The only reason I’m giving the atmosphere a 4/5 stars is bc of the questionable location (I kind of like it) but many would not. I think everything else about this spot is absolutely perfect!
Great local bar in a swanky industrial chic old warehouse. Lots of cocktails and good beer. The porterhouse Manhattan was gross, but they did not charge me when I sent it back. Good diversity on the taplist and bottles. Not a lot of choices for food, but some higher end pub grub. The iceberg wedge actually beats the burger (surprising as that may seem). Liked it.
Had my first date with my now fiancé at this fabulous cocktail bar. Decided to ask for her hand there as well! Thank you to the wonderful staff for helping with the logistics ! Special shout out to Jordan for making the day run smooth and for allowing our families to hang in the game room.
Fun time with friends. Porchlight always makes exceeds expectations. We sat and immediately were greeted by our server. Promptly took our drinks order, our server also recommended drinks that were popular and those drinks did not disappoint. Afterward, we ordered some food, I ordered the chips and salsa, street corn croquettes, and sliders to start. Every single dish was delicious. As the night went along, and it got a little crowded, service lagged a bit. Overall experience was incredible, we will be back soon. Thank you for everything.
I really like this spot. Great mix of people. The food is amazing & drinks are equally tasty. They made the best pornstar martini. The bartenders are super chill! They also have chargers right under the bar table which is convenient. There’s also a large back room for events. Thanks a lot for a great time! I’ll be back!
As a longtime fan of Danny Meyer's restaurants, Porchlight has been a consistent favorite of mine for years. I've gone back and forth between giving it four or five stars, but the overall experience always brings me back to five. Being a Texas transplant in NYC, the Southern-inspired theme really warms my heart and provides a welcome touch of home. The real highlight, however, is the cocktail menu. It's practically a book, filled with creative and delicious options that can satisfy any preference. It's a fantastic spot to bring friends, especially since the menu is remarkably gluten-friendly, which one of my close friends greatly appreciates. The only reason for my hesitation is the service during peak hours. If you visit right after work or on a weekend night, the bar can get backed up, and it becomes quite difficult to get a server's attention. The service is otherwise fantastic, but it's something to keep in mind if you're hoping to stop in for a quick pre-dinner drink—it might take longer than you anticipate. That one caveat aside, this place is a gem. For its wonderful atmosphere, stellar drinks, and thoughtful menu, it absolutely earns its five stars.
Porchlight is the perfect blend of Southern comfort and NYC cool, with cozy booths and a back game room that adds to its laid-back vibe. The cocktails are the real star here—creative and potent with a Southern twist. While the food is more snacky than full-on meals, the sugar & spice popcorn and burger are definitely worth trying. It can get a bit crowded and loud, but the friendly service and relaxed atmosphere make it worth a visit.
Happy Hour was fantastic. Although the menu is limited for happy hour, overall menu is really great. Really enjoyed the service received at the bar. It was surprisingly packed and the atmosphere was wonderful with people spending time with their colleagues, friends etc. I really enjoyed how the bartenders made the drinks, it made me feel like I was witnessing mixology bartending. Definitely felt the drinks were crafted with such care. I cannot remember the name of the bartender that serviced is, but she was wonderful and knowledgeable.
Had an incredible night at Porchlight. The team was so attentive and friendly (even letting us sit 15 minutes before our reservation), and the drinks and food were tremendous (especially their holiday menu of drinks!). I was also deeply impressed at the service given that there were a ton of Xmas celebrations parties happening concurrently. Really enjoyed Porchlight and would absolutely go back for cocktails and bites/meals.
FOOD/DRINK: 1.) Collard Greens & Cheese Dip = Came with toasted baguette & tortilla chips. Yummmm tasted kind of like spinach cheese dip 2.) Fried chicken sliders = Pretty yummy as well! I appreciate that they had a pretty wide cocktail drink menu. And a variety of virgin cocktails aka "free-spirited" drinks. SERVICE: Really great. Always checking in and refilling your water from the pitcher on the table when you can fill it yourself. ATMOSPHERE: Mondays for the live music is the best. I'm surprised it wasn't busier, I guess it's still a well kept secret. I like that even though there's live music, you can still have a conversation while you enjoy your food and drinks. And the music was a calm folksy guitar and vocalist trio, and it matched the overall vibe of the place. I like the feel of the place in general too, with the rustic and soft lighting. They have random boardgames available too to play, so definitely wouldn't mind bookmarking this in my mind for a future hangout spot. Also looking at the maps now, I'm realizing how close it is to Vessel, which would be a nice place to stop by next time. Or if you want to walk closer to the pier for a waterfront stroll.
Delicious light bites and a great selection of cocktails to suit any group. Happy hour until 7pm. Super friendly and helpful staff. Make a reservation from Thursday to Saturday since it gets busy. Would recommend the mint Julep ($11 on happy hour) and the punch flask ($5 on happy hour).
I really enjoyed this place! From the outside it looks like a warehouse but once you get inside there is a rustic feeling to this cute bar/ restaurant. I order a mojito and nachos because I was so hungry after seeing sleep no more a block away. We came in and I had no expectations for the food. I loved the nachos, it has a Smokey cheese and chilly on it with a few veggies. It was really beautifully arranged on the plate. I had expected a mess like they do in other place but it was so pretty I wanted a photo. The mojito was also great. They had places to sit so you felt like you were in a home, bar, or restaurant if you wanted to be. You can pick what area suits you.
The Happy Hour is AWESOME here… even on Saturdays 💪🏻 and all day on Sunday !!! Try the daiquiri!! The food is just alright and the options are limited, however, the service was great and the outdoor sitting area is perfect for people watching !! I will definitely come back and try again !
This was such a cute spot! I loved the theme and how thoughtfully they carried it throughout the space. It really made for a fun atmosphere. It’s the kind of place that feels cool, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the moment. The food itself was decent, and the prices seemed fair for the area. While it might not be somewhere I’d go just for the food, it’s definitely a spot I’d return to for the overall experience. I could easily see myself coming back with a group of friends to hang out, share some laughs, and enjoy a few drinks. It’s one of those places that just works well for catching up and making memories. I'm looking forward to visiting again at some point.
Cool spot, even though currently there is some road work going on outside or something (just makes it look a little less welcoming). Got in early in the day, but just in time for the happy hour, to get off my feet and grab a drink. Order a mint julep, nachos and beer from the hh menu. Everything was okay, NY prices being NY prices, but the cocktail. I was pulling air for 30 sec out of a straw sticking out of a cup of ice, wondering whether they just forgot to put the drink into it. Eventually moved the straw around.. so I got a good 4-5 solid sips out of it before "the drink is done" sound. If you're going to serve a shot glass worth of drink in a cup of ice to save money, just take the cocktails off your happy hour menu. Otherwise the place is worth checking out.
This was the first time going with my significant other. Let’s start with the services . There could have been more waiters. As far as serving water, it came lukewarm in a jug. Two glasses with no ice. It should have came with ice. Now let’s start with the food, The sliders were very well seasoned. However, the meat Could have been a little thicker and also cooked medium well . There was more bun than meat. Let’s start with the french fries. They were undercooked. The majority of the french fries were not done. I didn’t want to send the food back because I do not want to risk anyone playing with my food. The five dollar punch drink was amazing ! And last, but not least everyone loves a good Buffalo wing. When I asked the waiter, did they serve wings, He replied no because it was more of a Cajunspot. In New Orleans, what do you think they are known for? PoBoys, Dirty rice, Gumbo, And last, but not least Cajun fried chicken ! When you go to a bar, the first thing you expect is having a wing with fries and a drink. I feel like they need to add wings to the menu. Overall, the atmosphere was nice. And the music they were playing was current and up-to-date. If you get some wings in there, you will be the best bar ever.
I had a decent but costly time the couple of visits I've had. Food portions are paltry for the price and one member of my party got sick off their grilled cheese. A little hard to get service but overall fine for an after work drink.
Granted, this was the first bar/restaurant that I visited where gratuity was included but I must say the service was scattered. Once I was seated I was greeted by a server who took my order, but after 10 minutes had passed, another server checked in on us and promised to look into the wait. Subsequently yet ANOTHER server provided us with our drinks. About 10 additional minutes passed before the second server checked in -promised to look into the wait AGAIN. When the food finally arrived it was lukewarm at best. For the prices and neighborhood, I expected a much better experience. Attached are the order of biscuits and the clams which were soooo small
