Lamberts Austin Reviews
Austin has many good options for BBQ, so it had been a few years since we had been to Lamberts. We returned a few weeks ago and were not disappointed. It is not BBQ on butcher paper, but if you want a bit nicer experience still with great food and EXCELLENT service this is your place. We tried a bit of everything, and it was all great. Noise level can vary a bit based on if there is a band upstairs. Most times I’ve been it is easy to talk, with the band upstairs it was a bit harder – but the bonus was we were able to enjoy a concert while we ate.
Best first meal in the US. Amazing food, nice people and an authentic atmosphere. 10/10, would recommend to everyone. Went back with friends for a 2nd time too and we loved it.
Came in for lunch on a Saturday- not too busy. We split the sampler platter, deviled eggs, and potato salad. All was very good. Brisket was the best I've had- melted in your mouth! Ribs were also very good. I didn't even use any sauces- didn't need them. The Chedder Jalapeno sausage was a little salty. Deviled eggs were very good and so was the potato salad. If you like a good sweet and spicy cocktail the Bee sting was delicious!
It was a team dinner along with a vendor. We could have good conversation. Very good service. That staff was very friendly and accommodating. I am a vegetarian and they adjusted the menu and provided vegetarian options. Other colleagues raved about the meat and brisket. Definitely recommend this place either as family or team dinner.
Three of us had a smaller lunch before a movie. The server was very friendly and engaging and very professional. We split a wedge and one of the sandwiches and the kitchen split the plate without us asking, which we appreciated. The cocktail and draft IPA were tasty. The prices are reasonable for the downtown area. We were served with plenty of time for movie.
December 2025 It’s been decades since I was last in Texas, and this brisket is exactly what I remember. I spent a year in DFW and what I missed was the tender, juicy, charred, flavorful pieces of meat that are hard to find outside this state. I was a bit disappointed for the size at $29, but for the real deal it was worth it. And the side of coleslaw was delightful. Crisp, fresh, delicious, with a nice kick to it. Great service and I enjoyed the house lager, too. Glad to get a chance to experience some legit Texas brisket again.
Really great barbecue restaurant in Austin, with a lovely team and excellent service. The atmosphere is fantastic, a really lively place and the perfect spot for a good meal. Was the first day of the first time in Austin and an amazing introduction to a fantastic city with great people. Fresh ceviche, amazing barbecue and arguably the best pale ale I had in Austin over 5 days. Prices a bit steeper than other places but well worth it as the quality and experience exceeds expectations. Will definitely be returning next time in Austin. Location is good, easily walkable from a lot of the main spots in town.
I had the happy hour brisket sandwich and queso. Both were delicious. I will definitely return for the food. The only thing I thought was odd was that a single well/house whiskey was about the same price as their signature cocktails ($15), which is something I’ve never experienced anywhere, but good to know—next time I’ll just get a cocktail.
First time at Lamberts and I have to say it was top notch. We had the brisket and achiote chicken and both were very good! The mac and cheese is some of the best I've had. The potato salad wasn't great but I added the mustard bbq sauce to make it better in my opinion. The corn bread was really good as well. The building itself is very nice and clean. We'd love to check it out later in the day with live music upstairs. I would definitely eat here again and would highly recommend you give it a try.
Wanted to try some local BBQ flavours and was so glad I visited this place, tried their three meat sampler and all 3 meats (brisket, sausage and pork rib) were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The store bought bread kinda cheapens it a little bit lol, but I can imagine people preferring it there than not, I just left mine untouched. Visited on a Tuesday evening and it was so busy all I could get was a bar seat immediately. Friendly staff and service. Ambiance was moderately loud with low lit dinner mood lighting. Price guide (as of Oct 2025): Three meat sampler $38 Mourvedre red wine $15 Tax $4.38
My husband and I come to Austin on the weekends to try new spots & we stopped by this gem! It was so nice when you walked in & seating was set very well! I got the smoked turkey Reuben with potatoes salad & my husband got the brisket plate. Everything tasted so good and very fresh! Also, the food came out fast! They had 3 different types of bbq sauce; sweet, mustard & spicy. All were so good! Service was great too! We will definitely be back!
Very friendly and helpful servers upon arrival. I ate before music or the real night crowd, nice chat with the waiter while ordering. Guided me to the steak and paired with an old fashioned. I ate it all. Tender, moist and packed with flavor. Only wish I could have tried more items off the menu. Ill be back and try to align with a mellow band next time.
I had a wonderful experience eating at this restaurant. I came here per the recomedation of my Uber driver for his favorite: the Chipotle queso with burnt ends, which was fantastic! I also got the 3 meat sampler with the jalapeño cheddar sausage and a side of jalapeño, lemon & garlic roasted broccoli. All the food was delicious, but what made the meal special was Allie, the bartender who helped me. She was very personable, kind & had lots of great recommendations, like to try the Split decision drink with my meal & the Hanger Steak with Cholula butter, avocado salsa verde, broiled jalapeno, and cheddar relleno. I'll definitely get that next time! Thank you for your wonderful recommendations, Allie! I had a fantastic meal & look forward to returning with friends.
I stopped in for lunch yesterday, and I decided to sit at the bar. Ali was my barmaid. Not only is she gorgeous, but a five-star barmaid. She also makes a killer lemonade. I had the ribs and brisket combo. The ribs were on point, and the brisket was phenomenal. Most places slice their brisket to the point where you can read a newspaper through it, not here. The brisket was cut so you knew what you were getting. Perhaps the kitchen staff can go to other barbecue joints and show them how it's done. My sides were the greens and the mac and cheese. Both were delicious. I am looking forward to my next trip back to Austin. ☆☆☆☆☆
We came on a Saturday with a group of 11 from San Antonio. We had a reservation at 1:30pm (we would be ordering from the Weekend Lunch Menu) We got to the restaurant 10 minutes early, they had our table ready even then!👍🏾 We were seated and greeted. Very nice Ambiance. However they were out of the Fish and Grits (not sure what time Weekend lunch service starts since we got there at 1:30 and they were already out) several people in our group wanted the Fish and Grits and had to find something else. I, on the other hand ordered the Jalapeño salad with Lime chicken. It was a large portion and delicious 😋 All of the flavors worked so well together (the kale the lime and jalapeño🤌🏾). My sister started eating my salad it was so good. I even had enough to take some home with me. Over all it was a nice experience . We all left full and took naps on the ride home.
Loved the visit. The pâté was great, served on fried brioche. The meat platter allows you to try brisket, pork ribs, and sausage, and there is enough food there for two. This is also true for the lemon pie; don't go and order two desserts unless you are really hungry. The lemon pie was huge.
Well shoot.... I honestly wasn't expecting this place to go so hard, but truth be told, it was an incredible experience. The bartender, whose name I can't recall (downstairs bar, Friday night 11/8) was one of my favorite bartenders I've ever had in Austin. Knowledgeable, busy but not rushed, super helpful, present, genuinely kind, and made a killer cocktail. Every course of food was truly mouth watering. The staff was working fluidly together, which led to us having wonderful service. We will definitely be back. Thank you Lambert's for setting such a high bar.

Great food! A bit loud but good videos, bartenders were great at funny. There was live music the night we went which was nice and we sat at the bar.

The food, drinks, service and vibe here are consistently good. Portions of food are substantial too. Good value during happy hour, but the happy hour time window is a bit short and menu is somewhat limited. The location is great too if you’re going to ACL Live (Moody Theater) or 3TEN. The wild boar ribs I my favorite app. And the beef ribs for dinner are incredible. When they have the bone in NY strip on the menu it is a must order because it is so damn good - usually for New Year’s Eve for certain. A solid four stars!
Stopped in for a late lunch and had the Pulled Smoked Pork sandwich off the bar menu — absolutely delicious! Tender, smoky, and full of flavor. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere had that perfect Austin vibe — relaxed yet lively. Great spot all around; can’t wait to come back.

Busy. Good ribs. Potato salad ok. Hamburger was ok. Noise level was 4/5. Service was okay, server was covering many tables.
The people here were lovely. The ribs were excellent. The brisket tender, although a little dry. Overall feels quite expensive but would return.
So tired of overpriced drinks and "meat". So, unoriginal and plain. Can't restaurants be creative anymore and serve something original and unique? There are plenty of 'good' restaurants, how about …
We came here at the recommendation of the.Resort. We were seated right away. We got the three meat sampler, macaroni and cheese and the queso with burnt ends and chips for the appetizer. The appetizer came out after we already received our food. All of the meat was a little on the spicier side. The brisket had a lot of fat, and I felt it needed to be smoked longer for the fat to be emulsified. The jalapeno cheddar sausage was hot. The macaroni and cheese had a good flavor. The queso was disappointing. It did not have burnt ends in it, it just had chopped brisket, which is not the same as burnt ends. The complimentary cornbread muffins were not something that we cared for, there was corn in them.

Walking in one would have thought they were in for a great experience. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The brisket was dry and lacked flavour. The cornbread was mediocre. The fries were tasteless. To ensure consistency the service was spotty and awkward. So many great BBQ places to choose from, so skip this one. Dude’s Food Score: 2.25 stars
Ordered pickup tonight…. I have been wanting to try Lamberts for a long time. I live right up the street. I ordered the all beef hot link which was supposed to to come with their homemade sauerkraut. I received no sauerkraut. I ordered lean burnt end brisket. 1/2 of it was fat and does not come close to as tasty as Blacks BBQ or even Coopers. Blacks is really one of the best and is probably 1/2 mile from Lamberts. Also ordered the Ahi tuna ceviche… good but not great but their homemade tortilla chips are very good. I hope Lamberts will try harder to give LEAN FLAVORFUL BRISKET when requested. Very disappointing!
