Chimu Brooklyn Reviews
Fast service, large portions, and a steady stream of regulars even on a Tuesday night. All the makings of a good place. I went here with a friend and the ceviche (blue snapper) was super good, definitely easy to split as an app between 2-3 people or eat alone as an entree. I got the steak and my friend got a chicken dish. They were both good in different ways, I liked hers a lot more than mine but I think that's just because of the amount of tomato. The desserts were large and tasty, I'd recommend the ice cream (which almost seems more sorbet like).
We have been coming here for years . Everything and everyone there is awesome We always have a good time and enjoy the delicious food. Its always a pleasure to see freddy. Keep up the good work and may god continue to bless you and your establishment highly recommend this place Food and drinks on the money
This place has been my GO To several times for good service, food, and atmosphere! they have a Sangria that is awesome!!! if you order a pitcher you may find yourself catching a Uber home! Ha Ha they have an awesome Green Spaghetti pasta with a steak...their Ceviche is to die for! the best I have had overall. Best Peruvian restaurant in Brooklyn! You owe it yourself to try this place. you are missing out! it is well worth your trip!
We had the mussels, anticucho with papas a la huancaína, ceviche and the paella. Very delicious! The sauce on the potatoes is good, but not as good as the other plates. The rest, definitely good. We got the sangria, which has pisco, good stuff if a bit surprising. The service is alright. Thursday’s aren’t super busy so we got a table without waiting. Definitely recommend it and don’t forget to get the lúcuma ice cream, it’s a delicacy.
One of my favorite restaurants that I’ve been to!!! We stumbled upon this place accidentally when it was raining and were looking to grab dinner at the closest restaurant—and we were so glad we did! Every dish we had was amazing and cooked to perfection. We got the plaintains, ceviche and lomo saltado—highly recommend them all. I can’t wait to go back!
A nice dinner. We were seated in the garden space in the back. I love sitting outdoors at restaurants. We enjoyed the ceviche mixto. I ordered tacu tacu skirt steak--the steak was a bit more cooked than the medium I ordered, but still good. The rice was yummy with the bit of crispy-cracked-ness. Friendly team working there. Thank you!
Decent place to grab a bite to eat. Cute cozy atmosphere and friendly wait staff. Pricing is reasonable. They have many options when it comes to the menu. The drink menu is cute and has a wide variety. Due to covid a reservation would be a good idea. They have reasonable seat spacing in the restaurant. There is no outdoor dining available.
Great service. Below average Peruvian food. The ceviche was bland and overcooked, fish was of doubtful quality. No balance whatsoever between acidity and salt Arroz chaufa lacked flavor as well Lomo Saltado had too much vinegar, no complexity I hope this isn’t standard for Peruvian food in NYC
For starters the area is very difficult to find parking so I suggest using public transportation or get there with enough time to look for parking. It’s a very busy and fun looking area. The service at the restaurant was at most 2 stars. Our water never smiled and the food literally took an hour to come out. The ceviche was pretty good but the portion is more of an appetizer portion. The green spaghettis and steak were ok; the noodles were a little dry. We ordered cows heart and it was very rubbery and under cooked. I gave it 2 stars because of the ambiance. Beautiful outdoor dining and very small town homie feel. Will probably not go back.
Update - i went in yesterday and waited over 1 hour for my food and i was NOT happy at all with the quality or the service i received . The rice was beyond salty and the fish was super soggy . Last time was way better . Im not sure if they switched cooks but this is not the chimu i ate last month .
