Absolutely love this seafood place, part of one of Houston's best chains. The fish is always very well cooked, and great fish itself. The red beans and oysters (whether fried in a po' boy or fresh by the dozen) are definitely not to miss, as well as campechana. The atmosphere is great, with fish models on the walls and nice tables, not to mention that this restaurant is actually IN A TRAIN CAR. The servers are absolutely great, and super polite and attentive. My most recent server, Kevin, was absolutely great and very friendly. Special shout out to him for doing great work!
After a long day these bar bites at Happy Hour prices with a side Stuffed Laguna Shrimp hit the spot!
First time eating here as a recommendation from family. Service was fast and food was high quality. I had the shrimp and catfish po boy with the seasonal veggie and was nicely cooked and fresh. A bit pricey but well worth it.
Our Family Favorite Seafood Restaurant for almost 30 years, Highest Recommendation!!! We have been to Goode Co. Seafood and BBQ for more than half century! Always fresh, authentic, and the best service (Zaccary!). The Campachana Extra is “out of this world”! We’ve tried it in Texas, Florida, Mexico, etc and no one could compete Goode Co. Seafood! The grilled salmon is made to perfection!! Ettoufee, empanadas, stone crab, fried seafood, you name it, everything is great here. The old train atmosphere is unique. We always bring international and out of town friends to dine here and everyone is impressed and dreamed of coming back to visit us and the restaurant! Thanks for all great food and your passion to keep this going for us, Texan and our guests to enjoy!
This is the only place on Houston that does the mesquite grilled oysters properly!! This is the only place i go to to get them!! Iv'e been here several times and never did a review but since iI'm going tonight I thought I'd chime in with my 2 cents.... If you looking for a romantic night out that's intimate this not the spot for you. Maybe Warehouse 72 would be a better fit for you.
Hayden was our server. He did an excellent job and even recognized a special occasion with us. Food was great! Fun atmosphere didn't seem stuffy. Good prices.
My first Houston seafood dinner was last night at Captain Benny's. I thought they were pretty good. But then for lunch today I tried Goode Company. Everything was a notch above. Seafood Gumbo was thicker and more stocked with crab and shrimp. The oysters were slightly above in quality, but Goode Company nailed the presentation. Including some bread to sop up any leftover sauce. (And not with horseradish and cocktail sauce which don't belong on a grilled oyster plate). Goode Company's Redfish was tasty and tender and a winner. Would come back and recommend. The big room (not on the railroad car side) is pretty non-descript. Service was very good.
Loved this restaurant and it had been on my bucket list for some time. It did not disappoint! Our waiter was excellent providing insights on the menu, making recommendations and even providing a history lesson on the Goode Company restaurants. Food was excellent with a special shout-out to the stuffed flounder.
I came in with my 90-year old mother. A waitress saw us coming and held the door open for her as she climbed the stairs. Nobody told her to. She just did it. So gracious. Our waitress was so nice and knew her business and knew the food. My mom loved her bisque, and she is not a pushover. Then as we got up, a young man was waiting at the door to help mom out. He went all the way down the stairs with her. So impressive to see this kind of attentiveness, especially. Our food was terrific, but these kindnesses are what I want to make sure the managers and owners know is happening. It’s almost a shock!
I absolutely love this restaurant and consider it a real treat every single time I come here, and I have been coming here since 1997. Every time I come,‘I always walk away extremely satisfied. My favorite thing to do is to ask them what sort of creative options I have for adding fish to their world famous Po Boy sandwiches. Depending on what time of the year you go, I will ask for flounder. But on this day, they were out of flounder but were able to offer me Red Snapper instead since it was in season. As I always do, I had them mesquite grill it. It was ABSOLUTELY delicious. Loved it. The portion was huge and it was one of the best meals I ever had there. As for my daughter, she is not a huge fish fan, so she picked the Damn Goode Burger and she loved it. It ended up being a huge win/win for all of us.
We were in the area overnight and needed to hit a seafood joint. Lots of places in the area but we were grossly under dressed for many of them. We found Goode and had a great meal at a casual dining place. So much on the menu sounded good and I couldn't try it all. I was Sad. Our Waiter was spot on. Recommended some solid options and, quite possibly, some cheat codes for the menu. Really happy with the entire visit.
I went on a 1st date and the food and company were amazing! We will definitely be going again. THUMBS UP!

My family loves going to Goode Company seafood! The oysters are as good as it gets. For an appetizer get the Campechana. You can't go wrong at Goode!

Casual, friendly place in a quirky rail car with a long counter, which was great for solo dining and drinking. Food and drinks were good with some discounts during happy hour. I'll be back.
Cool location and good seafood. Service and atmosphere: This is very cool looking restaurant with part of it looking like a train wagon. The inside was spacious, clean, well organised and decorated. Ask for a table in the train wagon area which also includes full bar. The service staff were friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Food and drinks: They offer very good selection of various foods. You can opt for grilled, fried and fresh seafood. You can order soups, salads, and variety of plates. All dishes were well presented, made with fresh ingredients. Good seasonings and taste. I recommend the shrimp and lobster cocktail and fried green tomatoes for starters. The restaurant serves many alcoholic beverages too. Pricing: $$/$ -two people dinner with starter, mains, and three drinks came to around $130.
I just need to be better at ordering here maybe. The redfish beignets were incredibly misleading. They were just fried pieces of fish. Still good, but don't call it that. I ordered the flounder special and it was okay, but my father ordered the grilled oysters and my daughter ordered the crab fettuccine and it was also great. My meal wasn't especially good but I think it was my fault. The service was impeccable. My biggest complaint was that I could smell the grease trap in every part of the restaurant. Honestly the whole place smelled foul. Not appetizing when eating seafood. I'll come back because I have fond memories of it as a kid, but please for the love of God, get your grease trap serviced more and put some pleasant scent in your mop water or something. It's impossible for me to imagine that nobody working there has noticed the smell.
Waitress Annie was great. Food was excellent. Broiled oysters were spot on. Gumbo delicious. Grilled yellowfin tuna superb with just the right mesquite smoke flavor. Even the green beans and new potato medley was good. And the onion ring? Super!!!! I highly recommend this restaurant.
I’ve been here a few times but never left a review. I’m a seafood lover and love their fried seafood options. They have some of THE BEST Tartar SAUCE Ive ever had. I also really enjoy their fried green tomatoes. I wish they fried their catfish fillets whole instead of cutting them up but overall it’s delicious. This drink was a No for me. It was strong but the olive was throwing me off. It wasn’t a dirty martini I think they called it the Mexican margarita
Finally visited this place for the first time and enjoyed it! Was looking for some chargrilled oysters 🦪 and found them here! They were good! Limited seating at the time so we sat at the bar and enjoyed the atmosphere, food, and drinks. Casual dressed! No cut offs etc. Older group of people and we liked it!
This place has a cool train exterior with a charming, diner-like feel inside. Upon arrival, guests are seated promptly, and the staff is friendly, providing attentive and efficient service. The overall atmosphere is casual and welcoming, but crowded seats in the main room. The entree were pretty good, with several dishes standing out. The BBQ chicken and salmon are particularly well-prepared; both are moist, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, avoiding the dryness that often comes with these dishes. The étouffée is also a solid choice, offering a rich and satisfying taste. The kids' menu provides good value for money, featuring a variety of options for just $9 with catfish and shrimp options, which is great for families. The fries are a must-try, crispy and well-seasoned, adding a perfect side to the main dishes. However, the oysters fall short of expectations. They are disappointingly small in size, especially considering the price, and there are other restaurants in Houston that offer larger, higher-quality oysters for the same cost. While this place is a great option for casual dining with a broad menu and well-executed dishes, those looking specifically for great oysters might be better off exploring other options in the city. Overall, it’s a good place for a relaxed meal with decent food, but the oysters don't quite live up to the standard set by the rest of the menu.

I’ll be candid but fair. This is a place worth visiting once, though I wouldn’t feel entirely confident recommending it. In my opinion, it’s somewhat overrated. I was seated at a table in front of the bar, where the employees’ conversations were quite loud and distracting. One petite staff member, in particular, spoke very loudly throughout my meal. The dish I ordered (Mesquite Skewer) was acceptable in flavor but surprisingly small for the $32 listed on the menu. On a positive note, my server (Monicca) was polite and attentive. Overall, I’d suggest exploring other restaurants in the area for seafood.
David S was worth his weight in gold! Excellent service. Very knowledgeable about the food and he sold it with a smile. The campechana was my favorite. The fried green tomatoes were cooked perfectly but lacked seasoning. I had the special mesquite grilled redfish topped with a shrimp sauce. He said it was “lightly” seasoned and that was certainly true. It was otherwise ok. Everyone who ordered the crabmeat fettuccine was without complaint. We also ordered Laguna Madre and I was told the sauce is what made the difference for that plate. It was an experience for sure. Definitely a senior crowd but nice atmosphere.
The food is always good. The hush puppies are the best anywhere. The drinks seem off. The first drink is really weak. The second drink has a normal amount of liquor. It takes away from the experi…
If you want real seafood but not the best prices compared to others is over priced ... I would not go back again not that much flavor
Great atmosphere, service; stupendous shrimp/crab appetizer and empanada, some of the fish in the kebab skewer entree was not cooked through, scary in a seafood restaurant. Might be safer to stick…
My husband and I were given a gift certificate by a family member to dine here. The restaurant has a classic 1950s feel, with chrome-framed seats and tables surrounding an open bar area, along with circular booths lining the outer wall. The space feels pleasant, open, and inviting, allowing patrons to easily look around and enjoy the atmosphere. The menu offers a rich variety of options, from sandwiches and salads to pasta entrées. My husband ordered the shrimp wrapped in bacon, and I chose the pasta with crab meat. Both dishes were delicious and well prepared. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food or the ambiance. Our waiter was neither friendly nor professional. In fact, we were left with the strong impression that his behavior toward us was homophobic. The usual pleasantries one expects from a server were absent. After our meals were served, he never returned to check whether everything was satisfactory. What made the situation more noticeable was that we were seated between two other groups, and he made a clear effort to check on them and ensure they were satisfied. It’s disappointing when an owner clearly invests so much effort into creating a welcoming environment and serving excellent food, yet does not invest the same care into training staff to treat all guests with respect and professionalism. Sadly, the experience left us not wanting to return or recommend the restaurant to friends.
Updated Review – Goode Company Seafood ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½ (4.5 stars) We went to Goode Company Seafood on Mother’s Day, and honestly, it wasn’t a good experience—food was off, and it didn’t meet expectations. I gave them 2 stars at the time. But credit where it’s due: I went back the following week, and they completely turned it around. The food was fresh, flavorful, and a huge improvement from the week before. True to their word, they made it right. If you’re thinking about going, I say give them a shot. And if something’s not right, don’t be afraid to speak up—they’ll take care of you. I’d definitely recommend Goode Company Seafood.

What happpened to this place it used to be so good? Unfortunately the staff isn't trained very well and was very rude. So spend your money somewhere else that's deserving of your time.

They left to sit at the bar at no service. They're always out of the baked potato and low quality on food they're so super busy in there
That was a waste of money! The tiny fried shrimp stunk. The shrimp roll was tasteless. Fried tomatoes were good. Onion rings were good. The grilled catfish po boy was mediocre.
