The soft pretzels with mustard dipping sauce were good. The french fries with aïoli were quite good as well. The French onion soup was well seasoned, caramelized onions without being overdone. The pesto pasta was quite flavorful without being overbearing. The flatbread margarita pizza was quite good with a balsamic reduction sauce on it. The Caesar salad dressing was adequate. They tolerated our kids well. The ice cream and sorbet seemed good as well. The vegetarian potstickers were quite flavorful and crispy.
One of the most under appreciated spots in the upper valley! Great beer brewed on site, delicious cocktails, burgers are superb, and an authentic northern New England inn in historic Norwich, VT!
Absolutely great place. Classic New England Inn with semi-formal dinning, an inviting casual pub, sitting rooms, a front porch full of rocking chairs, patio dining, a hop garden, and a wonderful tradition-driven brewery that happens to be one of the oldest in Vermont. Been coming here for my birthday for 20 years.
They have added a lot of outdoor seating which is great for those still wanting to dine outside! The food is great and their French fries are to die for. For an extra dollar you can upsize a mixed drink and their local beers are great.
While traveling on business we stopped for a quick lunch mid afternoon. Had a couple beers and before you know it decided to spend the night instead of driving south. Bar food was good, everyone friendly. Met a local who invited us to see maple syrup being boiled down. Called on the way back since we needed dinner and the kitchen was closing. The staff told us they would wait don't worry. Clean room, exactly what I hoped for in a B&B. Breakfast was also good in the dining room. Will be back with my wife.
A cute little inn in a cute little town. The rooms are pricey but we treated ourselves and weren't disappointed. Ended hanging out at the bar all night: the bartender, wait staff, and owner were all helpful and knowledgeable. They went out of their way to make us feel at home, including bringing a cheese knife to us for the whistling pig cheese we bought at the Inn! We managed to have fun even though the Sox lost horribly. Get the strawberry rhubarb pie, if offered. It was the best!
Met family who were staying at the Inn for dinner. Menu is American and pub oriented to go with the beers they brew across the street. We got a collection of dishes from fish and chips to a chicken banh mi, to a gnocchi. Their soup was a corn chowder so we tried that too. Portions were generous and everything tasted good. Our server - Morgan - was a hoot and made the dinner very enjoyable.
Mediocre food, not great (in-house) beer. Hostess/manager was nice though. Decor was festive for the holidays.
Admittedly, we ordered salads as entrees and chose a 10” Brooklyn style pizza as an app. We added onion rings as a shared side for our salads. We had chocolate lava cake for desert. Food was good! The salad was big enough for an entree and delicious. Cake was a little underwhelming. Ambiance was adorable, actually impressive. Wait staff was wonderful. A little pricy but not disappointing. Would go back.
They keep odd hours, so suggest calling ahead of time. Best dishes are the pasta dishes. I also appreciate the write-up on the limited beer list that is available. ‐----------- Updating review to remove a star. The prices seemed to have gone up while everything else has gone down. There are better dinning options in short 3 minute drive in Hanover.
Very limited menu. Had chicken wings that were not very juicy. So so French fries and pot stickers that were very chewy. Had draft beer which we should have asked for a sample before ordering as it was not to our liking. Overall very expensive for quality of food. Best part was setting out in patto was very pleasant and relaxing.
The place has a lot of character and history but the food was bland and expensive. The service was professional and courteous. The selection of beer and wine was satisfactory but nothing to rave about. Making a reservation also seemed a bit more complicated than necessary given there were open tables the entire time we dinned.
My husband and I took my parents out here for a Mother’s Day dinner. I really wish we had gone somewhere else- for the price we paid the meals were NOT worth that cost. The fish and chips, Mushroom burger and warm Brussel salad were all just fine (nothing to write home about). However, the most disappointing was my husband’s filet minion. It was maybe about a 2oz serving for $40. He also asked for an alternative to the side a butternut squash, which he still received on his plate. It was fine since it’s not an allergy or anything, but his “substitute” of a side was meant to be some fingerling potatoes and it looked and tasted like day old breakfast potatoes that had been reheated. We knew from previous reviews it may be hit or miss, and unfortunately our experience was definitely a miss and we do not plan to ever return here.
Staff was nice, food was meh at best. Drinks took longer than necessary on a slow Sunday night. We started with the pretzel sticks which were delicious. For the mains, we ordered two salmons which were delicious. A salad with chicken that was expensive when compared to the ingredients on the plate. The last was a Sheppards pie that had so much liquid in it, that it looked like unprocessed baby food. That dish was suppose to come with brussel sprouts on the side. We got a tiny dish with 9 marble sized sprouts. Yes, we counted. The dish was tiny and the amount of brussel sprouts barely filled it. That dish was sent back due to its less than appeasing look and taste, and was replaced with a main course salad the size of a side salad and was still $18. Won’t be returning anytime soon.
Unfortunately, both the meat and veggie burgers were dry, bland, and too expensive for what they were: cooked up frozen patties plopped onto dry untoasted buns without any kind of sauce. Beers were also mediocre, just a bit "off" somehow. That said, there was nice outdoor seating and staff were attentive and professional.
Don't waste your money, the food is not worth it!! The prices are outrageous for what you get. I ordered a shrimp salad and the shrimp was cold with no flavor and the salad seemed like it came from a bag from the local grocery store. The place is nice inside but that's it.
