Four & Twenty Blackbirds Brooklyn Reviews
One of the best coffee spots I have been to. The pie is top notch! I wasn’t sure which one to get so I had a couple slices. The coffee was made fresh and was very good. The small cafe space was nice to dine in and had a cool vibe. The service was very good and everything was very very fresh. I wish I lived closer to come back and try more items.
I love pie, and thus am hard to please. I feel like you can kinda get away with a crappy cake but pie holds itself to a higher, more sophisticated standard, and flaws are harder to hide. This was some of the best pie of my life. It was ABSOLUTELY the best pecan pie I've ever had, I now not only understand why people like pecan pie, but I'm now an avid fan myself. I need to get this bakeries book and learn the secrets to their crust because it is perfect. Honestly, there's not much more so say. We tried their lemon, matcha, chocolate pecan and their cranberry sage and every one could not have been improved upon. Flavors were sharp, strong, balanced, great, deep matcha, the lemon and cranberry were tart without being sour, the pecan was sweet without being too sweet (they brilliantly use bittersweet chocolate. I could probably tear through a whole one myself). It's pie done right. Smooth custard fillings, flakey gold crust. And because this place is a paradise full of magical dream people they gave us a to-go cup of whipped cream. I love them. Happy national pie day everybody. For a celebration destination, look no further than this fine place.
Upon passing Four and Twenty Blackbird, you may not know what this establishment sold if not for the outdoor stand directing you to pie… but any and all locals around here know this is where it’s at. There are a handful of flavors to choose from whether you’re ordering by the slice or getting an entire pie. My favorite is the brown butter apple streusel—it’s layered with apples (not soggy) and whatever mixture that holds this pie together, and is topped with a crumble. If fruit/apple pies aren’t your thing, lemon chess, or black bottom oat are good too. If you’d like something more fragrant and floral, go for the lavender honey. It’s custard-like, creamy and smooth, and has a great melt in your mouth consistency. You can grab-and-go or order coffee with a slice and stay for a while to enjoy the cozy vibes.
I really love this spot and none of their pies ever miss. Every single thing I’ve tried has always been fantastic. And I always make it a priority to support all the local businesses that make New York great. If you want pie, this is always the first place I suggest to people.
Swung by for Brooklyn's best pie after a bad day at a nearby salon, and was instantly uplifted. The staff was so friendly and willing to share a laugh and good conversation. They were out of my favorite slice so I was going to take just a latte (also wildly good), but the staff convinced me to take a seasonal Hojicha slice and it was fantastic. Will never stop recommending Four & Twenty Blackbirds!
I got the mushroom hand pie and the hojicha custard pie slice and both were beyond incredible. Like hauntingly delicious. They can't just be out there selling these, it's not reasonable, I should have been warned I would be haunted.
I wish I had a better photo of the rhubarb pie - it’s beautiful and most importantly it tasted amazing. Finding just rhubarb pie is hard and finding it out of season in late September is even harder. I am so glad I could pre order this for my boyfriend’s birthday. It’s his favorite that his mom makes and he is so picky about pies but was really happy with one. Sweet and tart with perfect crust and crumble. Thank you guys for making it a great birthday
The pies from this place are amazingly delicious! My favorite is the Lemon Chess Pie - the best! This last time we had a cappuccino from Variety Coffee - the perfect temperature for a rainy morning. Where some places overheat their capps, here, they definitely make cappuccinos right. Also, my husband & I shared a Blueberry Lemon Muffin and Brown Butter Apple Strudel. Both were scrumptious Fall treats. The place is pretty and rustic with plenty of seating. The staff are always friendly!
We had one savory and one sweet pie. Both were absolutely delicious. Prices are very reasonable. Nice, young, atmosphere. Recommend!
I just experienced four and 20 blackbirds for the first time and I had gotten there lemon chess pie and I kid you not, it is quite literally the most delicious lemon chess pie I have ever had in my existence, almost, if not truly the best thing I have ever tasted. The tartness is just a symphony of delicious and the crust just perfectly flaky and layered and delicious, if I ever had to be on death row, that would have to be part of my last meal
I’ve been eating pie from this place for years but finally made it down to the mothership to try it in person. The place is cute! Lots of seating options. K so about the pies- they are delicious, I’m writing this a week post pie and honestly want to go back today because I need some more strawberry rhubarb pie in my life immediately. (I’m pregnant lol). I’m more of a fruit pie girl and would recommend any of them. I’m sure all the lies are great though. Coffee is good! I left my purse accidentally (did I tell you I’m pregnant?) and they kept it safe till I came to pick it up. Overall 10/10 and need to go back!
tried a slice of the cranberry sage & salty honey. both were great, especially the salty honey. cortado was great, too! i really liked the simplicity of environment. there was more seating space than i expected. service was chill/neutral. thank you!
Came all the way from NJ expecting a warm slice of pie, but the service was kinda cold. Latte wasn’t hot, pie wasn’t warmed up, and no one offered. You’d think a pie shop would be all about warmth. Anyway it’s my second visit, not great.
A pie store with different kinds of pei. The apple pie is nice and can have ice cream together 🍦🍎🥧but all pies are made before the day and can not heating when you eat it, it's a pity⋯ Href’s have lots seats with the charging so you can spent time here. Also offer coffee for take in or take out.
Lovely pie, good coffee, charming interior. All that is why I'll keep going. It's the kind of place though where the service is subtly hostile. You're fine if you, the customer, set the tone heavy with respect and propriety. If you ask for anything that could be interpreted as an inconvenience, you'll receive an attitude that implies you're the problem and how dare you be so entitled and not imagine what it's like for them to be on the receiving end of that question. I stayed until 5:57 the other day and felt like I was being pelted by bad vibes, called out "thanks" as I walked out and was met with what felt like a pointed silence. For context, I'm in hospitality. Being hospitable is not very hard, unless you fundamentally don't believe in the spirit of hospitality.
I wanted to love this place- but I didn’t. I ordered a slice of the caramel apple and the coffee custard. The custard was perfect in texture but the coffee flavor was a bit off. I expected a richer flavor. The caramel apple I thought would be tart and sweet but it tasted like simple apple cinnamon pie. Not much caramel sweetness. I ordered an ice coffee which was also ok. Although not as great as I had hoped I would return to try different pies as they alternate pies. It is 6.00 for a slice and about 45 for a whole pie 🥧
Not a great experience. Walked in to order a few places of pie, we normally go a few times a year and came in excited to pick up the pie. We were immediately met with an attitude like we were impeaching on their alone time, the plave had one other customer there. I initially said I wanted a few pieces of pie, she asked " Well how many is a few", I was originally going to do 4 or 5 but wanted some recommendations or to be treated with respect not as a nuisance. Ended up ordering 3 pieces, and they messed up one piece. So on top of the terrible service they also messed up our order. I also never leave bad reviews or any at all, but we were met with an attitude when we were here 6 months ago too but decided to come back and give them another chance. The pie itself ( the pieces that were correct) however the service sucks.
Rude staff with attitudes. I don't expect them to be overly friendly or nice but it's not necessary to be unpleasant and rude. Pies are decent and on the sweeter end but plenty of good pie places in NYC without a dash of attitude on the side. Not worth the bad experience.
Went in to order 1 lemon chess pie and 1 slice for my birthday but was met with attitude. I do not expect overly friendly service but the way I was spoken to made me felt uncomfortable. The lady taking my order was very snappy and repeated herself loudly when I didn't respond immediately. The pie overall was actually decent but the attitude you get from the staff is not worth the trip.
