Visited the Restaurant this week, had a great experience overall, the menu was a bit complicated to understand but the lovely waitress helped me order. Good food
Excellent service — quick and friendly. We ordered several dishes and everything arrived on time. The coffee and desserts were a highlight.
I was visiting the area for work (tattoo convention) and decided to stop here with my friend. Single handedly one of the best avocado toasts/breakfast in general ive had in my entire life. Can’t wait to come back again in October to have it! The poached eggs on toast. The chutney was AMAZING
The food was delicious and the service flawless. The team seemed more coordinated, which made the whole experience smoother and more enjoyable.
Great experience today at Avoca, the food was wonderful and the staff friendly. Definitely recommended!!
I had the chicken and waffles for brunch, not sure if they were seasonal as I can’t select them on this review. The staff are so pleasant, accommodating and quick. Never had to ask for water, immediately got my coffee. I never leave reviews but our server(s) were so sweet, especially the blonde ponytail girl (think her name is Julia?). Will definitely be coming again, pricey but worth it in my opinion, ambiance is very comfy and the warm.
Nice little spot in ballsbridge. Ideal for breakfast and brunch as a weekend treat. Lovely warm atomsphere and well space out. Staff were friendly and quick with service. Venue was very clean and well kept. Portions are quite big so ideal for sharing if you are not hungry. French toast and pancakes were very tasty and would get them again. Very reasonably priced. Two meals and two drinks were about 30eu. Would definitely go back
Highly recommended. We went in early September for my wife's birthday. I had booked a table and told her it was her birthday. They brought her a muffin with a candle, very nice detail. The breakfast was very delicious. It was plentiful and everything was very well combined. The place is amazing, ideal for a special event. The staff was very attentive and warm. I would come back without hesitation.
We visited Fodder Restaurant today, and the scones were delicious some of the best coffee I’ve ever had! The place is quiet and cozy, and both the waitress and the manager were attentive to us the whole time, making us feel right at home. Thank you, Avoca!
Very delicious food, amazing atmosphere and service. Thank you very much
Unfussy menu, excellent produce clearly cooked to perfection, Fodder is a real surprise at the rear of the splendidly stocked and chic Avoca café and deli, fronting Shelbourne Road. Good for "business lunches" and treats at the weekend, have only been there midweek so maybe there's more of a buzz at the weekend..
Here I've eaten the best Cesar salad ever The place is quite nice and cozy, the staff is friendly and we received a warmth welcome. Plus what you eat it's all good and bio, provided from the local farmers from around Dublin. I will be here next time I'm in Dublin 👍🏻
Visited for breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Great menu selection for adults and kids (thank God!), and the food itself was delicious. Staff were accommodating and pleasant. Will definitely be back for more.
We just had a bank holiday brunch at Avoca, firstly we were so happy to find a open place during bank holiday, not to mention when it is Avoca. We were 4 and we ordered poached egg on bread with mushroom, full Irish breakfast and baked egg shaksuka, very happy with our choices. The staff is very friendly but because of the music it is a bit noisy.
Always a reliable place for a tasty lunch. The menu is small but the food is always tasty and clearly very fresh. Reasonably priced considering how generous the portion sizes are. Service can be a little slow at times but the staff are lovely.
The food is great! I had the run-of-the-mill breakfast, which includes all the Irish morning favorites. The toast with the jam went well with the black pudding. Freshly squeezed orange juice, so delicious. The only reason this place doesn't receive 5 stars is that, as others have mentioned, the wait staff can be preoccupied and slow to take an order or refill water. The quality is great, but this will come at a cost. Not sure if Dublin is expensive, or if it's this place, a tourist two cents.
Great coffee and food, lovely staff and service.
We went for brunch on Saturday and the food was absolutely amazing…so delicious. Unfortunately, the service was horrible (non-existent). We had to go physically find a server 2 times. It might have just been an off day for them….but they seemed severely understaffed. Food was excellent though.
Really nice place to eat. I met a colleague here, we wanted to eat breakfast in the restaurant area but it didn’t open until 08:30, so we took yogurt & coffee in the other area instead. Lovely cake selection, good variety!
Visit for the first time and the atmosphere is really nice. I ordered a mussels and prawn linguine, it was quite nice. I got more mussels than prawns and approx around 4 medium prawns. The minus one star is i asked for a spoon and it never arrived and i had to go up to the till to ask for it
Went here for breakfast on a weekday. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was good and generously portioned - an exception was the scone, which was very unremarkable (a surprise, given the ready-made ones that they sell in the Avoca store part!) The music - much too loud and way too trashy for an establishment like this. Too bad, as the decor projects elegance and class.
Good spot for a lunch. Service was a bit late but the food was tasty. Meal portions was good and the staff was helpful and welcoming
Fabulous food, fabulous setting, all staff excellent..But..experience almost ruined by terrible restaurant manager who would be better suited to the storage room. Her attitude from arrival to departure was appalling, she did not want to be there, sulked at several requests and refused to let us split the bill into two payments, eventually gave in. Big pity, gorgeous venue, she is taking down the value.
Have been here a few times but today my wife I both ordered the avocado, feta on toast with eggs and sausage and no drinks which came to €50 with tip which we though was a bit of a rip off. Lovely seating area and friendly enough staff though.
Had a generally good experience here except for one thing. Ordered the baked egg shakshuka and the flavours were on point however the egg was basically cooked to cremation. No runny yolk to be seen and the whites were chewy and rubbery. Looked around at the meals being sent out to others and the "poached" eggs were also looking very hard boiled. For the price you pay to eat here it shouldn't be too much to ask for a runny egg yolk.
Ok food, If a little overpriced (one piece of hard-ish sourdough bread wit avocado, two small poached eggs and a little bit of salmon on the side for €17). My real issue though is the unattentive staff that didn't come even though my plate was empty for 20min and the place wasn't busy)
Love this place usually. However, food prices have gone up a lot, but quality has gone down a bit in the cafe. Hopefully a temporary blip. Coffee remains excellent.
No gluten free option, apart from a tiny chia muffin (?) placed next to regular cakes, so unsuitable for coeliacs. 😬 Other Avoca cafes have scones / meringues... Definitely would not recommend.
The new menu is disappointing and over priced for what you receive. Service poor, waiting 45+ for a simple order. This used to be a lovely place for brunch, won’t be returning.
Overpriced. Breakfast was dried-out microwaved scrambelled eggs and bland tasteless sausages. At these prices please cook the eggs properly, and buy better sausages. Coffee was good. Staff informed me that the tip could only be left in cash? This is a pity because the restaurant and adjoining shop is architecturally very nice
Food good enough but pricey compared to surrounding eateries. Poor service doesnt equate to higher than average prices. My beverage order was wrong. When I followed up and asked for a replacement, I was waiting over the entire meal and never received it, despite being told it was on its way. I kept waiting then asked for it in a takeaway cup. Still nothing. After the meal I followed up with a different member of staff who told me they could make it up straight away no problem and apologised. I declined and just preferred to leave it at this stage. A disappointing experience, wouldn't bother go back!
Great food, nice ambience, and the server was very pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately the Front of House (young woman with long dark ponytail) was very brash and at times rude. Really took away from the overall experience.
Look I’m sure the food was good but I wouldn’t know because they made me wait for 5 minutes by the host stand while they said they’d be over in “2 seconds” doing menial tasks that absolutely could’ve waited an actual 2 seconds just to come over and tell me the kitchen was closed. Why would you make me wait that long just to say you’re not serving food and wouldn’t be for another 45 minutes? Surely give me a heads up?
What in God's name did they do to the menu? Non-sensical rubbish.
What a freaking joke. I went there for my lunch break and I did not even get the menu after 20 min. I had to leave as it in the middle of the week and I don't have two hours to eat. But if you lucky, some people had better waiters than me and their order arrive when I left. I would not recommend.
Sat right away as arrived 9:50am as was not busy but 20 minutes for order to be taken for coffee, another 15 minutes to get said coffee, order was not fully correct but waitress just dropped & left when we tried to speak, 50 minute wait for food, food was barely warm & sub par. Asked for water twice, no water ever came. Had to wait to pay at till with no other customers there while waitresses done minimal tasks ( like put cups away), Manager came, slapped bill down & said €48.30. 1 hour 40 minutes for a terrible Sunday breakfast experience.
Not one to leave reviews but this food was not up to scratch for €57 for brunch for two people. The pancakes and bacon were burnt to a crisp along with burnt and overcooked eggs in the shakshuka, with little to no sauce accompanying them. The only good thing about the meal were the chips. Food appeared to be reheated under a grill and not cooked fresh. Second bad experience here with overcooked food. Won’t be returning. Scandalous price for food that’s below average. Only wish I had sent the food back.
I went in expecting a good meal, but unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing. We ordered two full Irish breakfasts and ended up waiting OVER AN HOUR with no explanation for the delay. I asked about our order twice, and both times staff simply said it was “coming up soon,” but it clearly wasn’t — it still took a very long time. When the food finally arrived, it was COLD, which made the long wait even more frustrating. Throughout the visit, the service felt unprofessional, and no one offered an apology or any clarification about what was happening. Overall, the combination of poor service, long wait times, and cold food made this a place I wouldn’t return to.
Good food but nothing outstanding, higher to average price compared to other similar places in Dublin. Went there with a sporty outfit after a walk and asked for a table inside as there were a bunch of tables available but we were told that all were booked and asked to seat outside alone. When we were done after 1 hour, pretty much all the same tabes were still available… Hard no to think that there were other “reasons” beyond bookings for that.
Was with my friend and 2 babies, tried to get table at 11.45 was told service didn’t start until 12.15. We were offered an outdoors table which we took. We ordered coffees then told we couldn’t have food even if we waited until 12.15 as all tables booked out until after 2. This was a lie. Went online and booked indoor table for 2 at 12.30. Went inside to pay for coffee and ask for our indoor table one staff member said to the other I don’t know where to put them with the buggies under her breath. Eventually seated us beside the open door. Rest of the experience average food was ok but overall shocked by the rudeness of the staff. Really felt unwanted and that we were a nuisance because we had young babies with us.
Avoid food is nothing amazing for the prices there charging. We waiter over 40 mins for food, for it all to come out wrong. Asked for a plain burger with just the bun and bread and got cheese and onions on it. Also never received chips with the burger like it said on the menu. The young male server was very friendly and tried to help but the girl who took our order was pure rude. Bill came to €70 with no compensation. Will not be returning till staff are trained on how to take an order and food improves
