I ate in here twice whilst in town with my two teenage kids. First time food was average, although in fairness we had Burgers and Risotto. We gave it another go and my son and i shared the Tomahawk and my Daughter had Filet. The food was super and cooked to perfection. Sides of Gratin, Mac n Cheese and mixed salad with Feta were also right on the money. The guy serving was also on top form so we had a great night and would defo return
The Local completely lived up to the hype. I went for the burger (honestly one of the best I’ve ever had) while my wife tried the Buffalo Wellington — rich, tender, and full of flavor. We paired them with a couple of creative cocktails that hit the spot after a day exploring town. The atmosphere feels upscale but still relaxed and welcoming. If we had more time in Jackson, we’d 100% go back for round two.
Very good restaurant, definitely on the fancier side. Sides are $10 a piece but me and my fiancé were able to share! They’re mashed potatoes the best mashed potatoes I’ve ever had including the truffle mac and cheese! We went twice will we were staying in Jackson Hole! First night we got steak(ribeye) amazing! The next night I got a filet migon and my fiancé got the elk. He said the elk was very well seasoned and very tasteful!
This is a local favorite restaurant. It came highly recommended by so many locals that we asked. The food was great and they were able to customize our salad the way we asked. We really enjoyed all the food.
Local is hands down one of the best dining experiences you’ll find in Jackson Hole. From start to finish, everything about our evening here was outstanding. The service is what really sets this place apart. Our server Alexi was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. They made great recommendations, kept our drinks filled, and anticipated what we needed without hovering. It felt like we were really being taken care of, which made the evening that much more enjoyable. The food was phenomenal—easily some of the best we’ve had in Jackson. The Philly cheesesteak was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced, while the burger was juicy, cooked just right, and packed with fresh toppings. The rainbow trout was another standout—light, fresh, and beautifully prepared, really showcasing the quality of local ingredients. The cocktails were creative and well-balanced, and the wine list had plenty of great pairings. The atmosphere at Local strikes a perfect balance: elevated enough to feel like a special night out, but still relaxed and comfortable. It’s lively without being too loud, and you can dress up or keep it casual and feel right at home. One important tip—you’ll definitely want to make reservations. This spot is popular for good reason, and it fills up quickly. Overall, Local delivers on every level: incredible service, top-notch food, and a warm, welcoming vibe. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again.
We we up to try every Bison variation and this was the best choice in the area. From raw to dry aged- every dish was delightful, freshly made, and nicely served. The service was too slow and not really attentive. But food came up quickly. Thanks for the kitchen, the experience came up joyful anyway. We were desperate to try seasonal Basque cheesecake, but unfortunately, it wasn't the best, salty Philadelphia cheese rounded the taste. But Berry's on top was beyond delicious.
My wife and I visited mid week for dinner, we’d tried to get a table the night before but had failed so had booked for the next day. I’m glad we did! Drinks and the service were lovely but the food was even better. My wife had the crab cab to start, which was beautifully seasoned and served on super lemony salad leaf and I had the Bisson Tartare, which was lovely. Then on to the main course, we shared the US Wagu ribeye, fries and wild mushrooms. Everything was cooked to our liking and beautifully seasoned. Overall, excellent! We’d visit again in a heartbeat.
This was hands down the best meal we had during our time in Jackson! The Buffalo Wellington was pure perfection—tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. My husband hasn’t stopped raving about his bison ribeye, which was cooked and seasoned to absolute perfection. The steaks were spot-on, and we were really impressed by the wide selection of entrees and sides—there was something for everyone. The quality and care put into every dish really stood out. We can’t wait to come back the next time we’re in town!
This was honestly one of the best meals of my life. My wife and I had the new york strip, angus ribeye, and wild mushrooms. Perfectly cooked medium rare, wonderful fat content, nice char. Wild mushrooms were something out of this world, able to stand up all on its own. I had two Wyoming whiskey pours, the Local's private stock and the double cask (Sherry Finish). If you enjoy whiskey, I highly recommend these. For dessert we had the brownie and scoop of vanilla ice cream. It had a caramel incorporated in it and this dessert was just a symphony of flavors working together, none out shining the other. Just a masterpiece. Our waitress gave us amazing recommendations. We had our 3 year old with us and they were so great with accommodations. Coloring menu and crayons included. Our child had the butter parm pasta which she really enjoyed (as did I!). Highly recommend!
We ate here twice during our trip to Jackson, once for lunch and once for dinner. For lunch, we sat at the bar and had a truly exceptional experience. The bartender made us “surprise” drinks based on our feedback and made great suggestions. He was super personable and we really enjoyed dining with him. The bone marrow was the best I’ve had in years. Great flavor and truly decadent. The oysters were flavorful and fresh. Even the truffle fries were absolutely delicious. For dinner a few nights later, I tried the elk t-bone and my husband had the monkfish special. Both entrees were delicious and executed nicely. It is a little noisy in there on a Friday night, so if you’re looking for a quiet dinner, this may not be your place. We’ll certainly visit again next time we’re in Jackson.
We had a perfect dinner at The Local. On our western vacation, I wanted a place to try game meat and after a lot of research picked this restaurant. So glad we did! Make reservations in advance - it books up fast and you definitely want to get a table here! Give yourself time to savor the meal too - this is not a place to visit in a rush. Our server was wonderful, helpful and well informed. It's an upscale restaurant but it did not feel pretentious. Nothing worse than getting talked down to by a waiter but I never got that impression here. I had considered getting the wild game sampler platter but market price when we went in June 2025 was $350 (in case you were curious!) and that was a bit much for us. Instead, we tried a few of the entrees that included the game. We had buffalo tartare as an appetizer and ordered the buffalo Wellington, buffalo bolognese and elk T-bone steak with a side game sausage and shared the plates among four people. For sides, we did the mashed potatoes, truffle mac and cheese, Brussels sprouts and elote salad. Everything was delicious. The buffalo tartare is so creamy and well seasoned and I could have licked the plate. Buffalo Bolognese is delicious. Loved the noodles as well as the sauce. The game sausage was fine but I probably wouldn't order it again - it was a little dry. The buffalo Wellington is a fascinating western take on an old classic. It was my husband's favorite part of the meal. But my favorite was the elk T-bone. We got it cooked medium with the chimichurri sauce on the side, and that stuff was the bomb. The meat was tender and juicy, and the tang of the chimichurri just brought out all the amazing umami flavors in the meat. This was what I saved for my "last bite." My least favorite thing we ate was the elote salad. It didn't have a lot of spice which I was expecting because normally elote is pretty spicy. It was also cold, I suppose I should've expected that, with it being called a salad, but I didn't consider it. It was still good, just not my favorite thing when there were so many other amazing things we ate that night. Thank you Local for a great dining experience. It was the perfect culinary start to our western adventure.
Local was hands down one of the best meals we had. The French onion soup was incredible — easily the best I’ve ever had — and the cozy atmosphere inside made it even better. Definitely recommend stopping here if you’re in town.
Great food and drinks! They have a Great whiskey flight! Excellent place to have Dinner and then go next door to the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar ✨
Fantastic food and drinks. Freshly prepared, Hugh quality food that was outstanding. Great local brews on tap and the Huckleberry old fashioned was great. Burgers are amazing.
Happy Hour drinks (3p - 6p) 1/2 off. They make excellent drinks. Our server, Miles provided perfect service, and made superb menu suggestions. French onion soup for appetizer: is the best we've had in a very long time, if not the best. Philly cheese steak with jalapeños and steak burger with bleu cheese and Ceasars salad. Very good. Loved it here. The music played was for people of all ages.
We picked Local for a special date night toward the end of our trip, looking for a place with a more refined atmosphere—and it delivered! We had a reservation, and the restaurant filled up quickly. Our server was polite, knowledgeable about the menu, and provided helpful recommendations. The drinks were refreshing, and the Buffalo Tartare was some of the best I've ever had. Our entrées arrived promptly and were delicious. While our two-person table was a bit small, it didn't take away from the overall experience. The prices were very reasonable for the quality, and we didn’t feel like we were paying “The Jackson Tax.” A great choice for a nicer meal.
Bison burger (medium rare) + add ons. Grizzly Adam’s Cocktail. Brownie sundae. A succulent meal, one of the best there ever was.
I had lunch at Local and sat at the bar. I wanted to try one of their signature dishes and they suggested the Elk T-bone. It was so good, cooked just as I had requested and served with their house butter and their Chimichurri sauce which was super flavorful and delicious. I chose this spot based on the reviews and the menu and I think it's a great restaurant to have lunch, dinner and drinks. Ambiance was also very warm and cozy. Highly recommend dining here.
Best meal we had in Jackson. Rachel was our server, she was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I had the buffalo wellington and my husband had Elk t-bone. We shared potatoes au gratin and truffle mac n cheese. Everything was absolutely excellent. Definitely make a reservation, they fill up fast!
This place is my absolute go to! Every single thing on the menu is good and all great quality food. It's very nice environment and great selection of menu items. It is small and space is a premium here, so you'll be very closely seated with other guests. I don't really see it as a downside, as you'll converse with many a locals and tourists alike. Great staff and wonderful service 👏
We had a fantastic dining experience at this spot! Located right in the middle of town, we weren’t sure what to expect, but it absolutely exceeded our expectations. The service was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from the moment we walked in. We started with the bone marrow appetizer, and it was absolutely amazing.
Quality food and excellent service right in downtown. My companions all ordered the burger and complimented how it was cooked perfectly! Great cocktails list too! Would come back and recommend!
We loved our dinner at the Local! Right across from the town square, it is a sick location. Liked the selections of local cuisine offered. The food was great but the service was really exceptional! Our waiter Miles was attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend!
This place is AMAZING!! 10/10 recommend. We visited from out of town and a local recommended it. So glad we went for our one dinner we had to experience in Jackson during our short stay. The food was absolutely amazing. I had their filet steak with asparagus and my husband had their philly cheesesteak sandwich with fries! Both were fantastic. We also splurged and got the crème brûlée and OMG- it was amazing!! We sat at the bar on a busy Saturday night and were so well taken care of by the bar staff. Huge shout out to Chris, Daryl and Alexie who absolutely were killing it. They didn’t stop taking care of people at the bar or filling tickets while we were there for an hour or so. But they took such great care of us with that being said. BEST bar top service I have had. If you are looking for a dinner GO HERE!!
Great food and atmosphere!! The draft beer and bourbon selection was great for both of our tastes. We had the tartare, bone marrow, oysters, brussel sprouts and cowboy ribeye…all which were excellent! The dry-aged ribeye was cooked perfectly at medium rare and the tartare with the side of chips was extremely fresh. Bartenders were knowledgeable, and despite being really busy, took the time to chat with us and answer any and all questions that we had! Wonderful place.
We arrived in Jackson Hole around 2 PM yesterday and had made reservations at Locals due to the limited dinner spots on Christmas Eve. Our experience was truly wonderful from the start. We were greeted with warm smiles and promptly seated. Our waiter, Cody, was phenomenal. He had an impressive knowledge of the menu and described each dish with enthusiasm. Our food arrived quickly in rounds, and we appreciated his attentiveness, as other staff members also checked in on us throughout the meal. I highly recommend trying the charcuterie board; we sampled the game meat sausage and the duck and blue cheese with spicy mustard. While the duck wasn't to our taste, everything else was fantastic. The Caesar salad was generous in size and delicious. My husband ordered the buffalo, which he thoroughly enjoyed, and I had the ribeye. The ribeye was tender and cooked perfectly to my specifications, though I found the edges a bit dried out from being pan-fried. That said, it was still a solid dish, just not extraordinary. By the end of our meal, we were quite stuffed and decided to take home a slice of key lime cake, which my husband declared very tasty. Overall, the experience was delightful. Every staff member was cheerful and professional, clearly happy to be working on Christmas Eve. The restaurant's atmosphere was polished, with everyone looking well-groomed. They did add a 20% gratuity to the bill, which felt appropriate given the exceptional service we received. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality justifies it. We appreciated the transparency regarding the Christmas meal pricing. I sincerely hope all the hosts, cooks, waitresses, and waiters are blessed for their wonderful service last night.
Everything in the menu is made to perfection! You seriously cannot go wrong here with any dish whether you’re gluten free, vegetarian etc. they have something for everyone that will be genuinely satisfied. We ordered several small plates and two mains which was perfect for two. Staff were so kind and attentive throughout our dining experience. I’d highly recommend making reservations as dinner can get busy and each dish is made with love. Overall very pleased and will recommend. Location is in the heart of downtown so it’s fun to grab a bite then hop next door to dance at million dollar cowboy 🤠
LOCAL was perfect for my husband and I. We had an amazing waitress - she was a young lady with a unique name and short blonde hair! She knew the menu, and guided us in the right direction. I got a delicious light goat cheese and beet salad to start and it was my favorite salad in a LONG TIME. The beets were so fresh. I also got the filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly - medium rare and I loved every bite. My husband got their elk tenderloin with the bone in it, because our waitress said it was a must. She was RIGHT! We got the potatoes gratin. We loved the overall location, ambience and our table by the front window and artsy rabbit photo. If I ever get back to Jackson, I’ll be back at LOCAL!
We had a fabulous experience at Local in Jackson Hole last night I'd like to share. We had a larger group- but I'd called ahead for a reservation (which I'd highly recommend). When we arrived our table was ready and we were seated right away. Coat check was available, which was a very nice option. Our server was outstanding. She was knowledgeable and made us feel very comfortable. It's a bit loud in the restaurant and she had no problem repeating herself to both ends of the table. That was very kind. We ended up ordering the M&M option which is a family style service- with a few additional entrees to fill in. It was such a unique and fun experience. The food was all outstanding- the meat was perfectly prepared and such a beautiful display!
Nice spot for dinner. Great food to try out. We had a drink, appies, but didn't order dinner. I left before everyone else but apparently the staff weren't so happy with us not ordering a full meal. Oh well. The meat and cheese appie (pick 6) was nice, along with the fries.
We were very excited to try this place after multiple recommendations. Upon arrival we were greeted with friendly and welcoming service. We set up shop at the bar for a few drinks while we waited for dinner to start. The bartender provided exceptional service and drinks. We started with the Buffalo tartare which we’d highly recommend. However our steak entrees fell short. While ordering medium rare for both the filet mignon and ribeye, neither were cooked to order. The filet was rare and the ribeye mostly overcooked. Overall dinner was good but could have been great with the steaks being cooked correctly.
We had a great meal here and really enjoyed the food! The bone marrow and tartare were fabulous starters. I will say that our entrees (NY strip, ribeye and Wellington) were slightly overcooked, and the mac and cheese was a bit dry which is why I gave it 4 stars. Next time I will order my steaks a temp below my typical preference. The service was great, but the bar was a bit backed up. We were not in a rush so it didn’t impact our night. Overall would visit again!
It's not a bad option if you're in town! We went for lunch and the place was empty however very busy at night. The place is pricey, but I love that it has good bison steak and meat options. Service was okay. We sat at the bar and got decent care. Price: It is not a cheap restaurant but the quality is good. You can go either for lunch and get better prices, or for dinner and get more fancy experience. Menu has lots of variety. My friend is vegetarian and she got good options however she was not satisfied with taste. My steak was okay, I confess i was expecting more for the price, but either way, it's not a bad option. Atmosphere: the place is big and looks super nice! I will give it a 4.1
Came for lunch on our first day in town. We were seated right away and our service was good. My husband enjoyed his Old Fashioned but I didn’t care for the Fixed The Glitch, it sounded interesting but tasted thick (like syrup). Our food was good but quite pricey.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Local Restaurant and Bar in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. This hidden gem deserves a solid 4 out of 5 stars! First and foremost, let me give a special shoutout to the witty, humorous, and entertaining bartender who made our visit even more enjoyable. Their charm and banter added an extra layer of fun to the evening, making us feel right at home. Now, let's talk about the food. The bison burger, made from locally sourced meat, was an absolute treat for the taste buds. It was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The fact that they prioritize using local ingredients only added to the overall satisfaction of the dish. But let me tell you about the bone marrow. This seemingly simple item on the menu turned out to be the star of the show. It was easily the best thing we tried during our visit. The rich, creamy marrow paired with perfectly toasted bread was a match made in culinary heaven. In fact, it was so delicious that we couldn't resist going back to the restaurant the following day just to have another Local Restaurant and Bar offers a unique blend of a classic log cabin vibe with a clear modern twist. The rustic charm of the log cabin creates a cozy and inviting atmosphere, while the modern touches add a touch of sophistication. It's the perfect setting to enjoy a delicious meal and unwind with friends or loved ones. In conclusion, Local Restaurant and Bar is a fantastic dining destination in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. With a witty and entertaining bartender, mouthwatering bison burger, and the unforgettable bone marrow, it's a place that will leave you wanting more. And let's not forget the charming mix of classic log cabin vibes and modern touches that create a truly memorable dining experience. I highly recommend paying a visit to Local Restaurant and Bar for a delightful culinary adventure.
We got the trout salad and Buffalo burger, the trout and the buffalo patty were smoky in a perfect way, salad was fresh and has beetroots!!! Love it! Our waiter also recommended a local beer called Jenny Lake, goes really well with everything. We’d come back again
Great experience while enjoying a tasty dinner at the bar. Patrick was an excellent host / bartender. My Old Fashioned was top notch. They happened to have morel mushrooms that were out of this world good. We had the halibut and fingerling potatoes for dinner. Great spot to hang and visit for a few hours.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. So why only four stars? Acoustics. It's very loud... so loud that I had a difficult time hearing my table-mates. That said, I'd eat there again in a heartbeat. It's that good.
We decided we were going here at about 6 PM - made a reservation for 7 PM. We decided lets just see if theyll seat us, if not well walk around town. We walked in at 6:15 PM and they sat us right away (it looked much pretty much full, so maybe we were lucky). Overall the food was good - but a tad overpriced. I got the Elk Wellington and it was good, but for the price it should be more than just what looked like 4 oz of meat. While I cant necessarily criticize the service, because they sat us early, and our waiter was good - the timing I think could be better because we were out the door before our original reservation time. This seems to be common in much of Jackson Hole but we got our food extremely quickly. In some way thats great, but when theres not much else to do in town youd like to sit around and enjoy it going out. My advice is to pace the meals better - but maybe that doesnt work in a tourist town.
My wife and I were in town and searched diligently for the best rated restaurant with options that aligned with our preferences. Local was it. We had no issues making reservations. We had the crab cake for an appetizer and it was great. I ordered the 14oz wagyu New York with seasonal mushrooms and Au Gratin potatoes. The steak had a good internal temp but was burnt and charred on one side. Leaving a burnt carbon taste in my mouth for most of the meal. I would’ve had the steak recooked but the server was inattentive. We saw her maybe twice during the entire visit. I was disappointed to say the least. Spending 58$ on a steak I would expect at the very bare minimum that it wouldn’t come out burnt. My wife had the Buffalo Wellington, which was very tender and cooked to perfection. So the visit wasn’t a complete waste.
The steaks 🥩 are good but the sides need some work. Longhorns Mac & Cheese is way better. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Will consider going back if they work on the mash potatoes and Mac & cheese. The flourless dessert was amazing!
Had a nice lunch here with my wife and child. The burgers had a ton of flavor and were completely customizable. The fries were incredibly good, not very salty which some may like or dislike. The crab cake was good but had a pretty strong lemon flavor. The French onion soup ($17) was extremely bland. We ordered sodas and they came in a can to pour in a glass, not a big deal just prefer fountain soda. Overall, its a quality lunch with great service and a quiet atmosphere, and we will definitely return for dinner sometime.
Our expectations were high based on local’s and visitor’s accolades. We tried the bone marrow which was unique and tasty. We were less impressed with our burgers. We found them quite dry and relatively difficult to cut with a steak knife. Our waitress was friendly and responsive.
It was… fine. nothing great, nothing to write home about. With a reservation wait time was 5-10 min which is fine, service was fine, the food was okay, but it could have been me just having higher hopes. It was typical tourist town prices.21 for one crab cake app, 25-ish for a risotto plus $14 to add filet (three small pieces and one was SO over cooked) but again…. fine. i wouldn’t go back, but i the atmosphere was nice and bathrooms were clean.
The server was very good, but the atmosphere and food were not. It was very loud and hard to hear each other. When the reservation was made, they inquired about dietary restrictions. Two of us were gluten free. But when we ordered charcuterie, they did not have either gf bread or crackers. Why ask??The portions were ridiculously small for a $36 board with three small portions of meat and three of cheese. When we complained about the small sausage portion, they brought a even smaller piece and charged an additional $6. Our Tomahawk steak was not cooked to order and was half bone. You pay an additional $10 for each side. The best part of the meal was the crème brûlée. Don’t waste your time eating here. There are better options in town for less money. I wish I had read the reviews before we ate here.
We were so disappointed by our meal here. From start to finish, there was very little good. We had a reservation, but we were made to wait twenty minutes after the start time. Once seated, we were freezing. Many people still had their coats and hats on. The appetizers were both terrible- the tuna very fishy and the bread felt more like a soggy take and bake rather than $$$ bread. My partner got the filet minion and I got the elk medallions. Both were cold…. Like sitting in a freezer cold. Mine was also basically raw (and I’m not new to game meats). When we said something, staff was very apologetic. However they only took $30 off our $180 bill…. We definitely won’t be back. I would suggest other places in Jackson, as there are some fantastic places. This just isn’t one of them.
We went for the Holiday meal and honestly our waitress and the staff were wonderful. My husband had lobster bisque that he said was good but the French onion soup had zero taste and our steaks were not flavorful at all. It was the dipping sauces that gave the taste. Really disappointed for the amount of money this cost us. Again, waitress was excellent.
The experience at the restaurant bar was terrible. The manager and bar staff were dismissive and rude, treating us with clear disdain. The onion soup came in a tiny bowl, made mostly of bread, and the salad was the simplest possible — yet both were absurdly overpriced. With such awful service and mediocre food, this place is simply not worth your time.
Tip to management, do not seat a party of 2 directly between two large parties of 6-10! They were yelling across our table the entire time, drinks took 20 minutes to come out, and the cherry on top was the servers forgetting the birthday occasion for my girlfriend, even after calling the day before to verify/confirm. Total waste!
We tried to eat at the restaurant bar, the bar tender was extremely rude and ignored us most of the time. He served us one drink while we ordered, the refused us drinks saying that we appeared intoxicated. The manager was no help and was dismissive and arrogant. We left this restaurant and went to another and had a wonderful meal and a wine with our meal. Will never be back to this horrible establishment.
