Best Mexican food in the area! Try the Pollo en Crema a la Diabla if you like spicy. They also have the best Machaca!
Thank you Sal. I've never had any complaints and love your restaurant. I totally understand and could tell you were quite busy.
Amazing food l. Could eat there for every meal. good service
The BEST chili rellano I've had from any Mexican restaurant. Livingston La Morenita may be small, but great and friendly service with awesome food! 5 stars!!!
The burrito is so good I like it so much.i think you should try it the burrito service was great and nice people!
Excellent food, great service, good prices! I was here for a going away party and was really impressed...
First time here was 1978. Food and service are always excellent. Thanks for your great service all these years.
Great food great taste. The best chicken tacos around. Very generous with the chips and salsa. I would recommend to all to eat there.
Best Mexican food I've ever had. Menudo is over the top good. We had several other dishes that were the best!
Genuinely some of the absolute best Mexican food I've had in California. Meals came out quickly, waitresses were very nice, food was amazing.
Great welcoming family atmosphere! Personal amazing service. Food tastes like my Abuela is in the kitchen!!
Fantastic food and service. The environment is beautiful and the people are gracious and accommodating! My absolute favorite!
Looking for a place close by where we stayed at an RV park. Thought we would give it a try. Delicious food and great service! Had shrimp tacos with salsa and melted jack cheeze!! Delish!
La morenita is authentic divine food, Appetizers are delicious, good plate is the camarones rancheros(shrimps rancheros) they come with a side of salad rice beans and this shrimps in red salsa bomb! La morenita is a fine jewel in Livingston, ca five stars for these folks.
Friendly staff who will even make something not on menu if you ask! Food is always great and sauces are the best I've had.
The food and staff are great. The atmosphere and cleanliness is excellent. Will definitely go back! 🤗
Friendly staff, good food. Green sauce is great.
Been going here since I was in high school with my best friend Angel Chaudron and her parents. Still best Mexican food in the world.
Very good food. Many faithful customers, even during pandemic when it was take- out only.
This is my favorite lunch place, the staff is awesome it has a homey feel, the FOOD is DELISH!! I love getting their chicken Milanesa, Yum!!!
Love this place. Friendly greetings and great comfort food. The waiter/waitress are very tentative.
Best Mexican food within a 100 mile radius!
I go here all the time. Lunch or Supper. It's definitely the best Mexican restaurant in cali
Great for take too. Mafimy and i were starving after skimming in the river ar McConnell park. Look it. Only 2.4 mi away. Great choise 👌🚬😁
Only takeout right now due to Covid 19. Been going here over 20 years great food can't wait till we dine in again.
This is my favorite La Morenita out of all the ones in our area. The food is always made quickly, and consistent delicious flavor. Servers are pleasant and helpful with the menu. Covid: Adorable outdoor seating area with an overhead covering, and succulent planters surrounding distanced tables. Masks required while walking in restaurant and placing to-go orders.
The food is so yummy! Chips, salsa and cabbage dip is always my highlight for eating there. I moved out of state 10 years ago and when I'm back in town I always enjoy going there!!
This place is the real deal! Some of the best Mexican rice and beans I’ve ever had. The tortillas were tasty and the service was excellent. Ask for the hot salsa if you like it spicy! Mmmmmmmm.
The service here was amazing. Very friendly staff. The food came out quickly and was very delicious! Beef tacos, rice and beans were amazing.
Delicious sit down Mexican food. Chips, salsa and pickled cabbage were all great. Loved my Chili Colorado. My wife and I left very happy to have found this spot.
Absolutely love this place. They are so very nice and the food is amazing. My father is 86 yrs old and they get a kick out of him. So welcoming 😍
The staff are all so friendly. The food was delicious. I see why they are so popular
The food is superb! Especially the sauce for the chips! 🤤 hmmm 😋 very reasonable price for the food. Will go there again.
Great food and super friendly service, would totally return! Chicken and breaded shrimp was excellent and everyone else enjoyed their dinners. Portions were adequate and not excessive.
Dinner was great and their dishes were authentic Mexican food. We ran into this place based on their reviews and glad we gave them a try. Great food and great customer service.
Good food and service. Thanks, shall visit again.
This place is Small yet Flavorful. The food is amazing and the service is great as well. Great place to stop in to have a quick bite or to Socialize with friends.
A small quiet place. Though if a big party is there it won't be quiet. Nice staff, good beer, great enchilada. Also very nice if you ask how to pronounce something.
Had the Mar y Tierra. Breaded shrimp and chicken milanesa, added melted cheese and diabla sauce for that extra bang!!! Its was great!! Everyone needs to try it.
Their food was amazing and delicious there and their customer service was so good😋🤤!
Always great food and service. The restaurant needs basic updating. Booth seats are badly worn and have large dips in the filer. There is one tiny bathroom, but it is clean.
We eat here at least a couple times a month. Everything I've ordered here has been wonderful! The waitresses or waiters have always been nice and are knowledgeable about the menu and food so they were able to answer my questions.
Best food in Merced co
Was passing through here while driving down the 99. It looked good so decided to stop in for lunch. The food was excellent, fast service, and good atmosphere. All in all an excellent experience and will definitely be stopping in on more drives down.
This was the fourth time I've been to La morenita's. It exceeded my expectations. The food was delicious. I really love and appreciate the service. They kept our cups full and our table clean. Highly recommend this place for some delicious authentic flavorful food.
Wow! Compliments to the chef! I took some great friends to eat here. We ordered alot of our favorites and they were fantastic! Our server Elisa was great as well. Here is what we had: Molcajete Chile Rellenos Eric Cabral Special Beer selection is on point as well!! And don't forget to ask for dessert Churros and Ice Cream Atmosphere 👍🏼
Their pollo con crema has the best flavor ever! I would say it's quite garlicky, which I love! Also, the fajitas have a most delicious sauce on them. 10 out of 10 would recommend!
Stopped in for a quick lunch based on recommendations from co-workers. Ordered the lunch burrito supreme with carne asada. Wow! This wet burrito was nothing short of amazing. So flavorful and had just the right amount of heat. The salsa was homemade and they also had a cabbage salsa. Interesting but just wasn't my thing. Fantastic food overall! This Okie approves.
Neat little place just off the highway serving folks from every walk of life. The staff was very courteous and food pretty tasty. Snapped a few shots to demonstrate the exterior, artwork, personality, and of course the comida. Enjoy the photos ...
My order of camarones a la Diabla was scrumptious as always. Spicy like they should be. My mother enjoyed some great tasty asada sopes. Service is always great here. Food is always great . You can never go wrong with anything you order here. Because it will all be good and tasteful. Place is always clean. Staff are friendly and attentive. No doubt. Love eating here. It's a local family owned business. Locals love this place. Cuz they serve great food. Try this place i guarantee you will like it. I promise.
I was raised going to this restaurant 39 years. My parents were friends with the old owners back when I was a kid. So this restaurant has been a restaurant I have gone to my whole life. It is my favorite place to eat. And the owners now are the best. It has continued to be great over the years. Not only AMAZING food, for me this is home! Best of the best! My husband already knows the answer when asked "where do you want to eat?" 😁😂
No complaints. Real Mexican food. They offer cabbage along with their salsa & fresh chips, & green sauce is great too.
This is a hidden gem! Possibly the best homestyle Mexican I have ever had, which says a lot. The restaurant is right behind Sunshine Donuts in Livingston, Ca. We stopped in on the recommendation from an old rancher friend who swore this was the best he had ever had. He wasn't wrong. The place itself is very simple, but comfortable. It draws a big local crowd. The staff was very friendly and the food was amazing. I had the chile colorado and my wife had the chilaquiles. The chile colorado was fall apart tender and moist and the sauce was thick, dark, and mildly spicy. Served with rice, beans, and tasty homemade tortillas. I'll be making a point to hit this place any time I am down near Livingston...
Incredible selection of 50+ beers, the food is amazing and the staff made us feel like home. Totally recommended

We hadn’t visited there in a couple years. Decided to go back and glad we did. Excellent food, made exactly the way we asked. Server was very helpful.
First time here but the food and drinks were great will be back again soon 😁
They took us in before closing time and the food was great and so was the service! Totally coming back again 💪🏼
Our food was great and very large portions. I had the chimichanga and loved the simple rice, beans, and grilled chicken filling.

Great food. Great atmosphere. Beans were a little salty tasting but other than that i had a good time here.
Small, clean, inexpensive, no frills Mexican restaurant. Enchiladas with green sauce rice and beans were authentic and really good
The food was very tasty, the wait staff attentive. I will come again the next time I'm on the Hwy 99 corridor!
A kind Mexican cashier at rite aid reccomended this place to me. My friends and I enjoyed it. The entrance was slightlt difficult to find- its around back, but we accosted the man in the income tax place on accident, and he redirected us with a knowing wave and gesticulation in the right direction. I got the green salsa on the lunch special burrito at the servers recomendation, and it was tangy, as tomatillos usually are. Great customer service.
Pretty cool hole I'm the wall spot..loved the Cabbage salsa .never had it so it was a pleasant surprise.
Burrito in green sauce was great, I just wished they gave out more chips for the salsa than what they give now, it's a small paper bag but it's half full so it's not many chips I guess you can buy more I just don't think it's enough for the meal...
I wanted to give this place another try since my first experience was a little disappointing. SO GLAD I DID! I really enjoyed not just the green enchiladas, but also the great vibe the place has going on.
This is a solid choice for Mexican cuisine if you're looking for a meal in Livingston. The staff is friendly and the food is good. An interesting point about this La Morenita location is that it has a different menu compared to the Turlock, Ceres, and Modesto restaurants. Actually all four have different menus! I have my preference for favorite La Morenita, but you'll have to follow me on LiveJournal to find out.
The food was good. Great service. Only problem was that food was cold. Not warm like it should be. That's why I give it 4 stars not 5
Stopped here and the food was pretty good. The service was not too great as we never received the guac we asked the first girl for. Then our server (not the first person) came in 10 mins later after we got our drinks, where I asked for a burrito combo. I said no wet burrito, just a normal carnitas burrito and received the wettest burrito ever lol. It tasted fine but kinda bummed about it as she never came back to us so I ate it out of hunger.
Food was really good, staff was friendly. The restaurant could use a little sprucing up but over all a good place
I had the quesadilla supreme, smothered with asada n green sauce on top. Wife had red cheese enchiladas, both came w rice n beans 🔥 Came on Sat evening fairly busy, servers were friendly n food came fast. 1st time here but not our last.
The atmosphere and personnel were great. My wife’s plate was spicy shrimp a la crema. From her own opinion she said it was ok. Me in the hand had the menudo. To me the menudo was good but not great. It needed more flavor and usually menudo don’t have hominy and this one did. So o would the menudo a 5 out of 10.
I've been driving past this establishment on my way to work so I figured I give it go. The parking lot is a little small, but there was plenty of parking when I arrived during a Friday evening. There are tables and some lovely string lights outside the entrance. The interior was clean and nicely decorated with paintings. The restaurant culture here is also different than the ones I'm used to; for instance, I didn't know I was allowed to grab a table the moment I entered. After picking a table, I was offered the usual chips and salsa. I ordered a chimichanga (unaware I ordered the one with rice and beans, but they were good). I enjoyed the chimichanga very much. Cutting through the deep fried wrap and hearing it crumble was oddly satisfying. My waiter, Ezra, was so kind to let me order my chimichanga to have more of a "carne asada" prepared beef when the main choices were beef, pork, or chicken. The chimichanga itself is a good size. Though it may be because I have a smaller stomach, I ended up taking the half of it home along with some rice and beans. My only (and minor) critique: I was hoping the tables featured a box of napkins. My food packed enough heat to make my nose runny, so I need a little more than two pieces of napkins to get through my meal and wipe down any mess I created. Other than that, I had a really good experience at this establishment. Thanks again, Ezra.
1st time here, food is good. Menudo was on point. We'll be returning. Also ordered to go.

Chile Relleno burrito with red and green sauce was good. Menu needs updating with current cost.

Service was good, nice and fast. Child chicken taco plate was big $6.99, but food was flat, no flavor.
Service was great; however, the food was room temperature, and bland. The complimentary chips were GOOD and fresh, but the salsa was more like tomato sauce.
Wasn't crowded at all.. Waited almost 45 minutes for the meal. Waitress seemed to ignore us most of the time. Food was alright, but I won't be returning. Not worth it.
La Morenita in Merced used to be my FAVORITE place to eat years ago. I swore them off after my last two visits had baby critters on the table. So years later I was talked into trying Livingston. I was so excited when I walked in,it smelled like history like my favorite place. NOPE service sucked, they walked us in took our order and went back to talking..they dont have ground beef for tacos and their verde sauce is so sour tastes like a vinaigrette (mom wouldnt eat it) her chile relleno was tough. Service: to busy gossiping with each other to notice we needed assistance. Never refilled our drinks. Water was spilled at our table we barely had enough to clean it up they didnt offer more We basically helped ourselves Once the check was ready THEN they brought us take home plates after we sat waiting watching them stand in the kitchen door gossiping while the cooks worked there butts off. There were only a couple people in the restaurant, I know now why..bad food bad service expensive prices..but hey at least No bugs
It's just a little over priced for what you get. With so much competition around, I really think it's a must stop to taste their food. It's good, but there's other places that can compete with their taste. I'm more into taste buds enjoying the flavors, and not so much of adding extra to my dish. Try it though, it's for you if you like eating from trucks.
Food was good, service was lacking and quite slow for the amount if patrons that were there when we arrived. The place is very small and I feel take out would be a better option next time.
I decided to give this place a chance. Wait is fair. I ordered to go, waited about 30 minutes . So it's safe to say. You can call in your order. Paid 15 plus tax. And left a tip of course. Food was okay . A little pricy , i was expecting at least home made tortillas for their prices . Not sure if i would come back .
Super cute family restaurant with friendly staff. We were there on Sunday during the lunch rush, it was packed with the locals. We weren’t a fan of their salsa, tasted store bought. Food served lukewarm. Chilie Colorado was too salty. Dos Tacos Ahogados, tortilla tasted a bit off. Refried beans also tasted store bought. The service was friendly and timely, and the place was clean and quaint. Their food just didn’t tickle our palates!

The chips were fresh and delicious. The salsa with the chips was good and the 'curtido' was really good. I ordered the milanesa and that was a little underseasoned for me, the rice and beans were mid. The fresh cheese (mexican)) was a plus. My husband ordered the costillas and they were delicious The server was friendly and made suggestions. They offer beer but no cocktails.

Worst service, waited over 20 min for someone to take order. At 50 min in restaurant finally got our order. Food was fantastic
Food was okay. The fajitas are expensive at 28.50 for two they say but didn't cone with rice. Guacamole had to much lemon which over powered it.
The food was meh. The rice was dry the chimmichanga had about 2 small cubes of meat in it. The staff was quick to refill drinks and chips that's why I'm giving it two stars. Otherwise it would get one. By the way, they only habe carnitas on saturday and sunday.... what kind of Mexican restaurant only has carnitas 2 days a week? Pretty dissapointed.
Food was ok but don’t recommend because of price and they don’t have homemade tortillas also need to be more friendly.

Quail was so dry that no meat would come off of the bones. The only meat I could get from the whole quail was from the breast and it was so dry that it was hard to chew. The fried burrito was soggy and the tortilla just melted apart to goop. The kids burger was a burnt patty with a small amount of shredded white cheese crusted over it. My son took one bite. Service was on the slow side and you have to ask for refills. Server did not come back to ask about the food until it was time for the bill so corrections were not made. Server was nice enough but that doesn't change the quality of service much. The salsa was good and the chips were fine. Too many flies. Overall, 3/10 would not recommend.

Truely dissapointed Food was so, so And waitress was cooking and trying to waite tables, so I got up and replenished out drinks and salsa, and chips Visited during covid scare
My last visit at this place! The service has been horrible & the food does not even come out hot.
No greeting as I was entering the shop. When I asked for manue, she said; " it is right behind you." Who eat Burritos with folk? OMG! I ordered beef burrito supreme. Nothing in it but beef, rice, smashed beans in side n cheese on top with look like ketup sauce. You can not even eat this burrito with ur hands. You have to use folk. Taset? Terrible, n over price. Nearly $10.00.
The food is OK. At the service it’s not all that they choose and pick who gets a good service I waited for someone to ask for a second drink they never came back I seen families get multiple drinks. That’s not OK will pay it’s not free
Food is good, but you can’t trust their closing hours they suppose to close at nine, I went at 8:30pm they suppose to close at 9pm and they said they were closed because it was slow that day.. I was very disappointed, I drove all the way from Merced to Livingston only to eat there, and they were closed. They close when ever they want to.. they don’t respect closing hours..
Took 25-30 minutes for anyone to help us once we got a table. Forget seeing them again once you do order. You'll literally have to chase them down to get a refill or a tab. The kicker is they werent that busy. Not worth the poor service.
Food is nasty 🤢 beans and rice was served cold and meat tasted old. The waiter was barely to be seen. I was asking her for another drink and chips and as I'm asking she just starts walking away. Idk what you guys considered Mexican food but this ain't it. 🤪
First impressions are lasting impressions.. chips on the floor, our booth seat was ripped and missing padding to start with... When we received our food, it was cold.. For 3 people our bill was 65$. We will not be going back. Enjoy!
Been dining here for long time but been few months now went to eat dinner and I KNOW that was not the salsa they normally make it taste like picante sauce out of a jar the beans were rosarita or at least they taste like it. Love the service though and the crushed ice. The green sauce on the enchiladas was good. I however would not return.
Slow service, 🐌 and the waitress service another table with 6 people over 2 , I think for the tips. Food was bland beans tasted like Roseritas place could use updating. We waited about 45 minutes for food. Finally got 1 refill on our tea. Never again. And they weren't busy! 3 tables only.
