This is one of my favorite places to visit. I've been going here since 1990's which speaks to my love for the food options. Normally a creature of habit and highly recommend trying the Carbonara pasta with chicken: you'll thank me later! I've also tried their Mexican salad, and for someone who is particular about salads, was impressed.
This is one of the best selections of allergen friendly food in LA. Most things on the menu can be made gluten free or vegan. One of the few places where I could find pancakes that are gluten, dairy and egg free. Food was amazing, service was even better. Our server Evan deserves a special shoutout, he’s so kind, personable and knew the menu well-gave great recommendations. The chicken club and the pumpkin pancakes were a highlight. Def recommend and will be back when I’m back in the area. Also their ketchup was organic but most importantly, did not have high fructose corn syrup(it’s the little things).
I had the Cuban sandwich for a breakfast/brunch, and it really hit the spot. It’s a darn impressive sandwich, and looks hefty, but really every ingredient here complements each other, the tartness of the onions, the freshness of the tomatoes, the sweetness of the sauce, the soft texture of the plantains, and the grilled chicken too. Despite its intimidating size, it was not too heavy. Great start to the day. (Note: I got mixed veg instead of fries)
Whenever we're in the area, we always enjoy a delicious meal here. The service is always wonderful. Our server was friendly, efficient and obviously takes pride in her work. The food is delicious, with generous portions at a reasonable price.
Hugo’s has been one of those restaurants that I keep returning to year after year because it always delivers exactly what I expect. That kind of consistency is rare in Los Angeles dining, where places come and go quickly, but Hugo’s has built a reputation as a true staple. The menu is centered around healthy food, and they take that seriously without ever sacrificing flavor. You will find dishes that cater to just about every preference, whether you are vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, or simply looking for balanced and fresh meals. Favorites include the sesame ginger salad, the blackened salmon tacos, and their wide range of pasta options, many of which can be made with gluten free or kelp noodles. They even have comfort-style dishes reimagined in a lighter way, which makes the menu feel both familiar and exciting. The service is consistently friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed without trying too hard. It is the kind of place where you can come for a casual lunch, a healthy solo dinner, or even a gathering with friends who all want different things. Everyone can find something here. Hugo’s has been around for decades because it fills that perfect niche of reliable, delicious, and wholesome food. If you want to eat out and still feel good about your choices, this is the spot. It is definitely worth going to, and I always leave satisfied.
We ate here 4 times (!) during our 4 night stay in West Hollywood. My wife is GF so after researching options prior to arriving, Hugo's was highly recommend and I am pleased to say it absolutely lived up to expectations. It was a real treat for my wife to feel "normal" dining out with pretty much every item available GF or modified to be GF. Food quality, atmosphere and service (not to single anyone out, but we had Evan on one evening who was fantastic) were all top class at an exceptionally fair price considering the location. We're getting withdrawal symptoms having now returned home and are dreaming of the carbonara and peach crumble in particular. Is there any chance you can please open a restaurant in Ireland? 😅
I’ve only visited once and won’t be back for a while since I live on the East Coast, but when in LA I’ll definitely make a return visit. My partner and I went for brunch on a Monday, which was definitely not crowded. The space was comfortable and attractive. I had the Breakfast Salad. It’s described on the online menu so you decide if it’s to your taste; I found it amazing. My partner had grain free pancakes, which he greatly enjoyed. The prices were pretty standard for LA upscale casual. The service was friendly and attentive.
Had a dinner with one of my bosses. We got to chatting, lost track of time and the staff were really nice and let us finish at our own pace as they closed. We really appreciated not being rushed. That was awesome! The prices are good and the atmosphere is really cool - they have a vintage aesthetic. As for the food, it was tasty and the portion sizes were just right. Their menu has something for everyone.
As a vegan, this place is fantastic! Vegan french toast, pancakes, burgers, mayo, ranch, shepherd's pie, and more. They didn't just slap together the vegan menu - you really have some selection. All the food was fresh and delicious. I really enjoyed the black chai latte which was a bit like a London Fog.
Hugo’s brings back good memories. I love their pumpkin pancakes but you have to wait for them to come back into season. Hugo’s is a cool little restaurant with a nice vibe and interesting art on the walls just off of the heart of WeHo. They have an outside eating area that isn’t really where good people watching happens but it’s still a cool option. Tonight I didn’t care for the music. There’s actually a bar in the restaurant. We had an appetizer this night. It was battered cauliflower with ranch sauce. Very tasty and they are bite sized. I ordered Carbonara. It’s a really thick spaghetti like noodle that they made perfectly Al Dente. The dish is creamy and hearty with little pieces of prosciutto and bacon in it. The cheese they give you for it is delicious and the fish is nice and tangy perfection! Their Orange Chicken is really good too. It’s not Asian style. It’s filleted, lightly breaded and comes with vegetables and your choice of brown or white rice. Service is often kind of off though it’s often friendly. The servers are usually quite easy on the eyes. There’s free parking in the rear. Meter parking is also available.
I love Hugos! I’ve come here with friends several times while in town and it is always good. Staff are always lovely and helpful. The food!! So many vegan/gluten free options are standard, you dont have to make many substitutions. Drinks—I’ve had the turmeric ‘latte’ and a couple juices and they are always uplifting and tasty. Im grateful for a spot that has such a considerate menu, great staff, and hosts gay events too 💚💚💚
Green eggs and (no) bacon was amazing! Crisp potato pancakes, tasty sautéed spinach and mushrooms, JustEgg moist, and vegan hollandaise that was the perfect complement. My son had the tofu scramble and it was good - he said it was comparable to others he’s had. The Cinnamon French toast had good flavor and the real maple syrup was perfect (we only got the side order to try). The atmosphere was pleasant, well maintained, and clean. The server was so nice and attentive!
Stopped in for our first time this past weekend and we all had a great breakfast. Hugo’s is located in the far west side of West Hollywood and is well known as a great breakfast spot that serves all the classics and can make any substitutions that you may want. It’s very lively and energetic inside, mainly due the locals/crowd, but in a good way. Service is fast, the food comes out quickly, and they have a huge, free parking lot directly behind the restaurant, which is rare and great to find in LA. They have a ton of seating options inside and out but due to the rain we chose to eat inside for our first visit. We ordered the Cali Eggs Benedict and the Classic Breakfast and both really enjoyed our meal. I chose the Cali Benedict but subbed Turkey sausage instead of their vegetarian bacon and it was a great call. Overall pricing is very fair and the wait time was nonexistent; we were able to be seated as soon as we arrived for a 10:30 breakfast/brunch. I would definitely recommend and plan to be back next time I’m searching for breakfast in WeHo.
The place was clean. The staff were welcoming. The server did a good job but missed a few things. Would liked to have had follow up visits after each course, including the cocktails. Would liked to have had small dishes for shared appetizers. I left half of my Lavender Collins because I just didn’t care for it. The dining room was clean, as was the restroom. The mat inside the entryway had several wrinkles in it, which could be a trip hazard. The food, however, was spectacular. The pasta was fresh and house-made. The rolls were light. The squash soup was thick. It was good but lacked flavor. The chicken fingers were hand-cut. The pasta carbonara was amazing. It was cooked Al dente. I can’t say enough good about it. We were thanked as we left.
there is no gluten in this restaurant all the bread covered items on the menu are gluten free. you are going to pay for it but it's tasty, I took these photos offline because I forgot to take my own, but we (4 of us) shared nachos, chili fries, and fried chicken plate
This is as close to a local community diner I’ve found in West Hollywood! Gay friendly, drag shows, gay workers I see around town! People recognize you and are friendly! A large variety menu like a small town diner and vegan options! This review was made in connection with Toast Promotions.
Excellent selection of gluten-free food!! I’m so excited to go back and try more food from the extensive menu. The other two people I went with really enjoyed their food (a burger and the salmon tacos). I tried the organic chicken and rice soup and appetizer chicken tenders (I was in a mood). The soup was okay, but the chicken in it seemed like it was from a can. The tenders actually came out as a fried chicken filet cut into strips. It tasted decent, but I was expecting tenders. We also got chocolate cake to go,,,, and the flavor was worth it! I’d recommend eating it with ice cream because it’s very dense and not super moist. Overall, service was excellent and I would recommend the restaurant…. Just probably won’t order what I ordered again.
WeHo spot serving healthy and hearty brunch options. Came here on a Saturday morning in a group of four and waited about 20 minutes for a table (we had no reservation but I would suggest making one). Indoor and outdoor seating. Credit cards accepted. I split the French toast and the desayuno fuerte with my boyfriend - I especially liked the potato pancakes in the desayuno fuerte. The waitress was friendly and the overall vibes were chill. It’s a good local spot to have a meal and catch up.
Hmmm, I have mixed feelings about this place—maybe because I ordered takeout instead of dining in. I got a sandwich on sourdough and wasn’t a huge fan; it was pretty bland and lacked flavor. I also tried a protein smoothie, which was just okay but tasted a bit watered down. Overall, nothing really stood out to me, and I’m not sure I’d come back or recommend it.
We ordered CLUB SANDWICH (vegan) and Cinnamon swirl French toast. The sandwich was okay. I felt the flavors were less in the tofu. However, the French toast was yummy. I would go here again for the French toast. Given the price, I didn't find the food taste worth it, however, the portion size is huge. The service and the ambiance were good.
Overall not a bad place to go. The place is very clean and has a lot of options on the menu. Plus you can even customize your own plates. The food was pretty good although I would have liked more vegetables in the spring rolls and less sea kelp. The turkey meatballs had huge chunks of garlic in them which was a little over powering, but some people may like that. Drinks are fantastic and they have a happy hour as well. Service was super slow took over an hour for our food to come out after waiting for over 30 minutes to place an order. It wasn't even that busy.
Host was super rude to me in front of my girlfriend. Who does he think he is? After being seated heard two servers talking poorly about other customers - “wonder if we should kick them out”.. seriously? Needs much better staffing. Food was fine. Won’t return.
