I’ve had the original pollo campero growing up in Guatemala. The taste of course will never compare to the spices and seasonings from Guatemala but I could definitely taste it and just be taken back to how wonderful my childhood was going to eat pollo campero. A must try.

I had an amazing experience at Pollo Campero thanks to one of their employees. When I placed my order through the app, it said it would take about 50 minutes. I decided to check in at the restaurant just a few minutes later, and although I didn’t catch his name ( I was here 8/20 at approx 5:10 pm.), the employee at the counter was extremely helpful and told me he’d make sure my order was ready in about 10 minutes. I went back to wait in my car, and to my surprise, just a few minutes later he came outside, knocked on my window, and personally brought my food to me. He went above and beyond what was expected, and his kindness and efficiency left a lasting impression. I was extremely satisfied with the service and truly appreciate the extra effort. This type of customer care makes all the difference, thank you!

The Mix

To me, excellent food is one of the greatest pleasures on Earth. I pulled over to handle some phone work when I smelled a range of spices dancing in the air coming from this restaurant. In the US, where salt and pepper is too much spice, I knew I had to try it (I have found some great places this way). With my small sampler, I knew I would be back. Top of the list, the grilled chicken! This is what I smelled and I am still doing my happy dance. Juicy and buttery on the inside, the grilled chicken had a full body of deep spices that was perfectly satisfying and delicious. This IS the find for people watching their waistlines, but still carve great chicken. Let's talk about the flan. I have had so many styles of flan and respect their various heritages, but I have a strong preference for the super creamy and dense custard that you see in Europe. It's here. Do yourself a favor and get it for a decadent experience. Just a sidenote, the packaging at this restaurant is elevated. I always appreciate when people and places do more even when they don't need to because it says so much about the quality of their services and products.

I ordered cole slaw side but they gave me French fries instead. I told the lady that I'd already eaten some fries she said that's ok and she returned the fries to the container where they keep them warm to give them to someone else..that's really nasty

I was really excited to try Pollo Campero but left a little disappointed. The chicken was decent, but it was a bit too greasy for my taste. The sides were fine, but nothing stood out. The restaurant was clean, and the staff was friendly, but overall, I expected a bit more from the food.

Honestly, the food was overhyped. The fried chicken was mid, and the fries weren't even seasoned. I might go back for the plantains, and thats it.

Food is good, but the service needs improvement. Did not have grilled chicken when requested. Missing items when ordering through drive through. Once you go home, who is really going back? So you just wasted your money on items you never received. Speaker doesn't work that well when ordering from drive through and you have to repeat your order three times.

The chicken is great when it's fresh and fried hard, but that is a rare occurance. The fried chicken is incredibly fatty to the point of it being a bit gross when you get that pocket of unrendered chicken fat. The fries are always cold everytime I order them and the jalapeno ranch tasted like it was close to spoiling last time I had it, it could just be that it was warm when I asked for it with the salad I ordered. The service is not the best here, although the workers seem to enjoy working with each other. Lastly, the chicken is expensive, like most things these days, so I would expect it to be better. Unfortunately, would not recommend

Unfortunately, this location does not quite have it all together yet. Walked in to order a 12 piece mixed meal with fries (hard as heck), Campero rice (burnt vegetables) and their macaroni and cheese (mushy) and $65 later I’m pissed. It was not worth the 45 minutes I had to wait for. And then to add injury to the assault I was offered a free coupon to come back. REALLY???? No Thanks. Enter at your own risk. Too many employees to mess this experience up. Smh I’ll stick with the location in Lawndale or East Los Angeles.
