I had the sweet and sour chicken, fried rice and egg rolls. It was delish! The food tasted fresh and had nice flavours. Also tried the Wonton soup...oh my goodness. I have never tasted anything like this. Full of flavour, huge dumplings and veggies. The place has been remodeled inside and the staff are friendly and happy. My go to place for Chinese food!

Exactly what Chinese food should taste like. The sweet and sour chicken was perfect; crunchy on the outside but juicy and tender on the outside. Well priced and excellent timing with service. The interior is cozy and decorated excellently in its culture.

I've been all around ca from eureka to LA and everything in between. This is tasty, affordable, and about as authentic as I could find. There lunch and combination plates are a must try.

I worked in food service most of my life so I'm rather picky about quality and service. I usually go to another place in town which has been here for many years, but I found a new favorite here. I love how they offer entrees separately or for a little more, in a combination plate with egg roll, chow mein and fried rice. The quantity and quality of food is amazing for the price. It took them about 50 mins to make the order and they told me 45 mins but they were very busy so that was ok. I am definitely coming back here.

I ordered my food on door dash it was supposed to be delivered at a certain time. That time past by and when I clicked on the app it says oops! We are experiencing a Difficulty. We called Golden Star and they apologized and personally delivered the food to our home. The owner also said they would deal with door dash for payment. I waited on hold with door dash forever and no one answered. We tipped the actual driver of Golden Star and want to let everyone know they had great service.

Absolutely amazing food and quantity. I ordered one side of the Mongolian Beef, Pepper Beef, and chicken- chow mein and there is enough to feed 3 people with each side! Ordered through door dash arrived promptly and steaming hot! Highly recommended 👌

I have been here a few times now for different settings. Once was a fairly large take out order. The second time was comfort soup, and this most recent time was a dine in experience. Each and every time, I have been greeted with such enthusiasm. My order has always been correct and delivered in a timely fashion. My dine in experience was fantastic. We show up, we were immediately seated, couple if minutes, the waitress was there taking our food order, and what seemed like a short time, we had our food. Not once were we bothered with "how is your food" while our mouths were full. We were given our check WITH our take out boxes. The food was super tasty and full of flavor in everything they served. I highly recommend this place!

The food was fresh and delicious. The soup was so tasty and everyone loved what they ordered. I definitely will be going back. The waitress didn't bother us by constantly asking how everything was like most waiters do, they are really friendly and respectful. It was a comfortable and pleasant experience.

I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. Probably the best egg rolls I've ever had. The updated look is nice too. We've been looking for a good chinese food place ever since our favorite one close . I am pretty sure we found our spot. Everything was very fresh and good. The fried foods were done beautifully. Nothing tasted like it was freezer food. All the vegetables were fresh and well cooked. The soup was tasty, especially the hot and sour. The server was friendly and very attentive.

1st time in since the remodel and new owners. It is a welcome updated decor with a nice looking long bar with a quasi sports bar kinda feel with two large TV's up over the bar. All seating is brand new with a really neat looking larger table to the left of the entrance as you go in. Service was VERY prompt, friendly and helpful with some money saving suggestions on larger orders. The food was very tasty, fresh and well made. We got the family "B" dinner for 4 and it easily fed 2 adults and 4 kids. We'll be back!

Driving through Redding and walked in for a Wonton Soup order. The lady that rang me up was very kind & the soup was delicious with plenty of Wontons and veggies, I didn’t even share it. Even tho I didn’t eat there, the atmosphere was very inviting and pleasant.

Each order was different but each individual order of food was absolutely delicious, even short on staff they were still prompt on service. The price range was okay it definitely wasn't the most expensive out there and affordable. This is definitely going to be one of my returns to places I look forward to eating there again.

Absolutely love this place. Pretty affordable for the quality & portions. They definitely have moments of being a tad slow nothing super bad but around peak times expect some delays here and there but not always. Overall solid.

We had Mongolian beef and kung pao prawns on the lunch specials. The vegetables were fresh and not soggy. The only small thing we would liked to have had was sweet and sour and hot mustard for our egg rolls. We though our lunch was great and at a good price. We will definitely be going back!

Stopped here for lunch on a Wednesday. Place was quiet, had a pleasant vibe. I had the lunch special. The soup of the day was delicious--lots of flavor, hearty and hot. Got the chicken and vegetables, and they nailed the flavors. Great food, will be back again :)

The food is very good and reasonable prices. It's great to have a Chinese restaurant in this location as it is very easy to find. Parking is in the back but easy to get to. Just drive down the small alley that's before the entrance. Try the excellent Chow fen (thick) noodles!

Server was just amazing and overall genuinely nice she got to us quick to make sure we are doing ok or needed anything. Did not have to wait long at all for food or service im impressed.

We just discovered the Golden Star tonight! I was able to order online before we even got to the restaurant and our food was waiting for us! The best dish was the egg foo young! Big egg patties with a delicious sauce and veggies. Our selections were all vegetarian, but each dish had different flavors. The servings were very large, and they even brought us a small piece of chocolate cake at the end. We had egg rolls and 4 selections and it was$42 before the tip. We definitely will be going back. Also no MSG!

General Tso chicken, sweet & sour pork and the fried rice were all good with generous portions. Out of state folks: please, please be aware that restaurants and the delivery services in CA are forbidden to just include napkins, silverware, plates etc. You must ASK for them! I wish we'd known that ahead of time, thankfully our hotel has napkins and silverware!

Sounds bad I know but they use what to much vegetables I ordered Mongolian beef and literally there was like 5 pieces of steak good flavor just when I was done the plate looked like what it did when they brought it out minus the rice.

I ordered Kung Pao Vegetables and Prawns with Garlic Sauce. The vegetables seemed fresh and the flavor was good. I consumed without rice. I would have given 5 stars which is why I took the photos, however, an hour after consuming I was bloated and uncomfortable. I figured it was probably just the salt and the nature of the nature of the cuisine. The following morning I was sick to my stomach and hours later am still battling nausea. Although it had seemed like I had purchased a quality product, because of the after-effects I will not be returning.

Beautiful restaurant, friendly, amazing staff. Exceptional service! The only reason that I'm not giving it 5 stars is that the food was not flavorful. It was pretty bland. And, my husband ordered the hot and sour soup and it tasted like tin...like it came straight from a tin can!

The staff here are good at following directions and we’re polite over the phone. The prices are average for family style Chinese food. The actual food, however, I found wanting. The general chicken was probably the only decent dish out of the group that I ordered. The breading was a bit much, but that’s usually the case with pre-frozen meat at most restaurants. Taste wise, I liked it, but it’s not something I can eat a lot of because it does get overpowering. The green beans in the shrimp with green beans was very uncooked. The shrimp itself was overcooked and the green beans were basically raw. I had to pick out the shrimp and recook the green beans myself. The shrimp was very rubbery and tasted too fishy (fresh shrimp does not taste this way). The green beans were likely frozen before cooking, based on the texture and color. Personally I think having fresh green beans or at least regularly refrigerated ones is not too hard an ask. The Mei Fan tasted ok, a little greasy, and the added texture of the extreme amount of beansprouts they added did nothing to enhance the flavors. In fact, it would have been better if they were not there. The beef in the Mei Fan was chewy like gum. Lastly, the steamed rice was a bit soggy, but it was edible. Overall, I probably won’t eat here again. If I had any advice to the restaurant, it would be to put more explanations into the menu on what each item is/has in it. I found myself very confused because some of the food titles were not indicative of what was actually in the food (with the exception of the main meat or vegetable). For example, if I had known there were bean sprouts in the Mei Fan, I would have asked that it not be put in. If you do eat here, I’d consider choosing more American-styled dishes, since those dishes seem to lean towards the better tasting/prepared side.

No masks required, so unsafe. Food was good, but it took them 2 hours to prepare it. They’re doing takeout only, and when you order online for pickup you are told it will be ready in 15-20 minutes. When you show up in about 20 minutes the nice cashier tells you it will be a few more minutes. Since you don’t want to wait inside with a whole bunch of others who are waiting, half of them w/o masks, you wait outside in the rain... and wait... and wait...and wait. Seriously, there’s no point in not having inside dining if you fill your restaurant with unmasked folks waiting for their food for two hours. Seems like they were having a bad day, but they really should require masks for service.

I cannot begin to express how frustrated I was by the “service” at this restaurant. I placed an order online, and arrived 5 minutes early for my pickup time. As of this writing, I have been waiting 40 minutes and still no dinner. I like the food here, but will not come back until they fully open.

The food was good although it was a bit of a wait for the pickup even after waiting for the time they said. Also... They don't require masks inside and others in the small waiting area don't have it so wait outside to not be next to other. Not going to eat here again until after I'm vaccinated. Not worth the risk. If they don't require masks inside I'm not sure what's going on in the back either.

A quick question. Does anyone ever ask for soggy wet “crispy” chicken wings? I ask because that is what I received. May I suggest that you maybe vent food to keep the integrity of it while being transported. Or, perhaps completely do away with delivery

We ordered kung pao shrimp was the only thing that was good and I mean just good, chicken chow mein they should have called it chicken less chow mein just a bunch of Gracie overcooked noodles and hard bits of meat, egg foo young what's very little egg and mostly potato add it into it, sweet and sour pork that was mostly just breaded what teeny tiny pieces of pork inside of it overall experience greatly disappointed a waste of $60!

I ordered lemon chicken, and I received sweet and sour chicken. It is clearly sweet and sour chicken, I told them that I have allergies to sweeten sour and I cannot eat it. They told me that it was my fault for the inconvenience, they told me it was my fault I received the wrong order, told me that they will not fix it, and then they told me that I should just eat the food I received instead of eating the food that I ordered. Extremely unprofessional and extremely rude staff. Never eating here again

We waited AN HOUR AND A HALF for our food. The pot sticker meat was very weird texture and flavor. Wasn't a fan of the seasonings they use. Would rather go to Panda Express then here. The employees are very nice I will give them that.

My wife and I ordered food from here last night through DoorDash. We’ve never tried here before, and after we read some reviews we gave it a shot. It took a total of 12 minutes for them to receive, cook (we think reheat) and deliver our food. Chinese delivery normally takes about an hour, maybe more, but 12 minutes?? The meat had a weird texture and the noodles just didn’t taste right. Stopped eating not even a couple minutes later. My wife and I woke up with bad stomach pain, and we continue to vomit. Never ordering from here again.

I had to take basically a ramen noodle block and throw it in the microwave with a separate container of sauce for the noodles to be edible; glad I had access to a kitchen or I wouldn't have been able to eat the noodles at all. Overall the food quality was horrible and I will never eat here again. We tried to get an refund for $100 of food that went in the trash and got stonewalled. Maybe the food is better in the restaurant but golden star clearly doesn't care about their takeout customers.

Horrible service. The second the server realized I was ordering take out, she was annoyed and impatient with me. I used to be a server so I would've left a 20% tip (for take out) had she not been so rude to me. I ordered 3 main dishes and an appetizer, received 3 packets of soy sauce and was told I had to pay if I wanted more. The food wasn't bad but I wasn't really impressed. Will never got back and would definitely not recommend.

This may have been the worst dining experience of my life. Service was awful (had to call over our waiter to take our order), took 1.5 hours to get our food, and some of it was inedible (pan fried noodles were crunchy). Rest of the food was mediocre at best. Avoid unless all other restaurants in Redding shut down.
