Love this place but they keep dumping their decaf out before they even close. Most recently, I walked in at 3:30 and they told me they dumped the decaf already. WTH? STOP!
One of the best coffees I’ve tried in a while! I ordered a cappuccino and my coffee tasted very premium. Had a very rich flavor - definitely didn’t taste cheap! This place was clean, and comforting. Tables were cozy to sit at, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming. Would come back again!
We were in town overnight while traveling through. We decided to come to Utica Coffee Roasting Company for a quick breakfast and coffee. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. It was one of the best experiences I've had in the coffee shop. The food was delicious and the coffee was wonderful. If you're ever in Utica, make sure you come here for your coffee and breakfast.
Hands down the best coffee around. Got a gift basket from my mom because I live in TN and I have not gotten a different brand coffee yet. Every time I go to Utica I make sure to stop and and get a fresh cup. They should open up shops around the country because they will take out Dunkin and Starbucks no question. They also have amazing customer service. Love this company!!! Ryan the manager is awesome!! Always makes my coffee taste great!!
My husband and I have ordered from Utica for over the past year, since we where in the area this weekend we swung in to have some fresh drinks and grab some coffee for home. I was unaware that they didn't carry the 5lb bags in store, but when asked the lovely ladies there where on it! The team lead there went in back and brought me out what they could spare for their blueberry coffee then ground it fresh for me before leaving. Was it 5 lbs, no. Was it 3 lbs of our favorite coffee that I got to drink the next morning, yes! Everyone at the shop was so happy and willing to go over different drinks, definitely recommend the twilight lotus iced tea! Great coffee, great employees, and great service. We will never stop supporting this brand!
Utica Coffee is amazing, and has a great assortment of drinks.

Great atmosphere and delicious coffee too. It was our first time there and both young ladies were patient, helpful and friendly. Also, since we’re not local, we just received our first coffee shipment. Very fast service! I ordered my coffee on Wednesday night and by noon on Saturday it was on my front porch . I‘ll be ordering again soon!
Wow!! My first visit from Rochester area and I was overwhelmed at first (I never know what to order) the staff was super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. All of our drinks were super tasty. Bought some grounds for home to enjoy some of the tasty flavors. We will for sure stop again.
Very busy but their coffee was good. I also got a cinnamon roll that was also good after I reheated it.
We love utics roasters, great coffee
Coffee never disappoints, great group of baristas
Amazing Place!! Love the Utica Culture throughout the building, staff & coffee!! the coffee was so good, that we got a case of K-cups for home and now I order on their amazon page when I am not passing thru town!!
My favorite coffee shop in the area!! Love the baked goods and trinkets. A must stop every time.
Friend took me here when I was in town for the day. This place is kind of tucked away, but they make some really good coffee. Both of my friends placed orders that were long and full of words I didn't understand. They loved it that time and all of the other times they've been there. I had the cold brew and it was fantastic.
The friendliness, service and deliciousness makes this place a six star out of five! Super highly recommended!
By far the best coffee shop in the area! I always go out of my way to stop here even if not for the coffee I'll always grab one of their many baked goods or delicious drinks that aren't caffeinated. Speaking of I've never had a better hot chocolate anywhere else truly to die for! If you're thinking about stopping here stop thinking and just go.
I came back twice. I always hear there's nothing in Utica. Well, that is bullswax. There is great hockey and Utica Coffee Roasting Company. The coffee was great; they have great smoothies, too. I didn't have food but it looked good and fresh. Oh and great being there too. Coffee cups, tee shirts ..
The mural outside of the building is amazing! It's easy to find with the neon green. They have merchandise. Hoodies, hats , mugs and other things. The 10 oz. bags of coffee costs more than they cost at Hannaford, but I needed a lot so I bought it there. If I were a coffee drinker, I'd Def stop in frequently. Cute place .
I ordered a pistachio latte it was delicious. Great flavor. The atmosphere was lovely and they had some great other products. If I lived here this would be a regular spot for me. The murals are worth a stop
This is such an amazing little coffee shop! My fiance and temporarily lived in Utica and we went to this coffee shop all the time. The staff is so friendly... I loved their pistachio latte and wanted to buy the powder they use, but because of my move I didn't have room to bring it on the plane. They let me take a photo of the bag to purchase when I got here, AND filled a little cup with the powder so I could take a small amount with me. 10/10
We were driving through so found this place on Google what a cute find coffee was great so many options. All baked goods looked fresh. Options for all coffees to be bought Staff were friendly and I told them what coffee I didn't like and they gave me a great one. Pumpkin scone was yum Defo recommend
We had delicious hot chocolate after buying coffee to take home!
Great coffee the wait is just always going to be an hr and a day.
Went in on a recommendation from a friend and glad we went! Staff was very accommodating for our large order. My latte was delicious and bought grounds to bring home.
The perfect coffeehouse. Three minutes off I-90 makes it a guaranteed stop while driving across NY.
Excellent cafe, and I suspect the trendiest and busiest place in Utica. I ordered an oat milk iced latte and was not disappointed. They also bag whole beans for you and have a lot of ground coffee and merchandise.
Attentive and friendly staff with solid espresso This coffee house offers a plethora of coffee drinks and espresso on a relatively quiet street right off of the main highway. The outside of the building is bright and colorful and they offer outdoor seating. The inside of the shop had a cool ambiance provided by the metal tall tables, comfortable seats, and well lit (but dim) lights. As your walk past the tables and chairs you are greeted by a wall of take home coffee on the right and the bar to your left. The staff was friendly and quick (only ordered an espresso which they only do doubles). The checkout was a breeze and there was ample seating at the time we went (early lunch). If you happen to be swinging by on your way through Utica, give it a shot. It's worth the few minutes off the highway.
Loved this cute little coffee shop. It has decent number of seatings on the outside as well. Their quote “Wake the hell up” made my day😂. Had my mandatory americano, bagel sandwich and a banana chocolate chip loaf. Everything was good. Will definitely suggest to visit if you are in Utica.
This is the best coffee in Utica. When they were at the NY State Fair, I got an iced coffee everyday. I took drink orders for several of my friends at the chair massage booth every day I was at the fair, and the last day they have me a free XL T-Shirt and I have it till this day.
Great food, amazing coffee! Local spots are always the best stops!
Fantastic coffee. Very cool "vibe" in this coffee house. Staff is engaging, friendly and they know their coffee. I have been here 5+ times, never disappointed. I work remotely (live in California). I spent 8 hours here last week working, drinking coffee, eating breakfast, lunch and finished off with amazing ice tea around 4:00. Definitely a must!
INCREDIBLE!! Run by Local people who Love and Respect both coffee and the culture around it. This shoppe is complete, whether you want a perfectly brewed cup, a barrista creation, whole bean or ground this shop won't disappoint!! Wonderful scones, muffins and baked goods complete the experience. WOW!
Always warm, welcoming and oh so helpful when choosing the most important beverage of the day!
I always make a pit stop here to pick up a bag (or three) of cannoli coffee when I come home to upstate NY... It's just so good! Then I tell all my friends in my adopted city (Philly) about what they're missing out on. Utica Coffee has an amazing variety of roasts, but I tend to always stick with cannoli when I buy beans.
I’ve been visiting Utica Coffee regularly for a while now, and it never disappoints. Both the Utica & Clinton locations have a very inviting atmosphere, with good parking & great drinks. Sometimes there are gluten free cookies, but not gluten free bagels (that I've seen) which is a bummer because everyone seems to love their food as well. The seasonal menus are ALWAYS so fun and unique. 10/10!
We stopped at Utica Coffee to stock up on our favorite blends. We are from out of town, but find Utica Coffee to be our favorite, so we made a special trip. The shop is well decorated, and the service is fast and friendly. We bought scones for breakfast, and seasonal lattes to go. Totally worth a stop.
My favorite coffee shop in central NY! I usually get iced lattes of various sorts, the pistachio is a favorite, and they are so wonderful. The iced coffees are huge and the place is beautiful and often plays good music. Its a really good place to hang out around, there are tables outside and cool street art. Im really happy this coffee shop is in our community.
The one downfall of Utica coffee is a severe lack of seating. There is some, but have a backup plan to take your stuff to go. Drinks and food are great!
Awesome coffee and immaculate atmosphere! The house/underground music just works somehow? We went twice during our visit, understandable why they have people lined up out the door! ☕
I LOVE this place! The drinks are consistently great! The atmosphere is pleasant, though a bit on the loud side. My only negative is its often very busy which can lead to you standing outside in the weather just waiting to get in. If you during busy times be prepared to stand outside the door or stand uncomfortably close to a stranger.
I loved this little gem of a coffee shop and hang out. I also met a lot of very nice people and employees. Each time I visit Utica I will for sure be stopping there to spend a few hours relaxing here.
Everyone in Utica knows that this place is awesome, but I wanted to highlight an additional way in which they go above and beyond. We wanted to show off the best of Utica to our wedding guests so we worked with the Utica coffee team on custom bags for favors! They came out so good, and it was very easy to work with their team to design a bag! And, of course, our guests raved about how delicious the cannoli and half-moon flavors were after the wedding.
We travel regularly from Ohio to MA and stay in Utica overnight, in part so we can have Utica coffee the next morning. We love their mugs (Wake the Hell Up) and their scones. I miss being able to get oatmeal. Forget the muffins; they are not muffins but huge blobs of oversweet cake. The staff is very organized and efficient and kind. The new mural is nice; the one in the back is a hoot. Love you guys.
Great coffee and I love the food options. My husband was able to get a bagel sandwich and I could get a scone. My latte was well made and really good, he got the blueberry coffee and loved it. Atmostphere wise, the vibe is laid back and chill but it can get loud as it is a smaller space. He was still able to log in and do the work he needed to get done.
You guys. I just met my new BFF Cori. She and her husband bought a farm during Covid, but she's a people-person & needed to get back to work, and her former boss brought her back on at Utica Coffee Roasting. That's one of the things I learned on our first friend date. By "friend date," I mean she is the amazing barista who served me this morning and chatted with me as she made my drink. I ordered my usual - an iced breve latte. This time I asked for some honey in it, though. Cor (we are BFFs now, so I can call her that) asked if I had ever tried the lavender with the honey. Hold. The Front Door. LAVENDER? She added some of that floral deliciousness to my honey and Shazam!! It's so good! I also ordered up a pound of beans to go, but then C (we truly are besties, so she doesn't mind that I call her that) told me I could save a buck if I went with two pounds. I'm pretty sure that's a deal anyone can get even if they are not best buds with the best barista in Utica. I've said before that I love this place & always leave feeling like I've just made a friend. That's still the case. So WAKE THE HELL UP & go to Utica Coffee. Note: It might be Kori or Korrie or Corey or Cory. I will need to get that straight before I send her birthday card.
Top-notch coffee with local flavor! Utica Coffee is the real deal — rich, bold brews roasted in-house and served by friendly baristas who know their stuff. The vibe is fun and energetic, with a cool industrial feel and their signature “Wake the Hell Up” motto front and center. Great spot for a morning boost or a relaxed afternoon. Try the Adirondack Blend or any seasonal special — always hits the mark. A must-visit in downtown Utica!
Luv, luv, luv everything about Utica Coffee Roasting Company located in Historic Bagg's Square West. Excellent coffee and service. You have to try the Wake The Hell Up blend. So good. They also have the best bagel breakfast sandwich. Equally important is the experience. It was truly a very welcoming environment.
When you think of a great coffee shop Utica is one that comes to mind. Zero complaints, everything was on point and they also have 32 oz sizes. Wanted to go here for a very long time and I'm extremely happy that I finally did. Prices are very reasonable and there is close parking. Definitely one of my top 5 favorite coffee shops not just in the state but in the country.
Great place down in Baggs square with an awesome smell, great selection and friendly staff. I stop in occasionally for a coffee and a scone. The line is always pretty full, but it goes quick with multiple registers. Amazingly it’s not the cheapest price for their coffee (ground by the lb), for that I head over to chanatry’s, but I strongly recommend you stop in.
What a great bunch of people who have taken a rundown and almost abandoned locomotive shop and turned it into something spectacular! Everyone so happy to work there, so engaged, and passionate about their coffee craft. Did I mention the coffee is delicious? They offer mail order and your can get it through Amazon! They bagged a new customer today.
Great coffee, atmosphere and super staff. They serve many more drink choices than coffee, with some plant-based options. Would like the smoothie options to include frozen kale and/or banana add-ons. Can imagine this spot taking over neighboring space for more seating which they would definitely fill.
The coffee will wake you up! The bagel sausage egg and cheese is good, but a bit greasy for my taste... The muffins looked really good I should have tried some.
Scones and latte very good...even the decaf tastes good. Prices a little better than other nearby coffee shops. Quick service, music kind of fun, too. Comfy seating and books to browse :-) 2022 update requested by Google: Still very good! The people who work here are great :) I recommend extra shot for larger drinks.
This place has some of the best coffee I have ever had. It was real good I had it 3 times in my visit to Utica. I also had a breakfast sandwich which was decent. If that was better this place is a 5 star joint.
A great stop on the way. A wonderful discovery for us wonderful atmosphere and good coffee and scones. The mix of many fruits drink my daughter had was super tasty. The matcha latte my wife had needed to be a bit hotter (she did ask for 'hot') and less sweet. My flat white coffee was super. Hope to be back some time soon.
This place is a MUST see if you ever pass by the city of Utica. It's probably the best coffee shop in the city. It has really cool urban vibes that are completed by the industrial style of the place. The coffee itself is of wonderful quality, taste, price and strength. This being personally important since I don't like coffee that hides what it is like, what they have at Starbucks. The only real issue is that being so popular, the place is usually really busy and noisy, which doesn't make it a five-star for atmosphere. I'd personally recommend you order takeout. However, the awesome coffee and great service definitely make up for this, I encourage yall to give it a try!!! ☕️☕️☕️
I have never had better coffee than at Utica Coffee. I consider myself a coffee connoisseur. I love bold, rich coffee. I have tasted at least 8 of Utica Coffee's flavors if not more & purchased 2 more on my way back to NYC yesterday! If you're looking for flavorful, robust aromatic coffee? try Utica coffee. You can find them online too! Their beans are the best & they have a very large selection! Utica coffee is really the best way to start every day!
Best cafe in the area if you are Utica coffee lover the place smells amazing even though I like to set out side during summer and enjoy the fresh air with my coffee
Coffee was delicious. I've ordered online multiple times and often times it's my own incompetence that leads me to internet errors, but not always. Customer support has been elite.
Small, but nice selection of coffee and food. Sandwiches were great. Coffee was okay, but seemed on the bitter side (more of a Starbucks almost-burnt taste, which is not my thing, but if you like Starbucks you might like it more than me). The lattes were very good. They had lots of interesting merch. I would go back if I'm in the area.
This coffee shop has a fantastic atmosphere with an amazing aroma and welcoming feel. I visited on a busy Sunday morning, and the line was quite long, keeping the staff moving efficiently. I really enjoyed my coffee—though most options were light roast, and I personally prefer a darker one. Just something to note for fellow coffee lovers! Still, the coffee was delicious and well worth the visit.
Giving it 4 stars because they actually established a decent business with a decent product in Utica. Back in my day all Utica created in city limits was Saranac. Being a coffee lover and because I was meeting up with Rasta, I just had to visit their downtown Utica location. According to the guy at Turning Stone who was preparing my latte, the coffee brand is very popular. Sells on Amazon too. Verdict. It is good. The shop has a historical vibe that I enjoyed. Would definately stop by again if ever in the area.
Don't get me wrong: this place is good. Their menu is too broad and it is overwhelming for a newbie at the store. I waited 20 minutes to get to the front of the line and still felt pressure when asked to order bc I didn't know what I wanted. Specialty coffees, paying $5 or $6 for a cup of coffee is worth it. It's a gift to yourself. I fear that the menu may be a bit on the heavy side, offering too many items. I would recommend this store/ coffee place.
Friendly and fast service. Free parking out front. That said, this is not a destination for great coffee. If you like “peanut butter triple whipped oat milk lattes” you will probably love this place. I didn’t see any single-origin beans on the menu or any naturally-processed roasts either. I did, however, see a lot of oddly flavored coffee beans.
While I’ve tried some of their beans and blends I wasn’t super impressed with my visit. Their coffee is good, but as I was visiting on a very hot summer afternoon I wanted something that I might find at a national brand coffee house that rhymes with Far-Ducks ( I think you know who I mean). What I had was ok, but nothing more. The staff was friendly and helpful. The vibe and decor feels busy, almost distracting. I will buy their coffee from time to time but for today and the desire for a Frappuccino-like drink, it was a little less than hoped for.
A good spot to stand in line and then go once you have your order cause theres not enough seating.
At Clinton shop they repeatedly advised against getting their dark roast brewed coffee (2 days in a row that I was there) because it was “too strong.” And from their comments they seemed to think dark roast is stronger than medium or light when the opposite is true. Nice setting though and friendly.
The normal coffee was really great, but I got an iced latte and it tasted really bad and weird. It tasted like they used almond milk even though I said regular milk. They were very nice and made it for me again, but the same problem. An overly nutty, almond-y taste that was very unpleasant. Did the milk go bad or something? I had to throw it out, and it felt like a waste of money. I got a different latte at a place a block away and it was perfect. I still can't understand what happened. My wife tried my latte too and agreed with me and said it tasted really strange.
Ordered a latte was good, ordered a breakfast sandwich had absolutely no taste/flavors to it. Tasteless
Drinks are never made correctly, anyone’s guess if you are going to actually get what you ordered.
New Customer - Came in to try their new Dubai Chocolate advertised. I asked for an Iced Chai with it - they looked irritated but made it. They seemed to be annoyed with the influx for a drink they advertised and I guess I was the first to ask for it to be made as a Chai. I wasn’t sure what was so complex about it; their Chai is premade in a bottle and I paid for the up charge. Anyways - even though the service lacked the drink was amazing; so I came back the following day for it again and this time they refused to make it as a Chai - stated this drink was a latte only and while I was confused, having just ordered the day before - I’m easygoing so I compromised and accepted a decaf coffee & watched them (including the same girl that made the drink the day before with an attitude ) as they whispered with faces behind the counter, like I was a criminal for asking for this Chai lol. Im sure they have enough business to spare to care - but I tried to support a local business and the faces and snooty weird vibes - two times in a row; was enough for me not to be returning. I can get the same service for less else where. PS - The Dubai Chocolate Chai version was bomb hopefully another business starts offering it so I can throw my money at them lol.
My wife likes their coffee but god I hate going here. It smells, I can't tell if it's a perfume they spray or what. Some days it's so bad I can not even breath. I got a breakfast sandwich this morning and the smell is in the food. Made my stomach sick and I just ended up throwing the sandwich out. If you are one of those people to get a headache from strong smells I would avoid this place.
went into Utica Coffee expecting a pleasant experience, but unfortunately, I was incredibly disappointed. I ordered an iced latte—nothing too complicated—but the espresso was so bitter it was nearly undrinkable. I actually saw the barista put a stale shot of espresso in my drink, which was just a real letdown. To make things worse, the customer service was terrible. I overheard employees speaking poorly about each other, which made the whole vibe feel negative and unprofessional. I walked in feeling great, but by the time I left, I was upset and rushed out. What really stuck with me though was how they treated the homeless people. I overheard a conversation joking about throwing trash on them, which I found incredibly disrespectful and disgusting. Normally, I don't leave reviews, but this experience was so bad I felt compelled to. It's honestly embarrassing to have a place like this in Utica—especially when we’re trying to shake off the bad reputation the city sometimes gets. Safe to say I won’t be returning.
