My family has ordered to-go from here a few times now and it’s safe to say the food is a solid 10/10. Fish tastes great, fresh and not greasy. Shrimp is good too. The fries are standard but good. A family meal comes with fish, fries, hushpuppies, coleslaw and plenty of tartar sauce. They even throw in lemons and ketchup which is great. If you’re in the area definitely give this place a try.
I highly recommend this seafood restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious, always prepared perfectly. Fish, shrimp, oysters, always cooked just enough... not overdone or underdone. You should give it a try!
This was the first time we have tried this place after numerous rave reviews from family. Let me tell you the hype is real! We were so impressed by the professionalism and kindness of the staff! We ordered the #2 Family bundle and boy was it fresh! The Food is beyond phenomenal! The price is spot on for what you get, the portions are generous! This is our new Go To for Sea Food from here on out! It literally feels like going to that one family members house who ALWAYS has Bomb food! Thank you guys for making our dinner a winner! Please give this place a try you will not regret it!
Great Customer service and Great food.
Stopped here for lunch after my hair appointment. Love their food. It’s a great place to go. If you want to have a meal by yourself white staff is really very friendly too.
My first experience of many! The food was inexpensive, fast, and delicious. The staff is very friendly and willing to help with any questions I had. I had the grilled shrimp and it was perfect. My husband had the fried fish, with I typically don't go for because most crusts are hard and overpower the meat, but this one was flakey, thin, and had a good taste. Will definitely be coming back
Shrimp fish oyster and clams all very tasty 😋 the oysters are small but with a serving of 8oz it's a perfect amount to satisfy the palate. Price was perfect for the amount of food we got. The muffins are very good. The coleslaw is good the green beans I can do without. Overall a good experience definitely will be going back!! The Restaurant was very clean I like that you can get a clear shot of the kitchen and the staff handling the food. Definitely recommend this Place!!!
Great thick fish filets with French fries hush puppies and coleslaw. Great price. It has become my new goto for family fish orders. Place is a little cramped for seating that's why I only order to go.
Good food, good service and nice atmosphere.
Looking for a seafood place for lunch and glad I found Lighthouse. The decor is charming and the staff were friendly. I had the #2 special (fish and shrimp) plus carrot raisin salad. It was all delicious and affordable. Putting this place in my go-to folder whenever I in San Antonio.
This was our first time eating here. We wanted some fried fish. We loved the food it was very tasty and the coconut shrimp was very crisp and delicious.the coleslaw was very good and the corn on the cob as well. We really enjoyed our meal. The price was very reasonable for 2 people. We will definitely come back
Such a cute little friendly place. The food was delicious and the people were so kind and helpful.
It's a small and unassuming restaurant, but the food is outstanding! Many years of experience by staff in seafood restaurant businesses shows in the quality of their food.
My husband heard about this place from Joe Acker from the insurance place down the street. He gave it great reviews. So we went. It was very very good. I has fried fish and class He has gumbo and coconut shrimp. We ate and ate.. The food was perfect.. I told him That was the absolute best Cole slaw I ever had... It was phenomenal... The atmosphere was pretty drab but the food was superb..
Great customer service and Great sea food.
It was an extremely delicious meal at a very reasonable price!
This place is definitely one of the best places for sea food. In my top 5 for sure. The food, the service, the nostalgic atmosphere reminiscent of my younger days when we were taken out to real good quality food at decent prices. Everything about my experience was great. Definitely recommend it if you're in search of great sea food, and great portions at great prices. Bring the family and friends you won't be disappointed.
Great food very nice employees.
Great experience, the food was absolutely delicious
What a sweet little Hidden Gem!!! Been here a few times but it had been a while … walked in at 11:04 - super clean and greeted by friendly staff!! The fish was 1000% good - the hush puppies were DELICIOUS!!! A real treat!!! Crispy fries and good Cole slaw … yummmm!!! GO & ENJOY!!! We will be back!!!
Good music, delicious food and good prices and service. Ceviche is my favorite
This is a fantastic spot. This was my first time here, and we had to order the food to go because we had other appointments to attend to. The restaurant was busy but very clean. They scored a 100 on their inspection. My partner and I both ordered the fish sandwich with fries and I wish I had taken a picture but couldn't wait to eat as soon as we got home. I had to smell the food in the car and there was no way I was going to wait any longer to eat. It was a large sandwich, the fish batter was crispy and flavorful. They gave us both a large cut of fish, it was bigger than the bun. Definitely a great value at an excellent price. I look forward to returning to dine in and try other items on their menu. I'll make sure to take some pictures then.
(04-15-2022) The Lighthouse Seafood. I had the shrimp fish soup. It was very good. In my opinion it was comfort soup. To drink I had a lemonade and it was excellent. The building is small so get there early to get a table. They had 12 tables there and a flat screen t.v. If we're in the area, we'll stop and eat.
Our first time coming here, the food was very delicious. Coconut shrimp was very delicious as well as the Fish platter atmosphere was awesome. Music was played the oldies if you love oldies you Like I do gotta bring my mom over like I said come on down and wonderful food !!
I rate the "food" five stars, not because it's gourmet but because it's consistently good good! In all the years we've been ordering food from this local, family owned business, we've never been disappointed! The prices are fair for the amount and quality of food. We always keep coming back for their zesty fish (it's worth the extra charge).
Great fish and shrimp as well as other great dishes!! Also the oldies playing just makes it that much better!!
Fabulous food and gumbo. Restaurant is a bit noisy but clean and comfortable.
Best fish and shrimp I really enjoyed the meal it was delicious and fresh seafood
Food was excellent! I had the Salmon steak plate, and it was cooked perfectly! Lite, flakey and very full of flavor! Outside parking can be a challenge but doable. Place is small, clean and friendly! The wait was a little long but that's to be expected anywhere on a Friday.. during LENT.
Small Ocean decorated restaurant. I do enjoy their fish and shrimp special. My husband didn't care too much for the cocktail as it's liquidy but it did have good flavor & big portion . We tend to like the thicker version of the MX cocktail. Service has been quick and very nice. Cost:Shrimp Cocktail , Fish Sandwich w/gumbo, shrimp& fish special , a fish plate & 3 drinks was $50. 😁
Food was so good I forgot to take a picture. I had the fried fish and shrimp. Everything was really good. I will be coming back for sure!
Went to The Lighthouse Seafood at 1211 Fredericksburg Rd. and ordered the fish & shrimp platter with corn, green beans, and a corn muffin (cornbread) & Coconut shrimp platter with fries, green beans, and hushpuppies Totaling $32.12 (which includes a charge for using the card and a to go charge). Although we were stuck in traffic on the way home, the food was still hot and soooo filling!
One of my favorite spots! Their green veggies are hot and taste fresh. The fish and shrimp tasted GREAT! Definitely cheaper than the other spots in town, and they also have similar sized portions. Super nice staff and good food will bring me back all the time. I've hit them up many times during the pandemic. Go pay them a visit!
Our first time here. We first ordered our food at counter, then found a table. We were served in a timely manner. The food was delicious. We will be going more often. I took pictures of plates we ordered, my plate with rice also had coleslaw it doesn’t show in picture- I highly recommend this place!!!!
Our first time here and definitely won't be our last. The restaurant is nice and clean. The music played is some nice golden oldies. The employees are extremely kind and patient. We ordered the 2 fish, 8 shrimp, and 2 sides. For sides we both got the coleslaw and fries. We also ordered half onion rings and ceviche with tortilla chips. Fish: perfectly battered and tender. Great flavor. Fries: crispy and good. Tartar sauce: really good! They do give a small cup but you can request for more. Hush puppies: 3 were given and they are crispy and yet tender inside. Packs a great amount of flavor. Onion rings: nicely battered, crunchy, and the taste is perfect it isn't that strong onion type. Ceviche: very fresh and refreshing. Delicious Tortilla chips: sturdy style of chips. I think my hubby should have chosen saltine crackers instead. Sweet tea: perfect amount of sweetness. Free refills. Next time I will try their jumbo shrimp! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.
The Lighthouse Seafood Restaurant is located a short distance due west on Fredericksburg from I-10 freeway, it is the only building on a small triangle lot that makes the restaurant look smaller on the outside because it's an optical blue illusion, but once you step inside you get a good surprise; it's bigger inside. The Lighthouse Seafood Restaurant is a family owned and run restaurant that has been in business for nine years and serves up seafood that is well priced and good. The owners and staff are professional and friendly, with the prices around $10.00 dollars. The food is plenty, filling and good. We will definitely return to try a different plate.
First visit and we’re impressed! Fresh, flavorful seafood with crispy fish, shrimp, and sides. Friendly staff, clean place, and great prices. Everything tasted amazing, definitely coming back again!
Fried fish was good as well as the ceviche. I wasn't keen on the fries. I don't know if it was because I weren't salted enough or they were on the dry end of the scale. My Pop had the lemon pepper fish plate and he loved it. Like lots of businesses, they charge 3% on card usage, so go with cash if you want to avoid that. Other than that, the food was great 👍🏼
When you first walk in, you think you've made a huge mistake. The place looks like a third world slop trough. But you notice the patrons are looking happy, the place seems lively and then you just might find a couple of employees eating at a table in the corner. So you choke back your apprehensions and place your order. Which may take a minute as the options are widely varied and somewhat surprising. When your order arrives you're immediately surprised at how everything looks somebody's mom made it. Not a commercial assembly line. A neighborhood kitchen. Made with love and heart. And then you get started. Inexplicably it tastes even better than it looks. And just keeps getting better with every bite. The portions are generous, the ingredients fresh and prepared with care. Clearly the people that work here eat here for a reason. And you know you'll be coming back. Soon.
Food was fresh and delicious. It's a little hole in the wall close to Coolcrest. It was some of the best fried seafood I've had in San Antonio.
If you’re a Seafood lover, then this is the place for you. They get super busy so please be patient when ordering over the phone. My boss orders the coconut shrimp tacos here nearly every week. I liked the Cheeseburgers. Comes with a thick patty and great taste!
It was my first time eating seafood at this establishment. My usual place is Rudy's but wanted to find a place that was closer to my house. The service was great and the employees were very nice and polite. The food was good except for the jumbo shrimp because some pieces were undercooked and I just couldn't finish the shrimp. The fries were excellent along with the hushpuppies and other sides that I got. I would give it another try for sure but may skip the shrimp itself.
Been wanting to try this place very good and reasonable
Science has made major advances in the cloning of human cells. Similarly, the restaurant business long ago figured out how to clone restaurants which are called franchises. I believe that I have found a clone, however, that is not part of a franchise and will elaborate. First of all let me say that the whomever selected the color palette for the restaurant design was not afraid of it, color that is. The glaring blue boxy building with a large lighthouse painted on the exterior at the corner of Fred. and Huisache slaps the eye into focus like a wet fish hitting one in the face. The interior is of similar color boldness, but with a lime sherbet green made electric under fluorescent lamps that leaves one feeling a little fuzzy and maybe a wee bit seasick. A spartan interior with sparse wall decoration and a concrete floor adds to a galley feel and make it known in no uncertain terms that you are here for one purpose, to eat seafood. The fried fish and shrimp offerings more than vaguely parallel a well known family owned operation that contains "island" in the name. I ordered the lunch special "B" which the menu here lists as #1. The light breading on the mild white fish and the fresh gulf shrimp were wholly familiar to me as I enjoyed crispy bite after crispy bite followed by intermittent swigs from a tall bottle of Mexican Coke. The cole slaw came in a larger serving and was similar, but crispy and fresh versus the island's sometimes mushy and insipid little plastic cup full, the fries were done to the point of a slight brown on the outside with the inside still sporting hot, soft potato, and the hush puppies were good, but needed the flavor boost of a little onion. Dipping my shrimp into the balanced, smooth and creamy tartar sauce with my eyes closed, I could easily have been sitting inside the other place with island in the name and that's saying something both for the fried seafood and the tartar sauce. I would even go so far as to say that if the cook did not spend some time chefing for this island restaurant, then tilapia is the tastiest fish you will ever put in your mouth. Not!!! I did notice on the menu that the restaurant would fry up one of these nasty bait fish whole for your dining pleasure, but I will try not to hold that transgression against them. Prices seems to be relatively comparable, but the menu is not quite as large with as much variety as the island place. They do have one item that is not shared between the two restaurants being compared, however, and that's shrimp tacos; 2 for $6.95 with cole slaw! I have got to get me some of these next time.
Decided to finally try this place out, the food is ok. A good portion of the staff is friendly. Will I come back? If it's one of the last options available to me , maybe.
The staff was friendly and the food came out hot and fresh. My only gig was that I'm not a big fried food eater. Was working in the area and popped in for lunch. Got there early. As we were eating lunch the place filled up fast. It was obvious this was a popular hang out. Although I did not care much for the fried food I got. It was clear everyone around me definitely enjoyed the food.
The food was decent — we just stopped in on our way to the rodeo — but the service was very disappointing. The restaurant is quite small, maybe around 15 tables, yet the staff had a sign posted asking customers to leave immediately after finishing their meal. Honestly, they should add another sign explaining that you’re not allowed to sit until your order has been placed. It felt very unprofessional and frankly rude to be asked to get up from our table while my husband was still ordering. What made it worse was that there were at least three empty tables and other customers already seated without tickets. The policy seemed inconsistent and unnecessary, which really took away from the experience.
The food is good, but now pricey. Portions have dropped since they first open this establishment. I stopped going and referring people because of the guy at the register. He is very rude and acts like a tough guy. Save your money!
I have been to this seafood restaurant several times and although the fried seafood is delicious. I’ve have always wanted to try the blacken fish. Well I finally did and I was very disappointed, the fish was overcooked, and all they did was just add the seasoning to the top of the fish after it was overcooked. No flavor, and it made me lose my appetite.
Dont waste your time or money. Trust me your not missing out. Food was very bland. I was extremely disappointed. The restaurant was uncomfortably hot. They have shop fans that offer very little help. Staff wasnt friendly and owner was extremely rude. I honestly dont know how this place has gotten good reviews. If i could give negative stars i would. I dont recommend this place at all.
I went last week on a Thursday. It was after 1pm and all the food was old, it wasn't fresh and even tasted a Lil spoiled. I didn't even ask for my money back because this place was recommended to me by a friend and me and him even got into a argument over this place. I just got up and left. The place is cool and people are nice but just because you hand me old food wiff a smile doesn't make it good. 🎅🏿🙌🏿
Parking was horrible, the tables are next to the order line , the dining atmosphere was not clean enough for me, the the busses cart with left over food and trash was left at the entrance of the front door, buss girl used the same hand towel for all the tables to whipe down, lunch order took too long to prepare, debit transaction have and additional ser charge, the staff was not so much polite to our party. The food was just fish and oil nothing to special I don't see why it would take so long to prepare. The customers bring the money to the business. There was a huge lack of respect for the customers Lastly the dining room area can be cleaned up
The worst food, service and over price for what they call food. After eating it both of us had diarrhea all day. I don’t recommend at all. Their response when I called was it not us. It’s was the only place and food I ate at that day.
Don't waste your time, money, or appetite. This place was awful and it's beyond me how it could possible have good reviews. The food was extremely bland to the point it was gross! The portion size was good, but doesn't count for much if the food is awful. I've been curious about this place for a while so I thought I'd give it a try but i regret it. My drink was $3 and they charge an extra $1 per refill. The staff wasn't friendly and the place was soo hot it was uncomfortable. I'll never go back. You're better off at a fast food seafood place. Nothing gets much worse than this place.
We came here due to Texas Eats review and thought to give it a try. It was a 30 minute wait for our food after paying and sitting. I ordered steak and shrimp with rice green beans and hush puppies. My son got chicken nuggets and fries. My husband got fish and shrimp with fries and hush puppies. Nothing had seasoning or flavor, not even the breading. Hush puppies were the size for toddlers. For the price payed of $50+ and portions I suggest going to SEA ISLAND this IS NOT IT. All of our food we had to season our selves it tasted like nothing, they also did not have Tabasco. I understand why people ordered to go rather than dining in. All to go containers you MUST pay 25 cents for and they will remind you. The lady that came out on the Food Eats review that works there even got up from her eating to let me know. The man cleaning tables was spraying cleaner without moving the condiments, salt or pepper shakers, yes it was sprayed on top of them. If you ask me, I would NOT use them. Crumbs etc off the tables meanwhile he was cleaning were left on the floor afterwards no he did not sweep or pick it up. Steak was a joke, I ordered medium well and I got an over done and tasted like nothing. A1 saved it, like wise with the rest of the food tartar sauce and the capped lid lemon pepper seasoning was used to save our food and coins. If the floor and ceiling tile were replaced and they painted certain areas, it definitely would look better. Although the service, tables and murals were alright we will not be coming back this place is VERY MID. Again if you want to order food to need to have to season yourself that has no flavor, this is the place for you! I honestly don’t know how people like this place or give it 5 stars. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.
