The food is amazing but doesn’t compare to the service! Our bartender Hayden went above and beyond and made our night. DeVito’s offers service that is rare and hard to come by, and I’ll definitely be back because of it.
Food was great, the fillet we ordered was cooked perfect so was veal. We asked for espresso martinis to be ready at table before we got there, and they had it out. Great wine list too.
Amazing place! Great atmosphere and outstanding service from the manager and the entire team. The food is truly special — excellent presentation, incredible flavor, and high quality. Definitely at the level of international restaurants. Highly recommended. Go and experience it for yourself!
We stumbled into this place across the street from our hotel and were immediately impressed by our good luck. Our server, Mario, was exceptional, as was the rest of the staff. The food was exactly as ordered, and prepared with obvious attention to detail and mazing balancing of flavors. All-in-all, it was a phenomenal evening and we will surely add this to our agenda next time we are in Tampa.
This place is the best ever. Food was perfect and we had the honor or our server Marcos who happens to be the manager here. He is lovely and his story from Ecuador is the very best. He’s class all the way and the very best American Dream story. I can’t recommend it enough.
From the moment I walked in Marcos had a glass of water and a menu ready for me. The food was delicious and the service even better. He truly cares about his guests and the service/quality he provides. Will definitely be back. Recommended highly! The dishes I had was the bruchetta tomato basil, house salad with roasted beets and the rigatoni Bolognese. Finished with tiramisu. Incredible.
This review is much overdue. This was my second time dining at DeVito’s in about a month apart. Same situation, early dinner then off to a show nearby. Let’s start with the Tito’s Cosmopolitan…. Let me tell you it is just about the most perfect drink I have ever had. This coming from someone who lived in NYC for the past 15yrs and moved to Tampa in January 2025. The bartender (Henry or Harry (I apologize if it’s incorrect)) has the magic touch with mixing drinks. At the very least my cosmopolitan that he makes is just out of this world!!! Perfect balance of sweet and tart with the perfect color! Onto the food…. I have had the penne alla vodka twice and both times they were just as delicious as the first bite!! The vodka sauce is made to perfection. Not too heavy on the cream but still oh so delicious just the same!!! My boyfriend had the chicken parm on the first visit and the chicken piccata the second. He swears they were both savory and delicious. He doesn’t eat much on his plate and he almost cleaned each dish each time!! We ordered the garlic bread and it was sublime!!!! It’s almost like a cheat code they were so good like my cosmo!!! 👏🏾 Lastly, the Tiramisu was so light and decadent. Best way to cap a perfect dinner!!! I have to give my highest regards to our server, Marcos!!! We had him as our server both times and he’s just the best! So attentive and thoughtful it not overbearing. Bravo, Marcos!!! 👏🏾 I’m so glad we found this 💎 of a restaurant!!! It really is downtown Tampa’s hidden secret!!! For sure it will be my go to for my cosmo and for dinners in the future, 100%! Thank you to all the staff members! You’re all amazing!
We dined twice at DeVito's, once at the bar with small plates, and once in the dining room. Both experiences have been perfect. The service is always excellent, you really feel welcome and the food is absolutely fantastic. A very special mention for the barman who is a super pro. Do not miss the Tiramisu martini for dessert, it is deliciously addictive.
Chef Mark is the man!! Great conversation and even better food!! I got the Calamari, Lobster Fra Diavolo & The Branzino (I can eat LOL). If you don’t get at least 2 of these you’re doing yourself a disservice. I forgot to get a pic of the calamari, and took a bite out of the Branzino before taking a pic. 100% recommend DeVito’s & I will be going back!!
DeVito’s Italian Specialties has become my downtown Tampa’s favorite when I am in town! The décor is a nice mix of modern class and Italian warmth. I’d recommend it for just about anything from date nights, informal meetings or special occasions. House-made pasta was the highlight here. The lobster tagliatelle was the stand out dish of the evening. The pasta was house made and cooked al dente. The lobster was fresh and balanced by rustic sauce. Portions were more than reasonable. Service is friendly and knowledgeable, with staff who gladly guide you through the menu and pair wines. Marcos was the ultimate host! Looking forward to the next time!
To be fair we were here at 2:00 in the afternoon between the two rush hours. This is in December and we spent all of September in Italy, so we feel we are a good judge of authentic Italian food. I had the rigatoni Bolognese and my wife had the eggplant Parmesan. Both were excellent. I had a glass of super Tuscan and it was also excellent. Ditto the limoncello cake and espresso (sorry, no decaf). José gave us great service, but to be fair we were the only guests for most of that time. To address other reviewers' concerns: I do not tolerate garlic very well. I was surprised that Italy was not a problem for me. Neither was DeVito's. A hint of garlic but not enough to bother me. I thought the saltiness of both dishes was perfect. The only dark spot is that they ran out of Peroni on tap just before I got there. It happens and not enough to remove a star.
We loved our experience at this restaurant. Marcos (our server/host) did a great job explaining the menu and describing the items. We substituted on both the Branzino and Veal Saltimbocca pasta for vegtable (no upcharge). The veal included 2 big pieces of veal, perfectly cooked and melted in mouth (not a single chewy piece in any of it). 10 out of 10. The branzino was nice to have deboned. Again a rather large serving. Throughout the meal Marcos checked in a gave us whatever we needed.
Weeks later, and i am still thinking about the meal I enjoyed here. I sat at the bar and asked for the bartender's recommendations with drinks. After asking what my choice liquors were, he paired drinks with every single course. The drinks were delicious and made my appetizer, entree, and dessert even better. The food was very good, the drinks were very good, but the service tied them together into an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend.
This was our first time at this restaurant and we will DEFINITELY return! The portions are large enough to share. We shared on arancini appetizer which comes with 3 different sauces: pesto, marinara & ricotta. We had the chicken parm and the chicken Milanese. Great breading being light & crispy. We also ordered the cheesecake w Berry topping. The cheesecake was a generous piece to share and super light and fluffy and so delicious! The wait staff was super friendly and attentive!
We stopped by DeVito’s because we were in the mood for Italian and wanted to explore downtown Tampa during our long weekend stay in St. Pete Beach. Getting into Tampa, though? That’s a journey all on its own. If you’re not doing at least 30 mph over the speed limit, you’re basically standing still. The silver lining? We beat Google Maps’ ETA by a solid 10 minutes — small wins! Now for the important part — the food and the experience. DeVito’s is a classy, welcoming spot with a cozy yet upscale vibe. I’ll admit, I might’ve been slightly biased — one of my best friends is a DeVito, and that may have nudged me toward giving this place a try. Either way, we’re glad we did. We started with a couple of appetizers because, frankly, I was starving. The mozzarella-stuffed sausage was a standout — rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The bruschetta was also fresh and vibrant, with the perfect crunch and a generous helping of tomato and basil on top. For our entrees, the dishes kept the momentum going. My wife had the lobster-stuffed ravioli, which she gave a solid 10/10 — and I have to agree, especially since I happily helped her finish it (no leftovers on a road trip!). Our server was excellent — attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely friendly, which made the whole experience even better. You can tell the staff takes pride in both the service and the food. All in all, DeVito’s delivered across the board — great atmosphere, delicious food, and top-notch service. We’ll definitely be recommending this place to friends and family visiting the Tampa area. It's worth the drive… even if you have to risk life and limb on the highway to get there!
We just returned home from our anniversary dinner at DeVito’s. It was incredible. The decor is classy, but not stuffy. Music was old crooners which I love. Food was amazing and service was impeccable. We started off with the arrancini and the burrata caprese — both were delicious and plenty to share between 2 people. Then we had veal marsala and veal saltimbocca, and finished off splitting a slice of cheesecake with berries. I can’t believe anyone would have a complaint about portions or flavor of the food. It was incredible from start to finish. And our server was General Manager, Marcos, who was so friendly! We will be back!
We had a wonderful experience at DeVito's. The food and the service were incredible. The food was absolutely delicious! The staff greeted us as we walked in and continuously checked on us to see if we needed anything. The location also has beautiful modern decor. I would highly recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner to anyone visiting the city of Tampa. It is within walking distance (3 blocks) to the convention center and the Riverwalk. A must place to visit!
Devito’s is an absolute hidden gem in downtown Tampa that I hope many people discover. We had a wonderful time celebrating Mother’s Day there; the refined atmosphere, exceptional service, and phenomenal Italian cuisine made it truly special. Everything is fresh, delicious, and expertly crafted, from the refreshing salads to the spectacular pasta and out-of-this-world mozzarella cheese made by its chef! And the desserts? Pure perfection—especially the tiramisu and cheesecake. If you love Italian food, value high quality service, and want an outstanding place for a celebration… this is a top choice!
5 stars! First time at DeVito’s in downtown Tampa last night. Top Tier, upset I haven’t tried this spot sooner. The truffle pasta dish was insane—legit Michelin star vibes. The service, on point! The staff was so friendly and welcoming, I felt like I left with new friends. The vibe is cozy and feels like money with the marble floors, the food is elite, and the energy is all love. Perfect spot for date night or a chill dinner with the crew.
We only found this restaurant as we were looking for somewhere to dine within walking distance to The Straz Center. This spot is quaint and beautifully decorated. Seating was comfortable and it had a nice bar area. It was 5:30 so it was rather quiet and we enjoyed that. Don't know if gets loud as the evening progresses. We will have to come back again. We ordered the seafood stew and the Lobster ravioli. I automatically ask for grated cheese but turned the waiter away as it was definitely not needed. Both of our dishes were wonderful. Our praises for The Chef! We will definitely be back. Nice place to go as a couple or with friends and super relaxed if you're alone as well.
Sad they didn’t have the octopus carpaccio but still delicious. Prices are very reasonable $18 for a lunch portion sized penne all a vodka. I would say it was more tomato, like a salsa de tomate. Nice ambiance Wine is great. House Pinot $10 a glass I would give it another try.
Location of the restaurant was good, but bit disappointed with the food. The presentation of every food item was excellent, but it lacked the flavor and aroma. The food was ok and cannot really say that it’s worth coming back. Items were pricey, but quite disappointed with the taste. Service and ambience was very good. Their crab and lobster ravioli was bit hard, like I said, the flavor was missing. The breaded chicken was bit hard and chewy. Salmon was good. Overall experience was good, if they improve on the taste, would be worth going.
Devito’s Italian Specialties has a really nice ambience — cozy, welcoming, and perfect for a casual dinner. The atmosphere feels authentic and comfortable, and the staff was friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the visit. That said, the food was just average. It wasn’t bad by any means, but it also didn’t stand out or feel particularly memorable compared to other Italian spots in Tampa. Overall, a pleasant experience for the vibe and service, but I was hoping for a little more from the dishes themselves.
Came here for my wife’s 35th birthday. We are Italian so have a high standard for Italian food which was met half way. The buratta salad was dry and only flavored by the pesto sauce not the buratta as it should be. Our entrees also left much to be desired for the price. My wife’s $30 pasta with braccioli rabe and sausage was quite watery. My $45 lobster raviolis with shrimp was good but too much salt in the sauce. Service was okay but left me wanting. Granted it was a busy Friday but our water glasses were never refilled, despite sitting at our table for nearly 2 hours. I also noted in reservation & told the staff twice we were celebrating my wife’s birthday but no acknowledgment, song, or birthday dessert was given but was provided at other tables, which really rubbed us the wrong way. Overall, not a bad meal but not worth the price give the variety of good Italian restaurants in Tampa.
Visited during a quick trip to Tampa for a Yankees game after hearing great things about this place. The food was good — the bread and arancini were excellent, and the quality overall was solid, though portions were moderate for the price. Unfortunately, the service was extremely disappointing. We waited about 25 minutes just to place our order and over an hour for our entrées. Getting water, drinks, or basic attention was very difficult. One dish arrived incorrect, and we were later told they had run out of the main ingredient hours earlier but no one informed us when we ordered. The primary server was not welcoming or friendly, and interactions felt rushed and impersonal. One staff member was pleasant but clearly overwhelmed, and the restaurant appeared seriously understaffed. While the food was good, the service experience fell far short of expectations and does not justify the price point.
It was my first time eating here tonight and I’m very disappointed and unimpressed. I was expecting higher quality of food based off the reviews and prices of the dishes. I’m just a little confused about everything. We started off ordering the *table side* Caesar salad. Thinking it was going to be made fresh infront of us. No, they just brought over 3 small plates of Caesar salad and didn’t say anything about it. Ok.. My pasta sauce was very watery, served to me room temperature, not hot at all, almost cold. The “crispy” pancetta wasn’t crispy. Basically raw and chewy. My cousin said her dish was bland almost no flavor. And my grandmother barely ate hers because she wasn’t a fan either. Also when we tried to order entrees the server had to go back and forth to check to see if they had it or not. They were out of one of the salads we tried to order. Should’ve been prepared for the night and known what you have and don’t have to tell for dinner time. Weird , Maybe it was just a bad night for the restaurant. Not sure.
We have been coming here for our office birthday lunches for the last two years. Today we came in with 7 people for an employees birthday. The portions are half of what they were a few months ago. The server was nice but he was the only one in the restaurant. The pasta dishes were luke warm. They charge $9 for 4 small pieces of garlic bread. The bruschetta was I believe 12 or 14 dollars for four of the smallest bites of bruschetta i have ever had. We were very disappointed we have always enjoyed lunch there. The calamari and bread were the best parts of the meal
DeVito’s Restaurant — ⭐️⭐️ If you can smell the garlic wafting off this post, you’re basically tasting what we did. The penne alla vodka? More like penne alla peril. The team was lovely and comped the meal (thank you!), but even with just two drinks, our tab was still $55. The chef peeked out, probably wondering why the “table of blondes” wasn’t swooning. Let’s just say we’ll be revisiting this meal later… on the throne. Thankfully, we’ve got mint — and a sense of humor. 🌿😉
