Fabulous food. Went for my birthday and I was very impressed.
Lovely meal after a spa day
Went for the set menu three course lunch which was excellent. Portions were small but all three together were a good lunch. Service was first class and the atmosphere was very chilled. Cocktails also excellent
We were blown away by our meal here. We visited on New Year’s Day and the service was very professional. We ordered mussels to start. I had lamb for a main and my wife had the rump steak. Everything was cooked to perfection and was full of flavour. The seasonal veg was fresh and tasty. 10/10 meal. Would definitely visit again.
Nestled in the heart of Glasgow’s five-star Blythswood Square Hotel, offers a refined yet relaxed dining experience that blends Scottish heritage with modern flair. The name—Gaelic for “fish”—sets the tone for a menu that celebrates local seafood, but it’s far from one-dimensional. My Starter: Beef Carpaccio Delicately sliced and beautifully plated, the carpaccio was a confident start. The beef was tender and well-seasoned, with just enough acidity and garnish to elevate without overpowering. A classic dish done with finesse. Main: Grilled Pork Loin The pork loin was grilled to perfection—juicy, with a subtle char that added depth. Accompanied by pork belly and black pudding with apple and caper sauce it struck a satisfying balance between comfort and sophistication. Partner’s Starter: Scallops The scallops were the star of the show—plump, sweet, and seared with precision. Their natural richness was complemented by a delicate sauce that didn’t steal the spotlight. A textbook example of letting quality ingredients speak for themselves. Partner’s Main: Fish & Chips A nod to tradition with a gourmet twist. The batter was crisp and golden, encasing flaky white fish that tasted fresh off the boat. The chips were chunky and well-seasoned, and the accompanying peas, curry and tartare sauces lifted the whole plate. Atmosphere & Service The setting is elegant without being stiff—think turquoise scallop tiles and plush seating. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable, striking that rare balance between professionalism and warmth. It’s the kind of place where you feel looked after without being fussed over.
We visited on 21 July 2024. The restaurant is located in the Kimpton Briswood Square Hotel. The restaurant is a very nice space, which lifted our spirits. The food was very tasty and made the best use of the ingredients, and we enjoyed the starter and main course in short portions. The hospitality of all the staff was also excellent. I would definitely recommend you to visit this restaurant with your loved ones, as it is a place where you can enjoy an extraordinary space and delicious food.
Delightful afternoon tea! Many varieties of tea to choose from, including loose leaf and tea bags. You can also get coffee etc instead. And you can change to a different tea after having the first one. The sandwiches and pastries are nicely done and very creative. The entire little potted plant is edible! So cute! Service is attentive and pleasant. Very comfortable seating. Relaxing atmosphere. A good respite from a day of visits in the city.
Celebrated my graduation here with my family and close friends. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and they even gave us a complimentary glass of Prosecco each for the special occasion! Would definitely come back and recommend eating here.
Fine dining at its best. Had a lovely birthday dinner here last night. Daniel our waiter was wonderful, friendly, attentive and knowledgable. The food was superb, and delicious. Cannot recommend it enough.
Lovely space. Had to wait awhile for anyone to acknowledge us when we walked into the hotel. The drinks menu could have more on it. Still would come back again ☺️ Update: Went back for a dinner and it was lovely. Very nice waiter and the food was amazing.
I came here today for a spa day and we had a 3 course meal and some drinks in the restaurant area . Would just like to say the service we received from our server Hebrew I think her name was(sorry if wrong ). Was amazing from start until finish . She was polite , attentive, and very pleasant 😊 she went above and beyond for us and made our visit a pleasurable one . She is an asset to the company. Thank you so much. we will definitely be returning again soon .
It's a lovely place for a birthday meal. The food looked amazing and was soo tasty it didn't stay long on the plate. The sharing seafood platter was just full of different and delicious fishy 'how are we going to eat all this ' starter. Everybody's main was met with delicious delight and a couple of cocktails put everyone in the birthday mood! Everyone agreed that the dining experience met with our expectations and more. The restaurant was quieter than expected but not too quiet,
This is a beautiful restaurant in a great building. Very opulent and stylish. However, since they've changed to a seafood only restaurant and closed the bar upstairs, it's noticeably quieter. I was in last Friday night for drinks and the place was dead bar the wedding reception that was going on. It's such a shame as it's a beautiful place with amazing staff and service
Went tonight for anniversary dinner and it was fabulous. Surroundings were stunning and very hipster. My husband and I ate off the market menu. Staff were very attentive and did not overcrowd is but were there just at the right time. Food was delicious, looked beautiful on the plate. Loved it
First visit to the restaurant and Happy to say we will be back the atmosphere was great as the place was busy, the food was fantastic and reasonably priced. Thanks again for a wonderful experience
Visited the bar on Friday night with a friend and Kieran looked after us for drinks. What a lovely young man he was really deserves some recognition. Cocktails were amazing and were not left waiting. Great bar service Thanks Kieran - Sandra and Anna travelling on business.
Stunning building on beautiful regency Square. Classy bistro with Attentive service, a lovely warm welcome. Seasonal menu, exquisite food. If you've a bigger appetite have the starter too, portions are perfect! (not large). 100% recommend.
Food was faultless. We both had the sweetcorn and bacon soup (not my thing really but it tasted good). For main I had fillet steak and my wife had the plaice. Steak was perfection and she said her fish was delicious. The real star of the show was the salted caramel toffee pudding - best pudding I have ever had in my life absolutely phenomenal. I had 2 beers and she had one diet coke. For all that and a side of chips it came to about £90 not cheap but not too bad for a 5 star hotel. Excellent service, nice decor.
Popped in for an impromptu lunch (with my mum). I was expecting a decent meal and decent service….I received both!! However I was blown away by our waiter, Anton. Bear in mind this was unplanned and on a Monday, so the restaurant was pretty quiet. Anton was incredibly attentive and either recognised my dry sense of humour…or had a better one. Top notch banter which is exactly what Glasgow needs and welcomes. I’ll definitely be back with actual friends and not just my mum
Great food and the service was above and beyond. The menu has a variety of popular dishes but is limited, I wasn't complaining. Highly recommend.
Excellent lunch -- perfectly fresh and well sauced Plaice fish, the focaccia was wonderfully springy and well salted, and great service that was very accommodating about my limited time to eat before catching a train.
As someone who runs a restaurant, I'm always keen to experience what others in the industry are doing, and Iasg restaurant and bar truly impressed me. From the delightful breakfast service to the dinner offerings, the food was amazingly delicious. The plaice fish was a standout—perfectly cooked and seasoned, showcasing a real understanding of flavor profiles. The service was top-notch, thanks to servers Mark and Charley, who were attentive and professional, reflecting a well-trained team. The bartenders, Jeff and Leo, crafted some truly outstanding drinks, demonstrating both skill and creativity behind the bar. Overall, this establishment exceeded my expectations. The combination of delicious food, expertly crafted drinks, and impeccable service makes it a must-visit. It's clear that attention to detail and a commitment to quality are at the heart of this operation. Highly recommended! Have fun in Corfu Leo!!
All staff following new guidelines, masks worn all the time, hand sanitizer everywhere and social distancing in force. Staff also prompted other diners to follow the rules... Food was good, menu simple but well executed. Fish and chips were good. Small plates were interesting - chicken terrine was lovely and a generous salmon starter went down well. Cocktails were good, staff happy to go off menu as well. Service was great as usual, happy to recommend
Went here with my partner for our anniversary dinner. It's very nice inside must say. Once sat down we was brought a glass of complimentary champagne as it was our anniversary which was really generous but unfortunately I was driving so couldn't drink it lol the one time I get a free drink and I cant touch it lol. Anyways took a little time to get seen again and because I couldn't drink the champagne meant I was without anything for about 10 mins or so but eventually got our order. The scallops for starter was spot on, very tasty and well cooked. The chicken dish was a tad dry but with the broth and the flavours it all came together nice in the end. The chocolate moose was superb. I would say the prices for certain things perhaps maybe a little over priced but it was good food. Staff friendly and helpful but could do with a tweak on speed of service. Overall really good.
We had booked a 2 course champagne lunch (to use a voucher) only to be told they only served brunch on a Sunday - this was not made clear when I booked. One of the party was vegetarian (advised at the time of booking) and very little choice on the brunch menu for vegetarians although they did adapt a couple of dishes. Not sure we got the value of the voucher due to 'brunch type' dishes - poor dessert selection - again because this was a brunch menu and not a lunch menu
My partner took us here for our Anniversary dinner, it’s beautiful inside. I ordered the soup as a starter which was fine, nothing special in my opinion. The burger was lovely but don’t think it’s worth the £15. Chocolate mousse was very nice. Staff were lovely, gave us both a glass of free champagne as it was a special occasion. Overall it was a lovely restaurant, maybe a little overpriced for some items on the menu but wasn’t too crazy.
Food was great aside from the dessert. Maybe a little fancy for my tastes. Decor was amazing but the dining room lacked atmosphere as its open plan. All in all the mains was delicious and a pleasant experience.
The venue looks great and atmosphere is good. I liked cocktails and meals. Waiters are not at the level they should for this place and they don’t know how to open oysters (smashed by the knife).
Beautiful hotel excellent staff I had drinks here which were fine but the bar lacks atmosphere and panache, the restaurant menu is not enticing, it appears that the chef has been on some avant garde culinary reckie rather than serving dishes that are appealing, edible and will entice clients to the restaurant to dine. When I was there the restaurant was a ghost town due I imagine, to the unusual self indulgent choices of the chef.
Enjoyed an afternoon tea here. They honoured a voucher after the extended expiry date which was good. The afternoon tea was ok, could've done with more sandwiches (only 4 finger sandwiches each) but the cakes were lovely. And we had a few nice cocktails afterwards!
Great breakfast (part of deal with "owning" Blythwood Hotel) but not a large variety for lunch / dinner as I'm not a big seafood lover. Did meet up with family / friends in bar during lead up to family wedding and were well looked after.
Food was delicious, we had 2 courses from the a la carte menu and cocktails. Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable on both food and cocktails and added to our dining experience. Let down was ,salt shaker on table empty, served mussels with no bowl for shells as they had to look for one. These little things along with long waits to order and get drinks, this was not the experience of old in the 5 star Blythswood Hotel, it made them look amateurish. But i will go back as the food was delicious and our waitress was fantastic
Came here today for afternoon tea for an early Mother’s Day. The food was excellent and staff were great. However we had to wait 45 minutes for our afternoon tea after asking the waiter. I don’t know whether it was because we had it is on vouchers or what, but it made the experience rather disappointing .
We were a party of 3, celebrating my Mum's birthday and she enjoyed her visit very much. Everything was great but there were a couple of niggly issues. The restaurant was quite cold. There was a lady sitting at another table with her thick fur jacket on! There were no spoons in the salt or pepper, which meant you had to use your fingers. Given the current covid climate, I opted not to use the salt and pepper, as I didn't know who else had touched it with their hands. There was no steak knife given with the steak and I was half way through my dinner before I was given a spoon. The venison was quie chewy! Other than the niggley issues, the food was good . Service was good and the hotel looks stunning at Christmas.
Booked Iasg for Valentine’s Day dinner and were looking forward to the evening, having previously had very positive experiences at The Blythswood and iasg. On arrival, we were directed upstairs to the bar area without explanation. We later learned that the iasg restaurant was closed for maintenance, and all guests were being seated in the bar upstairs instead. Unfortunately, we hadn’t been informed of this in advance. The bar area has a noticeably different atmosphere to the restaurant, it is dull and a little dated, which wasn’t quite what we had expected for Valentine’s night. Service was slow and disjointed at times. We started with the langoustine special and had asked when ordering if they would be served open (half de-shelled), we were told they would be. When they arrived, they were still fully in their shells and had an unpleasant smell, so we decided to send them back. We also order the yellowtail, which was lovely. For mains, we had the mussels and the burger. Both were really nice. However, it took around 10 minutes for ketchup and mayo to arrive for the burger, and by then the food had cooled. For dessert, we chose the choux bun, which unfortunately wasn’t to our taste. Drinks were good. A 12.5% service charge was added to the bill. We’ve had many great visits in the past, so this experience felt below the usual standard for the venue. While we would return for drinks, we would be hesitant to book again for a special occasion meal based on this visit.
Went there on a Friday afternoon for a couple of drinks after SPA. Looks all bougie and shiny but is all style over substance. All the people who were there for drinks only were crammed in a relatively small area. They had tables next to a wall, so one person sits on the bench along the wall and the other - on a chair opposite them. I'm assuming there were was too much walking around because all the people in pairs were sitting on the bench which made it crammed and uncomfortable. The service was a bunch of teenagers that meant well but were so inefficient. We had to call them every time we needed anything - for the drinks order, to get a receipt, to pay them. They had the cheek to ask for tips. There weren't many people in the bar yet everything was painstakingly slow.
We came for afternoon tea, hoping it would be worth 49£ each but it was mediocre food and even sparkling water cost extra (plus 12.5% tip forced). Recommend going somewhere cheaper.
Went to blyswood for my wifes birthday.was not impressed with service nor the food. My wife ordered linguine with crabs. My wife asked for the chillies to be taken out very few crabs and tons of red peppers which was not on menu. Needless to say she never ate it most went back. We ordered champagne it took ten minutes to arrive both times. As we were leaving a bars manager ask me how we liked the meal i told him wasnt happy. This was 12 june as of tonight have not herd from him was told he was calling this afternoon it is 8pm. Wont be going back. Will be going to Dakota hotel next time.
Won brunch at a raffle at work, food was good but service was not. Waiter was picking their ear, touching their nose and things were very slow all round. We bought some bread, olives and a bottle of prosecco. Bill was 70 odd quid. Would not have been happy if we had paid for the full brunch. Think they must have lots of Wowcher or itison customers so maybe this is why it's not worth the full money they would charge.
The setting looks super pretty and the staff is really nice and attentive. However the food was lower average, we had a buratta which had nothing to do with a real burratta, it was tasteless and chewy. And the cod which was way too salty. Surprisingly the fish was served with miniature pieces of chicken which were delicious. Also deserts were good: the caramel with banana was excellent and the lemon tart great. Overall quite disappointed but not a complete disaster. Maybe the chef had a bad day or the guy who supplies the food was off... I don’t know.
I dined here recently and the service was truly disappointing. The waiter spent most of his time chatting to customers which meant we were waiting on parts of our order on several occasions throughout the meal. We had to remind them twice that we ordered drinks and coffee and our starter plates were not cleared before our mains were served. The table was not cleared at the end of our meal either and the waiter consistently interrupted conversations and was extremely loud. It was a truly uncomfortable experience and I was extremely disappointed given its reputation and that the restaurant is fine dining. You could tell other customers were uncomfortable with his approach.
RUDE. RUDE. RUDE bar staff and bartender. Friend came from Ireland so took her to a "top" hotel with a lovely bar... and that's where it stopped. Bartender didn't even crack a smile. Was indifferent and bored. Wouldn't make the drink we wanted. Reluctantly made the drinks on the menu, which cost 14 quid each. Bad experience and horrible service!
Terrible service. We waited nearly an hour for a table, and even longer for food and drinks, which were often forgotten or left standing at the bar. Staff seemed disorganized and uninterested, rarely clearing our table or checking in. We tried again for afternoon tea the next day — same chaos. Easily the worst service we had during our two-week trip through Scotland.
Dined Monday evening. Service slow. Food was tasty but not worth prices. Ordered desserts took 25 minutes to arrive. Friend got well was supposed to be pavlova. A small meringue sitting on dollop of cream. On finishing our meal we went straight to bar area. No acknowledgement staff all flustered. One barman to deal with all areas. Finally got served 20minutes later but drinks came 15 minutes after that. Others sitting around bar made point of poor service. I went to reception to ask the duty manager to arrive to sort out. All apologetic but it's a 5 star hotel poor poor poor Kieran was so apologetic he was under a lot of strain on his own. I found out that they cancelled a bar man due to hotel being quiet. Restaurant was well busy coach party and other guest going to Edinburgh tattoo staying at hotel.
Went for lunch to celebrate our engagement using a gift voucher from friends. Waited at the front of the restaurant for 10 minutes before being acknowledged and shown to our table. Waited a further 15 minutes for our drinks order to be taken and 10 minutes for our drinks to arrive. An hour after arriving our food was brought to the table. Food was overpriced and of poor quality. Venison was tough, fish was almost cold, portions were very small. Bill was incorrect, did not include our voucher which was given on arrival. 12.5% service charge automatically applied to our bill with an option for further gratuity. On booking we were asked why we were dining there, we advised it was a special occasion. Absolutely no acknowledgement of this during our visit.
WOW!!!! A restaurant in a 5 star hotel, charging 5 star prices but certainly not 5 star service. The initial greeting was nice and then that was it. Waited 20 minutes for bread as a starter, after asking politely about it we were just told oh it goes in the oven to heat up. I think you could cook a loaf from scratch in that time. Another 15 minutes went by clearly before anybody checked at which point we were told it was on its way. By this stage our mains were due so opted not to take it, couple of seconds later it was still brought out and not our mains, again we declined. When our mains then arrived 45mins after ordering we waited another 5 minutes for the side of chips to come and the food really isn't so good that it can make up for the poor service. Not once we're we asked for a top up of water or drinks just very much forgotten about. I now understand why the service charge is automatic on the bill because leaving a gratitude is unlikely to happen. For the prices there are far better choices in Glasgow to choose.
