Southern hospitality, at its absolute best! The restaurant is beautiful, warm and inviting. I took my very particular family for a meal here when they were visiting Charleston. Having been here many times myself, I knew anything on the menu would be absolutely delicious. But some of our guests had questions about the unique aspects of the menu. The wait staff was informative and descriptive, and each person in our party loved the meal they ordered. The team also sent out a complimentary app and entry (which we were inquiring about originally), so we could try it out. That dish ended up being everyone’s favorite and we were so thrilled to be able to try it! The Post House gained patrons for life out of everyone in our party. Thank you to the team for going ABOVE and beyond, showing us a fantastic time and the incredible food. The Post House is a MUST, if you are visiting or are a local!

The location is picturesque and a short walk away from the water. We went for lunch, so I cannot comment on the rooms. The welcome we received upon entry was warm (especially as we did not have a reservation and it was 2:30pm). Our table was modestly but elegantly decorated. We ordered cocktails and a selection of starters and small plates. The various cuisine flavours complimented each other well and the barmen sure know how to make a margarita. 10/10 experience and would go again if we were local.

Food was killer! The Goat Cheese Creme Brulee was one of the most unique dishes I've ever had in my life. The service was over-the-top incredible! Sarah Rodriguez was our server and she went above and beyond! Post House is by far the best restaurant in Mount Pleasant!!

Had dinner at The Post House last night and it was incredible! The perfect mix of upscale and relaxed — amazing atmosphere, excellent cocktails, and food that was truly next level. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great dining experience in Charleston. I can't speak for the lodging or rooms, but being a local, may plan a staycation here, it was gorgeous!

Wow 😲 crab cannolis were nuts, cornbread excellent, burger was slamming! The lady really liked the homemade pasta shrimp setup too. Hostess was charming and super fun.

We chose Post House to celebrate my son’s 13th birthday, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. Although we didn’t have a reservation, we were seated in under five minutes. In that short time, the staff went above and beyond by signing a birthday card for my son and presenting it to him as we sat down. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and he truly appreciated it. Our server, Sarah, was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and prompt. She took our drink order immediately and brought our waters right away. All of our food arrived quickly and everything was absolutely delicious. After dinner, Sarah surprised the birthday boy with a complimentary bowl of ice cream, which made his evening even more special. We’ve visited Post House before and are consistently impressed with the quality of both the food and the service. However, I do want to mention one issue that stood out. A young male staff member, who appeared to be of Indian descent, was quite aggressive when delivering our meals. When he served my wife—who was holding our 6-week-old baby—he nearly bumped the baby with a plate. He didn’t say "excuse me" to anyone, he simply slammed the plates down on the table. When I pointed out his behavior, he laughed and walked away. It was disappointing to be treated in such a manner. I hope this can be addressed through training, as it stood in contrast to the otherwise excellent service we received. Overall, we had a great time celebrating and will continue to return—but I do hope this concern is taken seriously.

Post House is a great right out of Charleston spot for brunch or dinner. Great scene and decor, clean and well done. Food consistently very good with many unique menu items like their grits and butterbean burger. Also in a neat area of Mt Pleasant to explore!

Our 15th Anniversary stay with Post House was just what we needed. So much charm and beauty! Our room was cozy and had everything we needed. We ate most of our meals at the Post House and they accommodate Inn guests well. We made some reservations, but the times we did not (Friday night) they still had a table for us. Their brunch was amazing (blue crab kimche fried rice was my favorite...and gluten free) - delicious, and the service is outstanding. We had 5 meals there and ordered from most of the breakfast, brunch and dinner menus. It is a small menu, but everything is executed flawlessly and consistently. Everything from paint color, to room fragrance, to supplied soaps are curated intentionally. They left no detail out and it makes for a lovely experience. The character of Post House cannot be matched - if you are looking for somewhere that will leave an impression, if you want to slow down, if you need to relax - this place is for you!

I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now! I went for a friend’s birthday and it was absolutely incredible. The manager Tanya was AMAZING. Food was AMAZING. Definitely will go back!!!

We were so impressed by our stay here with our newborn. The staff made us feel comfortable and taken care of. We appreciated the comp’d drink tickets at check-in and a delicious house breakfast of eggs/sourdough in the morning!! The interior details are also so stunning. We didn’t get to try the famous burger but can’t wait to stay again.

We dined at the restaurant but didn’t stay at the hotel, although we wish we did! We had a wonderful dinner at Post House. Noteworthy was the crudo, butter bean salad, crab toast, the burger and the fish of the day. I really love tasting the culture of the area we are in and the butter bean salad delivered on that. Our waitress said it was like the salad she grew up eating at her grandmother’s southern Easter brunch. Every corner of the restaurant was all about Southern Charm and historical features. The neighborhood it is in is so lovely so the views out of the window match the interior.

*restaurant review only* we were visiting the area to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday and PH was on her list of must do's and glad it was. A very quaint setting, excellent drink menu and awesome food and service. The burger is an odd option, but a great choice. some of the price points are high but everything we had was delicious. And save room for dessert! A hidden gem for sure. just make sure to have reservations as it can get very busy. only disappointment was 3% service charge on all checks.

The restaurant was fantastic! The crispy potatoes were probably the best potatoes I've ever had. Very nice atmosphere and great service, too.

I hosted a bridal shower in the Rose Room of the Post House Inn and the experience was incredible from start to finish. Charlotte and Kristen were incredibly helpful, sweet and professional. The day was perfect and everyone at PH was so lovely. I would absolutely host another event here!

I didn’t stay at the hotel but stopped in for brunch and it was fantastic! The service was excellent and the food was even better. We loved the burgers, Caesar salad, blue crab fried kimchi, and the fried catfish sandwich—everything was perfectly done. The atmosphere is beautiful and the terrace is amazing (though it was a bit too hot to enjoy today). Can’t wait to come back!

I dined at Post House and the salad and drinks were amazing! The vibe was very posh and euro. I really appreciated the fly fans (essential for outdoor dining in the south!) Would definitely come back to enjoy the summer sun and catch up with friends. I can't comment on the rooms but the service and location in old village for the restaurant itself was fantastic.

We ate at the restaurant and oh my goodness… incredible. The corn bread is a must, the crab toast was the best part of the meal, and the melon ball cocktail was refreshing and tasty. I think the pictures speak for themselves.

Post House is one of my favorite spots in Charleston. I always bring friends here when they visit. The crab toast is a must and definitely my favorite starter. Everything on the menu is good and the bartenders really know their stuff. Highly recommend!

My family & I tried the restaurant at Post House Inn, and it was absolutely amazing. We were in Charleston for about 5 days and most of us agreed that this was the best food on the entire trip. I have high burger standards and I tried the cheese burger and it was so delicious, I actually want to go back to SC just for that burger. My grandmother tried the tuna melt and said it was good too. The staff were all super friendly and sweet also. 10/10 experience for me.

My daughter chose to have her wedding reception here. It was a small intimate wedding with 32 people. The post house was great! The food and service were exceptional! They provided everything except table decor. They even had name cards for seating and a microphone for speeches! I highly recommend this place for a small gathering!

Such a great restaurant inside and out - loved the atmosphere. Had a really yummy crudo here. My friend got the pumpkin soup and I got the Caesar salad. Everything was good but I have to say I was a little thrown off by an uncut Caesar salad - I feel like one doesn’t expect to have to cut up their own salad but it was a delicious one, nonetheless.

We had a fantastic dinner here. The staff was incredibly friendly and wonderful. However, we highly recommend making reservations in advance as the restaurant can get quite busy. We chose to dine inside. We’d have eaten outside but the bugs were a bit annoying. Fortunately, they have fans that help keep them at bay for those that do want to eat outside. The food was absolutely delicious, and we would definitely go back again.

Came to post house for the restaurant and to say the oysters were the best I’ve ever had wouldn’t be enough praise. These oysters were the absolute…BEST oysters we have ever had. Visited Charleston from Chicago and I will dream of these oysters until I can find ones better. Post House was our favorite dinner on our trip.. & we went to all the recommended places 😉 Food 10/10 Drinks 10/10 Atmosphere 10/10 Service 10/10

Delightful brunch, hosted by our friendly waitress, Kate. We shared the burger, chicken and waffles and the crispy potatos. All were an absolute delight! Strongly recommend this combo to share amongst the table

What an amazing experience!! Not only atmosphere but the service as well! Troop was a blessing and catered to every need before we even knew what we wanted! If you ever find yourself In Charleston please make your way to Mt Pleasant! Be sure to request Troop! It was once and a lifetime! Will be back soon, and hope to have Troop once more!

My wife and I went on Tuesday and had the pleasure of meeting Troop, our server. He had recommended the French Onion Dip and Cornbread for our appetizer. I had the Back Bar Cheeseburger and Troop recommended the Half Chicken for my wife. All great tasting food!! The service was excellent and Troop was so knowledgeable about the menu and answered any questions we had. We will be back again and can’t wait to come back and have Troop serve us again!!

Birthday dinner with family and a first visit to this great restaurant. Appetizers (oysters, crudo, and fish dip, aka Pâté) were amazing. Top two entrees were the market fish and the filet. Regarding the filet, if Hall’s is your standard, this steak exceeded. Pan seared snapper was perfectly prepared. Service was outstanding for our party of six. Don’t miss this gem and save yourself the trip downtown.

We had lunch here the atmosphere is great with lots of charm. It seems to be a local favorite. The food was excellent and so was the service. We found this as we were looking for filming locations of the movie The Notebook. The drug store where Ally put the ice cream on Noah's nose is right next door.

The food was completely divine! The blue crab toast was to die for, the drinks were perfect, steak was amazing and affogato for dessert was perfection! Everything we ordered was amazing- just go!

To the haters of children that we had the unfortunate experience of dining with at the Post House ... you made fools of yourselves as everyone in the restaurant was appalled by your behavior. All of the staff, and many of the diners, apologized to us for your out of control criticism. Our grandson is a happy 2 year old child, the bar was noisy and our boy was having fun like everyone else. You made fools of yourselves. Many thanks to the kindness of the staff who realized that a child is a child.

Post House is an awesome spot to grab a bite in Mount Pleasant. Their burger is easily one of the best in town and they are always cycling in great specials depending on the time of year.

Met a few girls that I hadn't seen in a while to catch up and enjoy a great meal!- we had a wonderful time and the service was outstanding. Wine flowed freely and the food was wonderful. I had their chicken wellington from the "restaurant week" menu and it was quite tasty. Nothing I had ever had before. the crab toast was a great starter and we also enjoyed a second appetizer the manager blessed us with. We had a couple of desserts also, which we did enjoy. Not everything was PERFECT, but what I can tell you is that they made up for any imperfections in their service, care and diligence to ensure we had the best experience possible. THANK YOU Post house staff for a memorable experience.

We went there on a friend’s recommendation & were WOWed by the high quality & fresh flavors of our meal & our whole experience at Post House. Morgan was our waiter & from the start he was attentive, engaging, eager to answer our questions or find answers to for the ones he didn’t know. He made our anniversary extra special in so many ways. Thank you Morgan & thank you Post House, we’ll be back next time we’re in Mt. Pleasant, can’t wait!!

We’ve enjoyed the Post House several times, and each visit has met our expectations for great food and a welcoming atmosphere. On our most recent trip, we encountered a couple of minor issues, but Tanya, the GM, stepped in immediately and resolved everything proactively. Her attentiveness made all the difference. We look forward to many more meals at this quaint, cozy, and consistently delightful restaurant.

The Post House is our favorite place to stay in Charleston! The rooms are stunning and impeccably clean. The restaurant is delicious and all the staff are delightful. Our favorite part is the European breakfast served right to the room. It has certainly earned a place on our list of favorites across the country! Everything is curated to perfection. We’re already looking for an excuse to book another stay!

Great experience. Sat at the bar and the bartenders were so nice. They had a Christmas prix fixe menu. A lot of what we got was not actually what was advertised on the menu. Shrimp instead of scallops, quinoa instead of risotto, flounder instead of snapper. Even though we loved we loved what we got anyway, they took care of our bill. Great business. Highlights were the butternut squash soup cappuccino served with unsweetened whip cream and the cheesecake with Carmel ice cream. Will definitely come back.

My husband and I had a “Christmas Kick Off” at the Post House Inn last weekend. It included dining and a stay at the Inn. The food and service were fantastic (shoutout to Ryan). He was knowledgeable and made us feel special. Our room was comfortable and well appointed. Special thanks to Eilish and the Inn team for making us feel so welcome. They took care of us from check in to check out. It was a wonderful and festive experience. We will definitely be back!

My wife and I had dinner here last night and it was a very enjoyable experience. The atmosphere is terrific, the food was very good but the service might have been the best part. Our server (Morgan??) was friendly, professional and personable. On our next visit, we will ask for him as he really made the evening!

A big thank you to the Post House & staff for hosting my daughter’s wedding last month and making the day a memorable one. Our experience was exceptional from start to finish. The venue was absolutely perfect and the service and hospitality were impeccable. PH clearly takes pride in making weddings special. As expected, the meal and bar service exceeded expectations. All of our guests were amazed and complimentary. For anyone considering to have PH serve as a wedding venue, don’t hesitate for a second!

The Poor House offers a lively, coastal vibe with great service and a fun dining atmosphere. The regular beef burger was absolutely spectacular — one of the best I’ve had. The Crudo appetizer was fresh and enjoyable, though the crostini served with the salmon pâté tasted a bit stale and lacked that satisfying crunch you’d expect to balance the creamy spread. On the other hand, the beef filet dish didn’t quite live up to expectations. The meat was a bit underwhelming, and the potatoes it came with were bland and forgettable. One major downside: the bugs. My wife and I spent much of the meal swatting at mosquitoes, flies, and gnats, which made it hard to stay comfortable and enjoy the experience fully. Overall, there’s a lot to love about The Poor House, and with a few tweaks to both the food and outdoor comfort, it could be truly outstanding.

Went to the restaurant in there did not stay, SO THIS REVIEW IS ONLY BASED OFF OF THE RESTAURANT. Food was good, but their menu is lacking! There is so much more potential in their menu, only one burger, the rest are manly vegetables and fruit. And no bacon? NO BACON!!! They only serve bacon durning brunch. What??? Bacon should be served all day everyday. I am feeling kind so I gave this 4 stars. It would be tanking down to one if it was worse. Service was mediocre, but we had a party of about 12+, so it’s completely understandable. Our waiters were very polite, and the decor and lighting was SUPERB. Also we got to see the wine cellar open, as a lady needed to put chairs in there. Pretty cool!

K
Kristin Ranson

Great atmosphere and decor. The kitchen sent us complimentary appetizers, the beet tartar & cornbread. They were delicious. Our cocktails were very nice - bells of Jalisco. Two spicy & smoky margaritas. Don’t bother with the Marinated Tuna from the raw bar. It’s a tuna salad and bland. The Wellness salad was bland as well. The back bar cheeseburger and the Tarvin shrimp cavatelli were very good! Stick to what the locals recommend.

Review of restaurant only. Nice atmosphere with pretty people eating in this establishment. Menu is limited and food was good, but nothing great. Don't think I would eat here again with so many options in Charleston. Staff was nice and did a great job. Don't make the mistake of dinning outside as you will be eaten alive by mosquitoes.

The food and service were good! My main issue is with the portions on some of their dishes. On two separate occasions I have been shocked at the very small amount of food they served with a straight face. Last week I went for brunch and ordered the waffle. While the waffle was delicious I almost laughed when they set it down and it was one singular waffle that looked absolutely ridiculously small on the plate it was served on. Felt like a $17 child's portion.

One ⭐️ because I thought the menu was inspired, although fell short of expectations (turkish eggs’ tater was too greasy, fried rice too salty). One additional ⭐️ because the place was cute, well appointed. All this to say Post House has the worst service I have ever received- on a global level. The hostess did not greet us/smile/or show us to our seats, just pointed us in the direction of the bar. The waiters/bartenders is where the really absurd behavior came. I am not exaggerating when I say neither bartender spoke a word to us the entire hour we were there. One bartender straight up ignored me on two separate occasions when I asked for milk for our coffee and an extra plate for sharing. For context, he was literally a foot away and facing me. The other bartender never acknowledged us verbally or otherwise, but would do as I asked seemingly begrudgingly (thank God he at least brought us our food??). The crème on top was him trying to bill us for another group’s larger order. Waters and coffees were never refilled, although that seems minor compared to the fact that they completely ignored us and treated us as pariahs. It was like we existed in a vacuum. Unfortunately, this is not a one time experience. My spouse, who had tried the restaurant months prior, similarly was treated disrespectfully by staff. I assume that this level of toxicity must come from the top down. I would steer clear of Post House. It was shocking to be treated in such a hostile manner during what should have been a lovely Saturday brunch.

I was so excited to try! Such a charming location and beautiful building. Unfortunately the food was just average (especially for the cost) and the service was subpar. The waitress seemed disinterested at best and pretty much ruined whatever good vibes there were. So sad because I wanted to love it - old town is my favorite!

D
Deborah Barker

Celebrating our anniversary and we were very disappointed. The overall experience was marginal at best. The food was overpriced, very limited menu, a hamburger for an entree? service was mediocre, nothing like it should have been when owned by the Maverick group. Our steaks were overcooked. The offerings for dessert were underwhelming so we passed on that. We weren’t offered coffee or tea. They seemed to be most interested in turning over tables. We won’t be back.

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Mount Pleasant — I’d bring all my out-of-town guests here because the food and service were always excellent. Unfortunately, after visiting recently, I don’t think I’ll be coming back. We were a party of 6 with a 6:15pm reservation and didn’t leave until 9:15pm due to extremely slow service. Our server was inattentive and seemed completely out of it — we honestly wondered if something was wrong. The food, which used to be a highlight, was now just average at best. I’ve heard there may have been a recent change in management, and if that’s true, it might explain the sharp decline in both quality and service. Whatever the reason, it’s a real disappointment to see such a great spot lose its spark.

Reservation was for 4 ppl at 7:30 pm for a nice birthday dinner with the family. Asked to be seated in main dining room. We were sat at bar lounge table and told the other tables were for inn patrons with 4 people, and the main room was full already, even tho I made a reservation 2 weeks in advance for the main room. I saw empty tables in the main room too. That upset me. the Bar area table was Extremely loud and I couldn’t have a conversation with my family over the racket. Food is just ok. Nothing special. Got the cheeseburger, the fries were cold, got the bottom of the fry bin with burnt ends, wife’s Caesar salad was plain and blah . Cavatelli with shrimp was meh. Crab toast was subpar and just flavorless. Would give place 0 stars. Food meh. Seating was ridiculous and inconvenient and hostess was unaccomodating and the bar is very loud. Not going back or recommending this place, sorry PH, just not a good night for us.
