I love a good southern breakfast, and Silver Skillet delivers just that. I ordered two eggs that came with gravy and cheese grits. No notes, just felt like a big warm hug. My sweet tea was perfectly sweet. Everything was exactly what I was expecting. My waitress was super kind; she really was the epitome of Southern hospitality. Though busy, the staff was always keeping guests informed of wait times and worked with the limited seating they had. I love the fact that though the booths and tables were smaller, waiters and waitresses tried to group larger groups together in separate tables. It definitely was a cozy little dinner. I would love to come here again and get my fix of gravy and grits when I'm next craving them. This is probably the most enjoyable brunch experience I've had ever!
A little bit lines waiting on weekends but totally worth for it. People are very welcomed and friendly to us. We ordered cured ham and catfish fillets. Both of them are very good!! The biscuits are the best. They are warm and soft.
Silver Skillet was exactly what I was craving — true Southern comfort food done right. The mac and cheese? Hands down the BEST ever. Creamy, flavorful, just pure comfort in every bite. Honestly, everything we had was amazing. If you’re looking for real Southern good food with that classic diner feel, this is it. It will definitely be my go-to spot from now on!
Our car broke down when we had to get to the airport and everybody quickly helped us as much as they could. These are the kindest people I have ever met. The food was very delicious and comforting despite the situation. I would recommend the Silver Skillet to anybody.
First time here at this family run spot sitting here since the 1950s loved everything about this place , staff atmosphere food so yummy and different great coffee great portions my server Victoria is super !! Will be back next time in Atlanta .. thank you Silver Skillet for being a legend in the dining industry 👌🙏👍👏
These must be Martin’s Mommas biscuits. Very quality southern biscuits taste just like grandmother used to make. Most plates are around $15/$16 featuring one meat, grits and eggs, toast, or biscuit. I got the fried catfish and my wife got the corned beef hash. We both added hashbrowns. $20 +tip. It’s a small place, but it had maximized seating spacing. Service is prompt and food is good speed. Portions are ok but could be bigger. Crispy and tasty fish and tasty corned beef hash. Could’ve had more grits, more hashbrowns, and one extra fish strip. Nostalgic look all around. I see why movies were done here. I was very impressed with the large menu. Lunch starts at 11 and we were there for breakfast so we added this place to our favorites and plan to come try the lunch options. Very good menu and good side options. Good dessert list also. I tried the peach cobbler and it was a bit small for the price. It didn’t have the look at first. I’m the taste was good, but the dough is thick and not crispy like pie shell as I prefer. I’d recommend this place and come back. Plenty of parking on the side lot dedicated.
At Silver Skillet, you’re not just enjoying a meal—you’re absorbing an experience. It’s where the comfort of perfectly flaky biscuits meets the charm of a bygone era, where every bite of ham or sip of coffee feels deeply rooted in Southern tradition. Whether you’re a tourist chasing nostalgia or a local feeding a craving for the classics, this diner proves that timeless food and a warm welcome never go out of style.
Some places never need to change, and the Silver Skillet is perfectly content being exactly what it’s always been: an honest-to-goodness diner serving up breakfast classics without pretense. The hash browns are crispy-edged and golden, the bacon comes out properly rendered, and the eggs are cooked to order every time. This isn’t Instagram food - it’s comfort food that’s been perfected through decades of repetition. The atmosphere is pure Americana diner, complete with well-worn booths and coffee that keeps coming. If you’re looking for trendy twists or artisanal anything, keep driving. But if you want a plate of eggs, bacon, and hash browns that tastes exactly like it should, the Silver Skillet delivers every single time. For diner purists and anyone who appreciates consistency over novelty, this place is a treasure. Sometimes the best restaurants are the ones that never try to be anything other than themselves.
I recently visited Silver Skillet in Atlanta during a US business trip. It was an amazing experience! The retro diner vibe created a warm, nostalgic ambiance that instantly put me at ease. Our waitress was an absolute gem—friendly, attentive, and full of charm. The dessert I had was nothing short of a dream, rich and perfectly indulgent. Highly recommend this iconic spot for a delightful meal or a cake and coffee.
If you’re craving true Southern comfort, this place delivers! The breakfast was absolutely delicious — every bite was made with love. From fluffy biscuits to perfectly seasoned grits, the cooks here really know what they’re doing. The service was warm, welcoming, and fast. You can tell the staff takes pride in their work. Can’t wait to come back for another hearty, home-cooked meal!
What a delightful and inviting atmosphere! The food is absolutely scrumptious, especially the mouthwatering chicken and waffles. Be sure not to miss the charming gift shop, where you can find their own coffee beans to savor at home. Thank you, Miss Victoria and the staff, for a wonderful experience!
Breakfast was great today. The pancakes were cooked just right & good to the taste. Eggs, Grits, chicken sausage & hash browns where good to. I’m front the north and I put auger in my grits and didn’t need to today😂. But overall the customer service was great & nice. This is a great place to have breakfast💯

The food was great. I had a taste for country fried steak. It was delicious and the food goes well with the great service.

The Silver Skillet in Atlanta is a timeless Southern landmark that perfectly blends nostalgia, hospitality, and hearty comfort food. Family-owned since 1956, it’s the kind of place where the décor hasn’t changed and every detail feels authentic, from the checkered floors to the posters on the walls. The atmosphere is warm and familiar, with the smell of bacon in the air and friendly staff who treat you like a regular the moment you walk in. The menu is Southern comfort including their famous biscuits that melt in your mouth. More than just breakfast, The Silver Skillet serves up a taste of Atlanta’s history and heart, proving that some traditions are worth keeping exactly as they are. Where the past still tastes delicious.
Nice eating with a warm home touched field. The pancakes and eggs were made just as ordered. Vegetable plate looked delicious and the cornbread was rather tasty. The service was good for the time of day. The tea was a sweet just like I like it. I would try this restaurant again if in the area.

Not sure what the hullabaloo about this place is. It's in a cute walkable neighborhood but aside from the fast service the food is just not that great. My diet Coke came in a can. Come on now, this is 2025. I had the ham steak with redeye gravy, and it was like jerky. I could barely cut it with a knife. It looked burned black when it was served, and that was before I poured the coffee-heavy watery "sauce" over it. The 3 cheese macaroni was so overcooked the mushy shells fell apart. The rice was sticky but the gravy was OK. Cornbread was good and dense with corn kernels in it. My husband's country-fried steak was good as were his mashed potatoes and lima beans. Biscuits were good. I will say if you don't go here for anything else, the awards they've received for the Lemon Icebox Pie are well-deserved and their chocolate pie was decadent.
The restaurant was a fan favorite for several years. I assume that it still is that is one of the reasons why I wanted to go there particularly to eat I saw this location on television and since I lived in the city I wanted to make sure to make a visit . It appears to be a lot bigger than it is They have a small dining area. It's a bit cluttered but I guess it's because it gives you the old school vibe where there's lots of things going on in the old school diner things on the walls and all of that good stuff the souvenir shop and everything. The floors weren't as clean as I would like them but I guess that was just a busy day for them. We were seated pretty promptly. I had a egg and cheese sandwich and chicken sausage it was very good I enjoyed the complete meal. I had a delicious hot chocolate, the other meal was country ham and eggs with grits which was also delicious from what I'm told, the pancake was cooked to perfection. The food came out within 20 minutes of ordering so the service is pretty prompt. Our waitress was pretty quick with everything a catered to our needs checked on our table twice. Our visit was all in all good and we would definitely return. And we would definitely return. Parking is more on the side of the restaurant where the entrance is.

No thanks. This is supposed to be a place that celebrities come to but I’m sorry I was not impressed. It’s just…dirty. Unclean vents, flaking paint and a bathroom on the outside. Food was meh at best. I had the meatloaf with tomato sauce, mashed potatoes and corn. The potatoes were not mashed and were not good. The meatloaf was ok but nothing to shout about. Service was spit on but that’s about it.
I really didn't want to leave this place a bad review but I was left with no choice. The country fried steak, although both crunchy and seasoned to perfection, was like biting into straight up …
