Came here for dinner with some friends and it was spectacular. Filet mignon with moussaka is a must-try. They even gave us free dessert. Will definitely be back again!
One of my new favorite restaurants. The food is amazing. I had the lamb shank and stuffed bell pepper. My only complaint is they have no high chair. So not the most baby friendly spot.
Got the tabbouleh, octopus, beet & garlic labneh, and cauliflower fritters — we enjoyed everything! I think the fritters had a little too much batter on them, but otherwise so delicious! Definitely order the tabbouleh.
Absolutely phenomenal, home made Palestinian cooking. Everything from scratch, including the baked goods (sesame bread, pita, and hand pies). Even our 3.5 year old loved his meal. Beautiful room and atmosphere, friendly staff. Only comparable hummus I’ve ever had was freshly picked in Silwan. Can’t wait to come back
Great food. We had the octopus with hummus, and sumac chicken. Octopus was tender. Hummus was okay. Sumac chicken was really flavorful. Kunafa for dessert. I’ve had a lot of kunafa and heads up, it’s more delicate than typical, but I actually enjoyed it.
Had an amazing dinner with a vegan friend here— between the dips, bread, fattoush salad and cauliflower fritters we had an amazingly flavorful plant based meal! The outdoor dining is on the sidewalk and not under one of those unpleasant wooden huts on the street which I appreciated. Proud to support a Palestinian establishment now more than ever
My wife and I stumbled upon Qanoon after walking up high line. We had just come from the Amy Sherald exhibit at the Whitney. I must say two things: (1) 🇵🇸 we love you and (2) thank the greater being for allowing us to come across Qanoon. Every single dish we had was absolutely delicious. The chicken. The lamb. The appetizers. The hummus. Chef’s kiss. Complements to the chef. We will be back!
I was sure this spot couldn't live up to the talk, but now I'm planning my next visit. This place has created a distinctive scene. Restaurant staff demonstrate menu expertise and outstanding customer care. The menu features great-tasting food made with fresh ingredients. This spot deserves to build a following.
Delicious food and great service! The lamb shank and octopus over hummus were delicious. Also, best stuffed grape leaves I’ve ever had!
I can't believe how delicious it was. I had the ShishBarak (Palestinian Gnocchi) It was some of the best best food I've ever had. Super fresh ingredients, light on the stomach but so filling. Will definitely be back.
Great Palestinian food! Beautiful interior. Every dish was delicious - i wish we were more people so we could try everything. After polishing off the amazing fried cauliflower and muhammara, we hardly had room for the wonderful chicken musakan, labneh, shrimp and hummus. We also got a great bottle of wine made in Taybeh, by Palestinian (Christians) who have been able to produce it despite the brutal Israeli military occupation.
This is a gem: great food, excellent cocktails, a cozy atmosphere and attentive service. Reservations suggested: we went on a Thursday night at 6:30 and they could squeeze us in only if we promised to finish in 90 minutes. The eggplant was roasted with pomegranate seeds and other crunchy ingredients; the chicken fell off its little bones.
Very authentic Palestinian dishes. Great service and Atmosphere. All the dishes were great but make sure to order the Makloubeh for main and Knafeh for dessert.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Quality meals every time. Mujaddars croquettes were crispy and flavorful. Musakhan chicken was cooked to perfection, juicy and smothered in traditional herbs and spices. Kanafeh is so crispy and gooey and delicious with the rosewater syrup is divine. Fills my belly and my soul. Thank you!
The food here is authentic Palestinian flavors🇵🇸 and super delicious! The maqloobeh is my favorite, followed by the fish and the musakhan. Make sure you accompany your meal with a nice Palestinian or Lebanese wine that you will likely have difficulty finding in the U.S. The kunafe is a MUST for dessert! 🤌🏽
This was the most AMAZING FOOD I’ve had in the genre of middle eastern. I would highly recommend it to anyone. We had the TABBOULEH to start with and it was so fresh and cleansed the palette well for the rest of our meal. For dinner we shared the MAKLOUBEH and MUSAKHAN. The musakhan’s chicken was a little dry but the flavor was good and the onions flavorful. The MAKLOUBEH was DIVINE. It was so creamy and the rice tasted like goat meat with the meat melting in your mouth. It really lifted my spirits after being outside in the cold and rain. Service is prompt and nice and the location is intimate. Would be a great place for a date or to catch up with friends over a great meal. Will definitely be back!!
The restaurant was cute and charming. We came here after visiting Little Island. The food here was super delicious! It is an excellent place to come with a group of friends as everything is shareable. We didn't know much about what to order, so we trusted our waiter completely, and he was spot on. We had the muhammara (For The Table) to start as we waited for our dishes to arrive. For the 4 of us, we shared mujaddara croquette, chili & garlic shrimp, and fried kibbeh as appetizers. We then shared makloubeh (lamb stew) and musakhan (chicken) as main courses. Wow!!! The makloubeh was so juicy and tender. The musakhan was really good too..but I was a bit too full by then to really enjoy it. And don't forget the dessert - knafeh. The best part about the whole experience - it was relatively inexpensive!!!
My favorite Sunday brunch in Chelsea. Spacious place with a lot of sunlight. Home-y vibes in every corner. I tried the family brunch with a group of friends trying Palestinian food for the first time and we loved it!!! My favorites are the octopus with hummus, the baked Ijjeh, and halloumi cheese with watermelon.
A very special place. Tomas and the team are pure class. If you’re new to the cuisine, follow their recommendations - and make sure you’re hungry
Great food, especially the chicken. Great service, music and decor. Took home a bottle of fresh spicy olive oil.
This restaurant is absolutely delicious, and a bit unique. So many authentic dishes to try. The lintel soup, kofta, and musakhan were wonderful. The West Bank, “Star of Bethlehem” red went perfect with our meals. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Will definitely be back to try some more amazing food.
As a Palestinian, I'm delighted to see authentic Palestinian cuisine on the culinary map in a global city like NYC. I visited Qanoon yesterday and the food was delicious: great midpoint between a family-style meal I'd have at home and what would cater to the mainstream urban palate. Nice use of spices and a reasonable proportion of food, especially if you're splitting dishes with others. There's also a nice selection of desserts. The knafeh was delicious (I'm particular about the amount of syrup that is often poured onto this dessert, so it was nice that there was a self-serving cup of syrup included). An interesting texture and approach to this dessert. The ambiance was pretty consistent to other small/ethnic restaurants in Chelsea. It was not excessively loud, and the volume of the Arabic music being played was just right. There were several Fayrouz songs that played, so the experience is authentically Arab with a modern touch. The service was great and the workers were friendly. Give it a try.
Amazing food, great service and cool vibe. Had four appetizers- all of which were outstanding. The chili & garlic shrimp - spicy and fresh with a crispy crunchy topping - was a standout. Could have had several servings of these all by themselves. The cauliflower fritters had a savory breading and the florets were cooked yet still firm. First time having labneh which was thick and creamy and topped sautéed mushrooms. Heavenly! The hummus was smooth and the pita was the perfect balance of soft and not too thick or spongy. The watermelon martini was bright and fresh and complimented the flavors of the food. Will definitely be back.
The food was fantastic! Every dish was memorable in both flavor and presentation. The Palestinian white wine and the red wine from Gaza paired perfectly with the food. I will be thinking about the Tabbouleh until I eat it again—the addition of preserved lemon and pomegranate seeds made it unique and fresh. Three of us came for dinner and sampled a couple of appetizers, mains and desserts. We all loved all of it. The service was friendly and just the right amount of attentive, and the place was cute. We will be back.
Always fresh amazing food with kind service the atmosphere is perfect for friends catching up or romantic evening by the fire place. Such a neighborhood gem.
One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. The food is fantastic and truly unique, and the friendly staff always has spot-on recommendations for specials and wine. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, with cool music that sets the perfect tone (great for a date night).
Great little spot with friendly staff. Fattoush salad was refreshing, soft puffy pita, and an amazing labneh. The Pakistani coffee was a nice finish.
This is the best Mediterranean restaurant in Manhattan!!, and not like other gimmicky Mediterranean restaurants in Manhattan. I’ve been an Arab for long time (since I was born, ;)), and my experience in Mediterranean food is so extensive. I visit Qanoon regularly on weekends for brunches. Qanoon brings the best ingredients, not to mention the chef’s touch, Tarek Daka, that make the food so authentic just like the Middle East. The menu is so diverse and full of unique dishes that you won’t find them anywhere here.If you want to have a real Mediterranean culinary experience, this is the place!!!
I ordered the baba ganough as an appetizer. The addition of pomegranate really complimented the smoked eggplant. For entree I ordered the octopus over hummus. This was the most unique octopus I've ever tried. The layers of texture with the softness of the hummus, the just barely chewy octopus, and the slivered almond crunch not only made for a wonderful combination of textures, but also the flavor combinations were amazing. The dish had boiled plum tomatoes and squid ink which made the presentation a culinary work of art. The waiter recommended the knafeh for dessert. Again the presentation and flavor were out of this world. It was topped with pistachio and pomegranate, along with a rose and spice infused syrup. The Palestinian coffee was a perfect balance of coffee and cardamom. The ambiance is peaceful with plenty of light and green plants. The music is a beautiful assortment of Palestinian folk music. The wait staff were courteous and professional.
One of the best spot in NYC so far. We like to be adventurous and try different ethnic foods. We’re Italian, we know that when it comes to “exported cuisines”, a lot is lost in translation, in this case everything was good at a level of which, if it’s not the same as the original, it might even be better. We just followed host recommendations, we ordered baked sesame seed in crusted feta and figs which was outstanding, mujaddara, octupus over tomatoes and knafeh. The Palestinian wine was the perfect match. Host super kind and ready to explain/suggest. Service fast. Location (outdoor) quiet and comfortable. Definitely coming back next time in NYC!
Stumbled upon Qanoon one night and have been back 3 times in 1 month—it’s simply outstanding. The atmosphere, the food, the STAFF!! We can’t say enough good things.
Came here for lunch today and had a lovely meal! I had a coffee with cardamom in it, which was strong and flavorful. We ordered hummus and pita, the Arayes sandwich (fried pita with ground beef and pickled onions) and the frittata with feta and mint. Everything was flavorful and delicious. The decor inside the restaurant is tasteful as well. Would definitely come again!
Came here early—5:30pm on a Wednesday, it wasn’t crowded but there were several people there. It’s a cool atmosphere, chill good music and unique decor. The food was PHENOMENAL. The hummus was so fresh, the Kofta so juicy and flavorful, and the sumac chicken was deliciously tangy with warming spices, perfectly crispy on the outside and moist inside. The dessert Knafeh was unlike anything I’ve ever had—a cheese crusted in crumbs with all my favorite flavors (rose, pomegranate, pistachio) combined. Service was kind and attentive. My Indian husband loves middle eastern food and was also very pleased, which is hard to do. Keep in mind it is a pretty pricey dinner, but a tasty time.
Meddierainean food with a unique touch from mixing different ingredients and spices different from other restaurants I've tried. Favourites were the cauliflower fritters, roasted eggplant, and kunefe. Their kunefe is the best I've tried in NYC (beat a Turkish restaurant where I last thought was the best) as the phyllo covering is perfectly slow cooked, not burnt at all. It matches well with the chewy cheese, topped with crushed pistachios and pomegranate seeds. Most importantly and unique from all kunefe I've tried is that they put the sugar syrup on the side so it can be made without sugar!
An amazing restaurent in Manhattan, very delicious authentic mainly Palestinian and Lebanese dishes. The hummus was very yummy, the mujadareh fried balls was very innovative and using freekeh instead of rice was beyond my expectations. Meanwhile for the main dishes the kuftah with Sesame paste and chicken muskhan were very tasty. Highly recommended for those foodies looking for unique experience and authentic food.
The kitchen creates food that makes you pay attention. The team made sure our visit would stand out. The food shows consistent excellence. Staff members smile often and the place has a nice vibe. I plan to become a regular customer here.
Really good Mediterranean fusion, with a Palestinian bent. A bit pricey, but the quality is definitely worth it. Creative menu items with authentic influence. Particularly loved the Muhammara and herby pita. The lamb kofta was amazing. It came with lots of veggies, super-rich tahini, and a delicious aromatic rice. Tried the sage tea, now it's a new favorite. I hope to see an equally interesting cocktail menu once the liquor license comes through!
My boyfriend and I went for dinner last night. We were pleasantly surprised that they were also participating in restaurant week so we went with the restaurant week menu. We got the shish barak and warak inab for appetizers, both were so good. For entrees we got the lamb and chicken since our waiter recommended it and both were fantastic. Portion sizes were pretty big, my bf and I could not finish the entrees so we got them packed and also the desserts packed to go since it was a lot of food. We will definitely be going back and trying other dishes!
Delicious, delicious, delicious!!!!! Had the most amazing dinner here the other night with a group of friends…. The chicken was incredible , the Palestinian cheesecake was CRAZY AMAZING, the olive oil perfection, the pita was doughy and warm!! Ahh! I can’t say enough good things! Can’t wait to go back!
I absolutely loved this Palestinian restaurant. The food was incredibly flavorful, fresh, and authentic—every dish was prepared with so much care and tradition. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. This is definitely a place I would come back to again and again. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy amazing Palestinian cuisine.
I was served by a terrific waiter from Morocco. He was very friendly and helped me decide on my order. His recommendations were great. MUJADDARA CROQUETTE: Green lentil and rice croquette, makdous, caramelized onions, bechamel, feta - tenderly crisp outside, and warm and soft inside with a please and slightly tangy sauce. MUSAKHAN: Sumac chicken, red onion, olive oil, almonds over flat bread - generous serving, red onions were just slightly cooked with still a bit of the good raw flavor, the sliced almonds adds a nice focus and but it's crunch, flatbread was good and kept it's consistency without getting soggy Both were excellent, and I was full, so I ordered dessert takeout for later: Homemade Knafeh (also excellent) Atmosphere was nice. Kinda chic-y, but noise level was a bit high.
Celebrated my father’s birthday here and he absolutely loved his dinner. We sang him happy birthday and the entire restaurant joined in and it was a beautiful moment. I booked a table here because a friend of mine celebrated his birthday here a few weeks prior with about 20 guests. The food is simply delicious and the service is 10/10. They are all kind, funny, accommodating, and great energy. Love this restaurant.
Love the menu and authenticity. Very skilled and professional star. Food was delightfully quick but still made well. Portions were relatively small but that just allowed us to order more. I just love how authentic and proud this place is all around. Chic chill setting on top of that. Wetriesd more than half a dozen dishes, the muhammara was shockingly tender grilled chicken. The octopus was the best I had it was unlike octopus I had anywhere else, and the fattoush salad with the pomegranate was certainly notably nice.
This Palestinian restaurant is a gem in Chelsea. Popped by for lunch and had an amazing experience. The food is authentic with a distinct character. The vibes were extraordinary. Comfy, cozy and perfect for a meal with family or friends. Highly recommend the Knaffeh cheesecake, it will change your life.
My friends and I went here for dinner and we had an INCREDIBLE time. The food was DIVINE, the staff ANGELIC, and the atmosphere SO CHARMING. We got the tabuleh salad, baba ganoush, muhamara, octopus with hummus, zatar bread , shrimp and crab something salad-ish thing, and a feta cheese thing, and everything SLAPPED my in the face is couldn’t stop eating until we finished it all. You MUST come here when visiting NYC.
Attentive service and really took great care of our two year old toddler. They gave her watermelon to keep her busy as we dinned. Spot on & unique cocktails. If in NYC on a food trip, add Qanoon to your list of must try spots. If parents with young kids, you’ll be treated well. They have a high chair.
One of my partner and I’s, favorite spots in NYC! It’s incredible! It’s delicious and fresh! The pomegranate on everything was such a refreshing and nice touch! The service was good. Of course the vegan options were plentiful! The hummus here was so good my partner and I ordered another!
A Palestinian restaurant near Chelsea Market. The food is outstanding, we ended up ordering a few appetizers and entrèes to share. Highly recommend the Octopus over Hummus and the Knaffe. They have a decent wine list but carry some rare Palestinian and Lebanese wines made with ancient grape varieties. The service is fast and attentive and they have outside seating available. We had a separate kids table with combined cheque's which was handled well. Atmosphere is typical of a clean NYC restaurant with some cushioned seating to showcase cultural background. Overall a great place to dine at reasonable prices.
We hosted a company dinner here. The food was delicious and had plenty of vegetarian options! The service was solid. The biggest problem for a work dinner was that the music indoors is loud, so it’s not easy to talk beyond the person you’re sitting next to. We should’ve opted to sit outside instead. Great for a date night, just consider volume for work dinners.
Food was very flavorful and savory. It was cozy inside, had nice music. Highlight were the dips and pita was included! The eggplant beet special on toast was the best item. They were pushy about how long we were there, they were clear they wanted to turnover the table and rushed our two person table out. There was an empty table right next to us.
Qanoon is such a charming spot. The space is beautifully done and has a cozy, welcoming vibe. We went on a rainy Saturday for brunch, and it felt like the perfect place to huddle in and enjoy good food. We started with drinks. The watermelon juice was refreshing, and the Arabic coffee with cardamom was wonderfully aromatic. I only wish the coffee came in a larger portion, as it was quite small and I ended up ordering it twice. Next came the dips. The Muhammara, the eggplant dip with peppers and pomegranate molasses, was finger-licking good, and the Hummus was smooth and satisfying. For the main dishes, the Kalyet Bandorah (Egg plant Shakshuka)...it was satisfying and flavorful, though might have overdone it on the eggplant that day. The Mankoushe...flatbread with zaatar and topped with vegetables, was a highlight. The zaatar on warm bread was a total game changer. Service was decent and attentive, though nothing extraordinary. Overall, Qanoon is a super cute restaurant with delicious Middle Eastern flavors, perfect for a cozy brunch or casual night out. It I would definitely come back for the zaatar flatbread and the coffee alone.
Went for dinner and luckily got a table without making a reservation. The place is dark, they place small lamps to provide some light. The octopus hummus was good, i liked the octopus more than the hummus. I ordered the roasted eggplant with pomegranate and it was just okay. The baba ghanoush was my least favorite but try it for yourself. My boyfriend loved the makloubah and his cousin liked the kofta. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back but if I were to be invited by a friend, I wouldn’t mind. Service was nice and bathrooms are kept clean.
Went to this place for team dinner. Interiors were warm and cozy, loved the vibe. Since we were 7 of us, we had to go for family style pre-fixed menu. They have Palestinian lager and ipa. The food was delicious, especially Muhammara, Bruschetta with figs and Musakhan chicken entree. From the 4 desserts on the menu, Tiramisu with the Mediterranean twist and the Pistachio ice-cream were great. They replaced an appetiser Octopus on Hummus with fried kibbeh without informing us and didn’t let us know until we asked and when we requested them to replace one of the dessert on the pre-fixed menu with Tiramisu, it was a straight no, which I thought wasn’t fair. They charged us extra for the other desserts, but we ordered them anyways. Good experience overall!
The food here was quite good. Great atmosphere as well. The only detraction was the service. It felt rushed and more like a counter-service restaurant. They also really shouldn't require people to place their order all at once as that shouldn't be expected in a restaurant that charges these prices.
Had croquettes, steak & eggs, baba ghanoush, labneh and mint lemonade all were fantastic. You can order from the regular menu during brunch.
Hubby and I came here for brunch last week on a Sunday morning. The place was still empty and we had an outdoor table. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was served fast. I liked the Shaksuka and Babaganoush. My husband found the french toast average. Overall good experience for an early Sunday brunch.
Great middle-east food with strong Palestinian influence. The chicken was juicy, and the rice with mutton was yummy and excellent! The only minor issue here is the background music was on a louder end to me, making conversation quite exhausting. They might be short of staff on the evening I was there. Only one major waiter was servicing, taking the order and cleaning.
We had a lovely dining experience at qanoon. From the appetizers to the mains to the unique and delicious desserts. Our favorites were the cauliflower fritters and the bruschetta with the fig on top. The sumac chicken and rice with lamb were just too good. We tried the kanafeh - which was delicious and the tiramisu, also excellent! Must visit
I came here at 8pm on a Thursday night with a reservation and the place was at about 80% capacity. The food and service were good. I liked their pita and ended up ordering extra! I also liked the vibe of the place a lot. It felt causal and comfortable. I wouldn’t travel to get to this restaurant and try it, but if you live in the neighborhood, you should check it out.
This restaurant had charm and a delightful little menu. The staff is rude and awkward. There were no recommendations on the menu when asked, they couldn’t course out the menu, they were constantly rearranging the table and picking up our glasses by the top, and they asked us to leave 15 minutes before closing - then ensured we waited outside for our cars when it wasn’t even closing time.
The food was fine, but hit or miss. The octopus on hummus was by far my favorite, because the octopus was so well cooked and seasoned. The muhamarra dip was too sour and sweet. The eggplant and mushroom entree was fine, but the combined flavors were on top of one another. Same with the chili shrimp. The spinach pie was dry and almost empty, no good. The tables are too close together, and they tend to pack people in one corner even when it isn't busy.
High hopes, disappointing delivery. Portions were comically small, the wine was genuinely unpleasant, and the food itself was just okay. Not worth the visit.
We visited as a group of three, but our table was initially set for only two. Unfortunately, the staff didn’t notice, so we had to bring over a chair ourselves and request a third place setting after the food arrived. The food itself was flavorful, but the portion sizes were quite small considering the price point. We didn’t feel fully satisfied with the amount served. We also asked for some extra bread during the meal and were a bit surprised to see it added to the bill — $1.50 for a few extra pieces felt unnecessary, as this is typically complimentary at many restaurants. The atmosphere was nice, but overall, the service and value for money could be improved. We appreciate the experience, but we’re not sure we’d return.
Extremely loud (no conversations to be had here) + the waiter was pretty rude. Also, nothing wrong with what follows, but it does seem to undermine the branding/marketing: not a Palestinian-owned business. It's something like the owner/chef's grandmother on one side is from Palestine.
Did not like it. The hummus was bitter and the fried kibbeh were cold + flaky. The makloubeh was fine. Pricing seemed rather unreasonable for the food quality - $36 for a small portion of makloubeh (cup size), $16 for two kibbeh pieces. To be fair, there were quite a few people at the place, suggesting it’s liked by some! The service was great and so was the ambiance.
Highly discourage going here if you're vegan. - It took 45 minutes before they asked for our drink order. - The menu doesn't have any labeled vegan items. I asked the server who was extremely rude about it and didn't want to help me find something that I could eat. - They included an extra drink on our bill that we didn't order.
I went to this place 3 times. Every single time they were rude. The food was fine but I thought I just kept getting unlucky. The third time I decided this place isn’t worth it anymore. Why they think they can just be so casually rude I’m not sure.
