Just met Keith the owner today! Great guy! Best vanilla chai I’ve had! Great service and atmosphere as well! This is a SOLID choice for a coffee shop.
Awesome ambiance with a good selection of coffee, tea, and snacks. The staff are super great, too. The outside seating out back is a nice space to enjoy java and the sun. Parking and city driving to get here can be a hassle, but a minor one for a peaceful place to work, relax, or hang out with friends. A great spot for an initial meet up for any new online friends.
There are places to get coffee and there are coffee houses. Only my 2nd time, but I enjoy the atmosphere, music isn't too loud, plenty of seating, and I like they support local artists
Coffee is first rate and service is excellent. Nice casual coffe house vibe. Lots of great art for sale and to view. Feels like a very neighborhood-friendly place to hang out.
Great little Cafe, actually quite spacious! Got an old school swag, artsy and earthy feel. Very friendly and welcoming staff, 5 stars for you guys. Great vibes, good spot to get something done or meet up. Cappuccino is good. I will be back 👍
Let me set the scene my girlfriend had been mad at me for 3 days, until I took her to Boulder coffee co. As soon as we walked in her demeanor changed due to the ambiance of this gorgeous coffee shop. Let’s get to the goods. I got a papaya passion fruit tea which was delicious and a LGBT on an everything bagel it was absolutely divine. My girlfriend got a breakfast burrito that had her dancing in her seat. And a banana mocha latte which she explained as “A deep rich mocha taste with a refreshing splash of banana” overall Boulder coffee co saved my relationship. 10/10 must go here
Stopped by on a Sunday morning and was so happy I did. The large open spaces are filled with both comfy vintage lounge seating and plenty of table and chairs. It's super-cool personality oozes from the dark walls with local art, event posters, and interesting relics. The staff was energetic, friendly and efficient making sure our Chai Latte and Turmeric Latte were spiced to our taste.
Great cup of hot chocolate, very nice staff, pleasant atmosphere. (Would be nice to have some more outlets if you can figure that out.)
This is a great place to hold networking meetings if your person that you are meeting isn't too uptight. It is roomy - comfortable at times filled with lively conversation that might make it too loud for an oldster. I am old so I can say that. I like it and the coffee is always fresh. Plus thy sport some beers and wine. Gotta love that.
Love coming here to get work done or read. Nice coffee drinks and the spicy Alexander was a great breakfast sandwich. Love the artsy vibes, comfy seating, and that they are open late.
Remember Mike Myers as “Charlie” in So I Married an Axe Murderer doing an open mic at the charming cafe? The Boulder Coffee Co Cafe & Lounge has that same kind of charm!
Very nice place to work. Lots of interesting art on the walls (I assume most of them are local artists, which I really appreciate), and generally the interior design is quite cool. They have a piano and a small stage. Concerts on the weekends (check the calendar on their website). And of course, coffee is not very expensive and really good (Boulder Dark Roast one is super cool). They roast, as far as I know. Recently, I also tried their Apple Cider Chai - super delicious (a bit sweet for me, but still yum). Love the atmosphere and definitely enjoy working there.
A very pleasant coffee shop. I got myself a delicious latte with whole milk and the additional espresso shot was very reasonably priced! Nice to see. Very nice way to spend my Saturday morning with a book and some tasty coffee. I'll certainly be back.
First of all, my red-eye mocha espresso drink was delicious. But that's all in addition to the care this staff puts into making this place super comfy! The performance space looks very nice. I'm posting a shot if the stage and a close-up of the P.A. head in case any fellow musicians need it. I didn't see any monitor speakers, be warned. And the P.A. head is covered with dust! Someone, please dust it off, or it will get crunchy! All in all I had a pleasant firt-time coffee drinking experience at this restaurant.
Amazing Coffee place with huge space and music in the air! A wonderful experience!
I began dating my girlfriend here, asked her to become my fiance with the help of the staff. So you might say this place is quite helpful, but enough about me. Their atmosphere is as it gets, and offers a very welcoming environment. The weekly music nights are to die for, and the coffee is delicious... What is not to love!?
A truly wonderful experience, Boulder is a haven of solitude in an otherwise hectic intersection. Its quirky decoration doesn't make the location feel cramped and honestly gives it a homey charm that immediately makes you feel welcome. High ceilings, friendly staff, open floor plan-- it's easily wheelchair accessible and there are tables of all heights and varieties. I've felt calm and focused whenever I have come in to study, and I easily recommend it to anyone.
Good coffee, really cool art and vibe. Like that they have an events calendar. Seems like a great community spot.
We met a friend here upon her recommendation while passing through town. Had a fabulous hot apple cider. The hubby had a decadent hot chocolate, and she is a fan of their coffee too. We did not have anything to eat. Service was fab. The vibe is hip and laid back, and it was quiet enough to kick back in the comfy sofas for an easy chat without having to yell over music or the cappuccino machine, y'know? Superb little place.
Great coffee house vibe, I got the Mexican breakfast in a wrap which wasn't bad, wish I had more time to linger there this morning. I have been there before when you can go outside and it's great then, too. But it's spacious inside with lots of seating it you're hanging out.
The barista was very pleasant and fun. I asked for a random surprise coffee the barista played along without hesitation and even seemed intrigued and happy to play along. It was a very nice experience the coffee I was given was one of the Valentine's Day flavors It was delicious and perfectly made. The atmosphere was pleasant. It was nice to hear one of the patrons playing piano in the background. There are various types of seating, couches and chairs. I Look forward to going back.
Awesome coffee and fun atmosphere. In the world of coffee shops, they're all starting to look and feel the same sadly. This place has a great combo of excellent roasts and great vibes. Cool weekend spot with a liquor license that can throw something extra in your java if you want. Food has been good but the coffee and the staff is always excellent.
girl with pink hair was very friendly and knowledgeable and made the best latte i’ve ever had. thank you pink hair girl
Always a great meet up place w anyone
Good drinks, great staff, plenty of seating. Often have community events there. They have wifi.
Didn't have anything to eat but I ordered coffee that was wonderful! Also participate in the backgammon and Spanish clubs that meet regularly on Tuesdays from 6 :00-8:00pm
I got a frozen latte and a mudslide. They were both delicious. Also got the "extra" mudslide that didn't fit in my cup, that was nice. The staff were friendly and sociable. The whole environment and vibe was very relaxing and comfy. They have alot of really awesome local art to look at and buy, plus their outside sitting area is also really nice and cozy. Would definitely recommend, it would be a nice place for a casual date.
I often meet here with clients and friends, because the service is friendly and they are very flexible when it comes to changing up in order. I really enjoy the atmosphere. The food and coffee are delicious.
Go to coffee shop for meeting up with friends for a hangout session. Casual atmosphere with a variety of tables, couches, chairs, artwork for sale, musical instruments & funky decor. Good selection of hot foods and munchies, along with plenty of hot & cold coffee drinks and teas to choose from. Reasonable prices. Usually fairly busy.
I've been going here for years. One of the best coffee shops in Rochester. Excellent customer service and a great environment to get some work done or chat/hangout with friends.
Amazing spacious atmosphere with great food and drink choices complimented by a strong local art presence. The service was on par and I received a discount for visiting on my birthday. We experienced locally roasted coffee, local art, and live local musicians in the same evening. I cannot recommend this cafe enough. You will certainly find plenty of seating, three bathrooms, and a unique ambiance. The live musicals were fantastic. I felt bad not paying for the music! The glass walls make the cafe feel like it’s a part of the local neighborhood and open up the cafe for some soothing city sounds. I highly recommend this place. I assume WiFi was free since there were several people on their laptops.
This place is strange. I know that's a weird word to use, but it's so many things. First and foremost, it's a really great coffee shop. The coffee is delicious, and unlike the big coffee chain, I don't mind paying $4 for a nice mocha. Second, the lounge part of the name is great. The place is designed with vintage, antique furniture and photos a really healthy creative environment, even if it's packed to the brim. Lastly, at least for me (not really with the live entertainment aspect), it's a really great restaurant. I was hesitant at first, the good isn't food chain cheap, and usually food from places like this is just thrown together. This food, however, is not. The food is unique and simple, the only way to explain it is recipes that match the vibe of the place. Worth every penny. Overall, it's a great place. Love going there to work on novels (hipster, I know). Will always support this place!
Great coffee and great vibe. Perfect for reading, working or chatting with a friend.
Stopped in for coffee, red velvet muffin, and vegan breakfast burrito. Great vibes: funky decor, subdued lighting, wooden furniture, two bathrooms, good natural light from windows, nooks and crannies to lounge around on sofas and comfy chairs. Stage for poetry slam and musicians. Fair prices. Would come again.
Boulder is a great place to get coffee, hangout with friends or just get a quick bite to eat. Ari was very friendly and accommodating. Plenty of comfortable seating and cool art to look at. Definitely recommend!
Truly a fascinating coffee shop that is more than meets the eye! Not only do they have fantastic coffee, they regularly host art and music events, and have become something of a center for local creatives. If you're looking to step away from the noise of downtown, Boulder is a great place to do that. The atmosphere is always lively and upbeat, with good music and conversation to be had.
This was my first visit to Boulder. What a great experience! Love the many unique seating areas, something for everyone. The staff was very helpful with making suggestions and explaining their products and drinks. My dark roast coffee with double-espresso was terrific. It needed no cream at all. Most people were sitting on the many overstuffed chairs and couches with their laptops. Super environment for getting something done. There was a large painting over a doorway that kept us entertained for over half an hour finding faces and scenes buried in it. (Attached) The Incredible Hulk was my favorite find. My wife liked the Mariachi guitar player. Fun!! The trip to Boulder was not only relaxing, but highly entertaining. I highly recommend it to all.
A perfect spot to grab a coffee and take a break from the city. They have an eclectic menu, ideal atmosphere and responsive ownership. Their weekly open mics are also a treat in themselves. Would highly recommend ✌️
Such a good open mic night on Wednesdays!
What a charming find! Had a delicious late morning breakfast - both food and coffee were especially yummy. Relaxing place for a conversation with friends or on your own, sitting looking out the window to watch the world rush by. We'll definitely be back 🤎
Hosted a private event (baby shower) here. The owner made sure it went amazing. Very accommodating. It's a very nice space. Awesome people. I would recommend it to anyone hosting an event or just going for coffee.
Genuinely one of my favorite places on earth. Sadly I do not live in Rochester anymore, but I am here visiting, and I have the privilege of coming back to Boulder this week. I miss Boulder all the time.
Thank you for hosting the SEAC-sponsored pop-up at Tru Yoga! Boulder's coffee and muffins were delicious -- and the perfect after-class treat. We look forward to seeing you at future neighborhood events!
Great decor, crazy cool environment, non stop opportunity for new friendships and fellowship. Coffee is great, food is fresh, price is inline with the quality, and staff is accommodating and polite. Owner works on site and is absolutely involved with the exceptional customer experience. Best place to buy fresh roasted beans for your home coffee bar "on the days it's too snowy to leave the house for your favorite place to unwind".
Really enjoyed this coffee shop to stop and use my computer to get some work done before arriving at my grandparents house for the weekend. Delicious paninis and Salads. They still sell the oldschool PeeWee FIZ Soda Pops here
First time in and it has such a cool vibe. We wanted an afternoon pick-me-up. I ordered the Jack Rabbit which has Black Button Bourbon Cream in the coffee- really tasty and the temp was hot enough but not scalding. Husband had a cappuccino which he really enjoyed. We intend to return for some food -just weren’t hungry this time in. A band was setting up as we finished- if we had time we would have stayed.
Anna, Beth, and all the staff here are just absolutely lovely! Very friendly and willing to work with dietary restrictions. The breakfast burrito is my absolute favorite and makes a great breakfast before work. Boulder has become an essential part of my morning routine! Highly recommend making it part of yours too. And be sure to check out the art on the walls and the trinkets and prints from local vendors!
The food was amazing and the girl with the pink hair was very helpful!! She was patient with me even though i had no idea what i wanted and at other coffee shops the people make me feel rushed. But not at boulder!
I met some colleagues for a morning meeting. The staff were cheerful and funny. My mango smoothie and croissant hit the spot. There are lots of beverage options and plenty of comfortable seating.
We are on a continuous search for great local cafés. This is the gem that sets the bar for Rochester. Very relaxed ambience. Local students working on their laptops. Small families enjoying food. Couples and friends chatting over coffee. They support local businesses. We came on a Saturday afternoon, when students from RIT were given tables to show and sell their art in a non intrusive way. Coffee is really fantastic. I had an Americano, with their Espresso Blend. Roast master told me he does the sourcing, blending and roasting. This one had Ethiopian and Colombian beans. Fabulous blend of earthy and chocolate tones. I bought a pound to prepare with my French Press at hotel and the roaster grinded it to a perfect coarse. Side note: please never drink coffee from those hotel room machines. You can always do better! Come, have a coffee, have lunch, buy beans or ground coffee for your enjoyment at home. This is the type of place that makes café lovers feel right at home, even when traveling.
We came here for breakfast and were not disappointed at all, not just for their tasty food but also the friendly staff and atmosphere. We ordered lattes and breakfast sandwiches which were great, the price was just right. Another thing that caught our attention wad that they have Art on their walls for sale as well as some souvenirs from local artist. There is also an ATM inside just in case this information is helpful. Parking available right outside.
Love, love this place. Went to Rochester with extended family for the birth of my Nephew's son. We came upon this lovely cafe. Love everything about it. Best latte ever!! The lighting is perfect for photos. Great service. Great food but best of all was the price. I wish there was a place like this where I live!!!!
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Excellent cafe to mingle, work, and have a great brunch with colleagues or family or by yourself :) Amazing atmosphere. Always friendly and welcoming. I love coming here every time I have the chance. They make my day better 🥹 P.S I recommend the soup (I had broccoli and cheddar) and the Cobs Hill Cajun chicken sandwich. Sorry no picture, I guess I ate it too fast.
Friendly staff, lots to look at, plenty of seating, phenomenal food and so many options for flavors. Offers local bakery treats. The barista and I had a conversation about how I have anxiety trying new things (flavors) so she brought me a sample of the Lavender Mocha, I love this place and will come back!
People were so nice there. Great atmosphere. The food and drinks were top notch. I was a bit confused because I ordered an alcoholic beverage and the person I was with was asked to be ID'd also which was weird because they just got coffee. All in all it was a good experience and I will be returning again.

Great coffee and other drinks. cozy atmosphere. Haven't ate anything but muffins, but I would.
Good food, great coffee, nice atmosphere. I will say that the hot chocolate was luke warm but so good we didn’t complain.

Loved the atmosphere, I was going to go to another popular coffee shop, but they are always so crowded. So my friend recommended we go to Boulders. Was not crowded at all. I ordered hot chocolate, it was delicious with whipped cream and all! I will definitely be going back again!
I am SO SAD that they changed their chai lattes. I used to go out of my way to come to Boulder specifically for their spiced chai lattes and now I wont be doing that. The food, service, and atmosphere are still great though.
Wonderful atmosphere, plenty of seating. Good place to get work done. Also they have special performances which are fun to watch. Yummy breakfast sandwiches. The coffee/ chai is decent but not my favorite.
In 2018, I remember Boulder as a quaint, semi-cozy establishment. Excellent coffee, great price, outstanding refill price, excellent food, very good desserts (just slightly overpriced), excellent lounge, outstanding environment, excellent employees for the most part, they just needed a couple more; it got backed up & formed a line, usually only small to medium length, but slow moving when the cashier was the same person that had to go & make the espressos, etc. When I was a patron it was a great place to come visit & look at all the local artists & painter's works, framed & mounted on every wall! - Swifty
The atmosphere is amazing! Love the shows and art. Really wonderful they have coffee and liquor. I was there the other night for a show and they decided to stop selling coffee and only sell alcohol about an hour before closing. The girl was rude about it and said she didn't want to stay late and clean the coffee machines. Very disappointing for alot of people being it's a coffee shop and many people in sobriety go here to have coffee. Also, that before driving patrons couldn't coffee instead of liquor before driving home in the snow. The place is always fun and electric with art and the community happenings.
Coffee was great but the wait was kinda long. There were only 2 people working behind the counter and I think only about 2 orders in front of ours but it took about 15 minutes to get or drinks (a cappuccino and a café au lait, so nothing too involved). Atmosphere was...meh. Furnishings were in various states of disrepair (I'm all about sustainability and not discarding perfectly functional furniture, but would it kill you to wash the couch cushion covers like once a year? Or to replace the shredded chair seats?). Had a prominent "Punk rock nightclub" feel to it. Stickers on every vertical surface, etc. This was probably a very cool spot at one point, but it seems it may have seen better days. But again, the coffee was great!
Awesome coffee shop, the food is ok but not great. Baked goods are meh and they keep them in the fridge. Staff are super friendly and the atmosphere is awesome.
Stopped in for coffee & had a mostly good experience. Only one person was working, so it took about 15 minutes to get through the 3-4 people ahead of me though. Prices are good, and the coffee is okay. The coffee they use for their espresso is a bit too dark for my preference - but it was well made & the barista was great. It's good quality, even it's not my ideal roast. I would probably stop by again if I'm in the area. They had some good looking muffins and things that I would be interested to try!

I like to work here or have friend dates here. Plenty of seating, electric vibes. cafe is delicious!

This is a plea to ownership to sell Boulder and have someone more capable run this longtime establishment. For the second time this summer, the cafe was closed on a weekday for no apparent reason, …
cozy atmosphere, fun menu, live music and events going on. Delicious chai latte and they gave our dog a pup cup!
Coffee was great and so was the service. My only complaints are that the tables are very dirty with crumbs and staff doesn't seem to go around periodically to clean them. My table was a mess and I had to brush all the crumbs onto the floor. Also most of the tables are not stable so it makes doing work on them difficult. I ended my stay shorter than I wanted to because I couldn't handle it anymore. I might come back but it won't be to do work or sit down.
The live music was good. The atmosphere is okay. The furnishing is old, a bit ragged, used up, and the art on the walls is across all styles. They have antique electronics all over the place that actually belong to the recycle collection. It's a bit 'artsy', and a bit bad taste, just like being furnished by someone with no focus. The cappuccino was good. And it wasn't 'overfull' for a Saturday evening.
I’ve tried this place a few times now hoping I’d find something that stands out. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a drink I’d go back for :( I believe their chai is from a powder since it’s very artificial with no tea flavor. I tried their dragon fruit refresher which was super diluted tasting. Finally, I had an oat milk cookie butter latte that was also very diluted and mediocre. The espresso did not seem high quality. The only food item I’ve tried is their tofu scramble which was incredibly bland and soggy, definitely would not order this. Baristas are all very nice, I bought a pair of earrings a local artist sells there I love, and the atmosphere is great.
I really want to like Boulder and I want them to succeed as a local business here but I wasn’t super impressed by the visit. My iced latte was really watered down; it kinda just tasted like coffee water and wasn’t anything I’d pay for again. The chicken poppyseed salad was really good but $13 felt like a lot for a salad. I feel like the prices are a bit high and the coffee needs work, maybe to be stronger? The artsy vibe inside is pretty cool.
Parking is very difficult. Only 2 people working the counter and a line of 10+ people. 2 ladies left when line wasn’t moving. Very noisy. I had Jamaican me crazy flavored coffee and it wasn’t the best of had.
I used to love coming here---especially to their back patio. It was one of the best in the area. Recently the owners decided to put a new AC Condenser Unit in the middle of the patio----a Goodman that makes it impossible to have conversations, or focus, spoiling its best assett for no reason. It's 72 decibles---as loud as coffee grinder or vacuum cleaner. Ya'll what the heck were you thinking lol? Your cafe is successfull---spend money on a quieter unit or put more thought into its placment (the old one was on the side away from everyone).
Good coffee and service and cozyyy place!\nI would say the prices could be lower and the food/pastry especially-could be fresher.
The drinks and food here are mid at best. The parking lot is a huge mess. Like yikes. The attitude of the people that work here do not want to be bothered and act as if you ordering is the worst thing imaginable. Just go to any other coffee shop in Rochester because our city has way too many.
I love their drinks but the service is RIDICULOUSLY slow. It often times takes 20-30 minutes to get my drink or food. I’ve gone multiple times at varying points of the day and it’s always the same: a couple employees chatting with each other and regulars and working excruciatingly slowly. I understand as someone who works in food service but people have places to be, not everyone has the time to be waiting half an hour for their order. I have repeatedly had to walk out before ordering since it takes so long. I’ve even had to leave AFTER PAYING without my food since I didn’t account for needing to arrive with a 30min buffer time. PSA: taking half an hour to make a breakfast wrap is pretty crazy and 7.95 for a teensie burrito is also crazy
We feel like there are much better experiences out there. The blank looks shared amongst the staff on how to prepare a signature specialty drink ordered from their standard menu had us a little concerned. The coffee itself was not bad but at the same time did little to impress us. The interior vibe is certainly chill and if you want some quiet this might work for you as even though it was crowded @ 3p on a Sunday, it was still pretty quiet. However, this left very little room to park in the unpaved parking lot areas out back of the business, which left many spots for snowy/icy slips/falls and possible twisted ankles, given the # of potholes.
$7.00 for a large cappuccino, might as well save some money and go to Starbucks. The menu states $6 but I was charged $7.56 with tax. $10 coffee will be here soon
I had a questionable experience here. They do have good coffee, it tastes like good quality but it’s not really worth it for the service they give. The line is always way too long because they don’t have enough staff or the employees aren’t efficient enough. They do things for the best interest of the white people, and give people of color mediocre service and avoid making eye contact with them. Their decor consists of gentrified artwork and pictures of only white celebrities and artists. They sell “waist beads” for an overpriced price, which is funny because both times I’ve gone the whole store has been filled with only white people. The workers don’t greet you or acknowledge you if you aren’t a white man or with a white man. The coffee is the only appealing quality and their muffins are pretty good, I’d give them a 1/5. Don’t come here if you aren’t trying to feel uncomfortable.
The pictures on Google were deceiving I thought the place would be much cleaner and well kept than it actually was. The place is not nearly as clean as I thought it would be, there were little flies flying all around the pitchers they keep teas in. It just seems like the staff doesn’t take extra time to clean at the end of their shift. There should be stricter cleaning standards. Take some pride in the business and bringing customers in.
Just dont even bother. Bathrooms - gross. Food - sucked. No one had a hat/hairnet on, found hair in my food and instantly stopped eating. Not that the food was worth it anyways. The vintage decor and local artists product for sale was the only good part. Being from out of town, I was pretty grossed out and alot of these reviews shocked me.
Too bad they used to be a good place but its like they coasted on thier reputation right into the gutter
First time there, maybe 8 customers in the place, Saturday morning. We approach the counter, 2 workers don’t say a word to us or even make eye contact for an uncomfortable amount of time, I’m guessing 5-10 minutes of us standing there awkwardly waiting for someone to say hello. We left without anyone acknowledging us and went to another place down the street. Also, there’s a sign on what looks like a main entrance that says “use the main door”. There’s no arrow, but the “main door” is the small side door with no signage by the parking lot.
Me and my wife first time here no hello have a nice day at all was to busy talking to each other or regulars we will not be bad kind of bum it’s lgbt cafe but definitely don’t feel that way
Place seemed cool until I stood in line for 5 mins, both girls looked at me, and said nothing. No hi, no be right with you, sorry for the wait. Went to the bathroom to kill time and it's gross in there. Had to hold the toilet seat up in order to use it because it kept falling. Went back to the register and the same thing. Place is understaffed and gross. Teach your workers how to acknowledge the customer. This was at 10am on a Monday.
