I was able to snag a reservation about a month before my visit to Italy which worked out great as I was able to time it with my visit to the Pantheon (restaurant is across the street). I was greeted warmly when I arrived and shown to my table. I started with an arugula salad which was perfect. I'm usually not a big arugula fan but this salad converted me. The gnocchi with ribs was a special and was divine. Meat was fall off the bone tender and a perfect complement to the gnocchi. I had the tiramisu for dessert which was so creamy and delicious I forgot to take a picture. Paired with a lovely red wine recommended by the waitress and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Tip- try and get a reservation beforehand- a few folks were turned away without one due to a full house.

We had a great meal, right by the Pantheon. I've wanted to try "coratella" (lambs liver, heart etc) and Armando's has a take on this Roman classic that serves it in a bun with spicy chicory. It was delicious. I ordered one of their version of the four Roman pasta dishes, the carbonara - it was creamy, rich, with chunky, salty & crunchy pork cheek and fresh spaghetti that was chewy and very moorish. Lovely room, like an art gallery, and very helpful staff. Recommended, but remember that booking is essential.

Terrific restaurant right next to the Pantheon. It is very popular so you must make a reservation when the date become available 1 month in advance. A kine forms outside before it opens but people with reservations are seated first so dont worry if you are way down the line. The restaurant is very nice inside and quiet which was great. The service was great. Everyone was so friendly and helpful with suggestions. The food was very good as well as the local Chianti. We had Lambs heart, liver and lung on a roll, grilled lamb shanks and rigatoni alla amatriciana.

We were very lucky that the waiter made a plan for us without having a reservation, as this is must. And then we tasted the best carbonara ever, and the house wine and prosecco was just special and amazing. Traditional Roman menu! Everything was tasty and delicious. I had a wonderful dinner at Armando al Pantheon. The pasta dishes were perfectly al dente and seasoned just right—simple yet full of flavor. The roasted lamb was outstanding, offering three different cuts on one plate. It was so delicious I couldn’t resist picking up the bone and licking my fingers clean. The wine list was solid, and the sommelier was both knowledgeable and warm. The atmosphere was cozy and authentically Roman. Just make sure to book well in advance—the online reservation system opens a month ahead and fills up quickly!

Fabulous restaurant next to the Pantheon (obviously). MUST reserve a month ahead exactly. Strangely when we arrived there was a sign saying "fully booked" but restaurant was not full. They must know their limits and cook amazing food for a limited crowd. I would not choose outdoor seating which requires an email. The atmosphere inside is lovely. Outside is a little chaotic. Best Rigatoni all' Amatriciana we had in Rome, period. Crispy guanciale, perfectly toothy rigatoni. Carbonara and cacio e Pepe also both perfection. Our appetizers were lovely, a tomato bread with bufala mozzarella, and anchovies over cooked greens. Amazing wine at a reasonable price recommended by the sommelier. Wish we could go back. Just outstanding.

100% worth securing a reservation 1 month in advance. The food was incredible and service was top-notch. I took one bite of their veal special they were offering that night and it took me back to my Grandparents kitchen. Highly recommend this spot for dinner. Also worth mentioning: they received a Michelin Star back in 2017!

Tiny gem in a wonderful location. Came here for a birthday dinner and was not disappointed! Fantastic selection of wine from all over Italy. We started with the eggplant parmesan which was perfectly executed. The eggplant was tender but not mushy and the flavor was divine. Then, we shared the gricio and the amatriciana. Both excellent! The large pieces of guanciale were crispy and added so much flavor. Finally, we finished with the tiramisu. The lady fingers were still slightly crisp, giving the tiramisu a wonderful texture. When the bill came c we were surprised and how affordable this delicious meal was. Overall, a wonderful meal!

Amazing food. Amazing wine selection. Amazing service. This family owned and operated restaurant is a true gem. You must get a reservation at least a month before your visit. It is worth it! Everything is freshly prepared and locally sourced. Cannot wait to return. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and attentive and enthusiastic about their food and that you are happy. I always feel welcomed as soon as we walk through the doors.

First things first, make a reservation. Seats are coveted here and you must reserve far in advance. Or, wait at the door for a no show. Next, it is worth it worth it worth it. The food is incredible, perfectly done. The Roman artichoke was amazing with mozzarella. The pasta was almost too al dente but fantastic flavors. The meat was tender and so flavorful. Great wine choices and a few delicious desserts as well. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Priced fair for the experience and delicious food but also, prepare to pay. We highly recommend and we will definitely be back. And we appreciate the amazing flavors that came out of the kitchen.

Pochi piatti , ma veramente buoni. Ambiente, non caratteristici con una trattoria romana, servizio professionale ma troppo freddo con i clienti, non caratteristico dei romani. Altra oecca,obligatorio prenotare almeno 30 giorni prima.

Abbiano preso due secondi che ad esser onesti erano molto buoni, le 4 stesse per il cibo vanno solo perché per dessert ho preso un tiramisù che era molto (troppo) liquido. Sul servizio 4 stelle perché abbiamo preso una bottiglia di vino ma al di là dell'apertura nessuno e mai venuto a riempire nuovamente i calici (nonostante fossero molti camerieri per pochi coperti). Per il resto comunque il servizio è stato gentile. Per l'ambiente 4 stelle perché continuavano ad arrivare spifferi di freddo ogni volta che qualcuno apriva la porta. Basterebbe un tagliavento o una tendina per evitare questo inconveniente. In sintesi, un buon ristorante che con qualche piccolo accorgimento potrebbe esser ottimo. Conto: Due secondi, acqua, un tiramisù e una bottiglia di vino (da 30 euro), per un totale di 87 euro. Nella media vista la posizione. Consiglio di prenotare in quanto ci sono pochi posti ed è facile trovarlo al completo.

Visita dovuta perché più classifiche lo indicano tra le migliori carbonare di Roma, ma ahimè, la mia esperienza non lo piazzerebbe neanche tra le prime mille. La location è spettacolare in quanto a 2 passi di numero a lato del Pantheon e della sua meravigliosa piazzetta. Il locale è piccolino, un po’ datato e con qualche tavolino all’esterno, doveroso prenotare con largo anticipo. Noi lo abbiamo fatto online lasciando anche il numero di carta di credito a caparra, con penale in caso di no show. Abbiamo iniziato con una mozzarella di bufala, veramente buona, e carciofo alla romana, anche lui buono. Poi finalmente le paste: una carbonara e una gricia. La gricia ottima, ed è cosa rara oramai a Roma, saporita ma di guanciale e sunnia e non come capita troppo spesso con una furba cremina di pecorino. La carbonara, o per meglio dire, le carbonare invece molto male. Dico le carbonare perché la prima l’ho rimandata indietro perché immangiabile. L’uovo era frittata, la pasta leggermente scotta e il guanciale quasi assente. E l’ho rimandata indietro non per snobismo, ma perché volevo provare e giudicare la loro massima espressione, non la peggiore. La seconda carbonara arriva con una cottura di pasta migliore, anche se non ottimale, più guanciale, anche se non croccante e una cremina di uovo non già frittata, ma nemmeno setosa come dovrebbe essere. Sembra più una spuma, l’uovo è stato emulsionato un po’ troppo e forse con troppo albume. Risultato quindi deludente anche nella prova d’appello e mi rimane la domanda di cosa abbiamo mangiato quelli che annualmente lo confermano nella classifica delle migliori carbonare di Roma. Intendiamoci, non da buttare, ma di carbonare con così tanti difetti a Roma se ne trovano migliaia, buone, sufficienti, ma niente di più. Per finire un tiramisù che definirei nella norma. Quindi concludendo, un buon ristorante, con ottimi ingredienti ed un servizio attento, considerate che al conto hanno applicato un piccolo sconto per il problema con la pasta, anche se non richiesto, piatti romani della tradizione buoni, ma ahimè non da consigliare se volete provata una delle migliori carbonare di Roma.

Buona cucina, ma non eccezionale. Ci sono riuscito ad andare dopo tanti tentativi a vuoto, forse mi aspettavo troppo, ma non lo trovo così TOP come tutti me lo raccontavano. Cucina romana buona, buona la coratella, buona la carbonara (non ottima però). Giusto il conto. Un consiglio - d'inverno non mettetevi vicino all'ingresso, ho sofferto il freddo della porta che continuava ad essere aperta. Non è possibile non risolvere questo problema.

Ristorante nel cuore di Roma!! Ci sono stata insieme alla mia famiglia! Ho apprezzato tutto: dalla vasta scelta del menù, all’ambiente e soprattutto al gusto e sapore dei piatti. Prezzo più che giusto per la qualità offerta. È stato un po’ difficile prenotare perché è quasi sempre al completo, ma ne è valsa assolutamente la pena.

Ho mangiato in questo ristorante dopo averne sentito parlare da altre persone e devo dire che l'esperienza è stata positiva. L'ambiente è accogliente e il personale si è dimostrato professionale e disponibile. I piatti sono molto buoni e curati nella preparazione, mentre i prezzi sono in linea con la zona in cui si trova il locale. Merita sicuramente una visita!

I’d been wanting to try this restaurant ever since I saw it mentioned in several blogs and social media posts. There are two ways to eat here: either you book a table weeks in advance, or line up before the restaurant opens for lunch and hope there’s still a table left after the reservations. The second option is a bit risky — the line gets long, and not everyone gets in. The restaurant is right across from the Pantheon, with a simple decor. We ordered two classics: rigatoni all’amatriciana and carbonara, paired with two glasses of red wine (one full-bodied, one medium-bodied). The guanciale in the amatriciana was crispy and served in larger pieces, though the dish itself was a bit on the salty side. The carbonara had a creamy, well-balanced sauce. Overall, the pasta was delicious — maybe not the absolute best we’ve had, but definitely worth trying. Service is quite slow, so be patient — our dishes took about 40 minutes to arrive.

The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the location was fantastic, especially being so close to the Pantheon. I had actually saved this spot beforehand, so it was definitely worth the visit!

We were looking forward to our reservation at this restaurant (reservations definitely necessary if possible). We ultimately tried just two dishes. The pasta itself was very well done, however the sauce was not very flavourful. The Roman lamb (abbachio allo scottadito) was fantastic though - definitely recommend. The food and drinks are all quite pricey (as you might imagine in central Rome) in addition to service and water charges.

Locale caratteristico vicino il Pantheon con pochi tavoli. Ho prenotato con largo anticipo e l'ho scelto considerate le recensioni positive. Abbiamo preso due antipasti e tre primi. Gli antipasti erano davvero molto buoni ed i primi abbondanti. Buono il servizio. Tuttavia non mi è piaciuto il fatto che abbiano portato l'acqua senza il tappo e per ben 2 volte nella bottiglia dell'acqua minerale. Devo desumere che ciò rappresenta un modus operandi del locale che a me suscita qualche perplessità motivo per cui non ci tornerei.

A due passi dal Pantheon, piccolo ristorante storico con tutti i piatti tipici della tradizione romana. Prezzi non turistici e qualità della materia prima alta. Coratella e carbonara davvero buone. Servizio gentile ed attento anche se non troppo veloce. Due nei: un unico piccolo bagno uguale per tutti per cui capita di trovarsi in coda per il proprio turno e l'acqua che pur servita in bottiglia è sempre arrivata stappata ed al gusto sembrava proprio acqua del rubinetto... Per il resto sicuramente se in zona merita una visita.

Non ci tornavo da vari anni e ne avevo un bel ricordo. Purtroppo il livello del cibo è davvero crollato. La pizza scrocchiarella con stracciatella era pessima, focaccia dura e stagionata, nulla a che vedere con la pizza croccante che si trova ottima in tutta Roma. La faraona riscaldata, scialba e senza vertice. Dolce nella media. Peccato davvero perché il servizio e la location sono sempre impeccabili ma non si può abbassare così la qualità degli ingredienti perché intanto è sempre pieno per il numero dei turisti stranieri che prenotano.

We have been trying to get a table at Armando’s for several years on every trip to Rome. This year we finally managed to get a reservation and albeit it was for a late time - 10:00PM - we were excited to be able to finally taste the food at this famed restaurant. Upon entering we were warmly greeted and sat at our table and quickly serviced by our waiter. We started our meal off with the appetizer of the day which was lamp organs with sautéed chicory and served on a fresh bun. It was nicely presented and tasted delicious. Off to a good start. For our main course we ordered the Roman traditional Rigatoni all’amatriciana (my wife’s favorite) and for my self the daily special which was a cooked veal dish plus a couple sides. When the food arrived it looked nicely prepared but unfortunately with the very first bite disappointment struck. My veal dish was way overcooked which made the meat very dry. So much so that the flavor and moisture of the sauce and the ricotta got lost in it. While my wife enjoyed her dish, having taken a few bites of her pasta I also found the Guanciale to be over fried and charred (my wife likes it that way) leaving a bitter taste. The side dishes were good however. Nevertheless, I had high expectations for this place based on what I have heard from friends and read in reviews and felt let down despite the good parts. The mistakes made were too big and essential. Knowing that I likely won’t be able to revisit to give it another shot I’m left feeling cheated out of an experience that should have been one of the highlights from this trip. It is worth noting: We had a group of friends that had been able to secure a lunch table a couple days later. We recommended to stick to their staple dishes like Carbonara and the Osso Buco. They shared with us afterwards that the meal and overall experience was great. I hope to revisit the place in the future and to be able to share a better review next time around.

Ho cenato da Armando al Pantheon ieri sera con aspettative molto alte per la fama storica del ristorante. Purtroppo l’esperienza è stata una grande delusione, resa ancora più amara dal fatto che fosse il mio compleanno e che avessi invitato altre persone convinta di fare bella figura. La pizza scrocchiarella è risultata deludente, simile a una schiacciatina industriale. Alici e burrata erano buone come materie prime ma il piatto nel complesso non giustificava assolutamente il prezzo. La trippa alla romana era acquosa e con una salsa di pomodoro poco condita e priva del sapore deciso che ci si aspetta da un piatto tradizionale. L’abbacchio è stato rimandato indietro perché gommoso e difficile da mangiare, cosa inaccettabile per un ristorante che dovrebbe rappresentare un punto di riferimento della cucina romana. La sensazione generale è quella di un locale che oggi vive soprattutto della fama costruita negli anni passati e che si rivolge principalmente a una clientela turistica poco esigente. Personalmente mi aspettavo una cucina autentica, curata e all’altezza del nome che porta, ma almeno nella serata in cui ho cenato qui non l’ho trovata. Un vero peccato.

Aggressive service and shocking behavior - Read before you go. I arrived here following several recommendations, despite the location being known as a tourist trap. Unfortunately, it was a huge mistake. First, the dinner menu is different from lunch, so the Cacio e Pepe was not available. We decided to stay anyway and ordered Bruschetta (which was mediocre) and Pasta Arrabbiata. The pasta was extremely spicy yet somehow watery and bland. The real issue, however, was the shocking service. When we asked for the bill and questioned why we were being charged for a dish we clearly didn't enjoy, the waiter completely lost his temper. Unbelievably, he actually tasted our dish right there at the table to "prove" it was good! When I told him that taste is subjective, he sat down next to us, started raising his voice, and spoke in a completely unacceptable manner. We paid the full bill, but I made sure to tell him that respect for customers is mandatory. Instead of listening, he was rude, dismissive ("everyone else likes it"), and at one point even put his hands on me. I strongly recommend staying away from this place—not just because of the food, but because of the aggressive and unprofessional treatment.
