Amazing atmosphere. Great dishes. Top notch service. Acoustics in a restaurant setting, perfection.

From start to finish, our experience at this restaurant was absolutely unforgettable. Before we even arrived, we mentioned we were celebrating my birthday, and the team went above and beyond to make it special—they surprised us with a tour of the kitchen and treated us to a special appetizer and wine on the house. The ambience was spot-on: the music selection set the perfect mood, and the live band added a really special touch. The decor and lighting were warm and inviting—stylish without feeling overdone. Every dish we tried was delicious, and the cocktails were equally impressive. But what really stood out was the service—attentive, friendly, and thoughtful throughout the evening. Highly recommend for a special night out. I can’t wait to go back!

The restaurant is chic, performances adds to the vibe and the sound system is amazing, make sure to follow there events. Also the food was delicious to share, and the cocktail menu is really unique.

We are SO LUCKY to have a restaurant of this caliber in our neighborhood. I’ve lived in the neighborhood for 11 years and can say without a shadow of a doubt, Verse is the best thing to happen around here in all that time! Beyond that, it’s become one of my (and many other people’s) favorite restaurants in all of los Angeles. The food is great, the service superb, and the music WOLRD CLASS. It’s always a safe bet when taking someone here, or recommending it, that they will absolutely fall in love, too. Thank you Verse!!

Getting there the service was a little slow but once they got to our table everything was great. The braised lamb pasta was amazing. Great wine and beautiful music.

Great food and atmosphere. The jazz band was really cool. The band leader was Oskar Cartaya.

One of the best fine dining spots in the valley. & one of the most unique spots in Los Angeles. Great food. Music and sound treated so you can hear every word your party is saying even when the place is packed

I had a fantastic evening at Verse LA! Definitely would go again. I loved the warm ambiance, attentive service and delicious food. Verse is also an intimate musical performance venue. Verse's Grammy awards winning owner put a lot of thought into the acoustics, lighting, and colors. I took a couple of photos that are posted with this review. Enjoy!

Incredible. The food is in small portions and is pricy, but if this is for a special occasion, there's hardly a better place in LA. The live music as well as the regular music are at perfect volume, the interior is spacious and well decorated, the service is impeccable, and the food is absolutely memorable and unique.

Wow. An establishment you must taste, see and experience! Came here during Valentines Day weekend to a pre fixed delicious menu. I wish I was able to capture the essence of how well proportioned and exceptional the food and flavors are. From the service to the ambiance. You will not be disappointed.

Great place for celebration. Perfect milk buns and sashimi. Drinks were phenomenal. You can actually hear yourself talk and enjoy the live music, I was shocked!!

I was recently advised by some Entertainment co-workers to check out this new hot spot hidden in North Hollywood in a very obscure undetectable location. I was pleasantly surprised not only by the LIVE Music playing but the cool Vibes, cocktails as well as appetizers, dinner and dessert. This is a wonderful date place so make sure to bring your Gold card... your Date will Thank You. 😉

We had a birthday celebration!! It was awesome. Great food, a mix of Asian and Peruvian fusion. You must make a reservation or take a chance at a seat at the bar. The place was completely full and they open promptly at 6pm. They are actually a recording studio turned into a restaurant so they have a live band with a nice sound system!! The food, drinks and service was outstanding. Oh and plenty of street parking and don't forget to bring your proof of vaccination!! We had a ball!!

High-end fancy place with great food, great drinks, and live music from some very well-known artists. We sat at the bar, and Jared took care of us. The food was delicious, and it went well with one of the best old-fashioned(Call from Tokyo) I've ever had. Highly recommend this place.

A 500$ dinner for 250$ and the best live music I've experienced. Usually I hate live music at restaurants but this is executed so we'll and tastefully i like it. It's almost as well executed as the entres which are all perfect.

The sommelier is young but wise. He is a genius with the pairings. The food is beyond incredible here. The meats and side dishes delight! The music and acoustics are designed to inspire entirely by making you feel like a rock star!

My husband, son (10)and I went last Saturday evening for our 11 year anniversary. It was absolutely wonderful. Huge thanks to the staff who accommodated our last min request to add our son. Our babysitter canceled an hour before our Date...wow. all in all I we had an amazing evening. The sqid ink octopus 🐙 was out of this world. We both loved it. I had the braised beef. It was beyond tender..like melt in your mouth perfectly cooked. Mmm my hubby had the 🦕 dinosaurs looking Wagyu Tomahawk Steak...it was literally the biggest bone I've ever seen.. wonderful. They made my very picky eater place pasta butter thanks chef. Lol now the music...if only I could have stayed longer and danced the night away. I'd love it if they had a little slow dance lounge night. ..almost forgot to mention the dessert 🍨..yummm get the cookies and cream. Get them all. That espresso soil..can you all bottle that please. We shall return. Thanks again

Very unassuming restaurant from outside. It's next door to a chiropractor's office. There's no windows on the building and no big sign, just a "V" near the door. Easy to drive by regularly and never realize a gem of a restaurant is hidden there. The acoustics in this place are phenomenal. Intending designed for the perfect sound experience that allows you to truly enjoy the live music while absorbing all the loud chatter from other tables. We were seated right next to the band and thought we wouldn't be able to talk and enjoy ourselves and yet we were comfortably able to. The live jazz music was amazing! Great band! Great atmosphere! Great service! Great food! I brought my friend here for her 50th birthday and it didn't disappoint.

This is one of the best places that I have gone to in los angeles.... I was so overly impressed, and I actually got an opportunity to see Terrace Martin... He is a true talent! Not to mention, I really enjoyed the food.... I will definitely go again.

This has become our go-to spot, and honestly, it never disappoints. We’re lucky to almost always get our favorite server, who is friendly, attentive, and really makes the experience even better. The milk buns here are to die for — we always order at least two, and if we’re feeling extra hungry, we go for three! They’re soft, fluffy, and just perfect every single time. The pork belly risotto is nothing short of amazing — rich, flavorful, and comforting. But that’s just the start. We’ve tried the croquettes, mushroom linguini, fried yucca, beans, and honestly, everything on the menu is above and beyond what we expected. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared and tastes incredible. The manager is also really kind and delightful, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Speaking of atmosphere, it’s a cozy, stylish, and perfect for a date night or any special occasion. We absolutely love this place and can’t wait for our next visit!

This restaurant is simply amazing. I have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world and seriously this might have been the best meal I can ever remember. Every dish was fantastic. Each one was so good I could not pick my favorite. Just an amazing chef. He came out to meet us and said. Never trust a skinny chef. LOL. Portions were perfect and food was a 10 out of 5. The best!! Service unbelievable, as every dish was explained to you as they served you. I simply can’t wait to go back Thanks Ross

This place is a hidden gem... How anyone could give Verse LA less than 5 stars is beyond me, it deserves 2 Michelin stars, or at least one. The staff is outstanding, the food is top notch (better than a lot of Michelin star restaurants in LA) and the different live music every night sets it into another class of restaurant. Love this place and even though it's packed every time I've been, it still somehow feels like one of LA's best kept secrets.

M
Martik Begi

Amazing live jazz and high end food and drinks but really pricey. The Acoustic volume of the music is just prefect; the place is built by a recording engineer so it almost acts as a recording studio with perfect sound.

E
Erica Crawford

Absolutely loved Verse! The food was incredible, but the ambiance really stood out. Great lighting, amazing sound (the restaurant was designed by a Grammy-winning sound engineer), and great live music that wasn’t too loud. Every detail was on point even the plates were cool. We were celebrating our birthdays, and Leslie, the hostess, surprised us with a kitchen tour and a special dessert. All the staff, including our amazing waitress, were so attentive and kind. Honestly, the food was so good. Get the milk buns, crab campanelle pasta and olive oil cake - every dish we tried was great but those stood out. Honestly but even if they had served Taco Bell, I would’ve still paid for the experience. Thank you!!

Nice place to watch a band. Food is pricey but very nice vibe. Awesome date night spot. Sometimes they have great bands performing. Romantic and moody spot. Come take a hot date! It's perfect for that! 😉

I've had nothing but amazing experiences here! Lovely ambience. The food is always special and unique. The Cocktails are super delicious. Great spot for date night, family friends in town or just grabbing a drink at the bar. Great live jazz music as well.

Make reservations if you're trying to get here on a weekend. Great spot for date nights. Live jazz music adds to the luxe atmosphere. The milk buns are divine and an absolute must have. Tartare is the other appetizer worth grabbing every time. Dry aged duck breast and the branzino are excellent entree choices. Desserts are the weak link in the menu. Of all the options, it was the olive oil cake that was a pleasant surprise.

Great food and impeccable service, our waitress Geine was extremely helpful and a breath of fresh air. The live music was top notch, this is a must if you are visiting LA. The restaurant boasts an amazing wine list selection. All in all, 5 stars 🌟

Food is a bit pricey for the portions, but it’s LA 🤷🏾‍♂️. Perfect spot for a date with your lady, not a girl you’re just dating. Jazz sets are always great. Best bread and butter convo I’ve ever had. Better than Texas Roadhouse 🤣 super sexy spot. I actually prefer it more than blue note.

Wow ! I haven't felt this kind of high-end taste for a long time. Professionalism down to the details will earn everyone's respect. Verse in North Hollywood is a standout dining and entertainment venue that masterfully blends gourmet cuisine with an immersive live music experience. The menu, curated by Chef Oscar Torres, offers a refined selection of dishes, from fresh seafood to expertly cooked steaks, all complemented by a well-crafted cocktail list. The acoustics, designed by Grammy-winning mixer Manny Marroquin, create an unparalleled atmosphere, making every live performance a treat for audiophiles. Whether you’re there for an intimate dinner or a lively night out, Verse delivers on both ambiance and quality. A must-visit for food and music lovers alike. I also found so many nice BGMs that are used in the restaurant. Great taste.

One of the best restaurants in LA. It has a great vibe and the food is just phenomenal. The duck was delightful and the cookies and cream dessert was absolutely to die for! It’s worth the trek from the west side - you’ll need a reservation for sure, thought. Milk buns are a must order as well. One note is that the restaurant is a bit of the loud side (live music too!), which some people might enjoy but others might find less desirable.

I just discovered this gem. I felt like I was I'm Beverly Hills, but without fighting in traffic or wasting time looking for parking. The food was succulent and cooked to perfection. The Jazz band is phenomenal, too. I can't say enough about the food. My plate had a very strong Peruvian taste. The oysters were some of the best ones that I ever had. Highly recommended.

The food, the acoustics, and the service = amazing. Marcus was incredibly attentive and was able to give us great advice. We asked for his opinion on the menu and he broke down his favorites by page and what we were looking for. Ultimately everything was delicious. We got the milk bread (get it!) And the spread that came with it was to die for. My French toast dessert was splendid and topped the meal off perfectly. 12/10 highly recommend!

Let me start out by saying phenomenal!!!! Verse is an absolute must when in LA. From the low key entrance outside to the dimly lit, sexy and sophisticated inside you're bound to appreciate the vibes of this place. There were a few sets of a live jazz band that set the tone. When the band wasn't playing, Verse also had a playlist going which included some of my favorite R&B songs from the 90s and 2000s which totally made the setting even more enjoyable. You absolutely have to start off with the Hokkaido Milk Buns. This is a must-try item on the menu. They were served warm and the accompanying butter was amazing. To drink, I had the Espresso Martini made to order. Perfection! I initially had wanted to order the dry-aged branzino for my main, but they were out of this. I was slightly disappointed but ended up ordering the pork belly risotto and I forgot about my disappointment. It was delicious! The pork belly was super flavorful and supple. Cooked perfectly. The dish was a perfect combination of sweet and savory. It was slightly salty, but overall still delicious and I would still recommend it. My only complaint for Verse was that I was too full to enjoy dessert!! I highly recommend without hesitation. Lastly, I wanted to make sure I recognized our server, Dawson. He was truly great. From his professionalism and kindness to his attention and knowledge of the menu.

This is some of the best service I’ve ever had! We had an absolutely incredible experience. Allan, the Manager was very attentive and happy to share details about the history of Verse. The food is next level, but also please leave space in your evening to listen to the world class quality of sound coming out of 45+ speakers. We just closed our eyes in the beginning to listen!

Enjoyed the Valentine's pri fixe menu. It is on the pricy side but the food and service were exceptional. What stands out though is the acoustics and the atmosphere especially when it is a little less crowded. Soft guitar & perfect sound better than most concert venues or clubs.

Celebrated my birthday here with friends. Everyone enjoyed the food and the lively ambience at Verse. Parking was easy - street and valet. I will definitely return and will recommend this place for special occasions!

I love the hidden element of this place! The vibe and atmosphere here are phenomenal. They have a regularly rotating menu as most establishments of fine dining do, but their fresh take on American classics is out of this world! They're doing things with food that I haven't tasted anywhere else. I'm a big foodie and can usually guess what's in my food like different seasonings, herbs, veggies, etc. The Verse had me stumped! Their flavor profiles and combinations are truly unique and exciting. Hats off to you, Verse, for a job extremely well done.

We came to Verse in Toluca Lake to celebrate a birthday on Friday for my boy, and from start to finish the entire experience was nothing short of fantastic. The service here is truly on another level, with everyone being attentive without ever feeling intrusive. The staff checked in just the right amount, remembered small details from earlier in the evening, and even surprised our son (who actually picked this place himself, we had no clue this place existed) with a small dessert and candle after overhearing it was his birthday. The food lived up to the hype. The kale sprouts were outstanding, perfectly crisp with a bright citrus flavor that really stood out. The octopus was tender and beautifully balanced by the spicy sauce underneath. The milk buns weren't my favorite, but that's just a matter of personal taste. The duck breast, though, was the best and most rich, flavorful, along with the crispy skin. Everything else our party ordered was also amazing, as we all sampled each others plates just to try a bit of everything. It was all good. This time, I didn't try any of their cocktails, but perhaps next time. They have live music playing in the background, which I thought would be overpowering, but no. It was perfect, and complimented the dinner well. Our server even gave us some facts about the building being a working sound studio(?) I believe. With information on the microphones hanging from the ceiling and some other sound studio related facts that I could not remember. This place does not have the name on the building, it's just a simple black building when you drive by it. They have a valet service or you can find parking on the street. We had no trouble doing that. You can also park on Cahuenga that has ample parking and take a brisk walk to the location. Between the elegant ambiance, thoughtful service, and incredible food, Verse is easily a fantastic experience. It's the kind of place that reminds you how much those little touches matter. I would definitely recommend Verse to those looking to celebrate something or for those looking for a great dining experience.

This place is phenomenal. The vibe is incredible. The 3 piece jazz group was exceptional and even though they had never played together before, they sounded like they had been together for 20 years. The food was great, top notch. The lamb pasta and carrots tasted like nothing I've ever tasted before it was so good. Definitely worth the trip from the OC. Will be going back again and again that's for sure !!!

I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough, this is the first 5 star review I have ever left, as this restaurant is truly incredible. The ambience and live music were absolutely immaculate, and the staff were attentive and incredibly friendly (More on the wonderful staff in a moment. There was not a single dish that was not absolutely delicious. I would like to recommend a few people in particular that made our night incredible: -Daniel and Claire were absolutely amazing. Claire recommended two drinks that were absolutely unique and delicious. -Brandi was the bartender and she is something of a genius, her cocktails are unique and have a beautiful variety of flavors. She was incredibly kinda and told us all about how to make Night On Fire (my personal favorite drink of the night) -Chef Oscar is a true master of his craft, nothing else can really be said. The live music was beautiful and the food delicious. Brandi the bartender served us incredible drinks, and told us all about them. Daniel gave us a tour of the back after our meal, and Claire planned out and chose our entire meal for us. Again I cannot recommend this experience highly enough, not only is the food incredible, but the establishment is stuffed to the brim with legitimately kind, wonderful people. 11/10

This is our new little hidden gem. The food and drinks are 10/10 for me and they have this one drink that’s like a take on a whiskey sour and it’s amazing. I also love finding places where I can dress up a little nicer, like a cute date night in heels kind of night.

Shout out to Ashely and Gabriel for having the best customer service skills. Staff here are amazing. The food they serve are in small portions ( good for when you are dieting) but very good otherwise. Although quite honestly this place is a bit pricey but the live band makes it all worth while. You forget you are super hungry because of the music and the crowd. 😁. I will definitely go back again when visiting the lost angels.

My wife and I had an incredible experience at Verse LA. From the moment we walked in, we were struck by the stylish, intimate atmosphere — perfect for a night out together. The staff was welcoming, attentive without being intrusive, and made us feel right at home. The food was absolutely outstanding — each dish was not only beautifully presented but bursting with flavor. You can tell a lot of thought and passion goes into the menu. The wine selection paired perfectly with our meal, and the cocktails were creative and balanced. On top of everything, the vibe of the place really sets it apart. The live music and acoustics created such a unique ambiance — it felt like dining inside a performance. We left already planning our next visit. Verse LA is a gem in Los Angeles, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience.

Intimate yet spacious spot for live music. The food was truly fantastic; rivaling some Michelin tasting menus. Looking forward to going back (and updating photos).

Updated: My husband surprised me with reservations to see La Verdad, one of the most phenomenal bands you will see live. The food was incredible, we sat at the perfect table in the middle of the restaurant, just 3 steps from the lead singer. The sound is so incredible in this place, I got up and danced until my feet were numb. I loved every second of our time here. A must, must, absolute must. Go on any night. The live performances are A++++++ Very exclusive VIP dinner and live recording listening experience. Had an 845 reservation. Doorman would not let us in for 45 mins saying there wasn't room. Our table was wide open when we walked in. Thankfully we were guests of the owner who came out to get us. Food was divine. Came out slowly during the show. Terrace Martin, Kamasi Washington, Alex Isley, Robert Glasper 10 yards away was contemporary jazz heaven. If you are ever invited, go!!! You never know who you're going to see..

The etxebarri beef chop (a ribeye, is what the server explained) was executed so perfectly, I’ve never had a better steak. It came rare, but it melted in your mouth. Perfect on its own with just the Murray River salt, but it was accompanied by an amazing Bordelaise sauce with bone marrow that I wanted to take home with me…I wanted to spoon that sauce over everything! Ambience is cozy, avoid the two tables that are right next to where all the servers come in and out of the kitchen, especially when sitting facing them - that’s all you see. Hard to turn to the left to view the music. But all the other seats seemed fine.

Wonderful place. Delicious food and wonderful live jazz. Hokkaido milk bun was extremely impressive. As someone who’s in love with all milk bread and hokkaido related items, this one is definitely lived up to its name. Love their duck breast as well. Very tender and delicious. Cocktails are fun as well. Guava sorbet caught me by surprise - very delicious and refreshing! Reminded me of the thai guava dip, very nice! Definitely make a reservation to secure your spot. The place is dimly-lit with fun live jazz that is at a perfect noise level and doesnt interrupt the conversation.

J

Very low key chilled jazz spot with great food and entertainment. It was consistently full without being overcrowded. The Wagyu Tartare and Almond Wood New York were absolutely wonderful. Be aware they do have a 2.5 hour time limit to allow for other guests but weren't pushy about it. There are lots of other spots for me to explore in LA so I don't know when I'll be back but I would return, recommend to friends and would take out of town guests. Great night with friends.

Loved the vibe and food here. They had live and not live music alternating in a dark room with the bar lit up. Our service from Bailey was amazing. We never felt left alone and each dish was explained to us, which as foodies, we definitely appreciated. Kale sprouts and the New York strip were standouts, for sides, definitely try their oyster mushrooms - they cook them very uniquely. And don’t skip dessert! The chocolate & caramel with tapioca flour is phenomenal. Hope to return again.

The atmosphere is awesome here. A sexy but lively jazz supper club. We loved our cocktails, food was great, and service was very good. We were seated right by the quartet and the sound quality and acoustics were next level. After dinner we were even taken on a short tour in the kitchen and a sound booth and were treated to champagne. Love this place!

Went to Verse to celebrate my fiancés birthday and couldn’t have asked for a better night. Our server, Jay was super chill and helpful! He told us about the cool facts about the restaurant and chef. From the moment we walked in, we just felt the good vibes. They had good live music as well! The food and drinks were amazing! 10/10! For drinks we got the espresso martini and the “Pancho” For food, we ordered the milk buns, pork belly risotto, Australian wagyu, side of roasted corn. Left some room for dessert and ordered the cookies and cream! Highly recommend making a reservation. Will definitely be coming back!

What a lovely evening. Every person you encounter is super attentive and friendly, especially our server Alvin. The food is fantastic. Milk buns are a must. The band is great and very sweet, playing happy birthday when my dessert came out. Great acoustics-We were right next to the band and could still hear our conversation. And when the band isn’t on, they play 90s/00s bangers. A really unique and enjoyable place.

One of the most memorable restaurants I’ve visited this year. It’s the perfect place for an anniversary or any special occasion. At first, I couldn’t find the entrance because there was no sign, but once I stepped inside, it felt like entering a completely different world — and that feeling alone was exciting. The live music added to the atmosphere, and since the owner is a sound engineer, you can tell they put a lot of thought into the restaurant’s acoustics. There was so much to see and enjoy that it was a feast for both the eyes and the palate. Every dish, from the appetizers to the main courses, was absolutely delicious and satisfying.

What a great find!!! Went to Verse for a birthday dinner on Friday and it was absolutely lovely. I had the pork belly risotto and my husband had the wagyu fillet and both were delicious. And the reviews do not lie about the hokkaido milk buns! I had seen the positive reviews and was a bit skeptical that bread could be this good, but yummm, they lived up to the hype! They’re so good that you don’t need anything to eat them with but they do come paired with an amazing homemade maple butter. High marks for service! Everyone we interacted with was so helpful and nice and they went out of their way to make sure we had a great dinner. Overall a great experience! Looking forward to going back soon.

Highly recommend coming here. The live performances really made the vibe. Great food and service! We had a reservation so there was no wait but I'm sure those without had to wait. I was able to find street parking for free only a five min walk away. Don't waste your money with valet unless you absolutely can't walk.

Absolutely outstanding experience at Verse LA. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is welcoming, stylish, and thoughtfully curated. The service is top-tier—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly without ever feeling rushed. Everything is executed with care and professionalism, and it really shows. Verse LA delivers on quality, consistency, and overall experience. It’s clear they take pride in what they do, and it sets them apart. Highly recommended—I’ll definitely be coming back again and bringing more friends and family here as well.

Amazing experience and service! Everyone (Antonio, Demita, Diego, Angela, chefs, bartender, host, etc.) was outstanding and an absolute pleasure. The starters, main course, dessert, wine were all superb. With short notice reservations, they still took the time to give us a special surprise tour, wine, and dessert for our anniversary. I can't stop telling people how wonderful our experience at Verse was. From entering the restaurant and stepping into a mood, a vibe, with music you can't help but move to, smells you can't help but want more of, the perfect sound at every point in the room, delectable flavors...everything was just divine. We had the Hokkaido milk buns, crudo, peruvian scallops, and apple salad to start. All fantastic! I loved the salad so much I would have also ordered it for dessert. For our main course, we had the roasted corn (damn good corn), gluten free crab risotto, and pork belly risotto. Wow! For dessert, we had the guava sorbet with berries and mint (plus another dessert and a yummy Riesling with a surprise tour and special table for the two of us to celebrate our special evening!). I couldn't pick a favorite. It was all a delight for the eyes and mouth. The surprise tour was icing on the cake. Learned more about the sound studio that is the restaurant and all the special touches in the kitchen that make many of the dishes so special. But the people are what make the place so special. The attention they put into everything was impressive and how kind and welcoming everyone is even in the back kitchen made quite the impression. Can't wait to go back, even with an hour drive to get there from where we live is so worth it! Thank you, Verse, for a memorable anniversary!

LOVED my first experience front row on a busy friday evening!! With every table seated, live music and many conversations surrounding my table, I was pleased I could peacefully carry on a conversation with my guest. Let's talk food-- WOW! I ordered two entrees because I'd regret not trying both. Espresso & Apple Martini-- to die for. Short ribs-- must order & another to-go! Dessert-- a light guayaba sorbet to round out such a savory meal was VERY well planned by the Chef! 100% returning. Reservations HIGHLY recommended.

Went here on a Saturday night for dinner, and it's an awesome venue. The vibe, aesthetics, service, and food was top notch. They also have live music, which was so complimentary to everything else. We were also advised by our server that it used to be a music production studio, and a lot of the sound equipment remains, so the quality of the sound throughout was impeccable.

This is our go to place for our monthly date night. We almost always get our favorite server Drew. The milk buns are to die for. Minimum 2 orders of it every time (3 if we have more room). The pork belly risotto is AMAZING. The croquettes, the mushroom linguini, the fried yucca, the beans, etc etc etc… honestly, everything on the menu is above and beyond. The manager (I believe his name is Matt) is also kind and delightful. The atmosphere is 10/10. Absolutely love this place.

My husband took me here for my birthday this last Friday and it was so awesome. We both love some good Jazz music and this place delivered. They only play about 10-15 minute sets at a time and then take about a 20 minute break. You might hear 2-3 sets while you are there. The acoustics are really great in there too. We were right by the band(like literally, right there) and I can still have a normal conversation. that’s a plus for sure. The food was stellar as well. We got the Wagyu tartare, the duck breast and the braised lamb and pasta. Oh my god, the pasta and lamb dish was absolutely out of this world. I would highly recommend this place for a date night or a nice outing with friends.

I was initially introduced to Verse by complete happenstance while dining there last Fall, but when my husband asked where we should go to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary, it was an immediate, obvious (and truly the most perfectly appropriate) choice. Even with the limited information I selectively provided my husband with (have to keep some mystery in a marriage,) it took no coercion when inviting him to co-Verse with me. Music being the initial catalyst for our connection, it was almost mandatory that we reinvent our initial industry-induced meet-cute into last night's "meat-cute," (cue 30-day-aged tomahawk to enter this chat....) The food was fab from starter-to-finish, and although surrounded by sound- we didn't feel as if we were being consumed ourselves, auditorily. The carefully-curated venue gave us the freedom to maintain an uninterrupted conversation whilst still being able to appreciate the song-filled atmosphere, clearly. The food, live music and overall hospitality (and thoughtful personalization) made this celebratory dining experience exceptionally memorable. There was no separation when it came to the various components that comprise the hospitality industry. Verse is composed of individuals that willingly choose to provide each of their guests with a truly memorable evening, on the daily, in an incredibly harmonious way. Thank you to all involved in making this nothing other than a "UNI-Verse" in the most literal (and lyrical,) way. Look no further next time you're in need of unique Din-spiration.

TLDR: 5/5 - Heartbreak feels good in a place like this. The food was sensational, the service was in the nines, the ambiance was lux. I simply don't know where to go from here. Ordered: Apps - Milk Buns: 4.2/5 - I feel like these are a crowd pleaser, which is great! Against the rest of the menu they sort of felt out of place to me but I am glad it was different than just regular bread rolls. - Croquettes: 5/5 - These reminded me of abuela's tamales wrapped up in a little ball. The flavor was amazing, so well balanced with heat, saltiness and savory. Really good. - Kale Sprouts: 5/5 - Big kale and brussel girl. So when a place does them right, its hard not to want to share and get your own bowl. Don't leave without ordering this. - Octopus: 4.3/5 - You know I don't know much about Octopus but I will say this was extremely tender. I think it also came with some kind of potato that was amazing?? - Apple Salad: 4/5 - Light, fresh and crispy. A great palette cleanser - Yellowtail Crudo: 5/5 - This is my new gold standard of what Yellowtail crudo should be. It was stupidly fresh, zesty, tart, basking in this sauce that was drinkable but alas, I had to have some decorum. Roasted Potatoes: 3.8/5 - Personally I don't think truffle is ever done right however I do think this was done the best than most I've had in some time. With that said they were just okay. I think they'd be a big hit for the table especially with the cheese - Tuna Toastado Sashimi: 4.7/5 - This was fun! Who would've thought whipped sweet potato would pair with tuna sashimi. Great balance. The fresh-fried tortilla chips took it over the edge Main - Branzino: 4.8/5 - This was served with a peanut mole and sweet potato bruleed. The fish, on its own, lacks flavor, which is where the mole comes in, but it could've benefited from more mole or perhaps just a pinch of seasoning on top. With that said the fish was cooked beautifully. If you don't like skin this isn't for you. To bruelee sweet potato is genius. - Roasted Carrots: 4.5/5 - A proper rabbit carrot which I love. Had a good bite to it too. I personally loved the slight acidity on this. - Roasted Broccolini: 4/5 - Amongst the giants on the table these were perfectly okay. Great for anyone who just needs a vegetable. - Roasted Corn: 5/5 - Woah, final boss for corn lovers. Its a little bit of work to discover but once you taste it? Imagine almost an elote street corn without the fixings but with all the similar flavors? Its a shame I didn't have more. Dessert: - Olive Cake: 4/5 - Small for the price but it was nice. Light on the stomach after some heavier entrees. - Chocolate Cake with Miso Ice Cream: 5/5 - It was the miso ice cream that took (over) the cake for me. We as americans are only just discovering the multitude of what miso can do and this is one of them. Salt and Straw hates to know they didn't do it first.

Went here for an anniversary, it was beyond what we expected. This is coming from college kids’/early 20’s perspective if that helps (I’ll get to later). First, the vibes were amazing going in. With the building being so inconspicuous from the outside, going in felt like a whole different world, and as my girlfriend said, “It’s like I’m in La La Land”. The band was absolutely amazing and the acoustics of the restaurant were top-notch given the history of it and the owner. The food was also very nice. Having a kind of big appetite, altogether (starters and main) really made me full to my surprise, same goes for my girlfriend. Service was amazing, our waiter was so kind and made the whole occasion even more special. After eating we just chilled there too for like an hour watching and hearing the band play. Now, I mentioned being college kids and whatnot because, honestly, it first deterred me when I was researching the place because I thought it’d be so expensive given what they have to offer, but with what me and my girlfriend ordered (2 starters, 2 mains), it actually stayed under my budget for it before tips. It was literally like 75 per person before tips. That was amazing given the experience and everything. It might seem a lot, still, but for occasions like this, it’s beyond worth it. So if you’re just like us and want something really fancy and entertaining but not something that’ll break the bank, this place is the place to go.

Came here for a bday celebration. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I had a bday cake crisis and the kitchen staff was more than helpful in fixing my cake (there is a cake service fee of $1/slice). There’s live music. A reservation is a must because this place is lively. Thank you for all you’ve done. ♥️ Will come back again.

Food was great but service is a little off. Had three different people come up and tell us our server would be with us, but he never showed and someone else took over. He put our order in wrong so one of our entrees came out before we ever even got an appetizer, and the the rest of the courses all came out at once. Luckily, it was all delicious, but having oysters in the middle of the meal was a little weird.

The service was top notch, all of our servers were informative about the food and friendly. The atmosphere is dark line and good speakeasy should be with a live instrumental trio, but you could still hold a conversation with your date without yelling. The food was uneven, the starters (buns and tiger prawns) were incredible, the dessert (cookies and cream) was surprisingly full of flavor and delicious. The wagyu steak was good but not melt in your mouth amazing, which is what I want when I get a steak at a restaurant. The pork belly was the most bland item we had, but my husband still enjoyed eating it. Overall a great place for drinks and small bites.

4.5 Stars! Since I'm more of a simple hearty food eatery person, I was apprehensive when a dear friend suggested we dine here. I was pleasantly surprised. The food is good, the live jazz music is great, and the service is very attentive. If not for snafus with a drink order and our bill payment process, our experience would be 4.8 Stars!

This is a bit of a mixed review. Overall positive. I was meating a group of friends for dinner and arrived early so went to the bar. I had a fantastic French 75. The bar staff was very attentive. The dining staff however was not. Are water glasses were only refilled one time during our entire dinner. And many of us wanted to order additional cocktails or wine, but there was no server. After our food was dropped off no one checked on us. The food however was fantastic. And the accommodated my gluten-free GF requirements. There was also a live band and singer performing which were really lovely. And added to that beautiful throwback supper club vintage feel to the entire experience. It is meant to feel like you're in a private club. There is no sign outside so you have to just recognize the v on the door and the address. Overall I absolutely would go again but wish that the servers on the floor were more attentive.

Verse is a Super Cool Restaurant and Venue !! My Wife and I met my one of my Sisters and her Colleague from Paris. Great vibe as soon as you enter, with a very nice Bar, Jared was Great. Hostesses were very courteous and keep us well posted on table status, seating quite promptly at time of reservation and excellent table, almost dead center and just a 2 person table between us and Band-Stand. Music was flat Phenomenal, like Master Classic/Contemporary Jazz Musicians, Bass, Drums, Lead Guitar and Grand Piano, can't say enough about how good they were and fabulous it sounded. Food was very Flavorful, but some little hiccups. Milkbread and soft butter was excellent, hard to stop eating. Yellowtail Crudo Starter was one of best dishes of evening, beautiful fresh Yellowtail, Crudo and and wonderful sauce with delicious notable citrus flavor. Branzino looked excellent, Lamb Pasta was very tasty and robust, we had 2 Duck with Potato Pave & Chives which was super high quality and tasty, BUT Duck was undercooked on both Plates :(, I still enjoyed but my Wife did not. Sides of Broccolini, Crushed Purple Potatoes and Roasted Carrots were all very fresh and had excellent flavors, BUT my wife (Fabulous Chef/Cook) noted that Broccolini was a little Too Al Dente :(. We enjoyed an Excellent Bottle of Burgundy that my Sister chose based on recommendation by Matias (Owners Son, Wine Director and Sommelier), which was light bodied but packed plenty of earthy and fruit notes with a beautiful silky smooth and long finish, excellent accompaniment to our meals. The Sorbet was fantastic, fresh, flavorful and served with Raspberries & Strawberries. Last hiccup, I wanted a Cafe Mocha or Expresso or even just Coffee, to my disbelief we were told that they had runout of Coffee Beans and had NONE, it was only like 9:45 PM, not sure how that was allowed to happen, but...it did. Last note, table service could have been much better and our primary server could work on his table presence, we had to wait a few times just to get anyone's attention, I asked our server at least 3 times, maybe 4 who the Band was (Name) and he NEVER got it for me, he had to keep telling me he had forgotten to ask or just had not. No matter the Hiccups, this is a very cool place for Dinner and Music, like Super Cool.

I'm letting the feline frolic outta the bag on this one only because I care about you and your fine dining selections in Los Angeles. Given Verse's nondescript, definitely not a recording studio appearance from Lankershim, you're not likely to stumble in or find an available table without a reservation. However, the bar is inviting, open, and a great place to absorb the music from the back of the room. TIP: Book ahead. Make a reservation & bring your appetite! My love for Verse all started when my then-boyfriend, now husband discovered our new favorite anniversary restaurant - now two years in the running. Even better, during our first visit, I was caught by surprise when I recognized Verse's sound engineer from work who was eager to boast about the restaurants perfect acoustic environment. Essentially, Verse is a recording studio with an elegant restaurant...or is it a classy restaurant that happens to be a recording studio? Just ask Grammy-winning master mixer Manny Marroquin who we have to thank for Verse, along with chef Oscar Torres. What I especially love about Verse is that even with 11 subwoofers, 47 speakers, and a full dining room bustling with conversation, the environment blends perfect acoustics, enabling private conversation without having to raise your voice all while enjoying live performances. I should know, I'm hard of hearing and I spend a good portion of my professional time in padded recording studios. Food: Let's begin with starters and libations because the full Verse experience should include a warmup to the main course, a little of all the above like tapas. Trust me on this, Verse's Hokkaido milk buns are not to be taken lightly, nor are they your typical table bread and butter; but they should be enjoyed by all. Why seven buns and not an even number is a cruel, delightfully delicious joke by chef Torres. For the seafood fans, I highly suggest the Mediterranean octopus grilled with squid ink potatoes, King Oyster mushrooms, and the best (mild) Peruvian aji outside of Mario's. Do NOT skip dessert! The cookies and cream is a dream and not at all vanilla as its name implies. The coffee soil was definitely a memorable favorite for me. Drink: I hope you come to imbibe on Verse's liquid diet! Pick your poison, pick a bottle of vino. I can still recall the smokin' old fashioned from my first visit. I won't ruin the experience - if you're a whiskey fan, try it! Recently I also enjoyed Verse's Negroni and gin martini. Thank you bartenders. Cheers! I wasn't disappointed, even when asked for clarification, "Just a regular Negroni?" YES, please! Service: The thing about service is, it can vary. It shouldn't, but it can depending on oh so many factors. One of them factors is being too busy. And Los Angeles does a great job of being too busy. We’re a laid back city, but we are always very busy, and always in a hurry on to the next thing. That said, Verse may not hold your hand throughout the night, so just sit back and enjoy the music without worrying about being in a hurry to get on to the next thing. Ambiance: I appreciate Verse’s subtleties both outside and in, maintaining its integrity as a slick, modern recording space in fine dining. Thoughtful lighting allows each table to enjoy a personal intimate experience, ideal for special occasions. In short, Verse cute. With respect to the musicians, I would love longer sets with more live music and less playlist. Parking isn’t ideal, but not impossible either. Valet would be great. Unfortunately a few dishes did arrive served on “rustic plates” with chips “bitten” out of them which is okay in my house, but unacceptable in fine dining. In summary Verse is a fine dining hidden gem with silky smooth speakeasy vibes, a cocktail and wine list to match, live music, and a mouthwatering menu. I look forward to our next anniversary celebration dinner, or excuse to spoil the spouse! Thank you Verse LA, thank you chef Torres!

The food was absolutely amazing! However, the drinks just didn't do it for me. We tried 3-4 different ones off the menu and they all seemed to be missing something. We even ordered a dirty martini, which should be simple, but sent it back for lacking in flavor. All the drinks just seemed to be missing that oomph factor. Overall the vibe was cool and a bit loud but that’s not going to stop me from going back.

Overall, the experience was quite magical. The atmosphere is moody, exclusive, and all without trying too hard. The raspberry beret was a perfect cocktail, fruity, strong, not overly sweet. The apple salad was perfectly balanced and the texture of the apple slivers was dreamy. I had the lobster tagliatelle and it was scrumptious but I did find myself wanting more lobster. My date’s New York steak was a bit tough and the beans were over-seasoned and there could’ve been twice as many plantains on that dish, but I’d still say the plate was an 8/10. I loved the oyster mushrooms! My date thought they tasted like seasoned rubber bands so I guess it’s all a matter of preference. The olive oil cake was a slam dunk. Light, yet delectable. Service was exemplary. I’d go back.

I give them 3-4 stars.. drinks and food delicious.. but It’s overpriced for that small plate.. even my mom and I ordered branzino.. and practically one fish was cut in half. Half for her and half for me.. and 2 little slice of sweet potato.. that was all my dinner. That’s fraud!

Really wanted to love this place, such a cool concept. Lets start w the good: very cool concept, sexy, swanky vibe, friendly service (albeit could be a but more aware of food prep and details, faked their way through some questions). Now the not so good: although the food sounded exciting on paper it just didnt translate to the plate. Aged yellowtail (which didnt make sense and it didnt taste or seem aged..not sure you want aged crudo anyway) was good but nothing new. Pork belly risotto lacked pop and flavor, sea bream fish was flat and boring. Sorry just sharing my personal opinion. Pricing seemed slightly above average but charging 60 bucks for a dozen fresh oysters is a little much.

The place had live music which was the main reason we chose the restaurant. That part was nice. We made a reservation for 4 a week or so in advance, table was not great but that’s ok. All throughout the dinner we felt rushed with constant interruptions by the waiter asking us if we want anything else. We were there for about 2.5-3 hrs in total and had been ordering pretty much the whole menu, 3- 4 drinks/cocktails each ( mind you these are 25-30$ cocktails each!! ) 3, 4 appetizers for the table, 4 entrees , ranging in price from 40$ to $60 each, then another round of cocktails at the end for a grand total of 6-700$ for 4!! After all of this at about 9 or so after we had paid and tipped ( wish i could take that back now! ) the manger comes up and pretty much asks us to leave because we were there for too long and they have a 2.5 hr limit per dinner policy. We weren’t loud, we ordered over 600$ worth of food for 4 and still it’s not enough?! At 9 pm with free tables popping up, what hopes do you have to make more of that table?! How about you respect the amount you already got on it and be happy with that instead of ensuring we will never go back and always speak negatively about the place! Bad management and outrageous prices for this type of service. I would avoid it all costs unless you like being harassed every 15 minutes while enjoying the company of your friends. Make sure you bring a swiss stopwatch and clock your bites ! You may overstay your welcome….. Edit/Reply: as stated in the review…they keep the ticking timer on you…9:22…i would ask was that the exact time we stepped out or when the check was paid? The whole point was that we kept ordering all throughout that time and were not just burning time for this “small business” . Would have been helpful to also let us know that you will kick us out before ordering that last round of 28$ cocktails…anyhow, just so you know, the place had several empty tables by that point and we also had one of the worst tables, but again, it’s how you treat your well paying customers that drives in the long term…good luck!

Great food, excellent service and staff, a really nicely designed space, with great acoustics and lighting. Unfortunately, we had some guy at the adjacent table turn on and leave on a professional-grade bright light array connected to his phone for food photos (presumably for social media 🙄). We eventually had to ask the waiter to address the situation, but the guy remained selfishly oblivous to the distration for nearly 15 minutes. For the amount of money we spent, I doubt we'd return if this type of behavior is accepted.

I would give Verse a very high review if it weren’t for one thing that mattered most: common sense and appreciation of customers, which is paramount. We were two couples, with a 6 pm reservation. Had a great time, loved the live music sets, food was decent (not the best), and overall had a good time. After dinner, we ordered another set of drinks. All in all our bill was close to $700. Outside of the server being on our case for the next thing every 5 min, at the end of the night, it was 9 pm and we were ready to go, and the manager comes to tell us sorry but you have to leave, it’s beyond the 2.5 hr reservation limit. We could not believe it! We ordered $20 cocktails, $60 entrees, and stayed for 3 hrs for a $700 bill and someone asks us to leave when we just asked for the check!? In what world do we live where people spend $700 for a dinner and get asked to leave? Where is this pretentiousness coming from? Both my husband and I and our couple friends are parents and have very few date night opportunities. To go and spend almost $1000 for a night between dinner and babysitters and be kicked out of a restaurant seems insane! And for this reason I will never step foot here again! I will rather go to Italy and Spain and spend under $500 a night for a night long amazing culinary and wine experience than what we got here, than get this behavior for a mediocre experience.

Place is amazing looking high class and very nice. However, we sat at the bar and at first everything was going well appz cam out quickly good drinks and wine. Then main course took over an hour to get then the food the 75 dollar waguya filet and duck came out cold but the sides were piping hot. Manager said it was because they let it rest and it was more like they for got them in the expediting window for 20 mins or longer. My wife was so hungry she ate the cold duck and I sent mine back. After that the service went wat down hill and became an ultra poor experience. For the money there are much better places to go that are not as stuck up as this place.

When we arrived at the establishment there was a smell of salmon jarkey They did not say anything about the price, after they bring $459 only for meat🙈🙈 The meat was very fatty and after freezing. After our displeasure , they made a discount from the total bill, they tried to do something, but still you need to warn in advance😘

Last Saturday me and my friends went to this restaurant. In the beginning there was some kind of fish smell in the restaurant. There was nice interior and cool live music , but the whole evening was spoiled by our waitress. We ordered Wagyu steak with MP in menu. When she brought us the raw steak and showed us a piece she didn’t tell us how much it weigh, cost and grade . At the end of the dinner she gave us the check with $450 for that piece of steak , which is nobody expected . We were really disappointed how unprofessional she was by not telling us how much its going to be . The manager gave us 15% of whole bill but it’s still not enough to come back and recommend this place. Horrible service they trying make money despite what customers gonna think about them !

We were in this restaurant for the first time. At the very beginning, we did not like the persistent smell of fish. Then we got used to it :) The menu was rather poor. We didn't know what to choose. Stopped for Wagyu steak. The waiter brought us to show a piece of this meat. It should be noted that the place was very dark, we could hardly read the menu. The waiter said they only had one large piece and we had no choice. There were four of us. We conferred and decided that we would eat it together. The waiter did not tell us anything about the quality of the meat, about its weight, about its price. Nothing! There were four of us and none of us heard any information about this meat. On the meat itself, we also did not see the price and the waiter did not draw our attention to the price. We had no idea that this meat was something special. In other restaurants we ate this meat for $60 per serving. We expected the price to be no higher than $200. We were shocked when the bill was brought to us and we saw the price of $459. It should also be noted that we did not like the meat, and even more insulting that it is also so expensive. We think this restaurant is a scam. The waiter obviously wanted to sell us the most expensive piece and did not specifically indicate the price. After all this, the manager acted even more dishonestly - he blamed us for everything. We noted that we are bloggers and gourmets. The manager said that we MUST understand meat in this case. No, we don't HAVE to. The waiter had to inform us about this meat and tell us about its quality, so that we at least understood what we were eating. It's not our job, it's hers. Moreover, these are just the words of the manager that the meat was somehow special, that there was an impressive weight. There is no way we can verify this! No way! They could write $1000 and we have to pay?! The fact that the manager is trying to make us guilty in this situation is extremely dishonorable. This is a common scam. In addition, the rest of the food did not leave a positive impression, but at least it did not cost $459. The music wasn't energetic, it just got in the way. The hall is the size of a football field, not cozy. The area (North Hollywood) is not safe. I don't recommend this place to anyone.

The place is pretty cool, atmosphere was nice with a live band playing in the background. The drinks were amazing and. food was ok but I would never go back to this place! We spent $700 and we were there for close to 2.5hrs, the waitress was nice bit o. our case every 5 minutes and we felt rushed and at the end when we were ready to ask for the check the supervisor came and said that it's time for us to leave, this after have a $700 bill. How much more do you need to pend nowadays at a normal restaurant in order to have a good time!
