay Area. Interesting concept of cooking your own fried rice with meats ranging from American Wagyu, think slice port belly, Salmon sliced fillets and the umami of the garlic pepper rice was on point! Definitely get the corn cheese as an appetizer and the gyoza was good as well. We definitely recommend checking this place out.
Best place to get hot plate food. This seems to be the only restaurant that specializes in this type of food. Food comes on a hot plate with raw meat, your choice of carbs, and added sized like eggs. The meat and carbs fry and cook before you eat. This place has garlic shoyu and garlic pepper that season the food very well and you can add as much as you would like. Ordering is done on an ipad at your table where you can see pictures of the dishes and order at your own pace. The service is great the waiters will come and check on you and keep your water topped off. I really recommend this place. It's a bit pricey but worth it for the amount of food you get.
Overall a solid experience from checking in, which took less than 5 mins since we were checking out the yummy ice cream menu next door. Orders are placed via tablet but fast service. Food is all yummy and can customize to your own needs. Would recommend and come back!
Solid place to get a hot plate. Tastes good, fresh ingredients and a convenient setup. You check in and order from a tablet and food comes out as it's ready. The inside is clean and the seats don't feel cramped at all. Employees were all nice when we were there. Plus, it's next to a couple dessert shops, so you can get your fix after dinner without needing to drive anywhere else.
Very good food and wait staff is friendly and attentive. The only thing is the background music is a bit too loud for me. Definitely continue to patronize this restaurant!
I've passed this place quite a few times and finally decided to try it. I'm glad I did. The food is very good. I chose the fries with a special sauce as well as the pepper beef and rice. The meal comes out on a sizzling cast iron plate. The beef is raw and is cooked in front of you on the hot cast iron plate. You can cook the meat by itself with some butter or mix everything all together. Staff was great and bathroom was clean. I'll be back again soon.

It's like lunch but sizzling. I brought my co-workers here while it wasn't too busy and the food came at a reasonable time. It was the first time for everyone and they all enjoyed it! Prices were reasonable too and it was fun to be in. It's right next to the ice cream place too for desert!

Pretty good spot for Japanese food. Although their food is quite good, I've noticed that their meat portions have gotten significantly smaller than when I first started coming here. Service is pretty quick and friendly, and the restaurant is well kept and clean. I would recommend checking this place out.
Came here since I was a huge fan of the Cupertino location and that one is closed now. Good: - Just love how reliable it always is - I got the garlic beef pepper rice spicy which was a new dish that wasn't on the Cupertino menu and really liked how it tasted! - Tablet for ordering made the order process super fast and easy - Portion sizes are always good for a big meal Bad: - Always is more of a casual place so it doesn't have the best service or the most unique aspects of the dining experience. Overall really enjoyed coming here and just as good as the cupertino location!
Sizzling Lunch is picking up the slack that Pepper Lunch (company, not our local chain) has failed to supply. Look, you pretty already know the concept. You order, it comes out on a teppanyaki plate, you flip the meat after a bit of color, drop that garlic soy sauce after the flip (do it too early and it cools the plate too much), and then you dine. It's a simple, eat-it-as-you-like-it experience at a relatively cheap price point ($18 - $20 after tip and tax). So how does Sizzling Lunch improve upon Pepper Lunch's concept? Well, one thing they note is that the portion size is bigger, and yea, the rice portion is bigger. But the real genius is in the design and implementation of the plates. They're now curved upward, which not only helps retain heat since it moves upward instead of dissipating into the air, but also makes it easier to flip and handle the meat. More importantly, the temperature is set perfectly so that you can get that golden burnt rice, as long as you leave it alone. If you're the type of person to make a mess of the rice right away, then boy, are you just failing at eating. Leave the rice untouched, flip the meat once, twice tops, glaze the rice with some garlic soy sauce a minute or two after it comes to the table, 💥, you're good to go
We came here for a group of 9 people including 2 kids. Make a reservation to make your life easier. We’ve been here twice with a reservation and the table has been ready when we get there. They have both high chair and boosters available which is nice. The food is good but a little overpriced on some items in my opinion. Service was okay. They were busy so they kept forgetting to bring us water until halfway through our meal.
This is my first visit to sizzling lunch. I visited the Fremont store for a Sunday lunch. The place is very clean and waiting staff were very friendly. Since this was my first visit, they took the time to explain the ordering process and were constantly checking in to see if I needed anything. I ordered the Chicken pepper rice and a curry beef pepper rice with cheese for my son. We also ordered a side of teriyaki chicken wings. The order came out pretty quick. I would say under 10 minutes. The pepper rice was truly sizzling on a cast iron plate and with a right portion of garlic Shoyu sauce and chili pepper was very tasty and delicious. The chicken wings were well seasoned and crispy. I definitely will recommend this place. They also have Katsu curry, Pasta and Udon varieties which I definitely would love to try. The price for the menu items are a tad higher than what I anticipated but with a good wait service and a clean place, It is worth it.
I was surprised by the sizzling hot plate dishes, it’s very unique. Also got to try their appetizers tofu was great, and the takoyaki was delicious! More food stuff @vin.foodjournal
You checked in the app by iPad when you arrive. It said 12 to 22 minutes but we ended up have to wait for more than an hour in cold and windy day on Sunday night which was a real pain. We ordered the garlic beef rice with extra egg and corn which my son love, fried tankatsu curry which was okay, and I had the rib eye which was just okay with an extra onion. They have Shiracha hot sauce that you can ask, chili flake on the table, teriyaki sauce, garlic soya sauce which you can always add to your meal. I wouldn't wait for an hour but I would love to try other stuff like salmon, Hamburg or udon next time and during a non busy hours.

Service was fast and food was excellent! Of course, I would wish they would give a bigger portion, but it was amazing. The way to do it is to just dump teriyaki sauce.
It was my first time coming to this resteraunt, and it was a bit packed as we arrived around 3pm, with a party of six in tow. It listed the wait time as "20 minutes" but that estimate was way off. Most of the people on the wait list were coming in pairs, so the wait time was extra long for us as we had to wait an hour and ten minutes before seating. I would have preferred if it stated that every table that was going to be freed up would take 20 minutes (because a party of 6 would have to take 3 pairs of just emptied seating). Either way, the mismatched time estimation skewed prior arrangements and my brother had to leave right after he swallowed down his meal. My other brother was late for a package pick up and will have to rearrange for a different day. I have to say I'm very upset about how long we had to wait to get a seat. In spite of that, the service of orders are pretty quick and the food is great. It comes out sizzling on a cast iron pan, and the smells just made my mouth water. The atmosphere is awesome too, as it themes around Japanese buildings/paper screen doors with lanterns hanging about. If I were to come again, I'd only go with one other person. The wait would be too long otherwise.

TLDR: Overpriced, tiny portions of unagi, over-cooked greasy noodles, and not great tasting. I got the unagi pepper rice ($18.50) and substituted the rice for udon (extra $1.50), and the amount of unagi they gave me was downright pathetic and/or a highway robbery. Just a few puny pieces of unagi, some were just gross pieces of skin with no meat attached. Big bowl of extremely greasy and over-cooked noodles. I almost never waste food but I didn't bother packing up the bad-tasting leftover soggy noodles. Like the unagi, the tako in the tokoyaki is pretty much non-existent. You get a big ball of fried dough, and the actual octopus piece inside is about the size of a grain of rice.

Very disappointed with the service here. The waitresses showed a terrible attitude from the moment we sat down. When I politely asked for hot sauce, the waitress said they only had chili powder, even though we could clearly see bottles of Sriracha hot sauce right in front of us. When we asked again, she finally brought the hot sauce, but with a horrible attitude and made it obvious she wasn’t happy to help. Customer service like this is unacceptable. It’s not about the hot sauce, it’s about basic respect and courtesy, which this place is clearly lacking. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone who expects friendly or professional service.
