Great for low key pool most nights. Fun karaoke. Cheap drink. Friendly staff with fast service. What could be better? Oh yeah: THEIR FRIES ARE TO DIE FOR!

Went to Rittz concert. First time there. The breaded mushrooms are insanely good. Best I've had. Great and intimate venue for the music. All in all, a great time had by all.

Never a dull moment at Jake's. Great food and drink selection on top of a ton of great shows. The venue is so small, you get very up close to the bands performing. It's such a personable experience, I love it. My husband and I have gone to see a couple of shows at Jake's and were able to speak to some band members personally. The front woman for Eyes Set To Kill was walking around the bar before they came on, which is just something you don't normally see. She and a few members of the other bands took pictures and spoke with us at the end of the night. We live about 3 hours away, but it's worth the drive for the experience.

Well... not many places in the LBK bring rock bands. Sometimes they actually have some great shows too. But on a normal weekend it's a nice atmosphere. Big place. Hot waitresses. They serve food too but I've never had it. Definitely worth checking out. 5 star for Lubbock cuz of the shows.

A great venue for some of the biggest names around! Jake's backroom host a variety of Comedians to Heavy Metal Bands and everything else in-between. Great atmosphere exceptional drinks and food not to mention the wait staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend catching a show at Jakes. I also have to recommend the food, the burgers are delicious and very filling.

Me and my family ate here Christmas day. We always thought of Jakes as just a bar but it was chill vibe and the food was good. The wings were 🔥 and service was great too.

Great live music! I love going on Friday nights and listening to the Darren Welch Group with my boyfriend and friends. Also, the waitresses are always attentive and the beer is cold!

Really friendly place, you can strike up a conversation with someone at the bar. I was working in Lubbock and was from out of town and the bartenders called me by first name after my second time coming in. Drinks are cheap and the food is great. They also have live music and a variety of different things to entertain you. All and all a fun friendly place to hang out!

This place is awesome!! If you are looking for a dive bar with great atmosphere and the greatest wait staff around (Ally is the best you could ask for). Whiskey Wednesday is the best drink special in town. Music rocks and if you are Stars fan they put it on the big TV. Check it out if you are looking for cold beer, shots and Texas hockey hit this place up.

Jake's is another dive bar in Lubbock that's been around for some time. This place is tricky. Go here if you just wanna be left alone or argue why you think Lebron James is not the goat 😂. There was one bartender who doesn't like the volume up during Texas Tech games, weird right, well she's leaving, good riddance! No more grung music only she knows during games people actually came to watch, oh yeah lot's of people don't like you yet they still need a place to unwind, GOOD BYE! 👋🏿...GO to Jakes, it's not fancy but you should experience it at least once. Wear whatever and knock down some beers 🍻

It's Jake's so you know you'll be up close and personal with the band. The bartenders get your drinks out fast. Never hesitate to catch a show here. Just gets your tickets sooner than later because they will sell out.

Being New to Lubbock and not knowing where I would find a good spot I was ecstatic I came across Jakes Backroom. Little hot during concerts/performances but manageable.

I love Jake's bartenders, who are always friendly. The food is on par. I just love the atmosphere. You can't beat a show there on saturday night, always plenty of parking. Would always recommend to anyone in the are especially there weekend events are a good time.

I came in from out of town to visit with some friends and family and we ended up here at Jakes. Drinks were amazing. Food was quick. The service however… BEYOND EXCEPTIONAL!!! Little did I realize that I was actually dealing with a manager named Rhiannon. She was not only taking care of me and my table but, everyone and everything else at the same time. She was walking around checking on everyone in there… “Hi!! Welcome to Jake’s!! How is everything? Do you need anything?” If I were still in the bar and restaurant industry, I would most definitely love to have this woman on my team of management!!

Went to a show there last night had a great time. I have heard what a great place, and it is truly an original place you must visit in Lubbock. And they support local and/or small bands, more reason to support Jake's.

Enjoyed our waitress, but she's leaving to Seattle,WA. She was very friendly and new her food from Jake's. The atmosphere very cool and kick back. Food is very delicious and man the best cold beer mugs worth going back even if not to eat, but drink and listen to jams. I recommend it. Enjoy.

I have been to some live shows here plus they open at 7am and have a pretty good breakfast if you are hungry. I will have the Omelette with a side of whiskey. The prices are almost as friendly as the bartenders and staff. I am not a regular but I go to this place often. Any place that keeps me going back is worth the 5 stars.They have a jukebox kinda place with pool tables and darts. Your choice of seating Booths, tables, or bar, but no outside seating.

I love this place so much!!! I come here every Wednesday to do karaoke with Yung Crybaby and they are absolutely wonderful about it!!! They're always cheering me on and giving me hugs and high fives at the end of each and every night. They always remember my name!!! I got a sticker from one of the workers named Cat!!! She's so sweet!!! I love this place so much!!! AND YALLS PIZZA IS THE BEST HOLY SHIT!!!! 1/02/2026 So I have to edit this review because I have something else to add on. I swear to God, this is my favorite place ever. On several occasions have I been touched, assaulted, and harassed by other people there. Mostly men. And every time, every single one of the people who is working there? They've always kept me safe!!!! From Katt, to Darcey, to Q Ball, Crybaby, even some of the customers!!! This is the best place to go to. I love these guys so much for all they do. I finally feel like I found my family!!!!!

We had a fantastic time watching Ekoh and Arankai play in Jake’s Backroom! With the size of the venue it makes for an incredibly intimate concert experience. The sound team did a phenomenal job during the concert as well. Throw in great drinks at a very reasonable price and you have a recipe for a fantastic night out.

I'm the type of person that gets something and sticks with it, not much of trying something different. I was skeptical about trying their chicken tenders, but they did not disappoint. More chicken then breading, it didn't fall apart and 4 tenders was very filling. Amazing, great job 👏 Opps, I forgot to rave about the service, they were super nice and in top of everything. Not bothering you every 5 minutes but definitely kept an eye on our drinks.

This place was so cool. It's definitely a dive bar vibe, but that is my favorite part about it. The food was really good and came out quick! Our server, was tall and blonde, I think her name was bella, but she did awesome! I don't smoke, but you can smoke in there as well.

We attended a concert/Halloween party at the "Backroom". Mid-concert we went into the restaurant to get food, then returned to the concert, which was very handy. Alcoholic beverages were only $5 at the concert. The service was slow, but it was also pretty busy. Update visited in August. Great food and great service

We came here for our first time for the ATR show on Sept 23. After having been to several concerts, at large and small venues I have to say, this layout had me a little confused (finding the restroom), but in hindsight, I think having the restaurant area is genius! Being a non smoker I didn't particularly like that all the smokers came into the eating area to smoke (kind of turns you off to eating). It was a great show, but I also did notice that every band who played had to have the sound crew adjust volume levels during their sets. Where they had the bar and merch tables set up did make for a lot of congestion and confusion with other people as to where the lines were, however, those bartenders were excellent; quick and efficient. Overall, we had a blast, loved the venue and show

In town and decided to drop in for some drinks. We had a great time. The atmosphere was inviting. The only issue was the bar was not that busy and we had to wave down the bar tender twice. She wasn't very attentive. Overall the bar atmosphere was great.

I didn't try any food.liquor is decent price. New to area so this was first time going and there was wrestling. Great lil venue Great crowd definitely gonna see more events there.

We went there for a concert at Jake's Backroom. The staff in the bar section was very friendly and the prices were fair. The backroom isn't a huge area, but the acoustics were good enough to hear and understand the bands clearly. It's not a 5 star place but its definitely worth 4 stars.

Great food, great drinks and friendly atmosphere. The only negative thing I would say about the place is it's not smoke free so you leave smelling like cigarettes. I would have given it 5 stars otherwise.

Love the concerts they get in here. Just gets too hot and ots hard to get drink when they habe a concert. I still go cuz it's worth it. Always have a happy friendly staff.

Jake's is honestly pretty awesome! The food is good and it has a great atmosphere. I mainly visit for shows and live music, not much of a sports fan lol. My only qualm with Jake's is that the backroom gets insanely hot and muggy during shows but other than that it's awesome! Definitely a staple in Lubbock if live music, beer, sports, and having a good time is your thing.

Most of the staff is awesome and friendly. Bar tenders and security. always have a good show in the back. Just went to wrestling with our son and he had a blast even though there were some rude people (customers) that were there.

Great price on drinks, but the last Three times I have got food it has made me ill. Done with the Chicken Hotties since they can't seem to understand shelf life of a product. And for those who think "Oh, it must have been the alcohol." Two Ultras is not past my limit. Drinks, are great and the atmosphere screams Dive which I really love. I'm gonna keep going to Jakes, but ill eat somewhere else before I go in.

I grew up going to Jakes for concerts, so jakes feels like home sometimes! I know most of the staff because of local bands and being around for awhile! Food is always good, although it can take awhile, it's always good! Staff is kind and helpful, and will help you as soon as they possibly can. The backroom portion is cool and is a great oppertunity for lubbock to continue getting shows! And during events/shows, if there is any problems with people or people causing fights or danger, the staff is VERY quick to get those people handled, as far as safety, I feel pretty safe! They take care of their people!

My burger wasn't anything amazing. They were out of what I really wanted to order. The server didn't give us napkins or silverware until we asked which was weird. Good place for drinks and to hang out for awhile.

The concert was great...food awful. The waitress was taking shots with the table behind us, she obviously forgot out food which was cold af. The only reason for 3 stars was because of the Cavalera Bros, they were 5 stars. Seriously need better mgmt at this place.

Servers have went downhill compared to what had 6 months ago. Sad to see. Should not have to wait 30 minutes to get menu.

Came in for a show. The AC was not working it was so hot we couldn’t even enjoy the show. There was water all over the floor and the roof was leaking on us, the restroom is missing stall doors.

Didn't realize smoking was allowed so probably won't be back. Food was wonderful. The server we had was fun and took good care of us. Drinks seemed watered down. I got a double and still couldn't taste anything but the mix. We were there for emo night and I'm sorry but the sound system is really bad so the fun ended early as we couldn't stand to not really hear the music... Women's bathroom was down to 2 out of the 4 toilets by 9pm due to not flushing.

Great people in a local bar/restaurant. Went to watch the NFL ( Buffalo Bills) and they accommodated us by popping the game on. Pizza tasted like spaghetti with a hint of taco seasoning, but the price was $11.00 bucks.

OK,well,I have 2 reviews. First one is for morning/day shift weekday. They are all great. They deserve a 5 star. Afternoon/evening shift always sucks. Never come back to check on you,always take at least 15-20 minutes to acknowledge us.

We waited over an hour for our food amd people who had showed up after us got their food first. Our food was bland. A manager was called to our table and they never showed. Only part I enjoyed of the night was the UFC fights! And our waiter was inconsistent and avoided our table.

The Margarita was not great and the loaded nachos were terrible and too expensive for stale refried beans and just a little bit of beef.

I found fried bugs in my food multiple times. The concerts are good. But Jakes is an infested dump.

This place is better than nothing. I don't like that they allow smoking in there. Parking always seems to be an issue just like any other bar. Normally I would not have stepped into this place if it weren't for my friends and family wrestling in the backroom.

The service here is hit or miss. Depending on who is working, the waitresses will either be right on top of serving you, or they'll be too busy talking with their friends and you'll maybe get 1 drink in an hour. The bartenders are the same, some are terrible and some are great so I've had mixed experiences here. The food is always great and I highly recommend it. If the staff were trained appropriately to treat this like a job instead of a hang out then the service would be top notch. The facilities are that of a dive bar. The concert area, bathrooms and bar aren't well maintained. Drinks are cheap, so is the food, if it weren't for the service it would be one of my favorites.

Im not sure that I would even give it one star. My sister and I walked in to have a drink and possibly an appetizer but to our dismay people were being allowed to smoke in a very unventilated and very unwelcomed area, the dining area. If food is being served ...smoking should not be allowed. We had to leave because my throat couldnt take the close proximity of the cigarette smoke. So a very bad experience.

Don't sit at a table there is rude waitress that has dark short curly she must really hate her job. She over looked me and my husband about 7 times to serve tables around us without even saying a word. Even had looked us straight in the eye each time. I've been going to Jakes for years, loved it, but last night I saw the most disgusting thing, one of the bar tenders reached down to adjust a floor mat behind the bar, bare handed, then reached her hands in to the ice machine and proceeded to get peoples drinks without washing her hands. I don't know if I'll every eat or drink there again

One morning, an older bartender provided kind, courteous service throughout my meal and to the end of my last drink. The next morning a female bartender/manager lied, lied, lied in order to have me removed from Jake's. Both days, I wore BOSE earbuds, in order to listen to my own tunes, during my visits. The older fellow took the BOSE as the accepted, somewhat odd, behavior of a valued customer. The next day, the female bartender/manager took the BOSE as a slight of her barely existent charms.

Spent $35 to stand around in cigarette filled air waiting for the band for three hours. Wish they would have more accurate times listed for shows.

AWFUL!!! Here on a Friday night. Live band playing when first arrived and there was only one open seat. After the band stopped, there was a mass exodus. Order a beverage and sandwich, got the beverage. Found out 25 min later, my ordered sandwich was no longer available. Changed to simple burger and regular fries. 30 min later got the burger and heat lamp Curly fries. The burger tasted like a chopped steak that was thrown on a bun. The topping were half of a paper thin tomato and a quarter size pice of onion. The server was not. Screwed up 2 drink orders and could not be bothered to return to the table. I cannot speak for all the servers but this skinny kid should have been on mop duty and not interacting with any customers. Best advice…stay away…save your money, save your stomach, save your frustration!!!!

Leaving now because service was the absolute worst. Pollyanna was more concerned w the other servers personal life than her job. She stood and talked while we got our own ashtray, menus, and ordered thru the manager. She then was hostile when asked for silverware and napkins. Our drinks sat on the end of the bar for 8 minutes. A cheeseburger was brought without cheese and she stomped off cussing. The manager?, Gabriel, made it right on the ticket and his damage control must be a full time job!! We will be back but will make sure the server is someone else first. Good luck, Gabriel!!

Honestly this bar is very shorty on service. Which is understandable with events. But even then.. your drinks and food take forever.

Was visiting from North Carolina where it is illegal to smoke in a bar or restaurant. My friends and I were hit by a cloud of cigarette smoke as soon as we opened the door to walk in. Gross! I didn't order food because the smoke was too overwhelming. Service was slow. The only positive thing I can say about this place was the drink specials were well priced.

Our waitress, I believe her name was Trista(that’s the name that was on the receipt anyways.) was just flat out rude. From walking away while I was mid-conversation with her about an issue I had with my receipt. Which wasn’t even resolved at the end of it all. All the way to telling my friend and I that she didn’t know which drink was who’s and to switch them ourselves. Like?? I know it’s simple af and doesn’t seem like that big of a deal, but no I’m sorry that’s not my job? The drinks tasted like there was absolutely no alcohol in them what-so-ever. But the only positive point of this, would be Mike Johns. He helped 10x more then she did, and probably would be the only reason we’d go back.

1st. I have had more ok experiences here than bad, however i haven't had any great experiences. Shame it's the only bar and kitchen open before 11. Today was a bad experience. Asked for double shot margarita after a long 12 hour graveyard and out comes a glass of greenish yellow tainted ice water which tasted as water as it looked. Waitress says she saw it made and to that i say b.s. unless your friends with someone that works there or your co workers ask you to follow just stay away. Overpriced and underwhelming. Hope this saves some of you from disappointment and wasted time/ money.

I am reviewing this as a concert venue, nothing else. I don't eat here and I don't drink, so I have no opinion on those parts of the place. What I do have an opinion on is this: the flooring in the concert area. It used to be...just concrete, as I recall. Well, someone had the bonehead idea to cover most of the floor in what seems to be vinyl flooring. One drop of water/beer/anything wet renders the floor almost as slippery as ice, not just where it is wet, but any steps you take after stepping in it. I went to the Soulfly concert last night, all ready to mosh. That lasted no time at all. We were all going straight down to the ground, because you cannot put your foot down on that surface without it slipping, not a little, but badly. I gave up after the second attempt to go around, when I had to slow down so much, there wasn't a point in even being there. I was in brand new, slip-resistant boots, as well, and it made no difference. I might as well have come in roller skates. Max (the singer) kept saying "let's start a circle pit!" Yeah, we tried and couldn't...at all. All we could do was stand around like goons, or try to move, only to fall right down again. Some went down HARD, almost ALL without hitting anyone or making any contact with anyone else, just from slipping on the floor. Whoever did this to the floor...I can't explain the thinking. If you have metal shows, you can't have a floor like this. I won't go to shows here anymore until they fix it. There is no point. Inexcusable. People are not only not going to get to start a pit, but people are going to get badly hurt. This floor is an incomprehensibly bad decision. Fix this!

Manager is fine she tried to fix the situation but the bartender was being racist and said we were in the wrong place and we are colored melanated customers I promise I've never felt so out of place she needs to be fired the toilets had feces in them and this is how we got treated not fair I will be contacting the BBB

Servers, and bartenders too busy on their phones. Overpriced, and unwelcoming atmosphere. NOT THE SAME even 10 years ago. If it's not a BIG concert night, it's a graveyard, or on their way to.

40 years old but I will always be young at heart. Family and friends told me that Jake's is a great place to go take a date grab something to eat or in my case take over the pool table and yes the money that owned to me for having luck on my side lmfao. When I step out anywhere , I put money on, I smell of money I take all the money on any table. When I was told to take my blue rag off because it went good with my smile. Tessa k was our waitress and I've had bad service before but she was horrible. We had to find her to get a drink we had to ask the bartender for a menu got our food had to find her again and ask for silverware. We had to share one menu she never checked on us. She needs to not be a waitress js!!

Alright doing something different..... this is a review in progress. Live Review😂 Went to bar before coming to back to shoot some darts, and they all saw and acknowledged me..... shir said she would be right with me, mind you, it's a Monday night and not to bad but not even a smidgen, of a real waitresses (myself) meaning of a busy night. So waited for 2 minutes. She finished up serving them and walked right to the back, like I wasn't even there. So ok I'm older and more mature then I used to be, and blew it off and figured they'll come see if I need a drink back here in the dart/pool area. Well sadly that was at 6:18 and as of right now it is 6:28... it just really is so sad how many non-caring, lazy, attitude having, people we have in the customer service business today in this town let alone the world of serving! Idk I guess I was raised (blessed to be disciplined) to work hard and respect others. This long post and still not one waitress has came to see I'd I need anything to drink ! Smh it almost breaks my heart that some people can be so dumb and or careless. I'm only giving this place a 1 star because zero and less aren't available. Let's start with the good. The concert venue is pretty nice and smoke-free, so go there and enjoy some pretty inexpensive drinks and music. (Just avoid the restaurant entrance) Don't even try the restaurant/bar side. To say it smells like 30 years of active smoking is an understatement. I know they tried to look cool years ago to their smoker regulars and are still trying, but they don't look cool the don't smell cool. They aren't cool. Straight garbage, and there's a reason the restaurant isn't busy and doesn't have good food. The customers who can stand to eat there lost their taste buds to smoking years ago. Build an outdoor smoking patio and don't allow smoking indoors, and your sales will go up. Times have changed. Get with it or get left behind.

I’ll never go back here, came for the Sleep theory concert. Arrived a little before 6 when doors opened, got inside and waited for the first band to take the stage my husband and I noticed immediately how hot it was, but as the night progressed it became so miserable inside I genuinely thought I was going to pass out and i truly think I would’ve had a gentleman not handed me a water. There’s absolutely no air or proper ventilation, they cram so many people into this tiny building and you feel like you’re suffocating. I’ve never been so completely miserable in my life. Halfway thru the show they started handing out waters, but there’s not enough. I’ve seen the reviews for this place and I guess I should’ve known better, but this was my first time coming to Jake’s and I had high hopes, I left feeling so fatigued and dehydrated. Never again, save yourself the misery and stay away from this place. They clearly don’t care enough about there guests to fix the issue, not to mention ceiling looks like it’s falling down and there’s condensation or something dripping from the ceiling onto the floor, accident waiting to happen. Stay away.

The only good thing about this place is the prices on alcohol. It used to be a really cool place, but the vibe has completely changed.I do not enjoy hanging out the only times I go there now are if there is a show that I wanna see which is usually extremely overpriced.

We went for a concert and got there early to grab food. It took almost an hour for a pizza. The chicken on the pizza was so dry I ended up picking it off. The concert was great but the room where they have them perform is in need of major repair/ upgrades. Something was dripping from the ceiling and there were holes in the ceiling as well. It was so hot in there and felt like there was no air conditioning. We ended up having to leave because of the heat.
