Kopi Bar and Bakery Berkeley Reviews
They have the best cappuccino in walnut greek 😍😍❤️🔥 Their service is great 👍🏻 Their pastries are amazing too.
very interesting coffee shop/bar setting. the sesame kouign amman pastry has me in a chokehold.
Had to try the Kopi Avocado coffee, it was super creamy and just the right amount of sweet.
I considered gatekeeping this place because it feels like a local hidden gem in Walnut Creek. I decided to visit after hearing about their famous avocado kopi coffee and wanted to give it a try. It was amazing! The mellow and neutral flavors from the avocado paired perfectly with the strong bitter notes from the espresso to create a delicious balanced drink that wasn’t too sweet. Inside the decor is modern and clean. We unfortunately came in the afternoon when all the pastries were sold out but excited to try them next time. Glad to have found a new spot locally!
We came in as they were closing shop so we couldn't taste any of the pastries. We could order coffee though, the Kopi Avocado was delicious and my husband ordered a Coconut Cappuccino is on the sweetish side. It's like drinking 'Malagkit' - Filipinos will know what I'm talking about 😂. Great friendly customer service! Will return to try their pastries...and Kopi Avocado again! Attached to the SanDai restaurant.
This place is pretty good , they have a coffee bar and plenty of space for dining .First time trying Indonesian coffee and it is strong , make sure to properly mix the drink whenever it is hot or cold to get the right flavors . Thought avocado and coffee didn’t go well but was pleasantly surprised made the coffee creamier
im reluctant to leave this review because i don’t want this hidden gem to get overpopulated! came here to get some work done. When peeking inside, it didnt look like there was a seating area, but when you turn the corner there is a beautiful seating area with huge windows. Not too crowded, lots of tables, free wifi, and delicious food and coffee. per the recommendations in other reviews i got the pandan croissant and avocado coffee and it did not disappoint! I will note that there were only two other tables populated when j arrived and it was a bit uncomfortably loud with so much chatter in the echoey room, but with my headphones it wasnt too much of an issue. this is my new go to spot for getting work done. thanks for the wonderful experience!
This place is awesome. Staff is kind and helpful and the place is modern and fresh. So many dairy-free coffee options! And they're halal. The only problem is they're too close to our house and now we're there waaaayy too often for coffee and pastries! 😅
The coffee here is hands down the best in all the east bay! The Kopi avocado is insanely creative and unlike other espresso drinks, and their cappuccino is just top notch. We just got back from Paris and this is just as good if not better than Pierre Hermé croissants in my opinion. They rotate their flavors, but they are always creative and inspired. This croissant is coconut pandan with beautiful layering and a crunchy caramelized coconut center. The flavors were very balanced, with a sweet rich center and flavorful but not sweet surrounding.
Sometimes I'm a meanie, looking to knock a 5 star down because how can anything be perfect? Sometimes I feel sublime, like this time, finding Kopi Bar creating its own paradigm by serving creative coffee drinks and wine, and satisfying this addiction of mine by having a drink that's blowing my mind. Didn't imagine I would find Kopi Avocado tasting divine. I am inclined to redefine my definition of prime because I wasn't a believer, but now I'm. Nothing is perfect so: 4.9
Don’t let the word avocado scare you, the Kopi Avocado does not taste like the actual vegetable, and is incredibly delicious. Super unique and well executed, I could have it everyday

I came here on a Wednesday morning, it was a little busy but the wait was short. I ordered a cappuccino with oat milk and a banana chocolate chip muffin. The cappuccino was one of the best I've ever had and the latte art was very clean. I will definitely be coming back to try more of the menu!

I’m obsessed with their avocado coffee 🤩 and love their everything bagel egg cream cheese thing. My parents loved their cappuccino and croissants. I need to come back and try their pandan croissant & everything else on the menu 🤤. The service is always great and the decor is a vibe ✨.
OMG. This place is awesome. We stopped here while getting an oil change in my car and I’m so glad we did. My nephew wanted to try the avocado coffee and I couldn’t wrap my mind around avocado coffee even though I love avocado. He ordered and then the server told me it was their most ordered drink. So knowing that it was made with oatmilk and condensed coconut milk (o can’t tolerate dairy) I decided to get one for myself because I wanted decaf. It was so creamy and delicious. I will definitely be coming back next time I’m in town. I've told some friends about it and they can't understand how avocado coffee can be so good, but it definitely is. You should try it!
Quite nice! Good coffee. Lots of seating. Do note that they have a one hour limit for laptop users, which is totally fair so people don’t camp out all day. There’s seating on the lower level of BAMPFA that does not have a time limit.
Really lovely introduction to bampfa. Great food and great coffee in a beautiful space. Glad to have them.
The Avocado coffee was very smooth and bursting with flavors. Waffles and chicken was very well seasoned and Chef Nora’s burger super fresh and delicious! The restaurant was clean and welcoming, the staff was friendly and helpful. Coconut croissant was heavenly and cappuccino was amazing! Will definitely be visiting this place again!

I happened to be walking by and in need of coffee. Thankfully I stopped, and had some of the best coffee anywhere. I ordered a Cortado, it arrived at my table perfectly presented, in a warm mug, it was made with care, and most importantly: delicious. This is my new coffee spot in Walnut Creek!
Overpriced soup and decent pastries in a lovely space (4/5 Green Stars) Kopi bar and bakery is accessible by entering the Berkeley Art Museum and taking the stairs or elevator to the left of the entrance desk. You can access the café without paying for museum entry. I actually discovered Kopi through the Too Good To Go app – if you’re lucky you can snag a discounted bag of bakery items at the end of the day. I turned up early and ordered the soup – potato leek and lemongrass ($12) and a side of bread ($3). Including tax, tip and a 3% credit card charge (the café is cash-free but then charges for credit transactions) it came to around $20. When the soup arrived I was kinda shocked – such a tiny bowl of soup! Potatoes and leeks are not expensive ingredients and a bowl of soup and bread should not cost $20. I happened to catch another customer’s expression when her soup arrived – it clearly said: is that it? The soup was tasty (I may try lemongrass and chili oil in my next potato leek soup) but besides being overpriced, it was oversold on the menu. It was touted to come with micro nasturtium leaves and they certainly were micro – two of them! The bread was a complete miss for me – it might be good with jam but didn’t go well with the soup at all. I get the sense of overconfidence in the concept and I’m not sure that the average hungry museum visitor would be thrilled with it. On the plus side, staff members were friendly and pastries were good. I received three pastries in my Too Good To Go bag – the almond berry teacake and cinnamon raisin swirl were both good. The latter was almost like a good pain au raisin, with not too much cinnamon. The third pastry – the chocolate babka knot – was just ok for me, but I’m not a big chocolate babka fan. There’s a sign asking laptop users to limit their visit to one hour. I’m also giving Kopi 4/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on the following: • A lot of the menu is veggie-friendly: four of five toasts were vegetarian and two out of the three lunch dishes were vegan. My soup was also vegan but I don’t think any of pastries are vegan. • For animal products, most of them have lighter environmental footprints (compared to beef and lamb): chicken, tuna and egg. • There’s no information on ingredient sourcing – this is surprising for a café affiliated with the BAMPFA. • Coffee beans are Indonesian (from Mr. Espresso) – I had to dig to find that info cos it’s not on the Kopi website. Considering how the coffee industry impacts Indonesian rainforests it would be appropriate for some assurance on these beans – a comment on the website, a certification, even just naming them! Mr. Espresso has a good reputation, but for a café to have no info on beans… That might fly in Walnut Creek, but not in Berkeley! (Especially for a chef with a background in coffee joints like Farley’s and Blue Bottle.) • A participant in the Too Good To Go program, mitigating food waste.

Could've been much nicer had there not been a large dog sitting on the indoor cafe floor the entire time (in violation of State health code.) Wake up, owners: these laws are about fecal contamination! And maybe even customer comfort.
Very excited to finally try this place, a big fan of Chef Nora. The coconut milk in the latte tasted sour. I asked the barista and they said "that was normal" I've been drinking coconut milk in my daily lattes and they are sweet/fatty. This one was just off. I shared with my coworker, also a coconut milk fan and great barista, and his immediate reaction was sour/off. The chicken dish was good, $24, pricey for a small box of rice, 4 oz of chicken, a small ramekin of a good sauce, and good broth. The salted chocolate chip cookie was excellent. The register person was very nice and helpful. I was surprised that the baristas did not offer to check the milk or make me a latte that did not taste sour. That would've changed my first impression and kept me in the fan club.
NO BLACK TEA at High Tea! You would expect a good, traditional, robust English black tea, like Darjeeling, Assam, breakfast blend, something! After all, high tea is a traditional English thing. They had something called "orange flower black tea" which was actually a very light green, very weak oolong tea. So instead, I had the Kopi coffee, which was actually delicious. But this was high tea! The savory and sweet treats were tasty and vegetarian (not vegan) and very good. More sweet than savory items (I would have preferred more savory items than sweet). Also, we were so close to the other two tables on either side of us that I was a little self-conscious talking to my partner.
