Met a friend for lunch and can’t say enough about this place. The food was amazing and our server was so attentive and friendly. I can’t remember her name (so sorry!) but she was new and did a great job. Will be bringing friends and family here, for sure.
We had a wonderful dinner experience at Blue Nile tonight. Mar was our server and she was spectacular! She walked us through the menu and made our coffee. We ordered before our party arrived and unfortunately they were even later than expected. Mar and staff brought us a coiled cover for our meals that kept it hot till everyone arrived. Our guests from Alabama had not tried Ethiopian food before and were impressed. We visit often and always have wonderful experiences and delicious food.
It was a great experience dining here and enjoying flavoured Ethiopian traditional food. From the moment I walked in, I loved the interior design — it was calm, warm, and beautifully done, creating a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere.
I recently dined at Blue Nile and had one of the best restaurant experiences in a long time, thanks largely to my waitress-Mare. From the moment I was seated, she greeted me with a warm smile and a genuinely welcoming attitude. Mare was knowledgeable about the menu and gave helpful recommendations when I couldn’t decide. She checked in at just the right times—never intrusive, but always attentive. she made sure my food came out correctly on time. The dishes were exceptionally delicious and authentic. The Injera was made of 100% Teff which is gluten free and exceptionally nutrient dense. The restaurant has relaxed ambience and great cultural art works/artifacts. I will be definitely going back!!
This dining experience changed my life. The cuisine was exquisite and our server, Mar, was very knowledgeable about the items on the menu and gave excellent recommendations on vegetarian dishes as well. Tne jazz music, the fireplace, and Mar's excellent attention to detail contributed to an atmosphere that will definitely have me coming back. Try the Yefisik Beyayinetu. You won't be disappointed. LeTenachin!
I absolutely love eating at this restaurant! The ambiance is beautiful and welcoming, the customer service is excellent, and the location is very accessible. The Ethiopian cuisine is delicious and full of flavor. Most importantly, they serve authentic teff injera( upon request), which is not always easy to find. Every visit is a wonderful experience. Highly recommend!
Very nice ambience and a great experience. The food was so delicious. Mekdes was super professional and very attentive. As it was our first time in blue nile, she helped lot with her awesome suggestions from the menu. Pistachio cake and Ethiopian honey wine are must-tries. Definitely will come back.
Mekdes made my experience unforgettable with her exceptional care and hospitality. She is kind, attentive, and truly invested in ensuring you have a wonderful time. Food was good too😊
Pros: interesting menu, delicious food, great ambiance, great service Cons: not much parking, a tad bit pricy (but worth it) If you want good Ethiopian food in Houston, this is the place! It's a hidden gem, but worth checking out! It's a little on the expensive side, but totally worth it. I would recommend this place for special events, such as a really special date or wedding anniversary. And you don't need reservations. I recommend any of their savory food (trust me--it's all great!), and any of the desserts that are freshly made the day you're visiting; if you ask for any of the other desserts, they'll have to pull them out of the freezer and the flavor will be... passible, but not as good. I'll have to come back for their coffee ceremony at some point!
We could not have asked for a better catering team than Blue Nile Ethiopian Restaurant for our wedding! The food was absolutely incredible — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Our guests are still talking about how delicious everything was, and for many it was their first experience with Ethiopian cuisine, which made it even more special and memorable. But what truly stood out was the staff. Yanelly Cueto, Zee, Karen, Elsi, Pedro, Martha, Esteban, Ian, Renata, Tiffany, and Cristal went above and beyond to make sure every guest was taken care of. They were professional, attentive, and so warm in their service — it felt like they were celebrating with us, not just working behind the scenes. Every detail was handled with care, and their teamwork made the dining experience seamless and enjoyable for everyone. Blue Nile not only delivered incredible food, but also brought an energy and hospitality that made our day shine even brighter. We are beyond grateful to Yanelly and the entire team for helping make our wedding unforgettable. If you are looking for amazing food paired with exceptional service, look no further — Blue Nile is the one!
Good place entree portions are generous, too big to finish you'll need a to go plate. Healthy food. When talking to the waitress about other Ethiopian restaurants in Houston she was very gracious and had a positive attitude about other locations and didn't have anything ugly to say and that was very professional of her and she really gave a great service and had a nice vibe. I liked very much how she didn't have a negative attitude about other places and was very complimentary of them. It shows a good example of how businesses in the same industry should treat each other because there is an interest for businesses to promote excellence amongst each other and this place handles that very well. Ethiopian food in Houston is represented great by this place and their people.
I took my sister to Blue Nile for her birthday. She absolutely loved it! Our waitress, Yeala, was so good to us. She explained the menu in detail and answered an abundance of questions with enthusiasm, patience, and kindness. It was nice meeting the owner too (very sweet woman). Simply put, Blue Nile has great energy and great food. All of the guests were in awe of the food (and coffee)!
This was my first time trying Ethiopian food, but I had two people in my party that had before. Not very busy at all and the service was excellent. The food came out quickly as well. The picture posted is of the vegetarian combo platter and the center dish is Doro Wot. I truly enjoyed my experience
Blue Nile: An Authentic Ethiopian Gem ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was my first time trying Ethiopian cuisine in Houston, and Blue Nile exceeded all expectations! The food was incredibly flavorful and authentic. We shared chicken and yemisir wot with injera, and every bite was a delight. The chicken was tender and perfectly spiced, while the wot had a rich, complex flavor that left me wanting more. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with traditional Ethiopian decor and soft lighting that created a cozy atmosphere. The service was friendly and attentive, with our server taking the time to explain the menu and offer recommendations. Plus had authentic Ethiopian coffee and it was excellent!! I highly recommend Blue Nile to anyone looking for a unique and delicious dining experience. The food, atmosphere, and service are all top-notch, and I can't wait to go back!
The food was amazing! The dishes are very authentic and flavorful! I also got the pistachio cake dessert and I have to say hands down it was the best I’ve had! Wasn’t too sweet! The baklava was pretty good. We also did the coffee ceremony, the coffee was so fresh and bold, a nice experience!
I know what authentic Ethiopian food tastes like, and this has been the first time that an American restaurant has captured it for me. The food is worth every buck. The hosts are great, and the atmosphere as well. I carried enough food home to last for two days. You get great quantity, which is a plus for me. I will be back.
It was my first time trying African food and I loved it! I had the vegetarian sampler. Everything I tried was very flavorful and well seasoned. The atmosphere was inviting and the wait staff was very hospitable. My favorites were the cabbage and the Ethiopian honey wine. I plan to go back very soon.

This was my first time trying Ethiopian food, only because my friend took me per my request. This place had just opened for lunch so it was only a few of us. I was able to get a good glance at everyone's food and every single dish looked very appetizing. The food (don't ask me about the names, lol) was very flavorful and just the right amount of heat and spices, and the assortment of vegetables, meat and lentils was perfect. This food is very close to Mediterranean food so it was a very familiar taste and experience. Overall - I would definitely go again and try the Lamb next time!
I tried this restaurant with my foodie group. We were a group of 9. We arrived when the restaurant first opened. We were the only ones there. The restaurant was clean, and the servers were friendly. The restaurant is cute. It is decorated with traditional Ethiopian decor/items. 6 of us ordered the family platter, which serves 4-6 people. There was plenty for us all to try. The food was good. It was flavorful. We went in blindly as the server didn't tell us what we were eating and disappeared right after serving. After lunch, we ordered coffee, tea, and pistachio cake. The cake was light and had a nice almond type cream incorporated with the pistachio flavor. The cake portion was a little dry. The food was served with a sponge bread that reminded us of sourdough bread. We enjoyed eating this with our food. Our experience was enjoyable.
Ordered a veggie platter. Gomen was burnt. Misor Wot was dry and consistency of a thick paste. The shiro was ok and the potatoes and green beans were ok. The cabbage was also ok. Seems like they were…

We have been visiting Blue Nile since 2017, we loved the food here and the atmosphere which is usually quiet and elegant. Today, however, will be our last time visiting - we simply can't justify the amount of money being charged for the food/drinks. They charged us 5 dollars for 1 CAN of coke (and no refills). I understand restaurants are already operating on a small margin, and smaller mom and pop restaurants have even a smaller margin at times. I understand that price in food may go up, especially year over year, and we don't mind paying for good food. And pay we did, because when looked at our bill for lunch we had sticker shock, it was over 68+ dollars for lunch. We got the veggie combo and the meat combo, the same combo we've ordered for years. Plus tax and tip and it was well over 80 dollars for lunch. The last time we went earlier this year I could have sworn it was closer to 50 dollars total. Also, they didn't serve us the cabbage that's in the picture from earlier this year - so we got one less item. The restaurant didn't have their AC on today and the ceiling fans were broken according to our waitress. So it was warmer than normal inside and she wasn't allowed to turn on the AC. The service was nice enough, but nothing stood out. They're getting 2 stars for the memories and the food which was still very good, but we won't be back.
Ordered via Uber and never received food. Tried to call their number and it's a non working number. Concerned there may be some dishonest practices going on between restaurant and Uber
Place made me hate Ethiopia. Bad music, terrible slow dragging service, bad everything 0/10

The food lacked seasoning. Not just the chicken tibs but also the fish tibs, lamb tibs, and fried fish. They charged $5 for a can of Sprite. The gentleman who served our beverages was very kind and attentive. We spent almost $200 on food most of us didn’t touch.
