If you’re looking for a dining experience that perfectly bridges traditional roots with a modern heartbeat, Jazba in the East Village is a must-visit. This Indian restaurant pays a sophisticated tribute to India’s legendary street food, making it an absolute standout for dinner. To Sip The craft cocktails are a masterclass in balance. I ordered the Mulethi, a gin sour riff with passion fruit and a sweet honeycomb tuile that highlighted the beautiful, earthy aroma of licorice root. My partner chose the Jamun, a vibrant mix of gin, Ume plum, and jamun-berry puree that was incredibly refreshing. To Eat The food is a love letter to Lucknow, featuring flavors that are hard to find elsewhere in NYC: - Basket Chaat: A stunning potato basket filled with sweet potato, papdi, and chickpeas. It’s a crunchy, tangy explosion of flavor. - Aminabad Ki Galouti Kebab: Inspired by the famous Tunday kebabs, these minced mutton kebabs were incredibly buttery and melted instantly. The accompanying warqi paratha was the perfect flaky pairing. The menu also boasts impressive vegetarian options. The Atari Paneer featured tender house-made cheese in a rich tomato masala, while the Kashmiri Nadru Kofta, spiced lotus root dumplings in a velvety cashew sauce, was easily the highlight of our main course. Jazba is a gem that manages to be both upscale and deeply soulful. Whether you're there for the innovative drinks or the regional specialties, it’s a journey worth taking.

We dined at Jazba during restaurant week and went straight of the curated menu for the week. The proteins were cooked very well and the spices were balanced. My wife even compared the goat curry to her ma’s mangsho.

I’ve been meaning to try Jazba for a while and very glad I did… Stopped by on a quiet Thursday evening and sat at the bar. First order was the delicious Juman cocktail, a gin-based drink with plum and jamun-berry puree. It was so good, that I ordered a second one when the entree arrived. For the food, I first tried the Aslam butter chicken from the small plate section. The sauce was fantastic; I could have bathed in it. For my entree, I had the railway mutton curry with tender lamb chunks in a tangy, rich tomato sauce. Also, excellent. The service was very good and I lucked out by coming on a not busy night so the volume was to my liking. A very enjoyable experience. I’ll definitely visit again.

We were originally booked at Junoon, but the reservation was shifted to Jazba because there was a child in our party. This felt surprising, especially as we’ve dined at Semma with our child before, despite it also being fine dining. That said, Jazba turned out to be a very pleasant experience. The staff were kind, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable, which immediately put us at ease. The food was excellent, well-prepared, and full of flavour. Overall, Jazba more than made up for the initial disappointment and saved the day. A warm atmosphere and great food made it an enjoyable dining experience.

Fantastic food and service. The saag is a must try, along with the fish tikka. We also got the railway goat curry and green chili chicken which was also fantastic. The drinks were well made as well.

Went here as a group of five to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and we had a great time! The cocktail menu is wonderfully unique, with hints of Indian spices, they definitely hit the spot. For appetizers, we ordered several dishes and enjoyed all of them, but the Aminabad ke Galouti stood out with its tender, juicy meat. One item, the Basket Chaat, wasn’t quite right, but the staff kindly replaced it with an even better dish. For mains, the Railway Mutton Curry, Green Chilli Chicken, and Atari Paneer were flavorful, delicious, and were just the right amount of spicy. It’s also one of the rare places that serves Roomali Rotis, and we were so glad we ordered them! Overall, it was an amazing and memorable dining experience — just a tad on the expensive side, but well worth it!

We visited this restaurant as a group and tried several appetizers and main dishes, each one was absolutely delicious, and every dish was better than the last! I’ve been to many Indian restaurants before, but this one is definitely among the best. The flavors, the atmosphere, and the service were all outstanding. Highly recommended! 👌

I love the complexity of Indian food this place is showcasing. It’s delicious but profound, comforting but flavorful. The Galouti kebab literally melted in your mouth, so silky smooth and the spice lingered on your tongue for a lasting taste. It’s crazy good! It’s not the typical Indian food you know in the city, it’s so much more sophisticated, rich and layered. It’s so wonderful to see that restaurants like this enriches the soul of New York dining.

Just had a delicious meal at Jazba. We were there for a milestone bday. Our friends had booked the entire restaurant for a group of 40 friends and family. We loved the cocktails Peepli, Paan, Adraki punch. Appetizers Fav were Surat ke bread rolls, kachori Kadhi Bhujje, Galluti Kebabs. Main Course : absolute fave was Chole Bhatura. Other items were good too. Atari Paneer, Mathura ke Bedmi alu among others. Shahi Tukda, Kheer and kulfi lollipops were yummy. Overall a great time with food, friends and smiling staff.

WOW! What an AMAZING experience at Jazba. The staff, the decor, the drinks (loved the Amrud and Kesar), the apps, mains, the dessert and chai. Everything was out of this world and I can’t wait to come back again soon! Desserts and drinks are the best I’ve ever had, loved the paneer appetizer and the kofta for the main course!

Jazba is our go-to spot whenever we visit New York! This restaurant never disappoints with its delicious curries, especially the chicken, shrimp, and lamb dishes, which are packed with bold flavors and authentic spices. The food always feels fresh, and every dish is cooked to perfection. The drinks menu is equally impressive, with creative cocktails infused with Indian spices that pair beautifully with the food. The ambiance is vibrant and welcoming, making it a great spot to unwind and enjoy a meal. One thing we truly appreciate about Jazba is its fantastic staff—they are always warm, friendly, and attentive, ensuring we have a wonderful dining experience every time. Plus, the restaurant is surprisingly kid-friendly, which makes it a perfect choice for a family meal. Every trip to New York includes a stop at Jazba, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Indian flavors, excellent service, and a lively atmosphere. Can’t wait to visit again!

Jazba boldly celebrates India's iconic street foods, recreating the charm of century-old eateries with elevated dishes. The moment we saw the menu, we wanted to try everything. Starters set the tone of the meal, and for the most part, did not disappoint. The Surat ka Bread Roll was crispy on the outside and perfectly spiced inside, definitely one of those bites that make you nod with instant approval. The Kachori Kadhi Bhujje was a nostalgic winner, with the kadhi adding a tangy richness that truly transported me to the streets of India. The only letdown was the Paneer Teh Pe The, bland and forgettable compared to the rest. That said, it wasn’t among their recommended items, so we were not too heartbroken. For the mains, we tried the Atari Paneer and the Kashmiri Nadru Kofta. Both were flavorful and unique in their own ways. The koftas, in particular, intrigued me, I was really looking forward to the dish, but it slightly fell short of expectations. Plus, only three koftas in the plate? Felt like an odd number and a portion that could be a tad more generous (four would have felt complete). The desserts were undeniably the highlight of the evening. The Shahi Tukda was decadent, saffron-soaked bread with silky rabri that just melted in the mouth. And the Kulfa was pure joy. An inventive twist with authentic kulfi and cardamom-laced phirni, easily one of the best desserts I have had in a while. Jazba has energy and color, but the seating and service could use some polishing. A bit more attentiveness and warmth from the staff would elevate the whole experience. The drinks, too, were a hit-and-miss. All in all, Jazba is a flavorful journey worth taking, especially if you are craving bold Indian street eats in a modern setting.

I had a wonderful time at Jazba in NYC! The food was delicious. The staff made the experience even better, though. They were warm, friendly, and super helpful, making sure we felt taken care of the whole time. The atmosphere was great too, making it a perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends or family. I’d definitely recommend it if you're craving some delicious Indian food in the city!

Jazba provided a great dining experience overall! The food was delicious, especially the vegetarian dishes (which I mostly ordered). Our friends who ordered non-vegetarian options also raved about their meals. The atmosphere had great vibes, although I felt the portion sizes could have been a bit more generous for the price.

Jazba is an ambitious restaurant with flashes of real excellence, but it remains a place where intention occasionally outpaces execution. At its best, the kitchen shows a clear understanding of bold Indian flavors and modern presentation; at its weakest, that ambition drifts into inconsistency and restraint where confidence is required. The room sets expectations high. Jazba’s atmosphere is energetic and polished, designed for a contemporary dining crowd that values style as much as substance. Unfortunately, the food does not always rise to that promise. Starters reveal the restaurant’s uneven footing. Some dishes arrive well-seasoned and texturally sound, while others feel overworked or underpowered. Tandoor-driven items show respectable char but sometimes lack depth beyond surface-level spice. Where smoke and marinade should integrate into the protein, flavors occasionally feel layered on top rather than developed through. The main courses are similarly mixed. Curries display competent technique — sauces are smooth, plating is clean — but several lean too heavily on richness without delivering sufficient aromatic complexity. Cream and butter soften the edges where sharper spice definition would elevate the dish. Proteins are generally cooked properly, yet few preparations leave a lasting impression, especially when measured against the restaurant’s pricing and positioning. Rice dishes and breads are serviceable but fail to distinguish themselves. Naan arrives warm but without the blistered char or chew that signals careful tandoor handling. Biryani, a dish that demands discipline and layering, feels assembled rather than composed — satisfying in portion, lacking in perfume and structure.

TLDR: The graph of our dining experience (bear with me here) would be like y = 7.5-x. Started out decent (7.5/10) and then it just got worse and worse. Came here with the gang for Restaurant Week, and it was not great. Sucks too, because I remember coming here when it opened 2 years ago and it was definitely better (tho still not worth the price back then). Apps were decent (gol gappa good but pricey, fish tikka great, paneer and chicken ok) and drink (adraki punch) was good. Laccha paratha was fine, railway mutton curry was forgettable, chicken curry was overcooked, etc. Kulfi pops were just bad (especially the mango one). All-in-all, def not worth what we paid. Also, while I empathize with the waiters who were really trying but were severely shortstaffed for a busy Monday night, our service was also not amazing / the ambiance was meh. Far too many other good Indian options in NYC to return to this one.

Never have I ever given 1 star to any restaurant in the US. Except Jazba. Went in to celebrate an occasion but we were severely disappointed. We made a huge mistake of going with the prestige pre fixe menu. The portion sizes are for a toddler. It doesn't justify the cost. Don't fall for this scam. I've been to other set menu restaurants as well. But this was was overpriced. We ordered Galauti Kebab - The only good savoury thing. Although kebab portions were TINY. Fish Tikka- Bland. Mutton Curry - It had only 1 small potato piece and 3 mutton pieces. Mutton was cooked to perfection but curry was average. Goan prawn curry- there only item with good quantity- 4 huge prawns and watery tasteless curry. Naan - looked like roti and was extremely thin. We had to order extra appam. Dal tadka - 1 bowl of rice and small portion of daal tadka. We told the server our concern regarding small quantity of daal. He was kind enough to give us another portion. Desserts kind of saved our meal. Kulfi pops were fantastic especially the pistachio one. They serve the same ones at junoon. Shahi tukra - teeny tiny in size but delicious. Junoon is my favorite restaurant ever. But this sister restaurant was a complete disappointment.
