One of my favorite brunch places hands down! Large outdoor seating and dogs are welcome. The huevos rancheros are some of the best I've had and the homemade biscuits are pretty good too. Reservations are recommended, but not required. Generally had to wait about 20 minutes for outdoor seating. Take a look at the photos, you won't be disappointed.

I saw Cookshop on a list of brunch places and made a reservation. It wasn’t crowded when we sat down but filled up quickly. I see why it’s on the list of brunch places. Many fun drink options (I didn’t try the frozen Paloma but want to go back and have one), including a delicious and very spicy Bloody Mary. Based on our very friendly and helpful servers suggestion, we both had the huevos ranchero. Quite tasty. Spicy and good mix of crispy tortilla strips and eggs and sauce. And big portion! We added the bread with jam, butter and olive oil. Love the bread and the char. It looked so good the table next to us ordered it too! The desserts sounded so good we went back the same night for some apple crumble and soft gingerbread cookies. The buttermilk ice cream on the crumble was amazing. Perfect compliment to the hot, crumbly, cinnamony apple crisp. Service was great! Our server was so nice and gave us recommendations for other places to hit for drinks. A great neighborhood restaurant with delicious food and fantastic service.

Excellent food. We had lunch and ordered the Deviled eggs, Pollock dish and Burrata. They were all very good and fresh. The apple pie is also good, but not as great as the other dishes we ordered. The cocktails are very good as well.

First off, make sure you make a reservation, otherwise you’ll wait a long time (worth the wait though) the food is outstanding, the staff is friendly and very attentive, make sure you go in hungry and willing to let yourself go with the experience. Our apps were delicious from the fennel and persimmons salad to the burrata, mains that Braised Pork Shoulder is out of this world! And I highly recommend their Apple Pie!

the hand soap actually smells good. dad said that rainbows everywhere was the "best gay beer i've had yet" expensive but it's nyc so to be expected. great options without gluten, but no gluten-free substitutes

This place has great atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating. The service was good. Food was delicious! The drinks and desserts were not my favorites but the taste of the food was so good that I’m sure I will be back.

I am majorly in love with this restaurant. What a fantastic experience! The atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed, and the service was excellent. The servers were polite, responsive, and quick to fix even the smallest error. I will say I do not like their black iced tea at all... it reminded me of Nyquil a little bit. You can tell the default iced tea is blended with some odd kind of fruit or something, I don't know. I really didn't like it at all. However, our server simply brewed me some fresh black breakfast tea and iced it for me, and that was perfect. The food was incredible! I definitely recommend the pot roast or the chicken dishes. Delightful. The ice cream we had for dessert was interesting. You can tell it's made in small batches or perhaps even from scratch in the back... there's something unique about it that's hard to place. Coconut, maybe? Or a hint of butterscotch in the vanilla? I don't know, but we liked it a lot. If we lived in the area we would easily be here every month. Loved it! Definitely check this place out.

The breakfast was to die for. Its pricey, yes, but we got cocktails, one each, so that's obviously gonna drive up the price. We went during Christmas so the decorations were breathtaking. Also, the music was cool and chill. Lovely, sophisticated staff. The potatoes are cooked in what I believe is chorizo fat, delicious!!

P
Pranshu Sehgal

The food was simply amazing and the service was a 10/10 as well. The best thing about the restaurant is the cocktails. I have tried every single cocktail they have to offer and all of them are amazing! The trout was cooked just the right amount and the broccoli on top makes it so much better. Took a side of asparagus and russet crisp potatoes which were very well prepared and presented.

M
Marcela Montemayor (Marcy)

The entrées are 10/10, without a doubt absolutely delicious. Cocktails are really well made, taste great too. The only thing I wouldn’t order again is the artisanal cheese plate. For a $19 appetizer you’d expect more of a variety, but to have 3 small pieces of cheese with walnuts sort of just spread out and two unpitted dates thrown on an awkwardly too large plate felt like I overpaid for basically nothing, but what there was still really good!

M
Mayur Patel

The brioche French toast with caramelized apples was delicious, however beware because it is essentially pure dessert for breakfast! The food here is really high quality although a bit on the more expensive side.

West Chelsea hottest spot! Brunch, lunch, or dinner, Cookshop is always hopping! Food is all sorts of goodness with local ingredients woven into contemporary dishes. Classics like the burger are also done to a standard of excellence. Brunch is very good too, and offers a menu that will appeal to non-carnivorous eaters! Cookshop always features excellent service and a great indoor decor. Equally as impressive is their outdoor setup, which is well done in across all seasons.

A cute little place in Chelsea! I was seated on the patio with my dog and the staff were so welcoming. The host and a few staff were cooing over my dog at the front of the restaurant, which made me laugh. The summer salad and coffee was excellent. I would love to return to try more of their menu!

Made a reservation for Sunday brunch was seated promptly. Our server was very nice and gave us his full attention even though the place was very busy. The food tasted delicious. I took an Uber there but suprisingly there was parking spots empty on W 20th St if you are looking to drive there

The cassoulet was exceptional. It was a very large dish, would recommend sharing with another person! We also brought our dog and were able to sit outside and enjoy our meal in the heated covered patio.

Best restaurant in NYC and the world - upscale casual atmosphere with equally sophisticated and kind staff. This is my favorite restaurant - never, ever disappoints. The appetizers and sides and desserts should always be ordered because they’re always special dishes, menu changing seasonally - they source local, fresh food as often as possible. It’s a master class in NYC restauranting.

Friendly service and good food, with many healthy options. The chilled yellow tomato soup was flavorful and refreshing, a good summer appetizer. The mackerel was good, meaty, with a complex dressing, and with a good amount of vegetables.

Great service, great food & great drinks. The Huervos rancheros are 10/10. Never disappoint! First time trying the bluefin crostini & the fluke crudo - both were excellent. I didn’t try the pot de creme but those who did quite enjoyed it,

We had a very nice dinner outside. Portions were just right, leaving room to enjoy a dessert. The deviled egg appetizer was delicious, as were all our meals. The staff were attentive and friendly.

This place rocked. We wanted something close to the High Line and this place popped up. We made a reservation via Open Table. After getting delayed on the subway, we were a little late. The hostess was understandable and we were seated at a table right away. It was busy and lively. We ate the sourdough bread, citrus salad and deviled eggs. It was all good. I am certain anything is good on their menu. Thanks Cookshop!

J
Jen Smith

Cute atmosphere and great food! I went for dinner. The Burrata w/ eggplant was really good, although the toasted bread it was served with was too hard, uncomfortably hard to chew. The Fluke Crudo was lite and very tasty. The pear and beet salad was also very good and the Spit-Roasted Chicken was so delicious with a nice crispy skin! I would definitely come back!

J

Brunch in heated Patio with excellent cuisine, so tasty and many appetizing choices on the menu. Huevos Rancheros is exceptional and the smoked trout with egg salad an adventurous alternate. Bloody Marys too. Can't wait to return

Love the Cookshop space and seasonal menu. There is plenty of outdoor covered seating as well as a large indoor dining room. The best entree was the Hand shucked sea scallops served with corn pudding and Nardello peppers. Note: reservations are recommended as they are often at capacity.

Nice friendly corner place for brunch. The bread, biscuit, all good. My favorite is the poached egg. The Italian seasoning with olive oil made this dish outstanding. Plain eggs just changed to royalty

I’m in love with this place. The staff was pleasant and the service was A-1. It perfect for a pair or large groups of guests. It’s decor and feel of the place is sprinkled w/ European flair. Perfect for breakfast & brunch. I love that this place has so many healthy options with each presented so beautifully. The food is fresh, the flavors are unique and the use of different ingredients surprised me on how well they work and balance out together. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the Meatpacking area in nyc. After you dine here you can take a stroll on the iconic SkyLine or explore luxury shops. GO HERE!

It is a really popular spot for weekend brunch, we decided to give it a try and had a satisfying experience. Cilbir was very interesting fusion with sweet potato, omelette was good but fries were surprisingly my favorite with dreamy crispiness. Our waitress was friendly as well. Overall great place for brunch!

Love this place for brunch but had never tried their dinner. Extremely friendly staff and great drinks. Had their pizza and the pizza crust is bomb! For drinks the Pomelita is amazing! Highly recommend Edit: 10/30 Came here for brunch the other day and can confirm how amazing the food is!!

What an experience! Their brunch was one of the best in the city. Beautiful, simple interior. Beautiful light coming in through the large windows. The noise level was reasonable. The food! Their Huevos was absolutely delicious. Their Bloody Mary’s were perfectly created. The service was excellent, especially the bartender Roberto.

G

The albacore tuna was overall excellent. I had expected it to be a little more moist, but maybe because I'm more used to having salmon. Nevertheless, the fennel, grapefruit, orange, etc., contributed to a great combination of flavors. For the starter, I had ordered the brandade fritters, but they gave me house-cured bresaola instead. To be honest, looking at the thin red slices, I thought this didn't look right, but wasn't 100% sure, so I didn't say anything 🤣. I ate it anyway, and I have to admit I enjoyed it a lot 😄 I think the sweet taste of pomegranate and the cured meat went quite well together. Overall 5 stars for food. 4 stars for service and atmosphere (the starter mix-up didn't affect my rating).

Nothing beats brunch at COOKSHOP. One of NY’s original cram to table restaurants, this restaurant delivers delicious, savory cuisine that never disappoints! I recommend starting with the BLT Bloody Mary. The name says it all. The deviled eggs are divine and the pulled pork croquettes are dripping with flavor. If you go with a big appetite, indulge in the Huevos Rancheros. They are amazing!!

go for brunch this summer and get the poached eggs! they’re refreshingly delicious while paired with its plump heirloom tomatoes. i heard they were picked fresh that morning from the farmers market, which is amazing that it’s sourced locally. service was also great. their AC broke (of course on the hottest day of the summer) and they had to move us from our seated table twice, which i would have been super upset about, but their associates were so kind and truly just wanted it to cool down. they comped all of our drinks for us too, which was a cherry on top. 10/10 would recommend!

I don’t often give a 5 but this restaurant was excellent. Interesting menu, fresh fresh food, beautiful plating and great service. Was also a spectacular evening to dine outside. Wine selection was my favorite, had byodynamic and organic offerings and the menu noted each type. Shaved zucchini appetizer was great, a nice bite to the zucchini with lemon and sharp feta, a great combination. Ricotta and peas, another great choice. Perfectly toasted bread with creamy ricotta and sweet peas with a hint of mint. Onion pie and roasted pork (pork is not on the online menu). Were both delicious. Did not order dessert but they brought us one to share anyway, goat cheese cheesecake, it was amazing. Rich flavor but light and airy. Overall have nothing but good things to say!!!

I recently dined at this NYC restaurant, and it surpassed all my expectations. Thanks to a friend's recommendation, I gave it a try, and I'm thrilled I did. The "Live from the Garden" cocktail was refreshingly balanced. And my impeccably cooked half-chicken was tender and bursting with flavour. Ending with the chocolate cheesecake was heavenly—a perfect blend of rich chocolate and creamy cheesecake. I can't wait to return on my next NYC trip!

My friends and I had a great brunch experience here, sampling a variety of dishes: DEVILED EGGS, HUEVOS RANCHEROS, GRILLED ASPARAGUS SANDWICH, SCRAMBLED EGGS, and FRENCH FRIES. Among all, the HUEVOS RANCHEROS stood out the most - the combination of black beans, ranchero sauce, Monterey jack cheese, crème fraîche, tortilla crisps, and pickled jalapeño was very flavorful and had lots of texture! All the dishes were decent and quite filling. The outdoor dining area is great, with chill vibes and friendly service. It’s better to make a reservation for a weekend brunch as this place is very popular!

Went here for brunch and it was the 4 of us who were seated right away on a Saturday at 11:40 am. The place was really busy with close to 90% occupancy. Their brunch menu is amazing and we ordered a few starters including the extremely delicious Deviled Egg tasting ($10), and Burrata ($16). I also got the Bloody Marianna cocktail ($12) which was quite good. Overall their drinks were really nice. For mains, I got the Cascun Farm Chicken Breast ($21) which had kale, parsnip, carrot, celery root, beet, toasted walnuts, and chimichurri. That combination and the salad itself was extremely delicious and I'd highly recommend it. I personally find cooking Chicken Breast a challenge, but their chicken was cooked to perfection. It was tender and juicy and had an amazing flavor and wasn't dry at all. Was good till the last bite. Service is excellent and so was our waiter who was attentive and always checked on us if we needed anything. Food arrived within 20 minutes of ordering. Overall, we had a great experience and I'd definitely visit again! Reservations recommended for larger groups!

Cookshop is very popular in my neighborhood and it is no debt that it is a great place to have a nice dinner date with friends and beloved one. The staff is very knowledgable and welcoming. The food is good however a little too much salty. The final dessert, toffee cake is exceptional and delicious. Dont share it and get your own plate ... that dessert is heaven !!

Came across Cookshop while looking for a close place for dinner after some fun at the driving range. Their drinks and appetizers are AMAZING and the highlight of the meal. The entrees were good, but didn’t stand up to how great our first course was. Would recommend stopping by if you’re going to be in the area!

Amazing meal here. I had the shrimp cocktail, which was more of a salad. The dressing was bright and tangy and paired perfectly with the seafood and salad veges. The hanger steak was amazing. Cooked perfectly and perfectly seasoned. The stringy fries were tasty, but a bit fiddly to eat - I think I would have preferred normal fries or a creamy mash. The photos of the food don't really do it justice. A fantastic meal, I'd go back again if I lived here.

Delicious spot for Brunch, lunch or dinner. Cookshop caters for all occasions and times of the day. All the menu items are carefully thought out to provide maximum flavour and eating experience. We've eaten here many times and every time they never disappoint. We even had our wedding dinner here, where the team went above and beyond to make our experience super special. The cocktails are great too! Friendly and very helpful staff who cater to all your needs. Be sure to book since they get very busy. Bathrooms out the back by the kitchen. Going with kids for dinner at 5pm is a good slot.

Cookshop in Chelsea was such a standout. The vibe is lively but easy, with a steady energy that feels both local and special. From the moment we walked in, Madison and Pierce at the front welcomed us with warmth and genuine kindness. They set the tone for the rest of the night. Edwin was fantastic with his recommendations, and Chef Luis came out personally to adjust my salad after I mentioned craving something like a Caesar. That level of attention is rare and made the whole experience feel personal and thoughtful. The focaccia with whipped ricotta was pillowy, warm, and perfectly salted. I absolutely loved the little gem lettuces and the grilled chicken breast, which was simple, juicy, and full of flavor. The corn was a big hit, and the roasted cauliflower was deeply caramelized and comforting. I didn’t love the tomato-braised Romano beans—they were a bit oily—and without me even asking, they took them off the bill. That gesture alone speaks volumes about the care this team puts into hospitality. I also asked for a surprise round of sauces, and they delivered a fun, creative little selection. Everyone we interacted with had a smile, and the whole evening felt easy and special. Cookshop is a place I’ll absolutely return to.

I visited this spot with my boyfriend in November 2024, and we had an amazing dinner experience. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with a clean interior and a cozy vibe. We walked in without a reservation and were told there would be a 25-30 minute wait, but we were seated in under 15 minutes, at most, on their heated outdoor patio. Still, it’s a good idea to make a reservation, as the place got pretty busy later on. The menu is seasonal, so it changes to feature fresh ingredients based on the time of year. We shared a few appetizers to start: - The Savoy spinach was super fresh and had a nice balance of flavors. - The grilled Carolina shrimp cocktail was cooked perfectly, with just the right seasoning. For our mains: I went with the Cookshop Burger, cooked medium rare, served with pickles, onions, and crispy fries. It was juicy and packed with flavor—definitely worth trying. My boyfriend had the fish, and he was very happy with his choice. We were satisfied with the portion sizes and had just enough room for dessert. Dessert: - We opted for the apple crisp, which had a delicious pecan streusel topping and a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream. The warm, crunchy topping paired perfectly with the soft apples, and the ice cream brought everything together nicely. Overall, the food was delicious, and the wine was excellent! We cleaned all our plates. The service was attentive and friendly. Prices were reasonable for the area, and we left feeling completely satisfied. We’ll definitely be back to try their brunch options!

I have been a customer for a few decades and this afternoon sealed it for me; why I continue to go back. What restaurant can deliver perfectly prepared muscles in a sensational and mouth watering red sauce; with perfectly toasted sourdough that soaks up this divine sauce with the most flavorful bread in a bowl of fresher than fresh muscles. - only Cookshoo! This is why they’ve been open and a neighborhood favorite for so long. Not to mention the sweet potato wedges I orders on the side. So sweet and so in season. Thank you !!! What a to-go, delivery order! Amazing!

Amazing food, perfectly cooked and all taste incredibly fresh and well sourced. They also serve a warm and trendy vibe inside, with plenty of seats outside too for warmer nights. We ordered these incredible dishes over a three course meal: 🔥 Artichoke starters 🧆 Short rib terrine 🔥 Half chicken roast (!!!) 🍔 Burger 🍰 Chocolate Cake 🧀 Firm goats cheese The chicken was probably one of the juiciest, most tender and succulent roast chicken I have had in a very long time.

Dropped by a few times now, never been disappointed! Good food and good vibes. They also open pretty late so you can get a pretty good feed even if you're out later in the evening. Their burgers are good, roast chicken is very moist and well cooked and if you're looking for a side, their roasted brussel sprouts are pretty tasty too. You'll definitely walk out full!

Every aspect our experience with Cookshop this evening was delightful, from the moment I called to make a reservation, to the moment we walked out the door. Genuinely friendly customer service all around. Atmosphere was simple and well-appointed, offering a warm welcome. And the beverages, too! Highly recommend!

Just had an awesome dinner here. While everything was great, the French fries stole the show of all things. And then the dark chocolate sorbet maybe tied. Also had the chills half lobster (as an app) and the Casarecce pasta. This wasn’t my first time here but it was my first time in a while that I’ve enjoyed French fries so much.

Went on a special date night. Couldn’t have asked for a better evening. First thing we noticed was the professional service right off the bat. Relaxed atmosphere and cozy dining area. The service continued to be top notch. Decent service is always nice but excellent service can really make a night feel special and it did. We have the stuffed squash blossoms, beefsteak tomatoes, scallops, pizza, liver mousse and three deserts. Don’t judge me! I really appreciated things coming out being thoughtfully timed. Especially when ordering that much food it was nice not to worry things were going cold. I had already heard from multiple people this place was it and they weren’t lying! We were able to get a table because we went early (5) but I definitely recommend reservations.

The only thing I didn't like about Cookshop is that I found it a tad overpriced for what one gets. Other than that, Cookshop was great. Didn't make it here for brunch, but with so many high reviews about it, I'm curious and will try it next time I'm in the city. Came here for an early dinner. It makes a great spot to eat before going to a bar for more drinks. Also makes for a nice dinner if you are going to see Sleep No More, which is just a stone throws away on foot. We went with some internet suggestions: vegetarian pizza and seafood options. I would recommend these as well. Turn the corner to the washroom and take a look at their impressive oven. It's...well...impressive.

This is a place where me and my friend just found on the street while busy brunch time, and I ordered red grapefruit yogurt as a meal. It was pretty filling and I really loved the taste. I don't usually like grapefruits because of its bitterness but this one didn't have that bitterness and all ingredients was well combined together. It's a bit pricy but the quality and taste of the food might be the reason. I'd like to come back for a proper meal next time.

Food was good! I ordered the scallops which were fairly basic. The steak was very good. Services was good, my first glass of water smelled weird (like a wet/not clean cloth was used to dry it) but other than that, good experience . Bourbon chocolate cake was Delicious!

The food was great and portions were decent. The restaurant was very busy so I recommend to making a reservation. The only thing I would say about it is that the waiter kept coming to our table before we were done with our drinks to take our plates and bring our cheque. I understood because it was very busy but I kind of felt rushed.

Fresh-take on Fresh New tastes, new flavor combinations - all prepared just right. Forono Beets not only combined excellent tastes and textures but was also beautiful to look at. The Skate fish was delicately prepared and terrific to taste. We were there early and the staff were both efficient and very friendly. The have outdoor and outdoor/indoor, both with heaters and indoor dining. Highly recommend.

Popular brunch location for the locals, reservations suggested or you'll find yourself waiting on average of 1/2 to 1 hour for walk in. The ambiance is good for large groups or a friendly brunch, too transactional feeling for a date. Servers are friendly and make great suggestions. The highlights are the chicken liver mousse, chicken salad, tequila bloody mary, and the grain bowl. The beignets are a little too heavy and cakey, the burger overcooked for "medium rare" (which is probably busy or understaffed kitchen?), oysters were suspiciously watery.

Cookshop is definitely one of my favorite weekend brunch spots. Always fun, good atmosphere and good food. Prices are fair, but the service levels may vary depending upon how busy it is, and it can get very busy so I recommend to making a reservation. They have a good selection of brunch menus and they use all fresh ingredients. The huevos rancheros is my favorite. Highly recommend!

A brunch restaurant near the high line in Chelsea serves good breakfast pastries and brunch menu. Atmosphere and service were great. All the food we ordered were fresh and great. Especially Huevos Rancheros was delicious as our server strongly recommend. The restrooms are in front of the kitchen so customers can see the open kitchen during waiting. A great location for a walk on the High Line after eating.

Good food but nothing to write home about. The service was good and we got seated fairly quickly on a busy Saturday for late lunch. Spicy Bloody Mary is certainly THAT. SPICY AF. (Not one to shy away from heat, but could only handle one of these). Burrata and French toast were amazing. Huevos rancheros with over cooked eggs though?! Try again please.

[4/5, New York, NY] Brunch at #cookshop. Watermelon sugar cocktail was great - would drink again. Food was above average. Burger was $23 and the baked eggs were $15 - quite expensive for this taste. Huevos Ranchos was also tasty. Beignets were also nice, light and fluffy. Would come back with friends but won’t come alone just to eat this.

Very true American place. It's been around for several years she survived the pandemic. The food is good and since they expanded with the outdoor service it's super nice most of all the good is regionally sourced which is nice. The burger was good and french fries 🍟 we're amazing. The side of smoked bacon 🥓 was fantastic. The local hard cider was nice and refreshing. We had the brunch but we heard dinner is better. We will be back.

Fun vibes with good brunch. The French toast was good, not the best I’ve had. It was also burning hot and waited a while longer to cool down. It got a bit overwhelming due to the large serving size after a few bites. Was a bit disappointed by the cocktail. The service was good despite the morning rush.

A great place for outdoor dining along the high line/west side of Manhattan. The service is attentive and atmosphere is fun but you’re not sitting on top of each person. Food is not value-for-money but tastes good. Plan for a starter or side as mains aren’t very filling.

Good brunch spot by the highline. Outdoor seating option but you might have to wait extra on a nice day. Food is fresh and good but not very cheap. The pulled pork croquettes were over spicy and not very tasty. The hash potatoes were also too spicy. Portions are ok size. Staff was very nice and accommodating for allergies and kids.

Fresh food, excellent service, and dog friendly 😊 Grabbed a quick dinner on a Thursday with a friend who has a service animal 🦮 and would definitely recommend. We got a salad, a burger, and a pasta which were all very good. If you are looking for a simple fresh salad I recommend the little gem lettuce, it was simply delicious. The server must’ve realized that we were sharing and served the burger cut in half and the fries separately. It was such a simple but appreciated thoughtfulness 🥹

Cookshop has a great menu with plenty of variety! Great appetizers and main dishes. I personally had the center-cut pork chop… and it was one of the best pork chops I’ve had in a while. And equally good, I had the heirloom tomato salad. While the service lacked in speed… the food made up for it. Will be back.

Overall good solid choice for dinner. Only minor qualms with small portion size. This is the type of place you would bring a picky close minded friend. They’ve got good staples and can accommodate pretty much any food mood you may be in !

Cookshop in Chelsea is a great spot for brunch. The food was awesome. The huevos rancheros were some of the best we’ve ever had. I got the falafel pita, which was super tasty and a fun surprise to see on a brunch menu. The place was packed, so we had to grab seats at the bar. Definitely recommend making a reservation. The staff was really friendly and on top of everything. The menu looks kind of simple at first, but everything that came out of the kitchen looked amazing, and what we had was seriously delicious. Also a solid choice if you’re going with a big group.

UPDATED 5/30/24 First time back in many years. The place still looks great and the service was very good. Food-wise it seems like their just riding off their popularity. Fair enough I guess. The best thing was the side salad with our sandwich which they were very kind to split for us with our asking. The ramp pizza was very bland. We added our own chili flakes and lemon powder to zhush it. Some of the ramp pieces were uncooked. We also had the asparagus grilled cheese which was fine. Again, note special. The sum of the parts did not make the whole better. There were some onions in it that you thought would have been tasty, but they were also flat.OLD REVIEW Cookshop is a bustling restaurant with lots of light and seasonal appointments throughout the space that I love. It's extremely busy for brunch. I've eaten there and at their other restaurants numerous times. The food is good. I recently had dessert there. The cheese plate, featured a lonely, small, overripe piece of cheese and a pear compote that looked like baby food. The flatbread that came with it were tasty. I felt it was not good value for the $14.00 price. One other hand our apple pie dessert was generous and delish.

Honestly wasn’t impressed. I think that the fresh produce such as veggies and herbs stood out, but the rest of the food was left to be desired. Presentation and staff were great! For the price and quality, NYC has so many better options.

Cookshop is a gorgeous restaurant with great service but the food left much to be desired. I did like that everything was farm to table, but the way the menu is laid out confused me; there was only 1 pizza and 1 pasta option, and there's a salad under "meat and poultry" assumedly because there's chicken in it? I had the Stonewall Sizzle and although the flavor was good, it was extremely muted because the glass was overflowing with ice; I could only drink it halfway before it just tasted like water. The arugula salad was *delicious* and flavorful to the last bite. The Cookshop burger was just okay. i would've liked it on better bread because the kind of brioche they used crumbled easily when I cut the burger in half. The raw milk cheddar didn't have much of a taste and the patty itself was a little on the dry side. Perhaps brunch here is better. My bill was about $56 and while I don't regret it, I doubt I'll return.

This is just over-complicated classic American diner fare. The service and aesthetic are excellent. The coffee is great, too. The seasonal ramps pizza (ramps being a relative of leeks, something new to me) was incredibly delicate and had an excellent depth of flavor given the simple construction. Plus, it was cool that the waiter could so knowledgeably recommend seasonal items. But for $24, if this had been my entree, I’d have been left feeling hungry for more. My coworkers and I split the dish. The tuna melt was also apparently seasonal, coming sandwiched between two slices of cranberry rye bread, and next to a plate of entirely unsatisfying vegetation. I don’t remember what it was, maybe radicchio, and I do love a good bright, fresh, crisp salad side dish. But the sandwich was small enough and didn’t at all live up to the aesthetic or bougie, im-better-than-your-usual-spot energy that the restaurant radiates with, and the bitter purple leaves didn’t necessarily help make me feel like I made the right choice. Don’t get me wrong: the food is good by all objective standards. That’s fair. However, given the prices, lack of creativity, and the need to “fix something that ain’t broke” mentality of the menu, I have a hard time recommending it to anyone. If you really want a taste of what the restaurant is trying to serve you, just go somewhere like Bubby’s in Tribeca. It’s not fundamental enough to go there in lieu of any other diner or bodega in the city and it’s not upscale enough for a special event. It’s just kind of there when it doesn’t quite need to be.

Came back on a weekday afternoon- It was not crowded and the atmosphere was nice. For an appetizer, we ordered the shrimp and melon. It was a hot and humid day and was really refreshing. The melon, cucumbers, shrimp and watermelon were drenched in a very delicious slightly spicy vinegar. This made the disappointment of the entree's all the more unexpected. I ordered the trout. It was smothered in thick rosemary - I don't even know how to explain it. It looked like moss on the fish. Also, it was sitting in a thick layer of olive oil. It was a thin piece of fish so this made feel slimy. It was weird. You can see it in the photos. The side of crispy potatoes were also drenched in oil and did not taste fresh. The chicken salad was very salty and the chicken was a bit undercooked - being mushy in the middle. It was also very salty, like a briny, saturated salty not an over- salting. The veggies - radishes, etc were good. I don't think I would return.

BE SURE TO LOOK CLOSELY AT YOUR BILL BEFORE PAYING IT! My son and I had quite tasty (albeit small) main courses with two sides while sitting at the bar. We had fun practicing our Spanish with the bartender, our server. We ordered two different desserts and were surprised they came with ice-cream, which we hadn't ordered. Our bartender indicated it was a gift and we were thinking what a nice gesture it was and what a great dining experience we were having...until the bill came. I looked it over and was confused to see a charge for the ice-cream. Our bartender busied himself doing other things while my son and I discussed this unexpected add on. Suddenly this bartender handed us a duplicate bill, this one excluding the cost of the ice-cream. It as pretty clear that had we not checked our bill, we would've paid for the ice-cream and it was also pretty clear that this was planned ahead of time. I wonder how often this bartender does this? I wonder if this is his gig or if the restaurant encourages this. I really hope it's not the latter. As we prepared ourselves to leave, the bartender stayed facing the register, careful not to face us. What could've been a 25% tip as a thank you, was a 20% tip given with a great deal of hesitation. What could've been two customers leaving on a high note, anxious to return, was instead one of feeling grossly disappointed in the moral character of the human who had served us and a strong reluctance to ever return.

Jenny Bawn

I got quinoa salad that was so small that I thought it was a side dish and seemed to have been marinated in salty vinaigrette for way too long. Plus, my waiter did not check on us or pour water once, while he was checking on the table next to us a dozen times. We also got our food about one hour after the table next to us got their food, though they came later than we. We had to flag down bus people to give us attention. Was it because he thought we won't tip him well, because of how we looked, dressed, or because of what, exactly? Well, he got what he deserved, and I didn't tip him, at all. This was the first time in over a decade I tipped zero on a server, so it says a lot. I'll never go back.

I have had 4 prior dinners here - all very solid dining experiences, but more than 2 years old. Food at "Cook"shop has undergone a lobotomy..6 underwhelming brussel sprouts spread in different corners for 14 USD..tasteless whitefish with inedible, stale bread - service was great - she took back the "sweet" potato that was just tasteless. Not first time she was hearing that..Burger ok, but really shameless this menu selection. What happened to the top chef and intriguing food on a little menu.. Times have changed here sorry to report
